ITunes Match on Apple TV 2 streaming problem?

With  iOS 6 music from iCloud is streaming perfectly via iPhone 4 and iPad 2 but on my Apple TV 2 it is still unreliable. Has anyone else found this?  I'm wondering if the ATV could be affected by proximity to amps etc, or whether I should assign static ip addresses to all my devices.  Any suggestions very welcome.  It seems mad that plugging my iPhone into the stereo works better than the ATV!

I recommend first you check software update on the Apple TV to be certain you are up to date.  If you are up to date, I recommend you unplug power to the Apple TV, leave it unplugged for a few minutes, then plug it back in.  If that does not help, re-set the Apple TV.  The instructions for doing that are at this link.  If the link does not load, just reload it and it should show up.

  • Why does streaming iTunes Match to Apple TV from iOS devices work fine but from my Mac Mini not so fine?

As the topic heading states... if I airplay anything from an iOS device I have no issues but from my Mac Mini I am plagued with problems. If I airplay iTunes Match to Apple TV quite often the sound will drop or stutter. I will have to pause the song and start it again.
Also I can be playing everything fine and then all of a sudden my Mac will lose sight of the Apple TV and the only thing that will resolve it is restarting the Apple TV.
Both my Mac and Apple TV and iOS devices are running the very latest updates.

Multiple Apple IDs (2) with Purchases & iTunes Match. Apple TV Purchases. Not happy to have to log in/out to view and enjoy my Purchase Contest. What's the solution?

    Hi
i ran into the same problem. surprisingly though, i am not using multiple apple id and just one mac.
i did change both the account (apple id) and the computer (from pc to a mac server), but home sharing is on and the apple tv (1) is synced with the new computer.
i can connect to the itunes store and browse through it (signed in at all times). i cannot purchase any content and cannot play transferred rentals from the computer (apple tv is not authorised...)
somehow, it seems the apple tv was stuck with a previous id.
i have just now re-authorised my computer on the account and will give the apple tv another try. i did notice a message during the re-authorisation process. the apple tv is being authorised. this gives me hope.
in any case, your setup seems to be a dream come through. i decided to phase out my high end multiroom linn kivor system (over 20k back 6y ago) to an itunes based system. apparently you managed to build something.
i tried an itunes based nas but gave up due to complex operation (and overheating on top) and went for a mac server. i will be using windows clients though.
most of my content is cd based. can you sync purchased content between pc's? or with a server?

  • Accidentally bought iTunes Match with Apple ID instead of iCloud/MobileMe e-mail.

I bought iTunes match with my Apple ID instead of my mobileme/iCloud account and now my iPhone 3GS won't let me use the itunes match because it says I need to have an iCloud account to use it, which I do, but it's not connected to my iTunes Match, my apple ID is.
My general question is why can you buy iTunes Match with an apple ID if you can't even use it on iDevices?
Is there any way for me to fix this problem?
Or did I just waste 25 dollars on something I will never be able to use on my iPhone?

You did it right. Your iCloud account is not necessarily the same thing as your iTunes Account ID. Since you were able to successfully enable iTunes Match you used your iTunes account ID, which is the properly ID to use. To enable iTunes Match on your iPhone log into the iTunes Store using the same iTunes Store ID you used to enable iTM in the first place. Go to Settings > Store and enter the correct ID.

  • How do I activate iTunes Match on Apple TV? Just signed up for it but can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV. It works on my phone and ipad.

How do I activate iTunes Match on Apple TV? Just signed up for it but can't find my uploaded music on Apple TV. It works on my phone and ipad.

Ive had to reboot my Apple TV before I had the option to enable iTunes Match but it did not see my music library. I tried a second reboot and it still says my music library is empty. Its been several days and I can access my library on a Windows PC, my Mac and my iPad so Im all synced up, my Apple TV apparently just wants to be stubborn.

  • Using Itunes Match with Apple TV 2 - Problems

I've subscribed to Itunes Match, and want to use it on my Apple TV 2.
When I select the 'Music' tab it shows me a screen saying that it's preparing my itunes library.
It seems to be stuck on this screen.
I've forced sleep, and it still shows this screen.
Am I being impatient? (Bear in mind, yesterday it showed me my itunes library in Icloud but wouldn't let me play anything).

Update - fixed this with a full restore. Working perfectly.

  • I am having problems with iTunes Match on Apple TV.

The music is there but there are no album covers. I tried resetting and restarting Apple TV and even turned iTunes Match off and on again but no luck. Can anyone help?

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the general iTunes for Windows forum.
    Regards.

  • ITunes Match on Apple TV problems - is it partially down for others?

iTunes Match on my Apple TV is not showing any album covers or playlists this evening. As a result I cannot connect with remote app on my ipad unless I turn match off on Apple TV. Others seeing the same issue?
    Cheers
    Wayne

I was having similar issues, a simple reboot of the device your using will hopefully fix it for you as it did for me :)

  • Can not access iTunes Match from Apple TV (2nd Gen)

I select In the Main Menu => Music => Turn on iTunes Match. I select this option and the iTunes Match screen displays indicating that I must subscribe to this service using iTunes on my computer. I click OK and takes me back to the previous menu.
Under the Computers menu, my computer is recognized and I'm able to stream music and photos.
I had already subscribed and uploaded all my music to iCloud's iTunes Match.
Has any one experienced this problem? If yes, how it was resolved?

Are you logged into the Apple TV for the iTunes store using the same account as you used for iTunes Match.

  • ITunes Match multiple Apple devices

I have an iMac, two iPhones and an iPad2.  All my music is "hard" loaded on all my devices.  What I am not clear on is if I subscribe to iTunes Match will I have to download all my music again vs. playing it from the "cloud?"  I'd rather have it local vs. playing it from the cloud since sometimes the Wi-Fi or 3G connection for the iPhones, iPad may not be all that great.  Or, am I not understanding how Match works.

You have a Mac and 3 iOS devices.  In order to play the songs on the iOS devices, you'll have to have them hard loaded, irrespective of whether or not you use iTunes Match or not.  So for those devices, it doesn't make much difference.  In contrast, Macs can stream content from the Cloud.
In my case, I have an iMac, a MacBook Air, and an iPad.  I tried using iTunes Match on my iPad, but it caused more problems than it solved, so I turned it off on that device and went back to regular syncing to the iMac.  (It actually turned into a big mess with missing artwork, songs missing, etc. which caused me to delete ALL the music and start over again on the iPad).  Again, I would have had to download each song anyway to play them on the iPad.  The MB Air is another story.  Since that device has quite limited memory and can stream music, I took advantage of that feature and set up iTunes Match on the MBAir.  Now I can stream any of my music and not use up memory.
In sum, I found iTunes Match to not meet my needs on my iOS devices, due mainly to the limitations of iTunes Match.  Hopefully Apple will give the service more features in the future to make it better suited to iOS devices.

  • Itunes match turning library into download/stream only!! HELP

OK I'm getting sick of this!
I imported all my songs from my last library on another computer to my new computer.
They were all in itunes and fine and I could play them all.
Now I turn itunes match on....it does its thing and matches them all and then after its done......mt entire library turns into the download symbol on each track.
ALL my songs are still in the itunes music folder on my computer but for some reason itunes match has made them all download/stream only now...
I dont want to press download on all the tracks for fear of them dubling up on my computer.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP??? I've been trying to fix this thing for 3 days now.
    I'm on itunes 11 - mountain lion

i am having the exact same issue - had itunes match since day one without problems and now nothing else will upload

  • Opening Playlists with iTunes Match restarts Apple TV

I recently got iTunes Match. I have successfully connected my iTunes account with my Apple TV - I can see all of my artists, songs, album art, etc. - but I cannot even load the playlists. When I try, my Apple TV says "Loading iTunes Match" for a few seconds, then the pinwheel appears and circles for a few seconds, and then the Apple TV restarts. I can shuffle all my songs, play any artist, and everything works fine then.
To fix the problem, I have turned off Match, disconnected my iTunes account, reset the Apple TV, logged back into iTunes, and turned iTunes Match again. This is the only solution I have found in other threads, but I have done this a couple times on different days with no success. My Apple TV is fully updated, iTunes Match works on all of my other devices, etc.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix I'm not trying?

    Hi onlyalullaby,
If you are having issues such as you describe with your Apple TV I would suggest doing a restore of the device. See this article -

  • Distorted iTunes match using apple tv.

When I play my music from iTunes match on my apple tv at high volume the music distorts.  I play it through some expensive speakers and a nice receiver.  It doesn't distort with AirPlay but just music from iTunes match.  Any ideas on how to lower the incoming volume/signal to the receiver?  Much appreciated!  Apple fan since 2001.
Specs:  apple tv 2nd generation running newest software, iTunes 10.6.2

I am having the same problem with iTunes Match music coming from my Apple TV in which most (not all) of my music is sounding distorted/overmodulated.  My Apple TV is 3rd Gen and the output is going through an HDMI cable to my TV and Receiver.
All other content on my Apple TV is not distorted/overmodulated and I know its not the source mp3 files because they sound fine on all other devices (via my iPod and car stereo, my Macbook through iTunes, etc). I have my firmware up to date and have poked around in the settings and can't seem to find anything to tweek to lower the output from iTunes Match.
I am going to experiment and try to see if turning off "Sound Check" and "Sound Effects" does anything to remedy this (located in Apple TV Settings > Audio & Video ).

  • ITunes Match on Apple TV with two accounts

    Hi all!
I have an Apple TV with two itunes accounts. One of them has the iTunes Match associated and I have sucessfully activated it in the Apple TV.
The problem is that every time we change the account I have to reconfigure iTunes Match again and it takes too long. Is this how it works or I am missing something? If it works this way it is not usefull for me at all .
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
Itunes match only works with one account and cannot be used with any other Apple ID.

  • ITunes Match on Apple TV ignores my custom start/end times on tracks

Some of my tracks in iTunes have custom start/end times set (to cut out skits and stuff). These set start/end times are respected by all my iTunes Match devices (iPod and desktop iTunes) except my Apple TV.

    Hey guys,
I ended up here for having the same issue. iTunes Match playing the song for 20 seconds or so on Apple TV and then giving me error message saying iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later. No trouble shooting worked for me as it didn't for you either. After using my apple tv for several months and experiencing occasional glitches that are somewhat similar to this probelm I boiled it down to 2 possible reasons. 1) some kind of bug that is fixable with latest firmwares Apple releases. 2) problems with Apple's servers. My best guess for this particular problem is the server problems because everything was playing fine until yesterday (Saturday) and the current frmware was released few weeks ago. It is strangely coincedental that most glitches seem to appear over the weekends. About couple of months ago I tried to watch an episode from a show and it would tell me the show would be available to watch in 24 hours. The loading was painfully slow. The problem only lasted a weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem disappears tomorrow although I might be wrong.
