ITunes Match problem - Stalling at Step 2

Thought I'd give iTunes Match a go. However, the process keeps stalling and erroring at Step 2, trying the match songs with iTunes Store library. It always gets to "101 of 4158 Songs Checked" and no further. Been doing this everytime for about 5 days. Any thoughts before I contact Apple for a subscription refund?

This is a known current problem. Please see this thread for more info: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6355061?tstart=0
Its very frustrating and it may be that the best alternative is to persue a refund and use another cloud service that doesn't stop working for a week at a time.

  • ITunes Match now stalls on step 1.  I have a PC with Windows Vista.  I've use Match for a long time

iTunes Match now stalls on step 1.  I have a PC with Windows Vista.  I've used iTunes Match for a long time & it has worked well until last week.  Most of my songs now have a dotted outlined cloud beside them & I can't download to my phone.  6 new albums can't be seen at all.  I've turned off Match (with shift key down) & turned it back on - restricted my upload speed to 75% of max - I even uninstalled iTunes & re-installed it.  Any suggestions?

iTunes Match is stalled in the same place again today.  Step 1 seems to have completed as the blue progress bar is complete.  The message says "Delivering your iTunes Match results..."  When I went to bed last night, this is where iTunes was stuck.  But this morning, Match had stopped trying to "deliver."  It obviously did not finish because 6 new albums do not show up on my iPhone 5 - all of the 3 steps on the Match page were grayed out this morning & the "Start" button was available.
This is what I did yesterday - I looked at My Music and clicked "Songs."  I then added the "iCloud" column and sorted by that field.  I found about 100 files that had a problem of some sort (cloud with exclamation point inside).  Each of them had lost track of where the music file was - even though the music files were exactly where they should have been.  I re-linked (one at a time) all of the music files to the song titles.  In the cloud field one song was described as "ineligible for iTunes Match."  It had a could with a line drawn through it.   I didn't know what that meant, so I deleted the song.
I then turned off iTunes Match holding the shift key down & iTunes began collecting information from my library.  This took several hours but it did seem to complete because it changed to the "delivering results" message.  However, this morning I noticed that all of the files I re-linked yesterday still had the "error cloud" symbol today - a cloud with an exclamation mark inside.  Yesterday these songs wouldn't play until I re-linked the files.  Today they will play as expected, but they still have the "error cloud.'  To add to my confusion albums marked with the "error file" are still able to be downloaded to my phone, but the songs with the "error cloud" will not play smoothly on my PC.  They stutter regularly throughout playback.  However, if I download one of those songs or albums to my phone, it plays perfectly.
I hope this helps someone to explain what my problem is & the appropriate solution.  I have a little more than 12,000 songs in my library in case that makes a difference.  Should I just delete the files with he "error cloud"?  All of the songs appear to be still in the cloud because they are available for download to my phone.

  • ITunes Match is stalling on Step 2. Anything I can do?

Just signed up for iTunes Match and left it running overnight. Step 2 stalled about halfway through my library (i.e., 10k of 22k songs.) Restarted, stalled at a bit earlier. Will try restarting the process. Anything else I can do?

    Hi,
Try holding shift key whilst turning off match. Close iTunes and reopen then turn on match. You will be asked to add this computer, do so. Match will remember previous matches and uploads, so process will be quicker. It will take time and I suggest that you don't allow the computer to go to sleep.

  • HT204406 My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. Many songs are "waiting"

My iTunes Match will not complete Step 3 of the uploading process. I have over 700 "items" designated as "waiting." I have restarted multiple times but it stalls at this point.

I've been reading all these comments about how match is not working and people are having problems uploading all their songs.  My problem is more basic than that.  When I open iTunes I immediately get the spinning color disc of death and I can't do anything at all.  I can't go to the store.  I can't listen to a song. I can't do anything.  I just tried to sync my iPod.  I pugged it into my computer, iTunes started up, looked like it was going to sync, then the spinning disc again.  So forget match; I can't do anything, nada, nothing.   I even tried to send my iTunes application to trash, but I got a message saying I couldn't do that because it was needed for OS X.  Talk about a do loop, this is unbelievable.
Is anyone else having the problem I am having?

  • ITunes Match crashes while at step 3.

iTunes Match crashes while at step 3. Uploading artwork and remaining songs. Steps1 and 2 complete successfully but at step 3 I immediately get an error message saying iTunes has encountered a problem and must shut down. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a solution ?

I Have the same issue, has only just started doing it, I've stripped the drive or all junk, plenty of room on the drive to process. iTunes also goes through the checking loop every time I start itunes, again this is recent. Running XP SP3
    any ideas?

  • ITunes Match stops working at Step 3 in windows - aborts iTunes

When running iTunes Match, steps 1 & 2 load and a green check mark is seen for each.  When it moves to step 3 an error message immediately appeas that indicates "iTunes has stopped working" and iTunes must be shut down.  I purchased iTunes Match on October 26th and have spent hours and hours on the phone with 5 different Apple tech support personnel since October 27th (Case # 523193741).  I called tech support again yesterday and asked if I could bring my Windpows 7 laptop into an Apple store to see if the problem could be solved. The apppointment was made for today, November 15th, in Tigard (Washington Square) store.  Bottom line, the "iTunes is not working" error message popped up again.  The Apple tech expert looked at me and said "I can't help you, I've never seen that before."   Has anyone found a fix that really works for the step 3 "iTunes has stopped working" problem?  Thanks.

    Jim,
There are just too many "waiting" tracks to process and iTunes Match crashed again at Step 3 this morning.   It doesn't seem to matter that all music was purchased from iTunes or uploaded from my personal collection of CDs purchased from Towers Records, Virgin Megastore, and various record clubs.  I am at the end of my rope and have decided to abort further attempts.  Having spent more than 12 hours with various Apple tech support reps since October 27th, including the trip to the Genius bar at the Tigard store in Oregon on November 15th and also including your recommendations, there appears to be no acceptable (for me) solution.
BTW, I purchased an iPad Mini with retina display on November 15th during the visit to the Genius bar at the Tigard store.  Since I still have a iPod Classic with 60GB of music on it (mostly classical) and also have access to radio stations around the world that play classical music using the Tune-in app on my iPod Touch (and on my new iPad Mini)  I'm good to go without iTunes Match.  It will be cancelled.
    Thanks again for your efforts.

  • When I open iTunes , iTunes Match started to process step 1. Always same process and never ending

When I open iTunes , iTunes Match started to process step 1. Always same process and never ending...
I tried some suggestions but I cant fix my problem. Do you have any knowladge about this problem?

For the past few months, and several iTunes upgrades, iTunes Match spends some time in Step 1 "Gathering" and sending information to Apple. Then Step 2 runs through the first 2092 of 2094 pretty quickly. Jumps to 2094. And then immediatly back to Step 1 again.
Repeat every 5 minutes or so until Match is manually turned off.

  • Can't download music - seems to be an iTunes Match problem

I have iTunes Match activated, which is working fine on my iPad and iPhone.  However I cannot download purchased music onto the iMac.
In my household there is a shared iMac and each user has a different login & password.  Only I know my login password.  I have been using iTunes successfully on it for years, and have been using iTunes successfully for about 6 months now.  Auto-download has been disabled for several months now because I don't want everything downloaded automatically.  All has been fine until about a fortnight ago when the iMac stopped downloading newly purchased music whenever I clicked the little iCloud icon.  This is for music that I have successfully purchased and downloaded on my iPhone whilst at work, and now want to listen to at home.  Whenever I click the iCloud icon to download the new song I get an error message telling me that the computer is already associated with an Apple ID, and I have to wait 54 days etc to sign in with a new Apple ID.  However I'm certain no other Apple ID has been used with my account - when I go to the Store menu it is showing my current and correct Apple ID.
The most telling proof that my Apple ID is correct on both iMac and iPhone (and iPad as well) is that when I plug the iPhone into the iMac, the new music syncs across EXACTLY as it should - and it can then be played without problems.  Both the phone and the computer are correctly logged in to the same Apple ID, which is the same Apple ID that I use for iTunes Match.  Also when I click Store -> Update iTunes Match there appears to be no Apple ID conflict.
Obviously this is an iTunes Match problem which I cannot resolve, can someone please provide assistance / advice.

  • ITunes Match program not responding step 1

Whenever I click update iTunes Match, it goes to step 1 and about 1/4 of the way through it (scanning my library), itunes program stops responding and closes itself.  I have tried unistalling and reinstalling iTunes serveral times.  My iTunes is also up to date with 10.5.1.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So, I think I have fixed the issue.  I had to copy my xml .xml file over to my desktop, delete my.itl file from the library, open an empty library and re-import the .xml file.  It was pretty scary, but I'm good about backing up, and the only major pain with this process was that it required me to change the media type on my user imported tv shows back to tv show from movie.  Other than that, it worked like a charm, and i I am once again a happy iTunes Match user.  Probably wont won't be doing another mass delete anytime soon, but then, I shouldnt shouldn't have any real need to.

iTunes match is stuck on Step 1: Gathering Information about your iTunes Library.
It will not progress past step 1.

    Hi..
"A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume iTunes at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button."
From here >  iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match
Can you click the Start button?
Sounds like the internet connection is timing out.
Try turning off your router for a few minutes, then turn it back on. Restart your Mac, launch iTunes and try again.

  • ITunes Match won't pass Step 2

iTunes Match will not complete Step 2: Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store. It just continues to search with the progress bar saying that 12006 out of 12020 Songs checked. It never moves on to Step 3: Upload artwork and remaining songs. Any tips?

    Hi,
First stop match process. Add iCloud status column to song view - go to menu > view > view options and tick box. This column will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, duplicate, ineligible and more importantly waiting. You should find this 'waiting' tracks - looks like 14. Delete them from library but don't move to trash. Now select 'update iTunes match' from store menu. If process completes try readding those tracks.
