ITunes Match Step 3 Stuck

There is a software error which causes the Step 3, upload to iTunes, to hang.
I've tried the following unsuccessfully.
1. Restart iTunes. Interestingly, iTunes will not restart in this condition suggesting a hung process. One must force quit.
2. Check for and remove 'dead tracks'
3. Download and reinstall iTunes
4. Restart iTunes match
5. Reboot iMac
6. Run Disk Utility / Repair permissions. Also ran Disk Utility / Repair
None of the above has any effect on the problem.
There is no upload restriction for my ISP - don't tell me that it is my ISP Apple.
This is NOT a "slow upload" problem. This is a FAILURE TO UPLOAD problem.
Note I am running fully updated iMac with Lion.
Thank you.

Hey everyone...I've been futzing with iTunes Match since the beta was released (I'm a developer) and every time I started iTunes Match it would lockup all my applications usually at Step 1 but sometimes at Step 2 (I could move between them but everyone was beachballing). I've tried for months to get iTunes Match working without result. I would close every app to give it maximum CPU and memory, repair permisions and every other Snake Oil remedy I could think of, without luck. Then today I had a breakthrough. Here's what I did and hopefully it helps someone else:
1. Enable iTunes Match, let it run and lockup/stall/freeze at least once. Restart iTunes and go to iTunes Match in the left bar and click the "stop" button.
2. Go back to your music library, right click on the column names at the top and add "iCloud Download" and "iCloud Status". You should see all your tracks as "Waiting...".
3. Select a group of tracks (I do about 500 at a time), right click and chose "Add to iCloud"
4. iTunes will whirl for a bit and with a bit of luck you'll see it actually processing and uploading/matching music.
5. Repeat this for the rest of your library (increasing the number of tracks you selected if you're brave) and in no time you should be up and running on iCloud.
It's a bummer that the technology isn't better but at least I found a way to get it going.

  • ITunes Match Step 3 Stuck on Last Song

i just signed up for iTunes Match and already experienced a bug ...
Going trough installation I am stuck in Step 2 on the last song...
I read on other forums that people restarted computers, stopped-restarted the installation yet after having tried even this I found no success...
I saw other people suggesting you might wanna convert your files into other format as maybe itunes does not reckognize certain format but that was a pretty long post and Im wondering if Itunes has figured out a ... more smooth way ! !
im not a tech expert and neither have time to bang my head to much around this issue...
I was hoping to have a easy installation but Itunes Match seems to actually have this problem reocurring in many users... (on step 3 too)...
    Any good alternative solution ???

  • ITunes Match: step 3 and "4000" errors

I have not managed to run iTunes Match. It stuck eternaly on step number 3.. I have read that many people had the same problem. Previously appeared me the "4000" erros which disappeared when i disabled "genius". However, now it's stucked on the third step, and I think having tried all the users recommendations. There is someone who has been able to address this issue, which is the position of Apple? the truth is that I think that it is not acceptable to pay for a service that is so hard to activate. I contacted an Apple Specialist via mail and he was unable to solve the problem....

  • Why does iTunes Match keep getting stuck on Step 1?

I realise there are already countless threads on here from people with the same problem but none of them seem to be able to help me. I've recently renewed my iTunes Match subscription after many months but it keeps getting stuck nearly halfway through Step 1. The bar gets so far and then stops for ages.
I've tried all sorts of things: Stopping and starting the match, deleting my iTunes Library.itl file (which just creates even more problems with my library, so I have to put it back to normal with a backup), signing in and out of iTunes Store, closing and reopening iTunes, restarting my PC, deleting duplicates etc. None of them is solving the problem.
In case it's relevant, I've got Windows 8 on my laptop and my iTunes library is based on an external hard-drive I've got connected to the laptop by USB.
If there is any definitive answer to solving this problem, can someone please help me ASAP?

i'm having the same problem. it's been in step 1 for two days. I tried stopping it and nothing. please let me know if you had a solution on this issue.

  • ITune Match Step 3 is stuck. What can I do next?

    Hi:
I subscribed iTune match and it is completed for step 1 and step 2, then it is always uploading artwork and remaining songs until now. It keep going about 3 three days. What do exactly I do next?
Besides, I use my iPad2 and enabled iTune match function but it displays one message after lauched Music and I pressed the OK item, it would exchange to App store and showed one page to check if you want to add this device. However, unfortunately I press that item, it is not working.
How can I do? Please give me your suggestion. My email is [email protected]

I don't know that getting stuck on step 3 is necessarily the same problem, sounds like on that step you can just quit out of it and it picks up where it left off.
Nope, not here at least.  I get into step 3 and it will upload a batch of songs and then, for no apparent reason, it will just freeze, after which I stop, restart and it begins the entire process from step 1.  Every single time.  In its defense, however, I have to say that each time it's found more stuff to match.  But I'd rather run through Match again after the initial batch has been uploaded, because this is maddening.  Both days now I've left for work with it running, thinking it would be finished when I got home and I come home to it frozen just a bit further than I left it.

  • I have a solution (albiet time consuming) to iTunes match step 3 crashing

So I've been a iTunes Match subscriber for about 6 months. At first it took me a few goes of it to get it down to about only 350 songs needing to be uploaded in Step 3.... Then the REAL frustration began.... From that point forward no matter what I tried I could NEVER get past Step 3. As soon as Step 2 finished and step 3 began, iTunes would crash. So for the past 5 months I have been unable to get those 350 songs uploaded. It wouldn't even do just one then crash. I was frustrated but after looking I could do without having access too those 350 songs at all times. But then there WAS a song that I HAD to have access too and the frustration began again. I tried EVERYTHING I could find on the internet. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, turning Match off then on, deleting errored files (I only had 4). Playing with router settings, everything. I noticed a lot of people wondering about having music on external hard drives even which mine is. (I will say from experience if your using a USB hub to connect your external hard drives, try connecting them directly into your computers USB port to speed things up a bit).  Then I started reading about people having success converting one troublesome song or two to ACC, deleting the old version, then "manually" right clicking on them and clicking "add to iCloud" My issue was that this option was NEVER available to me when I right clicked the songs in iTunes! Plus some of the 350 songs were already in ACC format. Tonight, after playing around I've found a round about way (and time consuming if your doing this for 350 songs like me, feel bad to those who have THOUSANDS) to finally get these songs to upload to iTunes Match. Here is what I did, and I REALLY hope this can help someone else.
#1. When you first open iTunes, you notice in the top/middle info window that iTunes attempts to connect to the iTunes store, AND iTunes match tries to do its thing as well. AS SOON AS YOU OPEN ITUNES, click the small little X next to the progress indicator inside that info window until ALL acivities have stopped.
#2. Make sure you have the "iCloud Status" sort turned on
#3. Sort your song list in iTunes by the iCloud Status Look down the list until you get to where all of your "waiting" songs are at
#4. Select a small managable group (10 worked best for me, more than that would sometimes cause errors and I would have to redo them)
#5. Right click on the selected group and then select "convert to ACC"
#6 DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING ELSE AFTER 'convert to ACC"
#7 Once this completes you will hear the normal "ding" that iTunes is finished
#8. The original files will still be selected with the new ACC versions below each one, not selected. Hit your delete key.(You only want to keep the newly converted ACC files) Also, EVEN IF A FILE WAS PREVIOUSLY ACC, STILL SELECT IT FOR THIS CONVERT TO ACC PROCESS!!!!! If itunes asks if you want to delete these and move to the recycle bin, do so, as you now have another copy that seems to play well with iTunes.
#9 Now you have the 10 recently converted to ACC songs... Select those ten, right click on them then the "Add to iCloud" option (which for me was the first time I had ever gotten to see it at all)
#10 iTunes Match should now begin the process of trying to match JUST THOSE SELECTED songs, then upload whatever is needed. Using this system, I HAVE YET to run across iTunes or iTunes match, hanging up, or crashing all together.
I know this is a bit time consuming, and you COULD do this just for the songs you REALLY wanted to make sure were in the Cloud if you wish. My thought was if I'm going to do it, I might as well do them all.
I REALLY hope this will help someone as I have read so many forum posts, websites, ect, with people just as frustrated as me. And it even made it more frustrating as I had seen new "solutions" posted online yet said solutions still wouldn't work for me.  If you have any questions, please feel free to comment and I'll try to answer and help!

  • ITunes Match - Step 2 creates Unresponsive iTunes

I have read multiple threads about this issue, but I am hoping someone can give me the newest solution or work-around to fix my problem.
I am trying to upload my iTunes library (9020 songs) to iTunes Match.  When it gets to Step Two, it freezes around 8,684 songs of 8708 that are found to be matched.  I continue to let the beachball spin, assuming it was still scanning, even if the application was unresponsive, but, it never moves to Step 3.
I have tried every suggestion seen in previous posts.  I have started with updating the Genius Match.  I have disabled/reenabled the internet connection.  Starting in Safe Mode.  Nothing gets me past Step 2.  I have also reviewed all the potential 'questionable' songs (audiobooks, mpeg files, low quality, etc) and tried to remove and restarting the Match process.  Same results.
I have to Force Quit iTunes, restart, immediately turn off iTunes Match (because it will start scanning as it launches and subsequently freeze again) and then Turn On iTunes Match again.  But, again, it locks up so close to the end of Step 2.
Does anyone have a way to fix this problem?
    Thank you!
    KC3Dogs

How long are you waiting between force quits? Step 2 can take several days to complete. The matching of my library with 22000 songs took more than two weeks. Let the match run over night without interrupting. It will depend on how busy the iTunes Store is. When everybody has just updated iTunes, it is not a good time to start matching a new library.
You seem to have tried really all things that can help to ensure that the match is successful. You have not mentioned your Energy Saver settings. To prevent timeouts, set the Energy Saver so, that the mac will not fall asleep during the matching.

  • Another iTunes Match Step 3 upload question

iTunes Match keeps failing on Step 3: Uploading artwork and remaining songs.
It completes steps 1 and 2, but then shortly after it starts step 3, my cable modem acts as if it has lost connectivity (lights go dim), Airport Extreme goes blinky yellow, and then both recover. If they can recover before iTunes Match times out, then the process continues; otherwise, the Stop button changes to Start, and I have to start over from step 1. The last attempt was a relatively big one--I got 67 items to upload.
My cable modem/Airport Extreme work flawlessly otherwise; this happens only during Step 3. I removed and reapplied power to both the cable modem and Airport Extreme, and I restarted the computer. What is going on here, and is there any way to keep iTunes Match from timing out (can the timeout interval be changed)?
Why is it necessary to keep repeating steps 1 and 2? The software should know where to resume. I have 4800 items to upload, and this is going to take forever. Not a good impression.

More information. I'm directly connected to cable modem (and have been), so Airport Extreme is not in the picture, other than that it's still running for my iPad and iPhone to connect to the Interwebs.
Whenever Match stops when trying to upload a song, I find the album and delete it. Then I start over. I now have half of my connection matched and a very small part of the rest uploaded. If I keep deleting albums, I guess my problem will be solved because there will be nothing to upload. I don't think this is how Match is supposed to work.
It's been all of a day since I signed up, and I've spent hours trying to resolve this. Is there any documentation beyond the feeble "Troubleshooting iTunes Match" document? It's not crashing, so I don't have any errors to refer to. It just hangs and then stops.

  • ITunes Match step 3 freezing!!!

Every time I get to the third step of iTunes match it freezes on the first upload. It does not give me any error messages but simply says waiting. What is wrong? I have waited for hours and nothing has happened.

Try to exit iTunes and restart, you might have lost connection to the service without noticing.

  • ITunes Match Step 3 Issues - Resolved

This was posted in another thread but I wanted to document it here.
I am in Canada using Rogers and my internet provider. My iTunes match process runs perfectly until step 3, where iTunes starts uploading missing files and artwork.
This process only ever got 1-2 songs uploaded then the connection would be broken. I followed all the other workarounds including looking through my collection for long, imporperly coded and glitchy cuts and then deleteing them to no avail. I would ahve to keep starting the process over and over to get 2 songs at a time uploaded. I was really starting to worry about the disk I have my files on thrashing about all day crashing on me.
Turns out its ROGERS (go figure) that is the problem.
On a lark (and becuase of a previous post on this regarding Verizon in the US) I hooked my iPhone (Bell) up to my computer and disconnected it from my Rogers internet connection. Once the tether was in place uploads started right up and are contnuing with no isses whatsoever (now at 63 and counting). THANK GOD I have a 6GB plan fom Bell. It's going to turf my data allotment for the month, but at least I can get Match working. I should send Rogers the bill for my overages.
I will be calling Rogers later today to follow up. I have included a screen capture of the ports in question (made with a freware utility called CurrPorts), the connections to the amazonaws.com servers are dropped by Rogers in some kind of traffic shaping effort.
I will report back here with any result I have from them on why they are doing this (tho I doubt the guys we get on the phone have a clue about such things. They are taken on at a much higher, much more evil level )

Here is the screen capture. The ports can run from the low 50's to mid 60's and it's the connections to the amazonaws.com cloud servers that are getting terminated by Rogers.

  • ITunes Match Step 3 doesn't load,  Windows Closes iTunes.  Solution?

Since October 27, 2013 have not been able to get all 3 steps of the iTunes Match to complete.  Steps 1 & 2 load correctly and a green check mark appears for each.  However, when things move to Step 3 an error message immediately appears that indicates "iTunes has stopped working", and Windows closes iTunes.
My laptop is running Window 7.  Apple Tech Support had me uninstall all components of iTunes and then (re)load the latest version on my laptop.  All music in my iTunes library has always played correctly on my iPod Classic.  (Note: the iPod Classic has not been synced sinced the problems with the iTunes Match load surfaced as I am fearful of corrupting what's there.  Which also means all recent iTunes store purchases cannot be played on the iPod classic until it sync'd.)  Accessing the iTunes music library on the iPod Touch shows that some tracks are greyed out and not available which seems consistent with the failure of Step 3 to load.  Need help.  Thanks.

    Hi,
Try holding shift key whilst turning off match. This will clear genius / match cache. Close iTunes then reopen. Turn on match, you will be asked to add this computer, do so and let process complete.
You should also add iCloud status column to song view - menu > view > view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, duplicate or inelligible. It will show tracks that have not been processed  as "waiting". If you have any such tracks, one or more may be preventing completion. You may need to remove such tracks and gradually readd until match processes them. This may help identify problem tracks.

  • Itunes match step 2

I'm having major issues trying to transfer my itunes my from my pc to my new imac.
tried migration assistant and couldnt find any of the files, tried direct copying and it couldnt seem to find any files upon playing, then via homeshare but not copied any metadata for the files, so finally thought i would give match a try. the problem now is that it keeps hanging on the same number 17315/17334 in step 2. tried reatarting a couple of times. turned off imatch, turned off and on genuis. nothing sees to work. getting realyy hacked off now. any ideas?

Whilst the solution certainly works, unless the Songs concerned are re-purchased from the iTunes Store attempts at recovering them cause the Step 2 stall to recur.
The issue appears still to be with the Apple infrastructure since even trying to restore a previously 'matched' Song causes the stall.
As an illustration, the example below shows a Song from Jet that had been successfully matched.  The 'get info' to  the left is that for the newly re-purchased Song, the 'get info' on the right is for the previously 'matched' Song.
    Example:
At present the previously 'matched' Song in the iCloud is shown as available for download, however, it is greyed out allowing neither download or play.  With the local version of the Song removed iTunes Match completes Step 2, attempting to restore the local file causes Step 2 to stall - this despite successfully playing the Song in iTunes in its originally 'matched' state earlier this morning.
Whilst we can use the solution to restore iTunes Match to working order at least for current and new Songs, it appears we will have to wait for a solution from Apple before existing Songs will complete the matching process.  All indications are that we will need to allow several days for the current high loading on the Apple infrastructure to ease.

  • Itunes match stuck at collecting information

Since a few weeks (prior to itunes 11, but still present after upgrading) iTunes starts everytime after launching with "collecting information about your library" (the first step when you enable itunes match) and gets stuck. This was after itunes matcg disabled itself and I switched it on again. I have waited for a week now, nothing happens. I use the same account on another computers, everything fine. I de-authorized the computer with the problem, authorized again: no change.
iTunes match worked fine on the computer, with the same account. What could be the problem?

I've been having this problem for the past week and a half. I finally got one song to match the other day and was happy. I just want a match or an upload, because I want it on my phone. I dont want to have to disable match on my phone just to put my songs on it.
Today (6/3/2012) I have been trying to get an album to upload. I left the room (stuck on "sending to apple") and came back after dinner. When I came back the songs were everywhere, (uploaded, matched) but thats ok, it dosent matter. I tried downloading them on my phone and just got an error with 3/4 the album "Unable to download.etc.. etc...".
I tried encoding the album to AAC 256 since AAC is apparently a lot more friendly with iTunes Match (note ALAC songs not uploading) and I'm trying again. Still stuck on "sending to apple"..
    HIGHLY FRUSTRATING.
Oh I also forgot to mention, I have had to put songs onto my phone using goodreader, since again... my library is frozen (as in, stuck with what I have downloaded) on my phone with itunes match being down.
