ITunes Match Unknown albums

Hi everybody,
I'm experiencing some small issues after subscribing for iTunes Match.
1) Some songs are not matched. I'm wandering if this can be sorted out by providing more precise information (e.g. album) or if iTunes just take an audio snapshot of each song so there's no way to improve the match.
2) Some songs are matched but iTunes Match labels them as Unknown album. How is it possibile if they are matched with the iTunes Store? And how to fix this issue? Do I have to look for the album by myself and type it?
Thanks a lot
FR

1. Yes, some songs will not match but will be uploaded. There is very little that can be done to force this process. You might want to visit the iTunes Match forum, do a search, and see if you want to try out any of the tips you find for forcing a track to match. There is no guarantee any of them will work, though.
2. Applying metadata from the iTunes Store is not a feature of the iTM service. If you did not have metadata before enabling the service you won't get it from the store after enabling it. If the tracks are ripped from CD you can try searching the gracenote DB by highlighting the tracks, right-clicking and choose "get track names." But this does not always work. Otherwise, if you know the information for the "unknown" tracks you're better off just entering it yourself.

  • ITunes Match unknown error -50

Today I tried to upload an mp3 track to iTunes and from there to iTunes Match.
iTunes Match has now stopped working and is giving me the error "We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occured (-50)."
I'm on a laptop (Hewlett Packard Pavilion g6) running Windows 7. My antivirus program is Norton Internet Security. My iTunes version is 10.7.0.21 (I can't stand iTunes 11, sorry).
I've tried signing in and out, restarting iTunes, restarting my computer, etc.
What puzzles me is that when I do an internet search on Error -50, the general response is that it has to do with downloading purchased songs from iTunes. But I wasn't trying to do that. Despite the error message, it wasn't an iTunes store request, it was iTunes Match!
    What's going on?

Apple appears to be having trouble with the iTunes Store servers right now. Wait for them to fix it.

  • Itunes Match deletes albums and artwork from the base PC

I use Windows Seven and have immaculate metadata on all songs.  No albums are broken up and everything works perfectly.  When I tried to use the itunes match feature, a bunch of old albums that I imported from the original CD's were deleted.  In addition, about 30% of my album art disappeared and could not be seen in the "get info" window for each of those albums.
Luckily, I made a backup of itunes prior to turning on and purchasing the match service. I fixed this problem as follows:  I deleted my itunes folder, removed itunes and icloud from my computer, downloaded itunes and reinstalled it. Everything works like it did before I started.  Everything was restored. I immediately went to the itunes store menu and made sure that itunes match was not turned on.  I was pleased to see that it wasn't. In other words, I was worried it would know my Apple ID and turn itself on but it didn't.  I would like my 25 dollars back but I'm so happy that the debacle was averted, I'll write this one off.
The big point here is that Match can delete albums and artwork.  In my case, 99% of the albums were from the original CD's.  My reason for purchasing the expensive CD's is to have possession of the original wav files. You might be interested to know that the artwork that was missing was pretty big, usually about 500 x 500 pixels, so maybe that's why Match couldn't deal with it.  I don't know if this problem occurs when all of your music is purchased directly from Apple.
The moral of this story: if you back everything up beforehand and this happens to you, it is easily fixed with minimal effort.

same here... no matter if iOS5 or iOS6... When you set up iTunes Match from the scratch it looks just perfect, with all the album art. But then after some days, album art begins to disappear...
Some of them come back when you open the album and close it again - some won't. And even if you got it back - it just disappears again!
Another very annoying bug ist, that albums get torn apart. I see too albums of some of mine and they both show a part of the original album. And it's definetly no an issue with bad ID3 Tags or somethin like that. It happens with purchased music from the iTunes Store too!
I really hoped Apple was going to fix this issues - i'm using it since day one, so almost a year now. And nothing changed!
I don't think I'm going to renew my subscription.

  • ITunes Match "Unknown" Error

I wanted to upload some songs my match, but it wouldn't let me, so I found an article online telling me to delete my "apple.com" cookies then signed back into my account but it would constantly ask me to sign in, and it would't stop asking me to, even though my password was correct. So now my computer does not let me sign into my match.
    Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10

I had this problem also and tried a few more troubleshooting steps (none of which worked), but they might help someone.
Sign out of Apple Id in iTunes, then sign back in
Turn on iTunes Match <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
Turn off/on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
    Quit iTunes
Go into Finder -> Music and rename the "iTunes" folder to "iTunes Backup"
Hold down Option key while clicking on the iTunes icon to start it (this asks you to create a new iTunes library)
Created a new iTunes folder (Music -> iTunes)
Sign into Apple Id in iTunes, then turn on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
Physically walk to another iMac and sign into iTunes and turn on iTunes Match while holding the Option Key <-- didn't work, still had 4010 error
At this point, after having tested on multiple iMacs, I figured that the problem was not with my local iTunes, but something larger (on Apple's end).
Apparently, if you can't access iTunes Match on multiple computers, then the problem could be with your account and you will need to contact Apple Support.  I ended up describing my situation on the support page here - https://getsupport.apple.com/, and had them call me.  I spoke to Anastasia and she had to bump me up to another technician, Brandon.  He suggested that I delete the Album from iTunes...but alas, I cannot get access to the album to delete it without iTunes Match working.
Brandon finally spoke with an Engineer and they said that the issue was on my Apple Id Account and that they'd have to place the account into troubleshooting mode (which means giving Apple access to your account) so that they could figure out the problem.  Of course, I wanted this fixed, so I let them.  I'll hear back in 3-4 days what the engineers find.

  • ITunes Match Unknown Error (4010)

Does anyone know how to solve the "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (4010.)" when trying to set up iTunes Match? It almost went through once but froze at step 3. Now I'm just getting this error above at the end of step 1.
I currently only can see maybe 2/3rds of my iTunes library in the cloud. Some appear to be matches, some are uploads, however not everything is up there. I've tried restarting the match process to no success.
I've e-mailed apple, but the e-mail I got back directed me to these forums.
    - I've checked the xml file and it appears to be fine
    - I've turned off all other iOS devices/AppleTV
    - I've checked for 'dead songs'
    - Tried looking for a weird 'square' in my meta tags
    - There are songs waiting to upload, but don't. (meet all requirements like being over 96k bit rate, etc.)
If the answer has been posted somewhere on here, please let me know. I feel I've done a fairly thourough search on here but unfortunately have not found any solutions yet.
    Thanks,
    -Mike

    I'm having the same problem.
I started the iTunes Match process on Monday and everything started off with smooth sailing. Over 11,000 songs were matched and the other 4,000 were being uploaded into the cloud. Sometime Wednesday night, iTunes crashed unexpectedly and I have been getting the 4010 error ever since. I had 2,000 songs left to upload into the cloud.
    I've:
    - Ran Software Update.
    - Repaired Disk Permissions.
    - Reset PRAM & SMC.
    - Reinstalled iTunes.
    - Checked for Dead Tracks.
    - Validated the XML file the iTunes Library resides in.
    - Re-created the XML file for the iTunes Library.
    - Wiped my entire iTunes library.
I'm still getting that darn 4010 error the moment Step 1 is about to complete.
I've sent off two very detailed emails to iTunes and this is the first response I got back:
"I understand that your iTunes Match has stopped working for your account. I know you must be eager to have this taken care of. I am so sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. My name is John from the iTunes Store and I will do my best to help you.
Apple's engineers are currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available.
Thank you so much for your patience. Apple wants your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible.
    Have a great day."
So, um, it looks like there's no fix at the moment.

  • ITunes Match loses albums

I've had iTunes Match for a little under a year - and have about 10,000 tracks in the libary.
However, every now & again, I notice that iTunes and/or iTunes Match has completely deleted an album.  Albums that have been in "Match" as I know I've listened to them in the last 9 months, but have all of a sudden vanished.
I've search support, and can't see this particular issue - but it's really really annoying!  Particularly when I've binned the original CD.   Anyone else have this issue?
    I'm missing about 9 or 10 albums - and that's just the one's I can think of!

    Hi,
This is not a problem I have encountered. iTunes match does not touch what is on your hard drive although I had an album removed from the cloud - the tracks were still on my hard drive but iCloud status was shown as remove. These tracks were purchased from iTunes store and I was able to redownload.
Is it possible that you deleted them in error. I know from experience where I thought I had deleted one track but in actual fact deleted all songs for a specific artist. Fortunatlely I was able to restore from backs ups.
Do you have back ups from which you can restore your missing tracks.

  • Itunes match sync album art work problem and poor quality art work issue

    Hi There,
I have two issues with apple itunes and itunes match:
I seem to have a number of albums with poor quality artwork, now i have gone through the removed downloaded artwork and the right click and select the art work toggle box to remove the art work, after doing this I then ask to get the album cover from Itunes indervidually and high quality art work is down loaded and looks great for around 10-20 minutes then it seems to update slowley and revert to the old poor quality art work. Any Ideas? A simular thing that happens is that some art work that ive added manually is deleted. I have also gone into the itunes folder and deleted the album art work folder to force it to download new art work. Is there any way to lock in the art work that you know is good?
Itunes match after making changes to itunes albums I have then updated itunes match and my work is undone? This maybe complaations or album coers any ideas.
I am using itunes version 11.01
I have looked through the forum and read meany feeds about album covers but I havent found one that is reverting covers.
    Many thanks guys

    You haven't been singled out.

  • ITunes Match unknown error (-54)

I did the update for OS X and therefore iTunes that was released yesterday, and everything went smooth.
Then today I opened iTunes for the first time after the update, and for the first time I got this error:
If I click OK it tries again, but the error appears again, and so on...
Until I click on the little X and stop the iTunes Match process, but that means that it doesn't do its work in the end!
What's happening? It never happened before, I've been using Match for a year and it's always worked fine.
I've just two days ago renewed my subscription, which was 28€, so I wouldn't want for it to stop working after this iTunes update!
Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
    Thanks for your help.

    Now I also get this:

  • Album Artwork Screen saver and iTunes Match

Since joining iTunes Match, my Album Artwork Screen saver can't find any art. How do I fix this?
The artwork is evident within iTunes, but the screen saver is a black screen with a message saying that it can't find any album artwork.

    I have exactly the same.
Screensaver settings says: "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork" which is simply lie! ;-)
    almost all artwork is there
    newest iTunes 10.5.3 (3) 64-bit
    Lion with all add-ons
not long ago I have joined iTunes Match.. unfortunately haven't checked if it works before for long time..
I have: repaired permissions, removed com.apple.screensaver. iTunesArtwork* in ~Library/Preferences/ByHost/.
    Still nothing.
I have found that ~/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/ has 4 directories inside:
    Cache
    Cloud
    Download
    Local
.. first 3 had random named dir (the same) with what seems to be artworks directories. Local was empty still copying there this random dir didn't help too..
    Any ideas please?

  • ITunes Match albums view completely wrong (only on iPad)

    Hi guys!
So for quite some time now I am having a big problem with my iTunes Match:
The albums view is completely f*cked up!
ALL albums I have show up under EVERY letter (meaning: To reach "B" after "A" I already scrolled through _all_ my albums)
Wrong songs show up in wrong albums
Number of songs per album is completely wrong
    ... and other things
This whole thing is really annoying as I have 3k songs in my iTunes Match lib.
    Important:
Deactivating and then Re-activating iTunes Match does NOT help.
ONLY occurs on my iPad 4! On Mac & Win and also on my iPhone 5 it is fine.
I didn't have this problem on iOS 6.
On another note (just my 2 cents):
iTunes Match altogether is _very_ buggy and I am having a lot of small problems with it! :/ (one being Step 1 takes about 30mins each time on my Windows PC)
    Can anybody help?!
    Thanks! Cheers, P

    I tried that as well!
    Didn't change anything! :/
I also tried deleteing these files on my iPad:
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-shm
    MediaLibrary.sqllitedb-wal
Then did a hard reboot! Also no change!
What is weird that when I swtich on 'order by artists' (or whatever this optin is called in English) the ordering of the Albums (by artists - obviously) works proplery and the right songs show up in the right albums.
Oh gosh I hate this iTunes Match thingy. Problems all over the place since release now.

  • ITunes Matched an (obscure) Album NOT in Store - What's Going On?

So I added an album to my iTunes that I was sure was not in the store, and it wasn't - it's a rare instrumental version of somewhat-rare album, and definitely out of print regardless, eBay has 1 copy for $83 - however iTunes "Matched" it all, and didn't "Uploaded" it...
So my question is this, is it either:
    1) iTunes just uploaded my files and mistakingly indicated the album was Matched and not Uploaded?
    2) iTunes matched my album with ANOTHER user's version already uploaded?
    or
    3) iTunes really does have the album in their database, just not in their store, and they are indeed matching my album to their files and letting me download nice 256k versions to other iOS devices??
I would appreciate any input or thoughts, I didn't see this situation listed anywhere else...
    Thanks,

    Interesting, Thanks.
I also tried to verify this by purposefully introducing some artifacts into a track, then adding it to iTunes Match again, "Matched" not "Uploaded", then downloading the matched copy to check, and sure enough there was no artifact. So it's either NOT just a version of my uploaded copy, as we think, or it was my previously saved upoloaded copy since I matched it with iTunes a second time, or it's someone elses...
I think the best explanation is like you describe, they have tracks in their database available for match that they do not make available in the store.
Anyone else experience something like this?

  • Album art is 1 song off after itunes match

Ever since I signed up for iTunes Match, the album art is 1 song off on the TV display. The song info is correct but the album art is from the previous song.  I have rebooted the Apple TV several times to no avail.  The correct album art is shown on the Apple TV menu screen brfore the screen saver kicks in and displays the wrong album art.  Any ideas.

  • Several issues with iTunes Match

I recently bought the iTunes Match service. And I've run into several issues here.
    1) The music in my library was purchased months ago with another Apple ID that I've forgotten. They're all currently available on iTunes Store with the same content (I've verified this). But when I tried to match these songs, 10 percent of them failed. For example, when I attempted matching Beyonce's self-titled album, which I bought on the day of its release, only "Pretty Hurts" successfully matched. The others are all in "Uploaded" status. This is very confusing.
    2) I understand that recently there're a lot of songs being upgraded into "Mastered For iTunes" version. But some tracks (shown in Matched status) in my library were downloaded a long time ago and don't carry that quality. So I deleted the local copies of them, and re-downloaded from iCloud. But then the songs remain to be the original version instead of the updated ones. For example, in Lana Del Rey's album "Born To Die", songs like "Born To Die" "Video Games" "Blue Jeans" "Dark Paradise" all don't carry the "Mastered For iTunes" logo after my attempt.
    3) Before I turned on iTunes Match, all albums carry the option "Show Complete Album" (I rarely purchase the entire album, usually I just pick songs to buy). But after I re-downloaded the entire library, that option is missing. All I see is this.
I've been upsetting with these problems these days. It would be really helpful if any of you guys have some solutions. Thank you.

When I went to restore my phone, I may have found the cause of these problems. I never deleted all of my original synced songs before enabling iTunes Match.
When I just went to do the restore, I figured I'd delete all of my songs, then disable iTunes Match. After deleting about 3.5 GB of music and disabling iTunes Match, I ran the sync to backup my iPhone. It said there was still 2.2 GB of music. I checked my phone just in case and there was 2.2 GB there, probably the original synced songs that I never removed.
Anyway, I'm doing the restore now just in case and will respond tomorrow with how everything is working.

  • Library all messed up (itunes match?)

    Hello,
My library seems to have been totally re(dis)organised by itunes match. Albums have been split into several albums - often by artist. Audio books seem to be in pieces all over the place and never in order. I have no idea where to start. It's across all my devices. Can anyone offer help- I can't find a thread that seems to be quite the same on here. and cant help thinking it's something simple. Many thanks.

This also happened to me earlier this month. I wasn't quite sure how or what happened as I was doing a lot of updating all at once between my PC and my macbook, but essentially my library became entirely screwed on both computers when all was said and done. I tried to just redownload everything from the cloud, and it was all completely wrong. The audio files were still there, but they were all labeled incorrectly. After a few hours in the store and then on the phone I gave up since they couldn't fix it in the store and couldn't even comprehend what I was saying on the phone. Luckily it was only my oldest music that was messed up (ironically all the music I physically owned on CD), so I pulled an older backup and manually reloaded the newer stuff and got everything back the way it should be.
Since I actually wanted to use match for my macbook and iphone I decided to make a new backup and then give match another shot. Aaaaaaaand it completely rewrote my entire library again. 2901 of ~15000 songs were aimlessly relabled as different songs and thrown into different folders. So now I'm restoring it from backup yet again and trying my hardest to purge any possible connection with this awful service. Side note: I used match for a year when it first came out and it worked fairly well.
Just to complete the experience, I was told that I could just use the "report a problem" button to get a refund. That of course doesn't work, it only appears to work for actual content purchases. It gave me an error when I tried it on my match purchase and I just had to spend 30 minutes on the phone (and apple tries really hard to prevent you from actually talking to a person) to get a refund/cancel my subscription.
Been using a mac and itunes since 2004 and this has me seriously considering moving away from apple.
