ITunes Match used on 2 Users on same Mac

I am using since the beginning very successful iTunes Match with several devices like Mac Mini, iPhone(s), MacBook Air, etc.! Everything works fine.
Now my kids are getting older and I like them to use my MacBook Air more independently. Therefore I setup a new user for the children ("Children") with some limitations (like web pages to be viewed, etc.).
Now my challenge:
- with my main user on that MacBook Air, I am already linked to iTunes Match and everything works fine
- as I currently have only 4 devises linked to iTunes Match, my plan was to link the new, second user ("Children") of the MacBook Air to iTunes Match, too.
Unforuntately this does not seem to work. Everytime I want to activate this "User", it tells me, that this "Computer" is already linked to iTunes Match.... what in general is correct, but I want now to sync my music library to this second user account, too.
Any ideas?

Hmm... this is a bit technical,

  • How can I use iTunes Match on two different accounts on same computer?

What happens if I enable iTunes Match in a different account on my Mac Pro.  I am already set up with iTunes Match because I was travelling and I wanted to use my iPhone on the road but not fill up the storage.  I turned off iTunes Match in my primary account (user of course) becuase I have all the "original" music in that library. I have another account though that I would also like to be able to use just some of the music at different times.  I have a separate account for using Final Cut Pro X.
So, would ITunes Match be the solution I am looking for?  iCloud status gives me all of the music I have purchased but it is short about 800 music files.

I know that.  When I talk of accounts I mean user accounts on the Mac Pro.  I am looking for a solution that wil keep iTunes libraries, playlist, etc insync between two user accounts on the computer.

  • ITunes Match - Two Apple IDs but the Same Person

So before the days of iCloud, I originally used my AOL email as my Apple ID. Then when I signed up for iCloud, I started using my .Mac email as my new Apple ID. Today, I just signed up for iTunes Match using my .Mac Apple ID. Somehow throughout this process my iPhone stayed under my AOL Apple ID. Now my phone is telling me I have to wait 90 days before the "new" Apple ID takes affect and I will then be able to use Match. I have just spent $25 for something I can't even use for 90 days?!?! Really?
As you can imagine, I'm very frustrated because I know this is a simple mistake. I'm worried I just spent $25 for a full year and the first 3 months of that year will go to waste. Can anyone help me? A number I can call? Anything? I'm the same person, paying for music and apps with the same bank account! My Apple IDs just got mixed up.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the link, but no luck.
They told me that there is absolutely no way to waive the 90 day waiting period regardless if am the same person or not. The only reason I have a new Apple ID was because I assumed I had to make a new Apple ID when I signed up for iCloud. At the end of day, it was my fault but I wish I knew I never had to make a new Apple ID. I would have just stayed with my “old” AOL Apple ID.
With that said, I still think it is ridiculous they can’t waive the 90 day waiting period. I’m the same person! I just have two Apple IDs, and the only reason I have two Apple IDs to begin with was because I felt mislead by Apple’s iCloud. It’s not like I’m trying to share my music illegally with my friends or another person. Its all the same money coming from the same person...me!
Being a die-hard Apple consumer for almost 10 years and convincing my entire family to switch to Mac, today I feel very disappointed in Apple.

Copy the movie from the current library to the correct library.
iDevices can only sync to one library at a time.

  • CAN YOU PURCHASE ITUNES MATCH USING AN ITUNES VOUCHER CREDIT?

can you purchase/subscribe to itunes match using itunes voucher credit?

Because itunes match is a yearly subscription, you must use a credit card.

  • Is there a way to sign up on iTunes Match using your credit from the iTunes store? I don't carry a C.C.

I dont carry a C.C. and im wondering if there was a way to subscribe to iTunes Match using my credit on the iTunes store. Anyone have any info?

I believe the answer is no, although if you were able to visit an Apple store you might be able to work something out there.  You can use credit I think, but the problem is they still need a credit card number on file to process the purchase.

  • ITunes open in multiple accounts on the same Mac

I have a family of 3, and I'd like to use different accounts on the same Mac to sync for each.  However, I like to only use one of the account for my apple tv.  What I discovered is if I have more than 1 instance of iTunes 10.5 running, home share breaks on apple tv.
Also, is it possible to lock an i-device to a particular instance of iTunes on the machine?
    Thanks in advance

After reading this and several other related threads, I am becoming thoroughly confused about all of this. I have a situation similar to the one that pokerpal described in the post dated January 7 at 8:06 pm, except that the music files on my system are located on an external hard drive. Everything else is pretty much the same though - I am the admin user (and the main iTunes user and maintainer) and my girlfriend is a standard user who has no music in her own iTunes library. She can see and listen to and make playlists from and sync her iPod with the music in this library from her account, and I can do the same thing, independent of her, from my account. And if I make a change to information within a song, she doesn't see it, and vice versa, and I understand that. What I don't understand is why when I add a song or an album to the music files by importing a CD or downloading something from the iTunes Music Store, she has no way of knowing that unless I tell her, and then she can add it to her library by using the "Add to Library" function. Is there no way of automatically updating her library files to add the new song(s)? We have almost 15,000 songs and videos in that library, and I don't even want to think about what might have to happen if the answer to my question is "no." Interestingly enough, if I put an update to a Word document in the same exact location (on the hard drive), we can update that and pass it back and forth all day - why is that such a difficult task for iTunes to accomplish?
Sorry I went on so long, but this has been building up for some time, and none of the solutions I've read about here have really been of any help, so I'm a bit frustrated and, as I said at the beginning, confused.

  • How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac?

How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac? Seems this should be a preferences choice.

When you share your library between users, you may run into permission and ownership problems, if both users are editing the Aperture library and not only reading it. To avoid that, it helps to put the Aperture library onto a separate disk or a separate partion of your hard drive. For s separate partition or disk you can enable the "ignore ownership on this volume" flag. Then all users can access the library as owners of this library.
You might try to put the aperture library into a shared folder on your mac, but that has caused problems recently, i.e. when the library also contains video files.

  • Users on same mac using the same itunes library

How can i allow another user on my mac access my library on their itunes, without copying all my tunes to shared folder, i.e, can change privileges to allow them access?
    cheers

Not sure I know what you mean. From an administrator account you can give whatever privileges (I think you're talking about permissions) you would like. Navigate to the folder through Finder from the Admin account and use Command + i to Get Info on the folder. Set user permissions to whatever level you want the other user to have. If you want them to have full access and ability to add or delete files, set Permissions to Read AND Write. If you only want them to be able to use files and not make any changes, set Permissions to Read ONLY.

  • ITunes match tracks different volumes from the same album

Using iTunes Match.  Among other reported problems, after downloading Matched tracks to my master iTunes library to replace lower bitrate versions, the new tracks from the same album have different loudness or volumes between the tracks.  Is this because iTunes Match is matching the songs to different versions of the same album?  Where some albums have been 'remastered' or such, that the recorded volume between the albums is different?  But instead of matching tracks to the same version of the album, some are being matched to different versions of the same album?
Quite offputting to listen to a single album where track to track loudness changes suddenly.
PS, I'm not using SoundCheck on my Mac.

Same problem here. I'm an "album" kind of music fan and when I'm listening matched albums that the sound quality and voulme changes I get really put off. Case in point B-52's self-titled album: tracks 1,2, 5 & 7, nice and loud; 3, 4, 6, 8 & 9 tiny sounding in comparison...Hello?  So far iTunes Match is not worth my money. I'd like to hear form an Apple iTunes Match repersentative to know if this issue will be resolved. As it is, is not very useful. Please fix the problem. Also many of my albums show that a track or a few will not be matched but uploaded to the cloud which means more of my albums will be spotty sounding as tracks will have different bit rate, etc. There is no real excuse for not matching whole albums as oppose to single songs. I read somwhere the 'typical" case of the Beatles "Abbay Road" album not matching "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" on most users. I think is silly to say the less. Albums matching not single songs, please!!!

  • Can I pay itunes match using an itunes card or do I need a credit card?

    Hi all!
    I have two questions!
First: I'd like to buy "itunes match" and I have enough itunes credit to buy it, but I'd like to know if itunes will use "itunes credit" or will use my credit card for the payment.
Second: I've tried Google Play before, and I'm not satisfied at all. Google uploads in the cloud the itunes library but the synchronization process doesn't allow to change or modify file: for example, if i change the title or the year of a song, they won't change in the uploaded file, because the synchronization allows only to upload or delete files from the cloud, not modify them.
Is it the same also in Itunes Match or the synchronization is complete such as with an Ipod?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
I think that you can but must continue to have a valid credit card on your account.

  • ITunes Match used for 2 computers?

I am interested in iTunes Match. I am a DJ and I use a Macbook pro for my my primary computer  and a Macbook for a back up. I do not like having to  constantly update my back up computer.  I do not have Lion yet either, so I know I will have to upgrade that as well. I am just trying to way the pros and cons right now.  Will iTunes match work with two computers? I know its primarily for the iphone and ipad. Any help will be appreciated.

  • ITunes Match used all my data after I turned it off; can I get a refund?

    Here's the sequence:
This morning, I had used 700 MB of my 2GB data plan.  I was at home, on wifi, and decided to try turning on iTunes Match on my iPhone 4S.  Again.  Even though the service has seriously made me angry in the week since I got it.
I decided maybe it would work better if I erased all the music on my phone, first, then downloaded everything I wanted to listen to via Match.  So I had it start downloading some songs (again, on wifi) and I turned OFF "use cellphone data" to make sure it wouldn't download stuff over 3G (oh, sorry, 4G).  Then I went out and started listening to it in the car.  I noticed my smart playlists were completely broken (showed the wrong songs, they were braindead smart lists), got irritated again, and turned off iTunes Match.  Then deleted the music (I was still out) and just listened to a podcast.  Again, "Use cell data" was turned off AND SO WAS ITUNES MATCH.
Well, I noticed the data spinner was spinning the entire time I was listening to the podcast, but nothing was being downloaded as far as I could tell, my music database was completely empty, and stayed that way.  Then I checked the iPhone's built in data usage and noticed it had gone UP by 600MB in about a half hour (!!!) and the phone was getting very warm.  So I turned off the phone's "use cell data" completely because I knew something was broken.
Too late.  A little while later (after I got home and was back on wifi) I got a "You've used 65% of your data!" text from AT&T.  Then not 5 minutes later I got a "you have gone over  your 2GB limit" text.  This is not AT&T's fault, so I can't see how I can ask them for the $10 back.  I place this squarely on Apple and their incredibly broken, buggy implementation of iTunes Match.
So, my question: has anyone successfully gotten a refund for iTunes Match?  It is SO broken, it is useless on my phone (yay, 256K for songs I could have converted to 256K myself since I don't actually pirate my music).  The whole reason I got it was so I could get my whole library anywhere.
    Bah.

Yes, folks have gotten refunds even though the TOS says all sales are final. You'll need to contact iTunes Store support and politely make your case that you're just not satisfied with the service.
I've got kind of a radical suggestion, if you want to try it. In cases like you describe a full OS restore, then setting the iPhone up as a new device can fix all these little glitches. It is a lot of trouble, I know, but if you do want to use the service this is one method that should clear it all up for you.
Thank you, it's good to know that Apple does offer refunds.  I want it to work, if it does what I would like the $25 would be more than worth it.
I thought clearing my music and starting up iTunes Match with an empty music library might do the equivalent of a full reset... I can't say I really feel like doing that, and I'm skeptical it would clear up all of the issues I've had (play counts, play lists, album art, data usage when I told it to bloody well not use the data).
    Thanks for the input!
