ITunes match very spotty

iTunes match works off and on, more not than so. All software up to date

I get this too. Pretty annoying. Its kinda like when Pandora stops playing and is waiting for you to click on "I am still listening". I have to click on shuffle again to get it to resume. Also It seems like some of my artwork is gone. Many songs that had artwork dont now...I think...or it could just be I never noticed...
A note.. I am using 3g to play because my work internet *****...and I have unlimited data so could it be the 3G loosing connection pausing the stream? It just never resumes without me interacting with the device.

  • Using iTunes Match, very little album art is showing

I'm using Mavericks on a 2009 unibody (white plastic) Macbook.  This is not my main computer so I'm trying to free up storage space.  I had the idea to delete all of the music files from the Music folder and just use iTunes Match as a streaming service, just like on my iPhone and iPad.  (The music files are stored on my main Mac with multiple redudant backups.)
I may have gotten overzealous in deleting data.  I saw an album art folder with over 1 gigabyte of data and deleted that as well.
Now all of the music still shows up in the Album view - as it should - however very few of the tracks have any album art.  I gave it some time to see if the art would download from iTunes Match, but it's not happening (get album art is enabled in preferences).
I had the idea to hold down the Option key while restarting iTunes and create a new library, then let iTunes Match populate it.  I don't want to download any content, I just want everything to show up with album art.
Will this work, and how would I remove the corrupted library if it does?

Thanks but still no luck I'm afraid.
To update: I have been using itunes 6 from the outset and have always manually updated the ipod - it has never even been switched to automatic as I changed this at the start (advice from a friend). File formats for the affected tracks are all either AIFF or Apple Lossless - same as all the unaffected tracks.
The even stranger thing is that artwork for some albums, where all the tracks were imported manually at the same time, shows for some tracks on the ipod and not others. The artwork does, however, show for all of the tracks on the ipod when viewed through itunes!

  • Constant Re-Logging into iTunes Match

I constantly have to relog into iTunes Match. Even when i do login all i see is grey download arrows. When I close iTunes and relaunch I will then get the download icons that work.  This is REALLY annoying and im starting to not like iTunes match very much.

When I run diagnostics it tells me that a secure connection to iTunes is unsuccessful and not in safe mode and that I'm not an administrator
    Then you're probably not.
but yet I'm the only person to have a user account on this laptop so therefore I am the administrator.
Not necessarily, no. There is an account in Windows actually titled "administrator", distinct from your user account. Your user account may or may not have administrator privileges, depending on what was granted when the account was created.
a secure connection to iTunes is unsuccessful
That usually suggests some sort of firewall, privacy filter, or antivirus/antispyware utility is blocking the connection. This block may be in software on your laptop or in any router through which your Internet connection runs. From your description of your other problems, it definitely sounds like some sort of firewall to me.

  • How do I download songs from iTunes Match for offline or spotty coverage?

I have a 64GB iPhone and want to be able to DOWNLOAD songs from iTunes match for use when I have spotty 3G coverage (or no coverage, or only expensive coverage, or on an airplane). How can I do this? Right now iTunes is not using any of my data storage on my phone for previously downloaded songs for future use (caching).

What you want to do actually has nothing to do with iTunes Match. What you need to do is enable automatic downloads in iTunes. Open iTunes prefs > Store and select the option for, at least, "music" and click OK. Now any music you buy will be downloaded to your iTunes library automatically. But iTunes will need to be running for this to happen.

Csoud1 is correct. But if you still want to keep your iTunes Match subscribed and did not want to sync with your iOS devices, do the following:
On you iOS devices, just go to Setting > Music > disable iTunes Match

  • Very frustrated with itunes match.

I want to cancel this iTunes match. I don’t even remember signing up for this last year but then it showed up on my credit card this year for $24.00. I do not like or understand this service. It has caused me great expense because it removed all my music from my iPhone (4,000) songs and now when I’m at my gym or anywhere there is NO wireless internet service I can’t play any of my songs because apparently it has delete the original files from my iPhone. Why would I want a service like this to delete my songs!? And why would I pay for a service like this just to be frustrated and have more problems!? I want my songs back on my iPhone as I never gave permission to Apple to remove them in the first place. Now I got a large data bill because it’s been downloading music when playing a song from match via cell service when no internet is available. This is a stupid stupid product and as far as I can see worthless and dysfunctional. How do I cancel this service and get my music back? How do I get my songs back, many have been transferred over years of coping CD I’ve paid for. I don’t want to have to copy these again. Shame on you APPLE. I’ve got many apple products and this is very very upsetting.

To cancel the service and ask for a refund you'll need to contact iTunes Store support. To disable the service on iOS devices go to Settings > iTunes and App Store and set "iTunes Match" off (not green in iOS 7). In iTunes pull down the Store menu > Turn off iTunes Match. Now sync your music to your iPhone via USB.

  • Very slow itunes match

    Hi,
Since i signed up to itunes match i experience very slow results, even on wifi and i have a 50 mbps connection.
Downloading songs from the cloud to my ipad or iphone is extremely slow, streaming numbers the same.
I am livinig in the Netherlands, not sure if this something has to do to which server i connect.
Tried already to switch itunes match on and off and to reset my network connections.
    Appreciate if someone can assist.
    Rgds Bernard

I have countless albums that are in fact available in the itunes store and they are still intollerably slow to download, even over a decent wifi connection at 50mb/s max ... my internet is just fine and I'm still having issues with receiving my content from apple's servers. I personally don't think it's an "it's not availble in our archive there for it's not as accesable/fast to retreive" issue.. it's that their server is pathically slow and probaly overloaded with people that paid 25 bucks to store their library in the cloud and are now spending way too long trouble shooting multiple issues.  I for one am taking the upgraded "matched" files and walking. this is the most dissapointing service/product they've come up with.
I spent more time then I'd like to admit manually converting tracks (quite a few that should have matched, some not) in order to even upload compressed AAC 256 content, then tricking itunes into replacing said uploads with my higher quality files locally.. everythiing works well on my desktop and I can delete and redownload my content at the compressed quality and even upgrade certain things, but the service on my mobile devices are thus far usless... lame.

  • ITunes Match downloads very slow over LTE

Hi, I have an iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4. When downloading iTunes Match songs to my phone it is very slow over LTE taking roughly 1 minute per megabyte. Over wifi it is a lot faster taking perhaps less than 20 seconds per track on average. All other data based activity is fast over LTE so the issue does seem to be limited to iTunes Match downloads and is the same whether my music was matched or uploaded to to icloud.
Any fixes/suggestions much appreciated. I have a brand new handset and restored my phone yesterday. I'm on the EE network in London.
    Thank you

    Hello there Caliente78,
Here is some info about troubleshooting the cellular data connection.
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3780
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, orcontact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • ITunes Match matching very slow

I bought and started iTunes Match 12/24/12. It is only ‘matching’ 20 songs per day on average. I only have 3310 to match.
Why is this taking so long. I know one reason is iTunes Match keeps stopping the matching process. Last night it match zero songs. I have to keep restarting it.
At this rate, it will take 165 days. Not cool. I figure if I had the max of 25,000 songs to match it would take 3.4 Years!
I have a 2 year old Mac Pro, 12 GB memory, version 10.8.2.

I believe I have found the answer to why my ‘matching’ process is so slow. It is most likely because my Internet Upload speed is very slow.
I found this out from reading this forum. Under the basic >iTunes >iTunes Match heading, there is a Tab called ‘User Tips’. Excellent source of information. Had I read through that section before I purchased iTunes Match, I may have decided it was not a good choice for me...
Thanks for all the great information.

  • Very slow music download with iTunes match on iOS devices

For some time now I experience very slow performance downloading music with iTunes match on my iOS devices.
Downloading music takes ages now. Not so long ago download music with iTunes match was as fast as buying music from the iTunes Store.
I tried to restore my iPhone but nothing changed.
    The download itself is quite fast but after that the blue progress bar is full and the statut is "en cours" (french) something like busy/ongoing in english . The other tracks have a status wating;
Any idea how to solve the issue?
    Thanks

Same here. It seems to be better when the device has been set up from scratch. A delete and restore does not the trick. So I learned to live with it

  • I enabled itunes match on my iOS device and it deleted my music. Only very recent iTunes purchases are left

How do I get my music back??

    Trust me, everything is OK!
When you enable iTunes Match, the only way to have your music on the device is downloading it from iTunes in the cloud. You can't share the songs through iTunes with the cable anymore.
Go to Settings > Music > Show All (turn this to ON)
** it's supposed iTunes Match will be ON too
Setting this, all music you have already on iTunes Match will apear on your device.
    Hope it solves

  • I have itunes match and i see all my must but half the time it doesn't play,  what am i doing wrong, it's very frustrating

i pay for itunes match, downloaded all my cd's and i see it on my phone but half the songs don't play,  what am i doing wrong?   i didn't think you had to actually download them onto the phone, this was the idea of not using the storage, right?

All iTunes Match music is downloaded to iOS devices in order to play them.  They don't stream like services like Pandora do, whch only stream the music to your device without storing it.  With iTunes Match a song must be stored on the device in order to be played.  But here's where it gets a bit confusing.
If you tap the cloud with the downward facing arrow next to a song on your phone it will download and stored on your phone and this will allow you to later delete it by swiping over the song title and tapping Delete.  In fact, you can later locate all the songs you have downloaded in this way by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store and turn off Music under Show All.  The music app will then only display the songs previously downloaded to your phone, making it easier to delete them to free up space if you no longer wish to store them on your phone.  Go back and turn Music back on under Show All in order to see your entire iTunes Match library again.
However, you can still play a song by simply tapping the title (without tapping the download icon).  When you do this, the song plays, but is still downloaded and stored on your phone as you listen to it.  The disadvantage of this is that these songs are stored in cache memory and cannot be manually deleted by swiping over the song title.  According to Apple, this cache memory is automatically cleared over time as the memory on your phone starts to fill up (by deleting the oldest and least played songs from cache memory).  If you want, you can still force this memory to be cleared by restoring your phone.
The main takeaway from all of this is that iTunes Match, while making your entire library available to play without storing the music on it ahead of time, still stores songs as you play them, or as you manually download them prior to playing them.
If your songs are not playing when you tap them while away from your wifi, make sure you have Use Cellular Data turned on in Settings>iTunes & App Store.  This allows them to be downloaded and played using your cellular data plan while away from wifi.

  • ITunes Match is very Inconsistent Game

Hi, Lets play a little game.  Can anyone tell me whats wrong with this picture?
I can name two things that are wrong ( other then fact that I have Bon Jovi in my library )  .

    True they did Match
However the 3rd song matched at 112 KB.  The min bit rate to "match" songs according to the Apple iTunes Match documentation is 128 KB.  The point is its not consistent.  I have another pic
Guess whats wrong with this.....I had to upload these songs.  Even though they all exist in the iTunes store.
Again the point of this game is the fact there are inconsistences .

  • Very simple iTunes match question

So if I physically unsync my music from my iPad can I still listen to it on said iPad through the cloud as long as I have an Internet connection? (I obviously have an iTunes match account)

Don't have an iPad but that's what I've done on my MacBook.  Better yet, items that I forgot about getting through iTunes years ago are fully accesible without adding any bits to my cramped hard drive.  And they all play happily through Apple TV, pumped through the stereo.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to track my recently played items that are recently played through the cloud. I have a lot of new music that I'm playing at random though Apple TV and I'd like to make notes of the highlights.
