ITunes & microsoft error report

I have tried opening my iTunes today and it comes up error report, needs to be sent to microsoft for the redoing of. Does anyone know how long it will take for it to work, my brother was on last night and it worked fine for him but now mine won't work. I have the newest update in which i want to put on my iPod but it willnot work unless itunes is working! Help!

I have tried that, to restarting the computer, to trying to see if someone else's iTunes work, and it's capute. I just don't know what to do execpt for to try to find which programs have been discontinued on the computer but forgot how to get there.

I recently reformated and when I tryed to open Itunes it said microsoft error report. C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1C4.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt is the technical problem it gave me. This happend last time I reformated as well and I somehow fixed it by uninstalling and doing something else (which i forgot) but now that I forgot how to fix it im stuck.

I would venture to guess your Hard Drive has corrupted sectors. Open 'My Computer' right click on 'C' (assuming that's your primary drive designation) go to 'Properties' select the 'Tools' tab and check for errors. This may entail a reboot and a lengthly check. Look for options to automatically recover bad sectors/data.

Cant open Office, or office files, even after re-istall of Office 2008. Keep getting Microsoft Error Reporting message box.

Is a Trial version of Office also installed? That can cause problems if you install the full version with the trial still in place.

Has anyone had this problem after upgrading? I am assuming it has something to do with Lion since the problem only starting after upgrading but I don't know for sure. Also whenever I open up word it pulls up all the windows I had up before I closed it. It isn't a functional problem just super annoying. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer any suggestions!

I have had the issue prior to installing Lion (which I now have done). I have yet to find an answer. I cannot even get it to open for longer than a few seconds never mind quitting and receiving the error.

How can I fix the Microsoft Error Reporting?

I don't remember this problem occurring so often with OS X 10.5. Frequently (approximately 8 times out of 10), when I try to shut down the computer, I get the error message "The application Microsoft Error Reporting canceled shut down". This problem occurs with my MacBook (that I mostly use), but also with my iMac. A subsequent box says: "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". I then usually click the button to send a report to Microsoft and shut down my computer. I have tried disk utility's repair permissions, but the problem still carries on.
I've ignored this for a while, because it just takes a couple of extra clicks to shut down. I also thought the next Microsoft update would solve it (I have version 12.2.5), but - no change. I hope it's not some kind of Microsoft virus...

Thank you for the link. The problem is solved now. Word cancelling shut down was caused by EndNote's "cite while you write" function. I've disabled it now and Word works fine.

Successful installation ( apparently) but everytime we try to open Editor we get Microsoft Error Report .. "we have to close".

If your startup disk says it is full, you need to remove some of your stuff.
Either move some documents/movies/pictures to an external drive (if you want to keep them), or delete them from your startup drive. Then, empty the Trash.
If you move them to an external, you will still have to delete them from the internal drive.
That won't fix Office (I don't think), but it will make everything run better. You need a minimum of 10GB free (more would be better).
You might need to reinstall Office. It should work without problem (well, at least as little problem as Office can muster).

Itunes 7 error report message

i recently downloaded the new itunes, and it messed up everything. I ran the install program and when i tried to run the program, i get an error report message. It says that the program cannot open. I have tried unistalling, and redownloading, and nothing works. I also tried to revert to 6.01 version, but that didnt work either.Im running a dell, with os windows xp. any help would be much appreciated.

let's get a crash log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
drwtsn32 -i
And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
- A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
- The username you are using in the thread
- The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
- A concise description of the issue you are seeing

Today I updated to iTunes 7.7 (I have Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3) and every time I close iTunes, I see this dialog window:

Getting a microsoft error report when trying to run Quicktime

I have dell laptop which has windows XP. I was not able to run Itunes because I got an error that said that microsoft has encountered an error and i choose to send an error report or not. so i uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and quicktime with no avail. After going these forums, I uninstalled itunes and only installed the quicktime standalone player and i get the same error which tells me the problem is with quicktime. I tried all the stuff on the forum but cannot get quicktime to work which then means I cant get itunes to work which totally *****! any ideas? I wish Apple had a phone/chat support like dell.

I am also having this issue with a new Dell laptop which runs Windows XP tablet edition. I have tried installing QT 7.5.5 twice, and even installing an older version (7.1.6). Every time I try to open QT I get a brief error message on the screen after which it crashes and restarts the system....very frustrating....

I have a K-Lite codec pack installed on my computer, I don't remember what version but its been less than a month since I downloaded the it. Are their any known problems between the two?
afraid so. the problems usually arise when the versions of the QuickTime codecs that come with the Pack are out of sync with the mimimum QT version requirement for the particular version of itunes you're running.
for example, itunes 5.0.x required at least QT 7.0.2, and K-lite Packs with the QT 6.5.2.10 codecs broke QT 7.0.2, which broke itunes 5.0.x.
itunes 6.0.x required at least QT 7.0.3 ... and ACE Packs containing the QT 6.5.2.10 codes would break that.
itunes 7.0.x requires at least QT 7.1.3. i've already seen a report of a version of the ACE Pack breaking QT 7.1.3:

it might not just be the codec mismatch that is causing the grief. in at least one case i've seen a report of a K-Lite pack installing an earlier version of qttask.exe (it's a quicktime background process and startup item) on a PC, and and a version mismatch between your QuickTime Player and qttask.exe could cause all manner of grief when upgrading or launching QT:

... but whatever the precise mechanism, the upshot is that the mega codec packs can break your QuickTime in nasty ways, resulting in a broken itunes that won't launch.
