ITunes Misread My Video File on iPad 2

hello everyone,
today i'm trying to sync my ipad with my laptop. mine is iPad 2 32GB 3G+Wifi with the latest iOS which is obviously 7.1.2. i'm trying to sync it to my itunes ver. 11.4.0.18 which is the latest version.
but when i syncing it, i noticed that my itunes misread my ipad video file. it said that i have at least 2.96 gigs with 26 files, but the truth is i don't store any video in my ipad at all at the moment.
there it is. i screenshot it directly from my ipad.i don't really watch videos on ipad however. i wonder why is this happening?as long as i concern, i've installed the latest itunes, i've updated my ipad to the latest software. and i'm
looking forward for your help.

Hi Fahmip91,
If you are having an unexpected report of video syncing to your iPad, but aren't seeing anything under the Videos app, you may want to check and make sure that syncing is unchecked under both the TV and Movies tabs in iTunes, as well as the music videos option under Music. You may find the following article helpful:
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes

If you are still seeing a mismatch with the data, you may want to try the steps under Resolution in the following article (it is aimed at a different, but somewhat similar, data reporting issue):
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync

  • IPad syncs video but can't find video file on iPad, previous OS upgrade and ITunes upgrade no problem

I could play the video file before but sine OS and recent ITunes upgrade I cannot. iTunes indicates the video file in on the iPad but you can't find it in voids icon, apple support has not yielded an answer so far

I found out: you cannot sync. clips directly into the iMovie APP via iTunes. Well, you can but it wont be available for edditing.
You must sync them into Camera Roll.

  • How do I stop iTunes from duplicating video files?

For some reason unknown to me, iTunes duplicates the video files when they are added to the library.
For music, when I add these to the library, the files stay on the external drive, and they are listed in the library.
However, I now moved my video files to an extrnal drive, but when I want to add them back into my library, it wants to copy all of them (the full file) from the external drive to my itunes folder.  I moved them off of the computer hard drive because they take up too much space.  I don't want them here, but I do want them in the library so I can select and sync them.
How do I add these videos to my itunes library, but keep the actual files on the extrnal drive?

Turn off the option "Copy to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" under Edit > Preferences > Advanced.

  • Transfer desktop video files to iPad photo album without iTunes?

    Hello,
I'm looking for a very easy to transfer video files from a desktop PC to the iPad's photo album.
We can't use iTunes sync because the iPad is synced with a home computer (we're in an office environment). Need the video file in the photo album so that it can be imported into Keynote.
Currently we email the video file to ourselves, open the email on the iPad, and save the video into the Camera Roll. A bit cumbersome of a method and can't be used for large video files that our email server won't handle (20 MB +).
Any suggestions? If a special app, would prefer if it was free .
    Thank you!

  • View video file on iPad 2

Sorry to ask this stupid question, after sync a converted mp4 video file from my PC via iTune to my device how can I view that video file from the device ? I don't see the Video icon from the home screen on my iPad 2

Not sure if you are looking for the movie itself or the video app - but I think you are looking for the actual movie. The movie icon will not be on the home screen. The movie itself may be in the Photos app if you synced from iTunes. Look there. The other place for videos is in the video app.
If you are looking for the video app it may be on another screen. You can swipe from screen to screen to try and find it. Look in your folders as well if you have any.
You can swipe to the right from the home screen to bring up the search feature. Enter the name of the movie in the text field and search for the movie, if it shows up - tap it to begin playing the movie ..... Assuming that the movie is in the correct format. I know nothing about the formats.
One last thing that you can do to restore the video app to the home screen is to go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This should put the video app back on the home screen but it will also restore the home screen to the out of the box layout.

  • ITunes syncing deleted videos back onto iPad

I am not sure if this is a problem with the latest version of iTunes or iOS, but I have not changed any settings and have "synced" my iPad the same way since I bought it three years ago.  After watching a video on my iPad, I would manually delete it directly from the iPad.  When I next plugged my iPad into iTunes I would hit "Sync" and it would remove the check marks next to those videos I had deleted in the "Movies" section of the iPad interface in iTunes and mark them as "watched".
I recently upgraded from iPad 3rd Gen (The New iPad) to an iPad Air 2.  My iOS is up to date as is iTunes, but iTunes is not behaving the way it did before. Now when I delete a movie manually on the iPad and then plug in to iTunes and "Sync" iTunes is not removing the selection check marks and is putting all of the videos I deleted back on to the iPad.  This is very frustrating.  Is there a setting that I have accidentally changed or has the iTunes interface changed in some way that deleting things manually directly from the iPad no longer communicates with iTunes?
This is very annoying!  Please help!

Same exact thing happened to me on my iPad Air 2 (iOS 8.1.2) this morning and one time before. I was syncing some new videos onto my iPad via iTunes and it deleted EVERY VIDEO I had (over 200 videos or about 60gB of files). When I had this problem before, it was more because I changed the video type from "Home Video" to "TV Show" where it would delete the files labelled as "TV Show", thus making organizing my files a nightmare, but this new problem is far worse. iTunes team, get your **** in order. Now I have to spend a full day reconverting my files into .mp4 format for my iPad...

  • Where can i find a list of supported video files for iPad Air

I have updated from an iPad 3rd Gen to the new Air.
Can someone please direct me to where I can find a list of supported video files (bitrate etc.) that the Air will support so that I can rip my own collection at the highest possible quality.
    Thanks,

  • Video files in iPad

I am creating an application for iPad, and I need to add video files to this application, but it doesn't work

What you'r using flvcomponent? or StageWebView to load video with the ipad native player? below is the screenshot to attach the video while packaging your ios:
If you used flvcomponent then you also need to load skin here, but may be skin swf will not work if internally compiled with a script.

  • ITunes is corrupting video files

iTunes (7.2) have been corrupting some of my video files (mp4) and the video tracks are no longer available. I just can listen to the audio tracks.
I opened the files in QT, and got the same result: no video, just sound.
This just started to happen today. I haven't upgraded iTunes or installed anything, this is just bizarre. I've lost 5 movies so far. Files had been working for 6 months, and this never happened before.
Funny thing is file dates appear as modified today, but I haven't "modified" anything, I was just watching some videos in an iTunes playlist and video began to fail.

    Hi all,
same problem here, but in a windows (shame on me...) network:
    * Two PCs w/ Win 7 64-bit
    * iTunes 10.7.x
    * iTunes library on a D-LINK DNS-320 (firmware: 2.02.x)
After editing metadata of video files (adding art, changing title OR adding some details like year) the file is corrupt and will no longer play: not in iTunes, not in Quicktime, neither VLC nor MPC or any other Windows video software.
This happens always(!), it doesn't matter what PC I use to edit the metadata. Doesn't matter, which video encoder (Freemake, Aisee, even Quicktime and it's ATV-profile) I use. The original video input format doesn't matter.
    Downgrading the D-Link firmware to 1.9 and/or iTunes to 10.6 doesn't give a result.
Today even some mp3 got corrupted after adding cover art. Therefore i can't believe the file size is the reason.
Maybe this is a hint: In Windows Explorer (something like the finder on a mac) I can't change the owner nor the user rights of the (corrupted or not yet corrupted) file. Is there any problem known relating to iTunes read-write-ability and NAS user rights whr storing the iTunes library on an external HDD?
What about the library size or the amount of media objects (130 movies, 500 TV Shows, 15000 mp3, ...)?
    Any ideas or solutions anyone?
Or a good mp4-tagger (incl. cover option) for Windows?
    regards,
    martin

  • Video file for iPad retina

    Hello everybody
I'd like to know what is the best file i can place in an article that will be displayed ONLY on iPad retina : is it useful to have a video file that is 2048 x 1536 (means : damn heavy) or must I stick to the 1024*768 ?
    Thanx a lot

The largest supported video size for the retina iPad is 1920x1080p. Determining the right video size depends on a number of factors. If you have a short video with lots of movement, 1920x1080 might be the right choice. If you have a long video with a talking head, using the maximum video size increases the folio size unnecessarily.

  • How do i add a subtitle file to a supported video file for ipad without converting the video.  (.mp4)??

I have a downloaded movie in .mp4 format an i success fully added it to itunes.
But before adding it to my ipad i have an .srt file subtitles which i would like to add it to the movie.
I want to add it to movie without converting the movie.
Can i copy the content of the subtitle file to the lyrics tab in get info option to make it work?

Nevermind. In the iTunes Area I can drag and drop tunes onto the iTunes playlist I made, but NO I can't drag and drop to a synced list in the iPhone area of iTunes. Reason is that it only represents the list I sync to in iTunes.
I did download a Doug Script where I can add files from one play list to another which is neat. Donated some cash for it.

  • ITunes mutilated my video files

I had a serious issue when I tried to tag several movie files as "TV Show". iTunes kept spinning while the Info/Tagging window was open, and when I eventually cancelled its attempt, I found out that it had somehow destroyed the original files.
They were there, but they would no longer play in iTunes, AND IT WAS NO LONGER PLAYABLE anywhere on my computer, or re-convertible. I don't know what iTunes did to those videos, but it mutilated them.
Luckily I had the "originals" - eg the versions that weren't initially ipod compatible (such as .avi and .flvs and stuff) so I just ran them all through VisualHub again, after deleting the mutilated files. That was annoying because it takes quite a bit of time to do nice 2-pass H.264 conversions even on a MacBook Pro.
The second time I (a) did not attempt to tag the files, and (b) made duplicates of them onto another drive as a back-up. So far things are fine, but it's annoying not being able to organise my movies more efficiently. Especially as video playlists don't seem to load on the iPod Touch - AND, as the Apple Help notes - there is currently a bug with video Smart Playlists not working at all (they won't save).
Love my iPod, but its software/OS has some way to go. Roll on Februrary

Well the other person has witnessed this behaviour - in that it took several minutes.
I cannot see how it could NOT have been iTunes (coupled with my cancelling its tagging process early) that mutilated my files. What else could have done it? All the other movie files, that I did not attempt to tag, or that I tagged as Music Videos, were fine. All these files were identical in their codecs and conversion parameters.
I have managed to repeat the error today, with a test file. The file goes to TV Shows, but is not playable. Trying to play it outside iTunes with QuickTime generates the error:
"The movie could not be opened.
"An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie."
Trying to open it with software such as MPEG Streamclip (which will sometimes even open damaged files), gives the error:
    "Unrecognised file type: open anyway?"
When I click yes, it opens it, and gives:
"File open error: can't find video or audio tracks."
So I think we can confirm that (1) the file is mutilated and (2) iTunes did this during the "writing tags" tagging process, which I terminated early. I would be interested to know what goes on within a movie file during tagging that could affect the main file content data in this way.

  • How can I transfer video files from iPad to a flash drive

Hello! My daughter has sent her iPad to me before it gets sent for servicing and wants me to have a backup of her photos and videos. Can I transfer the files to a flash drive, if yes, how?
BTW, I do have my iMac with me and would transfer to it be easier, details of how to go about this stuff not being known to me.
    Can anyone guide me?
