Itunes missing

Yesterday I watched a movie on ITunes. Today, ITunes was missing from the dock. I was unable to locate the actual ITunes file through finder to drag back to the doc. I browsed various media files on my macintosh computer, only to find that they no longer opened in ITunes, thus, I concluded that ITunes had myseriously dissapeared from my mac. I then downloaded ITunes and went through the entire install process twice, still unable to locate ITunes. What do i do?

Which version is your iPhone running?
If you install either one of the most recent firmware updates with an unlocked iPhone, doing so could very well render your iPhone useless.
If you perform a Restore, iTunes will use/install the most current firmware version available for the iPhone but I think there is a workaround to re-install your current firmware version instead.
This is a problem unlocked iPhone owners will be dealing with often or there is always the potential along with a voided warranty and no support from Apple. The benefit is using your carrier of choice but there is a significant tradeoff associated with doing so.

I keep getting the following message after attempting to download and install the latest update for iTunes: missing MSVCR80.dll.  error 7 (windows error 126). Anyone else having this issue? How do I get iTunes back in working order?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • ITunes Missing Album Cover / Artwork Search feature (future update)

    Hi,
I would like to request a future iTunes search function.  I know that iTunes allows you to save a Notifications report after you "Get Album Artwork" feature for missing covers or issues where it could not find Album covers.  However, can you add a function where you can list all the tracks/albums where iTunes could not find the album cover within iTunes, almost similar to the view, Show Duplicate Items function.  It would be great to list all the songs without covers within iTunes itself, so that one can work on fixing all the tracks with issues.
    Thanks
p.s. still waiting on 2-way sync feature request, its been years now since i first requested.  For example, if you create an on the fly playlist on your iOS device that iTunes imports the playlist and merges any metadata updates, instead of creating duplicate playlists, etc.

  • ITunes missing pause/play/ / buttons

For the past month (I believe sometime around the time I updated itunes to iTunes 11) I have been missing the section on my iTunes window that has the pause, play, >>, and << buttons and shows the status of the song (time wise).  I am also missing the red, yellow, and green buttons on the upper left hand side and I am unable to click and drag the window around at all.  I have googled this problem for hours and come up with nothing.  Hoping someone here can help because for a long time the only way to stop a song from playing once it started was the quit iTunes.  Now, just today I figured out that I can open the miniplayer on top of my iTunes window and that is better than having to close out of iTunes altogether, but I'd still like the features that are in the miniplayer to be available to me on my screen all the time like they always were in the past.

    Hello 3isenuf,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I'd like you to please reinstall iTunes by following the steps below.
    Download the latest installer
Open Safari or another web browser.
Go to the iTunes download webpage and click the Free Download button.
Make sure that the Mac OS X version is selected on that page.
Click the Download button to start the download.
Once the file is downloaded, a new Finder window appears containing two items (below). If a Finder window doesn't appear, locate the iTunesX.dmg file (where X is the iTunes version number) on the desktop (or wherever your downloads go) and double-click it to display these items:
A "Read Before You Install iTunes" file. This document contains the system requirements for the version of iTunes, and may contain other useful information about installing.
An iTunes.mpkg file (this is the installer file itself)
    Install iTunes
Quit iTunes if it is currently open.
Double-click the iTunes.mpkg file. This opens the Installer application in Mac OS X.
Follow the instructions in the installer screens. If all of the installation components appear unchecked and dimmed (unavailable, and therefore not installable), refer to Mac OS X iTunes installer components are disabled.
After the installation has completed, quit the Installer and restart the computer. The new version of iTunes appears on your hard disk in your Applications folder.
    Opening iTunes
It's possible that clicking the iTunes icon in your Dock or double-clicking an iTunes icon on your desktop could open an older version of iTunes. Open iTunes from the Applications folder to be sure you are opening the right version:
    Double-click your hard disk.
    Double-click the Applications folder.
    Double-click the iTunes icon.
If you notice another copy of iTunes in the Dock after following these steps, here's a way to take care of that:
    Quit iTunes.
Drag the iTunes icon out of the Dock.
Drag the iTunes icon from the Applications folder to the Dock.

  • ITunes Missing Files

Okay, when I open iTunes (11.0.2.26  Windows 7) and try to play songs in the library, I get the "missing files" message, with option to locate.  I choose to locate, and it cannot find the song file.  However, when I go to the library location (only iTunes Library on this machine) I am able to find the song file, and even open it using iTunes.  Even after doing so, iTunes will not allow me to open the song from within the program, nor locate the song file.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem ?  Any help is much appreciated.

First off, you're posting in the Mac forums. You have a pc. Second, see if this helps:

  • ITunes missing left column

I was playing around with my AIM buddy list with iTunes open, and I expanded my docked buddy list to the full screen, and when i restored it, the whole left menu on my iTunes has disappeared. The column that usually contains radio, playlists, ipod, etc... is gone. It doesn't look like it's been selected not to appear, it looks like it's just been pushed out of the picture. I've tried numerous things. Any suggestions? and btw this is iTunes 4.7 i think. (i had to rollback due to difficulties with 5.0)

  • "Itunes missing files - please re-install"

Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I am having major problems ever since i downloaded the newest update. Cant access my itunes now as keep getting a message that says there are files missing and that I need to reinstall itunes. Have tried over and over to re-install but still keep getting the same message!! Many thanks,

    Aichenelf,
I cannot thank you enough for your post! I upgraded my iTunes because some of the freebie songs on Tuesday said they required a higher version of iTunes. Wow! The two weeks since that fateful day have been filled with problem after problem. The 7.5 would not work on my machine, and I got the same "missing files" error. I also got errors that said the QuickTime would not work and that iTunes required QuickTime. I uninstalled all Apple products and tried to reinstall older versions but was not allowed to by the software. I was pulling my hair out. Finally, I read somewhere to go to the directory called WINDOWS\Downloaded Applications\ and to delete any previous versions of iTunesSetup.exe. I also obtained the version 7.2 of QuickTime by itself and installed it on its own. Then, I reinstalled 7.4.3. It took tons of time and tons of trial-and-error to resolve this ridiculous issue. I say "ridiculous" because there is no reason that I can see for artists to insist that their fans use the most recent version of a software. Not everyone can afford to go out and get a new computer to run all this stuff. I digress --> Free or not, I won't go there again. Thanks for listing the older software verions' release numbers ... Made my life a lot simpler. I obtained my older versions by doing a Google search that led me to a place called the File Hippo. Anyhow, hope this can help others who got into the same situation! Back up your library before uninstalling, too! I renamed mine to simply "Music" and have successfully reimported it since the fix. Not sure if my playlists are gone forever, but can recreate them a lot easier than reloading music. Peace & good luck ... I know how frustrating this is !!!

  • Changes made on my iPad do not appear when plugged into iTunes; missing album art on iPad.

If I make changes to the music on my iPad--i.e. delete songs/albums, add ratings, add a song to a playlist--when I plug my iPad in to view the contents in iTunes, none of these changes have been saved. The deleted music reappears, the ratings do not show up, and the new songs are not in the playlist.
Additionally, when I have my iPad plugged in to my Mac, all of my album art shows in iTunes. However, if I look at the music on my iPad by albums, much of my album art is missing.
    Any suggestions?

Visionplace, i have the issue where my ipad2 changes/edits to my current playlists are NOT synced up with my itunes 11 on my computer (Windows 7).  I have icloud and Itunes Match is turned on.  My settings are to auto-sync and i have ALL my music set to be synced, not just select playlists. (Note I have not tested whether new playlists will appear because i usually just edit my existing ones).
So whenever i make playlist changes on my ipad2 (e.g., add or delete songs), i see the changes correctly on my iphone 4, and my Apple TV within 15 minutes without taking any steps, but they do NOT appear on my itunes 11 on my computer (Windows 7).  The only way i have found to get the ipad2 playlist edits onto my itunes on my computer is to sync my iphone4 up with the computer. (My ipad changes are already on the iphone 4 automatically). My computer's itunes 11 CAN see the playlist edits i have made on the iphone4 (immediately), but not the ipad.  It *****, but it works for me.
For new music purchases (from itunes store) on my ipad2, the only way i can see them on my itunes 11 on the computer is to go to the store, and download them again. Otherwise, they will not appear.
Note - in another forum when i was researching this ipad sync issue, someone had stated that the ipad/computer sync is one way. (I.e., from computer-to-ipad only). If true, that would explain why the ipad edits and new music purchases dont show up in my computer itunes. However, the iphone sync must be two ways.

  • My itunes missing trying again to download but i got an error 126 and missing msvcr what to do?

    Please need help:
I deleted some programs and for some reason my itunes is not working anaymore. Then i try to install again and i am getting a message error 126 and also tell me that i am missing something MSVCR80.dll . tell me anyone what can i do. I have 4 Ipads link in this computer i have not be able to update programs or copy any music or copy any photos from the Ipads.

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:

  • Unable to uninstall iTunes missing iTunes.msi

path missing for itunes.msi. tried to uninstall and re-install but cannot successfully uninstall itunes. All files are still on computer except the main iTunes icon - apparently the msi file.

This type of msi problem can usually be fixed using the Microsoft Installer Clean Up utility.
Unfortunately the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility has been with drawn by Microsoft because of compatibility issues with Microsoft Office so you will need to find a copy elsewhere – the installer is msicuu2.exe. You need version 3.
    Google msicuu2.exe download
mydigitallife in the above search has a copy of version 3
Check for malware before installing it.
After installing, To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install
If you get permission denied error, Try Run as Administrator – an option if you right click on the program.
Run the clean up utility and remove any reference you find to iTunes.
    Then try installing again.

  • Itunes missing registry settings

Somebody please help! I've got a new ipod nano and installed itunes from the disk but got this message: "The registry settings used by the itunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software. Please reinstall itunes." I notice the CR-RW Drive (D:)which is called a removable storage device on My Computer is missing. Only showing HDD (C:).
I didn't have quicktime but downloaded it yesterday as I understand itunes requires it. The pre-installed CD playing / burning software I have are: RealOne Player; Sonic RecordNow; PowerCinema and Windows MediaPlayer.
Any ideas anyone? My laptop is a Packard Bell with XP Home edition and Norton internet security 2006.
    Mike

FOr some reason, this is being seen in pretty much only Packard Bell's which leads me to believe its a Packard Bell issue. Ok I am going to copy and paste what I wrote to someone else about the same issue so I dont have to retype it again.
For the most part, what's occurring is one of two things. Either...
    A) an application (such as iTunes, etc.) is installing a driver file (as a .SYS) or replacing a working driver file that is referenced within your registry. For some folks, the replaced driver is still referenced by either an UpperFilterCheck or a LowerFilterCheck, and the device manager is actually seeking out that file that, well... no longer exists. Or, when you try and uninstall the application (iTunes is the frequent transgressor) everything is removed, including the related driver files, but the registry isn't altered... so the device manager continues to try and locate that driver file... which no longer exists.
    or
    B) a virus (or trojan) burrows its way into your file structure, and creates an element of itself disguised as a .SYS file. We've seen this happen before with viral elements disguising themselves as audio or video card driver files, in the efforts of masking themselves from lower-class anti-virus programs (or un-updated ones). In this case, they take on the name of a driver file that the optical drives are "familiar" with, and so, with the intention of being "fast, friendly, and efficient", the optical drives are tapped to utilize this new "driver" file... and it gets referenced in the registry as such.
However, when your anti-virus actually snaps to it, and removes the virus / trojan, and you go off on a virus-killing mission, galavanting through the registry and cleaning the little buggers out in Safe Mode and everything... you might remove the viral elements... but... the reference to them might still remain. The device manager is still looking for that "driver file", and will cause the optical drives to lock up in a Code 39 or Code 41 because of it.
Either way, he thing to do to reclaim your optical drives is located in your registry here:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE1 0318}
You'll want to have that open, and a mini-window of the following:
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SYSTEM -> Hardware (tab) -> DEVICE MANAGER -> Offending Drive (with yellow tag by it) Right-Mouse-Click and PROPERTIES -> Driver (tab) -> DRIVER DETAILS
Notice that list. It references all the drivers that that particular drive is utilizing. There should be a single .DLL (dynamic link library) file and multiple .SYS files. It's the .SYS files we're focusing on, and they should be located in your C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ folder stem. If you want to open a new window explorer, and go verify that each of those driver files still exists in that folder stem, you may.
At this point, compare the Driver File Detail list with the Registry Tree Location you're sitting in, and look at the UpperFilterCheck and LowerFilterCheck key values. Your offending key value will NOT be on your Driver File Detail list!!! It might be as small as "PFC" or something else, but that value is referencing to a driver file that no longer exists. Delete that offending key value. Close the registry.
Close the Driver File Details and Drive Properties windows. At this point, to finish this up, you need to Soft Uninstall (Right-mouse-click on the drive, and hit "Uninstall" ) the drive(s), let the Device Manager refresh... then hit ACTION -> Scan For Hardware Changes ...
This should start a new Found New Hardware cycle, and.... poof!... your drives should be back to normal.
Here is a microsoft article, its regarding easy cd creater, but its pretty much a similiar thing

  • Itunes missing remote speakers airport express

I have windows xp & itunes. When I updated to itunes 7.1 my remote speakers were missing and i am unable to retrieve them.

The problem turns out to be an incompatibility with Bonjour for Windows. A post by "f00fighter" over in the "iTunes for Windows Upgrade Issues" forum solved it. I quote him below:
    ******Quote***********
Looks like this issue is due to an incompatibility between Bonjour for Windows and iTunes 7.1.0.59 for Windows (thanks toonz!)
To workaround the issue you can stop the Bonjour Service by going to Start \ Control Panel \ Administrative Tools \ Services, then highlight the Bonjour Service and stop it. You might also want to set the Startup status of the Bonjour Service to Manual (or Disabled) to prevent the service from starting automatically the next time you restart you PC.
Note - this is only a temporary fix, and turns off the Bonjour service...so don't do this if you have other applications that rely on the Bonjour Service. A fix from Apple is needed to truly "fix" this issue.
