ITunes Mobile for my SLVR - Questions

It seems I am not alone in owning a Motorola SLVR without iTunes loaded, so here are the questions that I guess everyone is needing answered:
The iTunes mobile software MUST be available somewhere or Apple must be considering it's issue? When? How?
If no iTunes mobile software, is there any way of directly loading from my iTunes library my purchased songs to the SLVR without the hassle of converting to MP3 via audio burn first?
Personally, I feel done to not be able to simply get the software and load it onto my SLVR myself. Why do it for every ROKR and not the SLVR???
Should have bought a Nano and a Sony Erricsson Walkman phone instead!!

I just bought a SLVR and iTunes doesn't see the phone. I can see the hard drive icon on the desktop. Adding songs to the folders doesn't work either. I took it back to the Cingular store with my iBook and none of the employees could figure out why it won't work. We even tried a new phone. I want it to work, but not sure what I should do next? I have tried everything… reformated the card, (fomatted as DOS fat 16) reset factory settings, took out the card and battery, dragged and dropped MP3, MP4, AIFF, did everything by the book. Any ideas?

If you have music that was purchased on different iTunes accounts than the one you use, then you must provide the password, otherwise the tunes are not considered yours.  You can turn off iCloud and just use the usual USB sync method.  But I wonder whether you'll have the same problem?

  • Its not a question, but i just hope someone from apple can read this, i just wish you can make a card just like itunes card, for ipad wi-fi card. would be convenience.

That's why he gave you the link to make the suggestion.
But returning to your proposal ... Apple does not sell any of the "wifi" connections. It would be up to providers of service to sell giftcards, and perhaps Boingo or some of other airport-commercial WiFi firms do. I can't think of any other place I've been asked to pay for WiFi.
Now Verizon and AT&T, as well as other providers in other countries, could sell Gift Cards... and again, perhaps they do, but you'll have to check with them or make the suggestions there. It's really not an Apple issue, as they don't sell or provide any connections, just the hardware to make them.

  • I only have iTunes on one laptop/pc, but it has asked me to authorise my iTunes over a year after I've already done it - referring to my iTunes as the 2nd out of 5, and is asking me for my security questions. But I have no other authorised users.

Apple iTunes on windows 8, linked to iPad Mini (for over a year)
I'm having an authorisation issue. I have already authorised my computer, but iTunes requested I do it again, referring to it as my 2nd linked computer out of 5 and it asking for my security questions. I only have one computer/laptop with iTunes and have authorised no other; why is iTunes telling me I've never used this computer before?

Have you reinstalled or updated the OS on the computer ? It could also just be a bug of the system.

I have iPhone 4S 32g Sprint, already cancelled week ago....My Question is if I can use any carrier like at-t or T-mobile for a cheaper plan....By the way my phone has a micro sd,any suggestions would appreciated, have a nice evening to all the apple user's & thank's....

I strongly recommend against switching to tmobile. They seem cheaper up front, but their "unlimited" data cuts you off at a certain point. They will even send you messages saying that you "went over your limit." Not only that but they sneak in fees, charges, and services that were never agreed upon making your bill more expensive. And forget ever trying to change your contract. They'll change it for you, but what they don't tell you is that they are roping you into another 2 year contract from that point on. No paperwork, no signatures, no nothing. They just screw you.
But other than that, yes you can unlock your iphone and use it with them. Though I wouldn't if I were you.

  • How do I clean up iTunes Mobile Applications folder that has old versions of apps?

I am using the latest iTunes 11.0.3 on my recently new iMac. Previously I had iTunes on my MacPro. The media folder was located on one of the extra (non-boot) volumes on the MacPro (MP). When I got my iMac I changed (in the Advanced section of Preferences) the location of the media folder to point to the same folder on the MP volume as I had been using. Everything seems to work fine. I can plug in my iPhone 4s and sync which goes thru a backup step.
I was then poking around in the iTunes media folder on the MP and found that the Mobile Applications (MA) folder was full of older versions of the apps on my iPhone. They dated back to 2009, 2010 and most were 2011. A few were 2012 or 2013. I would like to get rid of the old versions as they take up space. Being that old I doubt they are useful for anything anyway. But my question is how?
I have read and searched for other threads on this topic and have not found a solution. It appears that iTunes is supposed to toss old versions into the trash. I suspect it is doing that now but for some reason has lost track of these older version. The problem here is I don't know what happened.
My inclination is to take all these app .ipa files and dump them... then do an iPhone sync and have it repopulate this MA folder. But I wasn't sure iTunes would do that. So I selected one app that is currently installed on my iPhone, found several older .ipa files in the MA folder that correspond to that app and deleted all of them. I then sync'd my iPhone and watched it go thru the Backup step. When it was done I checked my MA folder but it still had NO .ipa file for that app. Why is that? To make sure the backup step didn't place it someone unexpected, I did a system wide search for that app name (the core part of the name, not including any version numbers, etc) but it found only one match. It was old (2011) located on an all-together different MA folder so did not come from this iPhone sync.
I wish someone would clearly document what goes on during an iPhone sync when the backup location is iTunes (not iCloud). Does iTunes store the current version of each app in the MA folder? I didn't see that happen in my example above.
What does it mean to remove all .ipa files from your MA folder? It would seem that it doesn't matter EXCEPT for apps no longer available in the App Store. Otherwise I could re-install them, right?
What can I delete safely without ill consequences?
How can i indentify what to remove if I should keep the latest version around?
    Help would be appreciated.
    To be clear:
    * I use iTunes to store my Backups, not iCloud.
    * I have used Consolidate after making sure that Keep iTunes Media Folder Organizaed is checked and Copy File to iTunes Media folder is checked. It did not help here.
    * Given the dates of the .ipa files in my MA folder, this problem pre-dated my recent addition of my iMac.
    * I believe I'm using a new local (to my iMac) iTunes library file but my media folder is on the MP as described above. When I access iTunes app on my MP it too accesses the same media folder. It is used primarily for adding music and movies to, not iPhone apps as I now sync on the iMac.

ITunes has been a disaster for me.  It is filled with all sorts of things and there is no way to reorganize any of it.  I'm forced to use iTunes because I have an iPhone but the experience has convinced me that it is best to avoid Apple products and I would recommend that course for others.
The operative word here is "avoid."  For products like the iPhone and iPad for which Apple has a superior product there is no choice.  The problem is Apple control.  That means that everything is compatible with everything else which is good.  It also means that everything is limited to products that serve Apple's bottom line, which is questionable.
Hopefully, now that Apple's creative genius has sadly left us, other companies will step forward to create products that will allow us to avoid the complications of Apple.  I have found iTunes to be the principal complication.  iTunes regularly updates itself, practically every Sunday, and then I have to restart my computer which interrupts all the tasks that I have underway.
Despite all these updates I don't use iTunes except for the iPhone and even that is problematic.  The entire experience makes me glad that I don't have an Apple since it must be very difficult for Apple users to work with Apple constantly demanding updates and restarts and proprietary software and the like.
If you're not an Apple customer, but you've been listening their hype with their execs pacing a stage clad in jeans, then read this and heed.  My experience with iTunes is a warning for all.  Watch out.  Apple is not your friend.  It's a corporation bent on control, monopoly power and coerced profiteering.  We may all soon need nets to save us when Apple drives us out the window.

  • ITunes match for a large number of devices, 4 people, and as a backup solution.

I am interested in using iTunes match for two central reasons:
    1.  Backing up my music library.  Is iTunes Match an solution for this?  Or not really?  I get the fact that my purchases are protected, but what about the music I uploaded from purchased CD's.
Question:  Can I consider iTunes Match at $24.99/year the cost of backing up 60GB of music to the cloud?
    2.  Sharing my music library across a number of devices.  We are a family of 4 with farily extensive MAC, iPhone, iPad usage, including ...
1 iMac (Music server), 3 Power books (Indivudal work machines), 2 iPads, Apple TV,  and 4 iPhones.  We have 4 Mobile me accounts, moving to ICloud.
The problem I have is that I can never effectively coordinate the music library across the devices.  80GB of iTunes library is too much to load across all the devices and I never seem to have the song I'm looking for at the time I desire it on a particular device, other then the family iMAC server which has the whole library on it.
Question:  Seems like iTunes Match is an ideal solution, but can it handle the diverse spectrum and number of devices I have?  Ideally I want to thnk of iTunes Matchas, 1 central library avaialble on all devices, all the time.
Thank you in advance for any opinions.

Think of iTunes Match as a central library from which "satellite" libraries can pull any time they have an Internet connection.
Functionally, if all those devices are in your house, iTunes Match doesn't give you much that Home Sharing doesn't already offer.  With Home Sharing all your Macs can easily "fill in the gaps" from the "master" library.  Of course, that requires that the machine with the "master" library is always online and iTunes is always running on it, which might not be the case.  AppleTVs and iPads sync to that "master" library and so what is on them is configured from the master library computer, not the device itself.
What iTunes Match offers you is:
    1.  Your "canonical" library lives "in the cloud" and so you don't have to have a home server up and running iTunes at all times.
    2.  Your "canonical" library lives "in the cloud" and so you can update from it any time you have an internet connection, not just when you are at home.
    3.  The workflow for updating from the canonical library is much better than the clunky "Home Sharing" interface.
    4.  Any "matched" songs (I found that in my library only about 65% were successfully matched; I'm not sure why) will be available at 256kbps AAC, which might be higher quality than what you have in your library currently (especially if you have imperfections like CD skipping, etc, in the tracks).  Of course, anything iTunes can't match to its own library will remain just as imperfect as ever.
The downside (versus Home Sharing) is:
    1.  Everything needs to get copied onto a device from the Internet, which is likely to take much longer than just Home Sharing over your home wireless network.
Seems like a pretty good system.  I've signed up for it and am happy with what I've seen so far.
