ITunes mousewheel bug - Can't scroll in Prefs iPod Music

The scroll ball functionality of the Apple Mighty Mouse doesn't seem to work on the list of playlists in iTunes>Preferences...>iPod>Music>Automatically update selected playlists only. Can anyone else confirm this? If this is a reproducible issue, how can I bring it to the attention of the iTunes development team?
I have a fairly long list of playlists, and not having the scroll functionality work there means manually clicking through it...

I am having this same problem. Did you ever resolve the issue and how? I feel really goofy not being able to figure this thing out. Crazy.

I no longer have the PC that had my CD library and purchased music on iTunes. I am now on another PC and managed to download my purchased iTunes music etc. Is there a way on iTunes that I can get back my old CD music library without ripping again ? Earlier back up is corrupted. Thank you in advance. No longer have my old iPod but getting new one.

If you had the hard drive from the original machine, a backup of the same, an iPod with the media, or a subscription to iTunes Match then there would have been hope, but alas no.

Place the iPod in Recovery mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes.

I just clean installed maverick on my computer and I have nothing in my iTunes library, how can I get back all the music I have bought?

From your backups. By doing a clean install you erased your startup volume. You may have installed OS X, but your personal software was erased. You can restore from backups if your have them. If not, then you've lost it all, permanently.

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

  • ITunes message says can't synch file to iPod

I get a message telling me that iTunes won't sync a file to my iPod because my iPod cannot play that format (this is odd, as most of the podcasts I subscribe to I doubt would post a file that is not iPod compatible--this is on my 60gb model).
I've searched iTunes for the file, and I cannot find it. Can anyone suggest where this might be sequestered?
ALSO (yes, a twofer), I upgraded to v.7 for Windows. Now when I pull down files, I no longer see the status bar telling me the download progress. I am assuming there is a setting or view to select, but cannot figure out how, hope someone can help, thanks.

    Never mind.

  • Ipod versus itunes - help, how can i avoid throwing my ipod against the wal

    hi there
i have recently splashed out and bought an ipod video. i was told it is user friendly - but how wrong was that? tried the website but the help is useless to me, then i sent numerous emails to ipod support without response.
i have squillions of problems with this thing, but my main prob at the moment is that i have more than 12000 songs in itunes and the ipod synchronizes each time i connect but i can't get more than 400 songs onto the ipod and the worst thing is most of those songs are crap.
i am really angry with this machine, can anyone help me?
    cheers - udo

When your library is larger than the capacity of your iPod, iTunes by default makes a new playlist called something along the lines of "Owner's iPod" and sets the update option to 'Sync Music - Selected playlists'. It creates a playlist of randomly chosen songs, if you don't like it's choice you can make a playlist of your own to sync from.
Open iTunes and create a playlist to update your iPod from, call it -iPod to make it the first playlist in Sources. Drag whatever content you want to have into the playlist from your iTunes library. Now connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. Choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Another option is to manage your iPod manually. In this mode you can drag songs or playlists from your iTunes library directly to the iPod when it's connected:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
Something to remember about using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on the desktop and check this link for alternative methods: Safely Disconnect IPod
One last thing, the advertised song capacity of any of the iPods is a calculation based on 4 minute songs encoded in AAC format at a bit rate of 128 kbps. You need to bear that in mind if you want to get the maximum number on your iPod. Longer songs and songs encoded at a higher bitrate or in uncompressed formats take up more space. If for example you imported full size, uncompressed CD files (AIFF format) you would get significantly fewer on. What format are the songs you have imported? Go to iTunes and right click on one of your songs, choose Get Info>Summary and look at "Kind" to see what format you are using: iTunes: About import settings and hard disk space
If you have imported uncompressed files they can be converted in iTunes, have a read of these articles:
How to convert a song to a different format
    How To Choose Import Settings

  • How do I upload my music from my iPhone 4S to iTunes so I can then transfer to an iPod?

    Hi there
I hope the above makes sense. I have over a 1000 songs on my iphone but 400 in iTunes. I want to upload my iPhone library to iTunes so i can then sync with a new iPod?
    Please someone help...
    Thanks

As I said, you can transfer itunes purchases.
As everything else came from your computer in the first place, then it should still be there, and should be included in your regular backup copy of your computer.

  • 2 computers, 5 family members with their own iTunes accounts. How do we share purchased iTunes and downloaded CDs with homeshare? (I can't get my old iPod music to all go onto my iPad)

    I have 2 computers - Windows Based
My husband, myself and the kids all have our own "accounts" on the home computer. This was done to limit certain access when the kids were younger.
The laptop is pretty much mine. I use both computers for my iTunes music.
Everyone has their own iTunes account for their music and games. I have been able to get music purchased by my other family members on my iPod in the past if I logged in the home computer under their IDs and attached my iPod. Or, if a family member downloaded a CD, I could get that music thes same way without having to download the CD again under my own login ID. However, I now have an iPad, and I can't transfer music from the iPod to the iPad - specifically that which was downloaded from CDs - not iTunes. And I couldn't get it to go from my iPod to my laptop, although both are authorized computers in the Home Sharing.
It doesn't seem like the Home Sharing works with the different computer login IDs. The iTunes is universally available regardless of who is logged in, but the libraries vary based on who's user name you are under. I have strugged with importing from one User ID to another, which led me to simply log in under a different family member to get the desired music. There has got to be an easier answer and I'm just not figuring it out.
I've read the support answers, I've read many of the other responses here as well to those with similiar questions, but I am still struggling.
    Any suggestions?

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. • I recently purchase a tv episode from the iTunes store, however, can not download to my IPOD Touch.  Apparently, a format issue, any suggestions

I recently purchased a tv episode from the iTunes store.  However, I can not get the tv episode downloaded to my IPOD Touch i.e. can not sync movie although music works fine.  From what I read it is an issue with the format of the episode.  The format is HD and apparently is too much for my IPOD touch.  According to the documentation, the SD format for the episode should have been downloaded at the same time as the HD.  I have the latest iOS for my IPOD Touch, 4.2.1 and latest for ITunes 10.5.3.3.  I am using my PC with Windows 7.  I can not download directly to the IPOD Touch since access to the clous is required i.e. iOS 4.3 or higher.  Any suggestions?

My suggestion is for you to do the downloads overnight.

  • I'm using iTunes Match now, can I no longer manage the music on my iPhone through a playlist on my computer in iTunes?

I used to pick and choose the music I wanted to take up the storage space on my iPhone through iTunes on my computer (note: not on my phone). Now that I use iTunes Match, the only way to delete songs seems to be to use my iPhone and swipe on whichever artists or songs I want to delete. Can I no longer use a playlist in iTunes to choose which music takes up the storage space? Let me know.. I still want to be able to play a song I haven't synched up to my phone through iTunes Match if I need to, though, so I don't want to just turn it off (plus I paid $25 for it...). Thanks!!

    A few things:
    1) By default, iTunes Match puts *nothing* on your iPhone. It just lists the songs that are in the cloud, and you can download them if you choose to. It seems like that's what you want, but you say you're not getting it. You don't have to delete everything you don't want. On the contrary: You have to download everything you do want. I'm confused.
Basically, my phone is already completely full (32GBs) of music and a few high def videos at the moment. I *want* about 24GBs of music on my phone right now. I *have* about 28 on there. It is nice to have that 24GBs of music on my phone because iTunes Match doesn't work perfectly - sometimes if I am driving, and I click play on a song I want to hear that isn't on my phone, it takes 20-40 seconds to start to play (with songs/mixes over 30 minutes, this can be several minutes). I want to keep a lot of songs on my phone, permanently, all the time, and choose songs to add to that permanent list as I choose/download them.
Maybe this will make it a little bit clearer, I realize this isn't the easiest thing to describe and I've had a few beers: I downloaded (by clicking play on my phone) songs I don't want to take up space on my phone. I clicked play on them, on my phone, while driving in my car. Heard that song once, now I don't want to hear it again for awhile, and I certainly don't want it taking up my precious space on my phone. Now imagine this situation times 100 or so.. that's 100 different songs (a few of them very long mixes) on my phone that I have to go in and manually delete by swiping. I want to do it from my computer.. it'd be way easier to find them and delete them.
Anyway, I think the answer is that there isn't a way to manage my music with iTunes Match enabled on my computer. No big deal, I guess, just suggesting there should be easier ways.
    2) You actually don't need iTunes Match to redownload a song that you forgot to sync over, as long as it's a song you purchased in iTunes. Anyone (match subscriber or not) can redownload iTunes-purchased music, tv shows, apps, and books right from the device in the iTunes app.
I have never downloaded a song from iTunes, so this doesn't apply.
    3) In your mind, what are the features of iTunes Match on the iPhone other than makin your entire library accessible for download from the cloud? As far as my logic takes me, if you want to manually control what's on it, you specifically don't want iTunes Match enabled, and I don't see any other reason you would want it enabled.
The only feature I am using iTunes Match for is to download music I haven't synced to my phone, onto my phone. I just want to be able to delete it later from my computer. I guess I want to be able to see the songs I have downloaded since the last sync so that I could easily delete those songs.. Yes, that would be a good solution.
