Itunes movie problems help!
I bought a movie off of iTunes. I try to put it on (i manually move everything onto my iPod) and an error message comes up. It says, "(title) was not copied to the iPod (my iPod) because it cannot be played on this iPod."
umm... I thought that my iPod could play video. I checked the file properties and it is an .m4v file. I have enough room on my ipod for this movie and i already have concerts and music video on my ipod as well, so what's wrong with this?

there could be a reading error on the ipod. certain ipods cant play some movies because the same thing happened to me and i took to the apple store and they rewrote the reader so the movies can play. I suggest you do the same.

Viewing purchased iTune movies problem.
Why is iTunes is now not playing half of my iTune movies.
I'm having the exact same problem. I've restarted, reset, and restored. Restarted the router. Same thing. No content shows up with music, and playing tv shows, or movies just loops me back to the title page. Netflix works. Hulu works. I can download, and play all content on the iPad. And the iPhone. Just not Apple TV.
It worked fine until last night as well... Very disappointed. -
Black Screen when trying to play iTunes Movies PLEASE HELP
This is my set up. I have an iMac running OS X (10.5) and a mac mini running (10.6) this mac mini is hooked up to my tv in the living room, it also is fitted with an external hard drive (this is where my itunes media folder is located for my mac mini). I enabled home sharing on both macs and they are both authorized to play my media. I recently downloaded two movies on my iMac and transferred them to my mac mini. Now here is the problem. I can play the movies fine on my iMac but when i try to play them on my mac mini all i get is a black screen with no sound. The movie is playing on the mac mini because i see the time bar moving but nothing is on the screen.

Is it possible to copy music files from my iPod Nano to iTunes? I lost all my music files from the computer and I have them on my iPod. I need to get them into the computer.
ThanksIf your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation, also it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. Relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
I've been having problems with iTunes for a long time now and have yet to find the solution.
I store my complete library on my external hard drive. When I import a CD into the iTunes on my Mac that had previously been imported on another computer, my iTunes refuses to recognize the artist and album information. It only recognizes the track number and track name.
I had imported tracks on a PC in WMA format, and converted them using iTunes on my PC to WAV. They showed up in my iTunes on my PC just fine that way. I then copied the new WAV files in their proper Artist/Album/Tracks folders from my PC's iTunes Media folder to my external drive. When I import those files now on my external drive to iTunes on my Mac, the files move to Unknown Artist folder on my external drive. I've got preferences set to place files in my external drive's music folder. What can I do differently?
I've tried "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" which then immediately takes files out of my organized locations and moves them to the Unknown Arist folder even when I'm not importing. I've also tried "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library." I tried just importing directly from a flash drive hoping it would copy files that were moments ago recognized correctly on my PC's iTunes to my external drive's Music folder correctly. Doesn't work. Still imports songs to iTunes with no artist or album data and places them in the annoying Unknown Artist folder on my external drive.
When I import a disc directly to iTunes (sending it to the computer's iTunes Media folder when my external isn't connected), it recognized the data correctly. Then if I connect my external and copy the files from the computer's internal drive to my external Music folder, delete the files in iTunes, and then import the files from their new location, they are then unrecognized as having Artist and Album information. A few years ago I had no issue moving files this way and everything stayed organized. I'm guessing Apple fudged something up in an update?
What the heck? Is there a different program I could use (whether on PC or Mac) that would import the disc information and keep the metadata attached and fix my issues? I eventually will need to transfer my external drive's files to another drive, as externals are not permanent storage solutions, so when I eventually import all my music in iTunes again I won't have the time or the energy to rename every track independently. Why doesn't the information recognized by iTunes remain associated with that file when I move the file to another location and reimport to iTunes?
Any help would be sincerely appreciated. This has been a long struggle for me with no answers and my music collection is extremely important to me.There have many reports here of large adds not running to completion. Sometimes it will die on a certain troublesome file, and sometimes there is no obvious reason.
Since you have verified that the individual files seem to be fine, the workaround is to add the folders in smaller batches. -
Need Help...Do I have The mother of all itunes software problems???
I am in desperate need of help. I have fried three new ipod touches in two days. I Purchased a new 32GB 2d Gen ipod touch on Mon. 11/24. Worked okay till Friday 11/28. When I tried to sync with new additions, a warning came up “the ipod could not be updated, an unknown error occurred (9)” That was followed by a windows vista windows warning “USB device not recognized”
When I disconnected the touch I found that it could not be started. Tried a forced restore pressing the sleep switch and the home button together. That did not work.
Brought the touch to my apple store genius bar on Saturday and they too couldn’t get it to work. They switched out the ipod with a new one. Brought the new one home connected it and it received the new ipod touch software download okay. But when it tried to sync the same problem repeated…the two pop up warnings as before and a second dead ipod!
I then synced my ipod classic with no problems, so it appears the itunes software is okay. I’ve scheduled another appointment with the local apple store genius bar again.
When I took the new fried touch back to the Apple genius bar, it was switched out again. It was activated (by the initial step ipod touch software download on their computer.
I brought my laptop with me so we could test the syncing. The syncing proceeded initially for several minutes, and then the dreaded pop up warnings appeared

The new replacement ipod touch was also fried.
The tech gave me yet another new ipod touch. He had never encountered such a problem and advised me delete and reinstall itunes and call the APL CARE 800 support number and go over the problem with one of their techs who have a broad range of experience in dealing with possible PC related issues.
As my other ipod has no problem syncing from the same laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520 using Vista) I am wondering if the problem might be a corrupted Itunes software problem that affects only the touch and not the ipod classics.
Has anyone heard of a bad itunes software related problem? I googled this and could find no info. Thanks for your help!If you click View, Show Sidebar you will see the other libraries under Shared in the left hand column. Click on the Library you want and you can expand it to select Music, Movies etc. Select whatever items you want and click import if you want to move them to your Library.
You will have to have all computers authorised with the relevant Apple ID's
Store > Authorise this computer...
This is separate from the Home Sharing username and password and is to allow playing of DRM Movies, TV shows etc from the other computer.
If both Computers use the same apple id this step is not required. -
I rented an itunes movie to watch on my iPad mini 2. Every time I press the play icon the screen goes black, says it's loading then it just goes back to title page. Help please? Thanks.
It has fully downloaded i.e. there isn't a Downloads tab in the iTunes store app with that film listed (Downloads won't show if there are no outstanding downloads) ?
If not then if you search for the film via the iPad's spotlight search screen (pull down the centre of the homescreen, but not from the very top of the screen) does it play from there or does that also fail to play ?

Error message "MPAVControllerErrorDomain error 3" will not allow me to play iTunes movie rental. I rented film 6 days ago. Please help.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Issue when selecting ITunes - File reads "ITunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of ITunes.
1. Re-installed ITunes and problem still exist, and
2. Re-installed earlier version of ITTunes (10.3) problem still exist
Need help!Finally (after extensive searching) found a solution for you my friend:
1) Open Finder,
2) On the top right search box enter .itl
3) Move to trash all the .itl Files you see then restart your iTunes, and your iTunes is back to you.

ITunes movie download won't sync to iTouch - please help!
I'm sure this question has popped up before. My apologies to those who are irritated by seeing it again.
I downlaoded a couple of movies from iTunes. I can see them in my Movies library. However, when I sync my iPod Touch they don't transfer so I can watch them. I would never have bought (not rented) them if I can only view them on my laptop. The Apple site goes to great lengths to say it is so simple, download a movie, music or more and simply sync your iPod! Sorry, but that just isn't happening here. What do I need to do to get an iTunes movie to play on my iPod Touch! Help!!!I have to be honest, I simply downloaded two flicks from iTunes and they are older - not likely HD. The first, National Lampoon's Van Wilder is the one I tried to sync several times. The second, Waiting, won't work either. I can play both on the laptop but not the iTouch.
I have spent hours looking for answers to this problem. iTunes sells movies to us and promises that they will work on our iPods. Why not simply sell them in a format that allows that? Apple people...answers???
I located a YouTube video that shows a third party software program that supposedly transfers movie files to iTouch compatible files. The sample showed a file being done but it did not come from iTunes. When I tried to do this, iTunes movies are not shown as files that can be accessed by the program. This is ridiculous. -

The Apple TV 2 doesn't show up under devices like the Apple TV 1, to send video and music to the Apple TV you need to use the Airplay Option which appears in the lower right corner of iTunes. -
How do I watch my iTunes movies, tv shows on my mac without having to download them all to my HD? I really want my Mac to function like my Apple TV since I have just moved and don't have my TV for another few weeks. Since I purchased my three Apple TV. I have had no need to download any of my movies to my Mac. Which has been great. However, I remember that I used to now have to do this... or did I? I am just frustrated because I want to stream all this stuff vice haveing to waiting for it all to download fill up my Mac's HD and then just delete. Someone help please?

While watching an iTunes movie from my Apple TV, why does my movie stop playing at the 1 hour mark? I'm assuming I have a setting causing this to happen, but I have no idea what setting needs to be changed. Can someone help me?
It's right at an hour (consistently), but the computer goes to sleep prior to that. It's as if iTunes goes to sleep. Also, it wasn't always this way. Originally, the movies played through without interruption. At some point, I guess a setting was changed, and now I only get an hour. Also. My energy settings are set to go to sleep at 10 minutes.

I use both a Mac and a PC. My problem is on my Windows 7 PC. I am getting the error message, "The procedure entry point sqlite_3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll. I am told this is related to iTunes. Any help out there? Thanks
With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Restart the programme all should be well
In case that your OS is (64 bit)
1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
3. Now paste it in the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
4. Restart the programme, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
