ITunes Movie thumbnails missing

I recently went into iTunes (11.1.5) and noticed all of the thumbnails in the "Movies" library are missing.  If I right-click on the movie and click on "Get Info" , the movie thumbnail is visibile.  If I do nothing more than hit cancel out of the properties of the movie, the thumbnail shows up for that particular movie, as if it re-establishes the link.
I've tried re-starting iTunes and restarting my computer with no success.
Is there a way to re-establish the link so all movie thumbnails show up without doing this for each movie, such as an iTunes repair, or iTunes rebuild?

If you have iTunes 10.6 and are in the US, you can now download preiously purchased movies.

It was Love Actually. It's been in my library a few years but is now missing. It's odd...it isn't even in the iTunes Store anymore. I think there is a rights issue because a message appeared in the store saying it wasn't available at this time in the U. S. store. Still, if I bought it years ago it should be in my library or I should get a refund....

Bought new iMac & moved (or thought I had) all of my music from the old PC to the new iMac. Have discovered several hundred songs are orphaned on old PC; I can "see" them with both machines turned on & iTunes open. "Missing" songs show in iMac itunes Shared folder. How do I move them all so I can then & retire the old PC?

From things you are saying, such as "shared folder" and having both machines on, it doesn't sound to me like you truly moved the whole iTunes collection.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

  • Movies suddenly missing in my library, from purchases, and from iTunes

I have recently noticed that numerous movies have gone missing from the library on my PC where all of my content is stored.  The files are still in my iTunes/Movies folder but will not play when I try to add the file back to my library.  In addition, when I go to my purchase history, it's saying that I have over thirty movies that are "not on this PC".  This all started happening after Apple added movies to iCloud.  I had the same thing happen when iTunes match first came out with TV shows on my PC.
In addition, one movie that I was looking for, "Cedar Rapids", which was purchased from the iTunes store, doesn't even show up on the store anymore.  It is not included in my prior purchases, nor is it in my library.  Other than my receipt, which took some time to locate, there is no evidence of this movie anywhere and there are numerous other examples like this from my library.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, is there an easy fix?  Re-downloading all of my movies or doing an audit to find all of my missing movies is not something I want to do.

You can only upload music from your computer's iTunes, you can't do it from an iOS device - when you subscribe to iTunes Match on your computer it should have scanned your music library on it and matched or uploaded any non-iTunes purchased music to it.
Do you have copies of those tracks anywhere e.g. on an iOS device or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If they are iTunes purchases then they should be in the cloud. If they were copied from CDs or bought from other sources then if they are only on an iOS device (i.e. you don't have them on a backup) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • How do I get iPhone movies into iTunes' movie menu in the sidebar?

I've tried to get iPhone movies into iTunes, but they turn into .MOV files and won't transfer!
I've tried exporting iPhone movie files from iPhoto into iTunes shared movie files (Movies folder), but
they don't appear in the iTunes movie list!  They don't appear in the iPad video app either!
    What's the story!  .  .  .  . thanks f

Allan,  I tried all you suggested.  I ended up with 'IMG' files in the source list, and they won't play.  When double clicked they try to open for a blink, then back to the list.
When exporting the iPhone video from iPhoto, what did you fill out in the dialogue box.  All I saw were selections referring to photos (jpeg, medium, etc.) I didn't see choices for video!  Wouldn't it be just as easy to just drag
the video from the iPhoto thumbnails to the desktop?  Am I missing something here?
    Thanks again

  • Why is the "All Movies" selection missing from Purchased Movies on Apple TV?

THere is no longer an option to search "all" of my Purchased iTunes movies in the Apple TV menu. It was nice to just scroll through all of the movies alphabetically. Now I can only search by ---- RECENT , SHARED, OR BY GENRES. This can sometimes be frustrating because a movie might not be listed in the Genre it Should be I.e. The Outlaw Josey Wales is not listed in Westerns but in Drama , or Big Hero 6 is in Action & Adventure not Kids & Family etc.
IS there anyway to activate this under some setting , or is it gone for good ? If gone is there a way to petition for the option to be brought back ?

We're just fellow users here and have no information as to why the episode might be missing, if it is. My guess would be some sort of rights hangup with a guest artist, the episode director, or something like that, but that's just a guess. You can try contacting the iTunes Store and asking:
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
but I suspect that they'll have no information, at least none they can make public.
    Regards.

  • How to sync and play itunes movies in 1080p hd on iPhone 4S/5/5s or iphone 6 plus

About 6 months ago I discovered iTunes was set by default to 720p. These MUST BE CHANGED TO 1080P!!!!!!!!.......So I installed FULL 1080P file on my laptop on iTunes...  When I download movies on iPhone 5s/iPad mini the file is 720p.... So within about 60 seconds of starting download of 1080p files into my laptop of iTunes purchases. It was at that moment that I realized it was that file my laptop has on file to sync to my Apple device...Ten minutes later when the first 1080P HD file was downloaded  I must say... The resolution is amazing... I now use this same process to install movie files from iTunes.. In FULL 1080P.. Not 720P... Works on my iPad mini also... Avatar is 5.4 GB if installed over Wi-Fi... However sync with laptop and file is 6.5 GB in size... Called Apple told them... No reply yet.... You must delete 720P files from your laptop... Look for file size in any movie purchase and you will see DOWNLOAD IN 1080P.. This will open preferences in iTunes for you to the correct tab so you can change setting to 1080p from default of 720p... DELETE any downloaded movies already downloaded into laptop... You can check file quality by right click on any movie folder and the look at movie info... Will say 720p HD... Delete to recycle bin and iCloud will appear on each movie... Now download 1080P HD file... When completed. Right click any file to verify it is 1080P HD... The sync with device...... And get ready to be upset with Apple for holding back your device for the last 2 years 3 months and 16 days......And be ready to catch your jaw from hitting the floor when you see your screen in full 1080P HD.... Apple Engineer's were asleep.....
    <Edited By Host>

Currently There is only one option to watch 1080P movies from iTunes on your Apple devices... With a sync with a laptop.. Apple by default sends the 720P file... Users have no option to control video download... Some like me want the full file... Some uses may think the 720P file is fine... However I see the difference... And it is big.. The iPhone has a 1080P camera... So it can play and store a 1080P file... And the screen does display a better image... Just watching a iTunes movie and shooting a video in 1080P on your iPhone and you can see the image is better.. YES it's 1080P... not 720... Apple has know from release of iPhone 5 on September 21,2012 iPhone can play 1080P file... However the system is overloaded as I seen on my Apple T.V. On Christmas say ready to pay is 8 hours 22 minutes... I pay for 50MBps download and 5MBps download.. fastest I can get in my area... It's obvious it will load Apple's network and the don't want to make the changes... Users now wanting 1080p files for iPhones/iPads.... The system load would jump off the scale... I contacted Apple told them the issues, currently they have stopped emailing me replies on the issue after issue was escalated to Apple engineers... Apple knows... Yet...
I want control of what file I download into my device over Wi-Fi... Apple has missed the ball for over two years... Missed it rolling down the hall... Missed it bouncing down the stairs.... Missed it as it rolled across the street and is still going with no fix yet....

  • HOw do I watch my itunes moves from myMacbook air through HDMI connection

I purchased the HDMI cables for my Macbook Air and connected to the TV to watch my purchased itunes movies. The TV screen went black. Am I missing a step?

iTunes does not have provision for automatically storing one kind of media on a separate drive, so you have some basic decisions to make first.  Do you want these movies to still appear in your iTunes library, or are you content with browsing filenames on a drive in Finder when you want to look for one?  The second's the easiest thing because then you don't have to have an external drive permanently turned on and attached to your computer (wired or wireless).  To do that you literelly only need to drag your movies folder to an archive drive and delete movies from iTunes.  To watch them again you can add it back to iTunes while holding down the option key so the movie is used from its location on the external drive.
There's ways to move the movies to an external drive while keeping them in iTunes but the external drive iwll always have to be turned on and connected to the computer or you will see a bunch of broken link exclamation marks.
Realize what you are talking about is not "backup".  Backup (which you should do) is putting a second or more copy of items on external drives for the day when your internal drive fails and everything on it is lost, inclduing all your home photos and perhaps things that have been pulled from the iTunes Store and can no longer be re-downloaded.

  • Can't access iTunes movies extras on 3.0

Maybe I'm just missing something, but I can't seem to find out how to access iTunes movie extras in 3.0. It's supposed to be there, but the one movie I have with it doesn't give me any noticeable option to access them.
    What am I missing here?

Not trying to offend, but if you don't know that any of the things you are suggesting should work then it's not really helpful. I have yet to see anyone who knows Extras to work.
simply offering advice. at no point did i say it would fix the issue.
if you had specifically said you had already tried the obvious stuff then i wouldn't have suggested it.

  • Movie thumbnail previews in Coverflow and Grid view...not there

I'm using Snow Leopard and have both QT-X and QT 7 Pro on my MacBook Pro.
In Finder, I have a folder containing several movie types including mpeg, avi, mov, qt, m4v, mp4, flv and wmv
I've noticed that I don't see thumbnail previews for any of these movies and wondered if anybody else can see their thumbnails, either in Grid View or Coverflow
In 3-column view, the thumbail appears once the file is highlighted.
In iTunes, the thumbnail also appears (for those that can be added to the Library)
I also have the latest Perian and Flip4Mac apps installed.
I've tried re-launching Finder after deleting the com.apple.quicklook.plist file
    Thanks

I also tried this (deleting the Quicklook cache) and no luck, still the same issue.
I did a clean installation and this works
However, I did again the installation and imported my USER profile in FULL via the assistant when you first configured Snow Leopard (using an FULL BACKUP copy and/or Time Machine Backup) and then problem reappears
I have reinstalled DivX, Desinstalled RealPlayer deinstalled Perian and still the same issue. I cannot see the Thumbnails or the Cover Flow of the video/movie file such MPG, MPG, AVI, WMV but it works for MP4 I have for my IPod
I finally gave up and left this last installation and I did not have the energy to migrate my data, emails, settngs, etc manually.
By the way, the upgrade from Leopard 10.5.8 towards Snow Leopard 10.6 was smooth but the performance was awful specially after installing 10.6.1. With the upgrade I had the same issue with my USER account or with any, NO THUMBSNAILs for most of my videos enough though they are played correctly in Quicktime and Quicklook....
    Any help????

  • .m4V files don't appear in iTunes until played from iTunes' 'Movies' folder

Some .m4v camcorder movie files (from a recent .avi conversion using Handbrake) just don't appear in my iTunes 'Movies' library until I double-click on them in the iTunes 'Movies' folder. Handbrake did the batch conversion and placed the converted files in the iTunes 'Movies' folder.
All of the converted files are visible in that 'Movies' folder of iTunes. And when I double-click them they play in an iTunes window. iTunes 'Movies' section seems unable to display them until they have first been played from the iTunes 'Movies' folder. Am I missing something about the way iTunes handles .m4v files?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Any idea what the issue might be?
    Thanks.

    Problem.
I just tried turingtest2's suggestion and it didn't work.
I converted an H264 .mov file in Handbrake and output the conversion to the 'Automatically Add to iTunes' folder. But it was not added to iTunes - it ended up in the 'Not Added' folder and remained there until I played it from that location. Then it immediately turned up in iTunes 'Movies' folder.
The Handbrake conversion was to an 'Apple TV' compatible .m4v file.
Any idea what the problem might be?

  • Movie Thumbnails when syncing??

When I connect my iPod and try to select movies to sync, I have the option of syncing all/none/some movies. I have a lot of movies so I can't sync everything. When I try to sync only those that I select, iTunes creates thumbnails for EVERY movie/TV episode in my library. It takes up half my memory and "stalls" for nearly 20 minutes while it processes the thumbnails. Is there a way to disable this? Maybe by-pass this? I don't select individual movies but playlists/folders. Is there anyway around this? Anyone know if Apple is aware of this issue? I'd appreciate any ideas that someone might have. Thanks.

Do a Spotlight Search for movie on iPad.
    1. From any Home screen page of iPad, drag your finger down anywhere on the center of Home screen.
    2. Spotlight search will now appear and you can search for apps, texts, or any other content you'd like just as you did on previous versions of iOS.

  • ITunes Movies Disappearing

I am in the process of migrating all of my iTunes content to a new external device (it was previously on a smaller external device) when I noticed something.
Several of my purchased movies showed up as "in the cloud" (ie I hadn't downloaded them) when I had.
No big deal I go to my previous HD open the folders for those movies and they are empty.
Go back to my HD before that and open the folder only to find the same thing.
Even the external drive I used for my laptop which had copies of some of these movies was empty.
The next curious fact... every single one of the missing movies has iTunes extras attached to it.
Now I know what you are thinking I must have accidentally deleted these movies a long time ago and that is why they are gone but let me explain to you my file structure:
iTunes/Movie/The Other Guys/The Other Guys (acutal movie)
Now all the folders are still there but over 50 actual movie files are missing. I could see me accidentally deleting one or two but >50 all while leaving the folders they were in intact?  I am not that energetic I would have just deleted the entire folder.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening before?
The movies are all still available so I am just downloading them again but that is a time consuming process as you can imagine and I don't want it to happen again if I can prevent it.

    *UPDATE*
So I used my back-ups to re-populate the missing movies and then had the system add them to the library.
Then I checked the list for "movies in the cloud" and about 23 of them are gone again.
I go back to the folders I just put them in and sure enough they are empty, again.
Is there some glitch with iTunes extras and this version of iTunes (every single title is one that has extras) as was the previous listing.
I am going to try and add them individually using the add to library and copy to command built into iTunes to see if they stick that way.
