ITunes.msi
everytime i try to run my iTunes, an error alert pops up telling me "the iTuens application could not be opened. A required iTunes component is not installed.Please repair or reinstall iTunes.(-42404)"
so i then try to reinstall iTunes, and it wont let me. I try to uninstall iTunes and once again it wont let me. I am even unable to delete the files from my C: drive. All because of that missing 'iTunes.msi' file. Has anyone run into this problem before or know what I can do to fix it??

i am trying to install itunes 10.5 but I get an error message that says "click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package iTunes.msi..." If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.

I was unable to open iTunes and got a message error 7 (windows 126) so I tried to uninstall and download latest itunes 10. When I tried to remove old version of itunes I got the message... The feature you are trying to remove is on a network resource that is unavailable and when I try to download iTunes 10 the message reads.... The installation source for this product is not aailable. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. Can anyone help?
A msi file is short for microsoft installer. It normally is for installation, removal, and maintenance for a program. So iTunes.msi would be used for the updating of the program. For some reason it isnt finding this so we can't update, install, or remove it.
From what I have seen windows installer cleanup utility solved related problems before.
I found this forum about removing and installing a new iTunes. It was about someone who was trying to isntall iTunes, and was looking for msi file and asked for help. Using this should allow you to be able to install iTunes. It won't give you the msi file but will allow you to isntall iTunes over again.

After trying to run the iTunes automatic update, I got this box on my pc "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I ran a search for the file, and entered that into the box, to no avail. Then I launched iTunes and clicked on 'check for updates', and was told I had the latest version 11.0.1 I think it is. Can't uninstall/update Can't find iTunes.msi file
Something happened to my itunes. Could have been my daughter's creative genius or any one of a thousand other things....
All I know is (and I don't use iTunes a lot) I can't get iTunes to load. When I click on my desktop icon or try to run it from my Start menu, I get: "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
I trid to reinstall and I get this:
"The path 'C:\Documents and Setting\All Users\Application Data\Apple computer\Installer Cache\iTunes7.3.0.54\iTunes.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder which you can uninstall the product iTunes."
so I am thinking if I can uninstall it, then I can reinstall it and have it work. But I can't uninstall it, even with the remove programs function.
I should add that I am not a computer whiz to any instructions should be very easy to follow. (Assume I am not going to know what you are talking about

I installed iTunes a couple of years ago....have lots of songs, purchase more all the time....and run an i phone, i pad and i pod....I use the ipod for music only. Trying to update the iTunes, which it asks me to do when I open up iTunes on my laptop....I go to update, and it can't get all the way thru....stops and gives me that message saying it can't find iTunes.msi or something about the pathway to it...how do I fix that?

Multiple Copies of iTunes.MSI file
I am in the process of cleaning up my older Sony Vaio system disk (XP Home), and noted I have multiple copies of iTunes.msi and Quick Time.msi files in a subdirectory entitled *'downloaded installations'*. Some dates go back to 2005. Is it advisable to delete older versions or are all versions/dates necessary to remain on the system? I also noted many ipod updater files from 2006. Are these necessary along with *restore.jpsw files to be kept? I'm hoping there is a concise file listing of whats really necessary to keep vs. install or update leftover files. Most of these are 35Meg+ so I have a lot of disk space being used right now for these older files.
Thanks in advance...............I never noticed theose before! I had several. I got rid of them all after a quick google convinced me I'll never need them again.

You can try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall during the download the iTunes installation
Also try posting in the iTunes forum since it is not an iPod touch problem. -

So whenever I try to download the newest itunes file it won't let me finish the install process because I'm missing the "Itunes.msi" file whatever that is and I've done some searches but I cannot find the file. Anyone know what to do?

iTunes has tried to update itself and runs into an error and tells me to manually install. When I d/l and run the iTunesSetup.exe file I always encounter the following error message...

An error pops up saying that the file isn't found and then when I link it to the file, the error says it isn't a valid itunes.msi file. I had iTunes on my PC but it won't work properly so I am trying to re-install or update it. Neither works.
So I tried installing it and when I did it stopped at a certain point, giving me a message about "not being able to write to the file C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\ iTunes.Resources\fr.lproj\ipodsettings.nib\objects.xib"
problems with language resource files and folders (i believe that's one of the French ones that you're having a problem with) are often produced by disk damage around the areas of the files in question.
so perhaps let's try running a chkdsk over your C drive. see:
