Itunes mucks up other programs

I have been using Itunes (new version) on Windows 7
I was importing a CD on Itunes...I tried to open a file but then all of the icons of my other programs suddendly turned into the Itunes symbol and underneath the icon with the name of the program ended with 'ink' so nothing worked...I had to uninstall Itunes to get everything back to normal. I re installed it again and the everything turned into the Itunes icon with 'ink' at the end again. So I can't use Itunes anymore. How can I re install Itunes without this happening? I need it

It's a bit of a long shot, but there is a lot of extra disk activity at the time of track change over.
I haven't heard of Norton AV causing a problem and I have Norton 2007 which doesn't cause this problem for me. If you fancy trying anyway, try putting iTunesLibrary.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml into the exlcusions from virus checking.
Another possibility is to see if forcing iTunes to recalulate gapless playback helps.
With iTunes closed, drag iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml out of your iTunes folder to the desk top.
Restart iTunes and you will have an empty library. Try adding your iTunes Music folder with File>>Add folder to Library and see if the problem changes after galess playback calulations are complete. (You could just add a few tracks if you want the gapless calculations to complete quickly)
If no good, you can just delete the new iTunes Library.itl from the iTunes folder and copy the old one back from the desktop, you don't have to copy the xml file, that is recreated automatically. (With iTunes closed).

Good luck. I tried to do this to cue sound effects for a theater, and never found anything. iTunes will definitely *not* do this, nor was I able to find any player that would play one song at a time in a single playlist.
In my case, I ended up using AutoHotkey to tie individual tracks to the keys on an external keypad. This was an excellent solution for my problem, but I don't think AHK runs on Macs.
One workaround is to make a folder, and fill it with *shortcuts* to the songs you want (ie, the actual files). You can change the names to start with numbers to get them in the right order. Then if you double-click on one it will play just that song. You'll still have to double-click on each song.
Might be a good time to learn AppleScript It would also be pretty easy to write a Java app to do this.

Opening itunes videos in other programs, valid reason honest!

Hi guys, i've been a user of itunes for a hellishly long time now and have just got round to downloading my first episode of Lost on the UK store. However stupidly i forgot that the files are protected.
Now the reason that i would like to play them in other programs is because i am unable to get surround sound from quicktime player or iTunes, however Windows media player does allow me to, but obviously these files don't allow me to play them in WMP
So is there any way that i can get round this, or is it a lost cause.

Sorry, but there's no way around it. Videos purchased from the iTunes Store can only be played in iTunes or QuickTime Player (or of course on an iPod, iPhone or Apple TV). I don't believe that any of the videos are provided with surround sound anyway, though I could be wrong.

I cant burn a cd from itunes or any other program

i was having a problem connecting to itunes store, but after some time i just downloaded it again and installed it. Now Im unable to burn a cd from Itunes and now realized i cant burn any dvd/cd's from any program in my computer. has anyone got a solution for me please?

Does iTunes clash with other programs???

I can no longer run iTunes on my computer (I just get a microsoft error saying the program had to be shut down because of errors when I try and load it).
I have deleted it and reinstalled it (different versions). I have tried all the troubleshooting I could find online...and I still can't get it to work.
The thing is, I can't get it to work on my husband's computer either, which tells me that there's possibly some program we've each put on our computers which is stopping it from working (otherwise I have NO idea). I have tried to delete all programs that I've installed since using iTunes that may have caused the problem, but to no avail, so I'd like to know if anyone else has had a problem like this.
I am worried that the only thing I'll be able to do is basically to reformat my hard drive and reinstall everything (total pain...)

I have figured out what's wrong, so it's all okay (it was a problem with Quicktime, which needed to be totally deleted and then reinstalled)

Importing iTunes music to other programs

Ok so i love making videos. I use Corel VideoStudio Pro X3. I ussually use music from my iTunes library for my videos. I could easily import iTunes music right into Corel's library. Well I was well on my way to finishing a video when a couple of days ago, all of a sudden, Corel wouldn't play iTunes music. And when i try to reimport music from iTunes, it gives me the file format mismatch message. I think it started happening after I got the latest iTunes update. Itunes 9? i think. I would really like to know why all of a sudden I can't use iTunes music for videos.

Does iTunes still play everything correctly? If so, then it's most likely an issue with the Corel software that you'll need to take up with them. Note that VideoStudio doesn't, according to Corel's web site, accept AAC files, so make sure the files you're trying to use are MP3 or WAV.

Can hear iTunes, but not other programs

I recently did an update to iTunes and ever since then, I can not hear sounds from other sources, such as if I go to Youtube. In the sound settings, I get that there is "audio device detected". When I try to listen to a system sound, I get a message that says "Windows can not play the sound because the sound card may be in use". But I CAN hear iTunes.
Also, I have tried a system restore to a point prior to the iTunes update, but Windows didn't recognize any changes and would not go back to the restore point. Also, in device manager, it says the sound card is working properly.
Any ideas, if iTunes caused this?

TS4526 Cable, internet, Netflix, iTunes library. Can use Amazon Video for iTunes library? Other program? OR Must have AppleTV for iTunes library?

I have purchases from iTunes movies and TV. I can play Netflix and Amazon TV. I also have TIVO thru which i connect my TV. .Amazon indicates that it can download iTunes. Can I use Amazon to play my iTunes purchases OR must I have an AppleTV device?
Also have 3 yr old large screen VIZIO hd TV. If I have to have an ATV, can I connect it through an hdmi on side panel? Or do I have to use a rear hdmi connection? How do I then connect CABLE>TIVO>TV and ATV?
Too many hdmi cables, not snuff hardware knowledge!

I think what you mean is that it's not possible for two Macs to access the same iTunes library (ie. the same collection of media files) at the same time. From my research, this seems to be the case, and that's not my issue.
In my particular situation -- one that i'm sure is shared by many others -- my partner and i have separate user accounts on the same Mac, +entirely sharing a single iTunes Library+ (ie. same media files, same playlists, etc., as if we were a single user) and as long as we remember to quit iTunes whenever we walk away from the Mac (allowing the other to log in and launch iTunes and access our common library), this is not a problem.
And that is when my particular problem arises: when we launch iTunes, we are often asked to choose a Library (a series of navigations that my partner isn't entirely comfortable with), and occasionally the Data folder on the TimeCapsule is unavailable.
As for the wireless connection to our library, this has not so far proven to be an issue. Depending on what other activities are going on at the time (ie. TimeMachine backups or background Internet activity, i presume), i have only rarely experienced brief interruptions in music streaming from the TimeCapsule (<1 second). In fact, last night, we watched a movie on the laptop, with the file streaming from the TimeCapsule, and it only hesitated a few times, and again for less than a second.

Other programs use iTunes scripting?

My pc runs windows 7. I have 64bit itunes v 10. When iTunes is open I can't use Firefox. It won't run scripts. when I close iTunes it reports other programs are using its scripting. There is a count down and then iTunes closes. There after, Firefox works.

I download Adobe reader and it the symbol takes over every icon on my computer...I am then unable to open the Internet, itunes or any other program files. I have tried to download several times and it happens everytime.

Recently the hard drive of my macbook failed, causing me to lose all of the contents on it - including my music. It wasn't of too major concern for me considering I have my iPod and have ripped music from it to iTunes before. Alas when I attempted to do so today neither iTunes nor any other iPod transfer program (senuti, phone to mac, irip) can recognize it. The music is still on there and I can still listen to it, I just am unable to access it on my computer apparently. Is there any manual way to move the files? iTunes continues to suggest I restore my iPod, but I really don't want to lose the almost 3000 songs I have collected over the last 5 years. I am having a problem when I try to select a photo or itunes song in Imovie or other programs. I get a window with grey lettering that says: "Open Itunes to populate this list" or "Open iphoto to see photos from your iPhoto library in this list. I have tried relaunching programs and nothing appears. Seemed to start happening a while back after one of my system upgrades.

After a a lengthy conversation with Apple Tech. ($20), my problem seems to be solves. The Iphoto problem solved by trashing the plist file. The Itunes was more involved. We had to create a new Itunes folder and import the files into the new folder; and then import the playlists.

Itunes 11.1.3.8 shows a speaker icon in front of the seclection but it is not playing. the progress bar does not move. there are speakers attached to the system and all other programs do profuce an audio output.

Go to the Edit -> Preferences-> Playback
In The bottom section of the page click the drop down menu by Play Audio Using and select Windows Audio Session or something other than "Direct sound" or whatever it displays. Click Okay. This worked for me! I hope it works for you too!
