ITunes Multiple Account Issue

Hello All
I recently purchased an I Phone. I've installed I Tunes on my PC and have had no issues. My wife decided to try to create her own play list to be used with her Ipod. Now her play list name is on the top of Itunes and I've had no success getting back to what was my play list on my Iphone. I've tried to delete some audio and video in this play list on my phone and they are still on the phone. When I try to sync items, I'm asked if I want to delete my library and config with this one. I've tried to search on my PC to look for file that my library was named but have had no success. I would appreciate any help on how to maintain separate accounts for the Ipod and Iphone.

Okay, the standard location for an iTunes library file on XP is in:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
(Where <username> is the name of the user account in which you created your library.)
So, quit out of iTunes (if you had it open).
Hold down your Shift key and go "Start > All Programs > iTunes > iTunes".
Click choose library.
Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\. Do you find library files there? If so, try opening the one just called "Library" (that's the default name for an iTunes library). Does your music come up?

  • Multiple account issue

I have several accounts. Generally I send mail via whichever accounts suits me (eg when on the road I use a dialup account using one server and at home a broadband account). But I only use one account, and email identity, for collecting my mail. So I want to use the same incoming mail server with different outgoing mail servers. I can do this with no problems in all my other email programs (eg Eudora), but Mail prevents me from doing this. Mail prevents me from saving an account has a incoming mail server the same as another account. I can't imagine why Apple have set up this constraint, but I can't find a work around. Any suggestions (and my apologies if this has been discussed before but I could find anything when I searched the files)

When creating an account in Mail, an account named folder is created at the first level within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account.
Due to the Mail.app account and associated mailbox filing structure at the Finder level, you cannot create multiple accounts in Mail that use the same user name and incoming mail server.
If you have a primary account and the account provides for adding additional email addresses or alias accounts that use the same user name and password as the primary account when the incoming mail server is checked for new mail for each email address, you can add each alias email address to the Email Address field separated by commas under the Account Information tab for the primary account preferences.
Messages received by each email address will be deposited in the Inbox mailbox for the primary account and when sending a message, you can select an alias email address to be the sending email address for the message from the account selection directly below the Subject field.
This doesn't help with the SMTP server selection but you can add multiple SMTP servers and change the SMTP server for an account under the Account Information tab for the account preferences.

Can I merge purchases from two separate iTunes accounts on one account?

If you mean iTunes libraries, locate the files and drag them into iTunes when the other library is loaded. If you mean iTunes Store accounts, click here and request assistance.

  • Itunes email account issues. PLEASE HELP APPLE.

I made my itunes account in middle school and I forgot the password to my aol email account. I need to change it to my current email but I just don't know what to do. This is an issue because I've purchased a **** ton of music off the itunes store in the last few years. I can't link it to my apple id account because apparently trying to add an additional email address to your apple id account sends a confirmation to the other email. So I'm kind of stuck. HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Thanks Windows Live mail worked and connected unlike the Windows Mail App. Also the error messages are not appearing like they are when you go to email through the  bt.Com web page.
Are other people experiencing error messages when sending emails through the bt.com web page
For now I will stick with Windows live mail

  • Multiple Accounts Issue

    So here is the deal...
In my family we have 3 iPhones, One for my dad, mom, and myself. They have their own mac and I have one for myself. Before iCloud we had one Apple ID that we shared. This allowed us to share all our iTunes purchases and do some other stuff with apple TV and the like. Now with iCloud I would like to have my own account and I want them to have their own, but I still want to share the purchases. Should we use the same Apple ID for iTunes purchases and then use different Apple ID's for iCloud. Will this work? Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

    Hi, User321,
I am sorry to read you, too, are experiencing problems contacting Skype Customer Service.  Please do try again, even using a different web browser than you normally would use as well as choosing a different path through the various steps and drop-down menu choices.  Remember to approve a pop-up dialogue box that should appear if you are diverted to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent.  People are getting through.

  • Strange Multiple Account Issue

Ok, so I use two iTunes accounts. I buy most of my applications on one account however I bought a few apps on the other account, and now iTunes thinks all my apps were bought on the account. So now it won't let me update any of the apps I purchased on my other account because it prompts me to sign into the account they were not purchased on. Any solutions for this?

I had this problem too. I wrote to Apple and it turns out I have to be logged in on both accounts with the different passwords. I couldn't remember the password for the account I don't use much so had to request a new one.

  • ITunes Store Account Issue

I used my iTunes account to get an iPad bought for my Mom going. Now, even after after entering her iTunes account the iPad requires my password to do things like read books she has purchased using her account. Any ideas of how to rid my iTunes account from her iPad? (When I view account info on her iPad it shows only her account but still asks for mine password to use items purchased).
    Thanks for any ideas.

    Hi,
I sure hope someone can help with this.
I just bought an IPad, the 64 gig one, and just learned when I was trying to start it up that I had to go to I Tunes and couldn't because I'm still running Tiger/10.4.11 on this machine and it requires Leopard/10.5 to start up the IPad. So, I went to my newer machine that has Leopard 10.5.8 and went to I Tunes and that didn't work either because I am not connected to the internet on that machine and don't plan to be.
Now, you all might say: why not upgrade this machine to Leopard? and I don't plan to do that either because I have older apps here that I can't use if I upgrade the system.
So, what on earth can I do? why on earth do I have to go to I Tunes? I had no idea that I would have to do this.
I only want to use the I Pad for my email because I'm traveling and for internet surfing.
I'm not into purchasing much at this time.
So, does anyone know what I can do? is there a way out? do I have to return this wonderful tool that I just purchased and so much wanted to use?
I'm leaving so soon I can't deal with too much at this point other than trying to find a way for this to work.
Thanks so much for your help!

  • Multiple itunes accounts issues...

I have an itunes account under my username/password, my wife has a separate account under her username/password.  Can someone help me understand why the exact same information (songs, playlists, movie list, etc) pulls up on itunes regardless of which account we are logged in under?  Should I not log in under her name and see her music, etc?  Login under my name and see mine?  Why are these merging and how can I fix this?

Why do you think you had to create a new .me account to enable iTunes Match? All you had to do was enable it on your existing iTunes Store account ID.
Be that as it may, iTunes Match does not transfer across iTunes store accounts; it is associated with only one account. However, your use of the word "sync" in this context is confusing and unclear. When you use it do you mean you are physically connecting your iDevice via USB? Because iTM does not "sync" in the traditional sense. So what, precisely, are you trying to do? Set up iTunes Match or sync your iDevice? The two are mutually exclusive.

  • ITunes Match issues syncing multiple accounts

I recently signed up for iTunes Match to sync my MacBook Pro with my iPhone 4s and iPad.  The problem is that it will only correctly sync my .me account.  I have missing album art and songs depending on which account I am signed into at the time of a sync.  I am at the point of leaving both iCloud and iTunes Match.

  • What are the options to use itunes with multiple accounts on one computer

I am totally confused; apple phone support seems to have no clue at least the person I spoke to. I want to get two iTunes accounts on one computer, one exists already. I am not sure what apple allows in this case. I was told at a apple store that if you create another PC profile you should be able to get the second iTunes account on the same computer with the new windows profile. There seems to be no info on the discussions board to this issue.
I do not want to share an account and have a second library I think it would be too confusing for the other person. Is this possible?

You can purchase music using multiple accounts within the same Windows profile & using the same iTunes library. I think when you log into the store it remembers the last account name used, but provided you don't let it remember your password then you have the opportunity to enter the correct details for each purchase.
If you're going to place these purchases on your respective iPod's the following may help.
*How to use multiple iPods with one computer*
The Apple support document How to use multiple iPods with one computer suggests a number of ways. I use method two (Sync with selected playlists) with a slight twist. Rather than regular playlists I set the grouping field to indicate which users should receive which tracks and create smart playlists based on the content of this field.
    e.g.
"Alice's Tracks" is "Grouping contains Alice" + "Kind contains audio"
"Bob's Videos" is "Grouping contains Bob" + "Kind does not contain audio"
Tracks that both Alice & Bob want on their iPods have the grouping set to "Alice/Bob"
    etc.
I currently manage our family's five iPods using this system, each getting a different selection to suit their tastes and the capacity of their iPod. An advantage of using the grouping field is that it is stored in file tags (for non-wav audio files anyway) so that it is relatively easy to recreate the playlists should the iTunes library get trashed. Also useful if you move files about manually as playlist membership is preserved when you delete & re-import the tracks.

  • Sharing one iTunes library across multiple accounts on the same Mac

Hello, I've poked around at some of the posts dealing with sharing one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac but it seems like this can only be done if the libary is moved to a shared folder. I realize this can be done but I was trying to share it the way it is described in a post on Apple support (See link below.). That post seemed to imply that you don't have to move the library from its original location (owned by account A, e.g.), rather just make a couple preference changes in the accounts, use fast user switching and voila. That doesn't seem to work. So my question is this: Is the only way to share one iTunes music library across multiple accounts on the same Mac to move it to a shared folder? I'm running 10.4.8 on an Intel iMac. Thanks in advance!
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93195

After reading this and several other related threads, I am becoming thoroughly confused about all of this. I have a situation similar to the one that pokerpal described in the post dated January 7 at 8:06 pm, except that the music files on my system are located on an external hard drive. Everything else is pretty much the same though - I am the admin user (and the main iTunes user and maintainer) and my girlfriend is a standard user who has no music in her own iTunes library. She can see and listen to and make playlists from and sync her iPod with the music in this library from her account, and I can do the same thing, independent of her, from my account. And if I make a change to information within a song, she doesn't see it, and vice versa, and I understand that. What I don't understand is why when I add a song or an album to the music files by importing a CD or downloading something from the iTunes Music Store, she has no way of knowing that unless I tell her, and then she can add it to her library by using the "Add to Library" function. Is there no way of automatically updating her library files to add the new song(s)? We have almost 15,000 songs and videos in that library, and I don't even want to think about what might have to happen if the answer to my question is "no." Interestingly enough, if I put an update to a Word document in the same exact location (on the hard drive), we can update that and pass it back and forth all day - why is that such a difficult task for iTunes to accomplish?
Sorry I went on so long, but this has been building up for some time, and none of the solutions I've read about here have really been of any help, so I'm a bit frustrated and, as I said at the beginning, confused.

Hi iCloud is Making Me Go Crazy,
You will need to create a new Apple ID for your GameCenter and iCloud services.  You can continue to use the current Apple ID you share with your Mom for access to iTunes Store purchases if you wish.

  • Question about multiple computers on one iTunes Store account

I have an iPad which I need to sync with several (actually 8) different Macs around the country. This is the nature of the work I'm doing at the moment. I plan to set all 8 Macs to the same iTunes Store account. I don't need to authorise them to play music or video, but I do want to be able to transfer content and apps I purchase so that I can backup the iPad whichever office I happen to visit. If I purchase an app in one office, presumably I can download it again for free on any of the other Macs should I need to. Understand that this is purely so that I can sync and backup in multiple locations without losing my apps or content.
Does anyone know if what I'm proposing will work? Is the "Authorized Computer" limit purely a limit on playing back content in iTunes? Or will I be prevented from syncing my apps and content on more than 5 computers?

What is not yet clear is quite how the new rules square up with the old rules that one account can be authorized on up to five computers and up to five accounts authorized on any one device.
Unless I'm much mistaken I think you can backup an iPad/iPhone on any computer running iTunes without authorizing it to any of the individual accounts that may have been used for purchased content on it first, although transferring purchased content from the device to the computer does require prior account authorization.
Since you can re-download apps at any time and, at least if you are in the US, now re-download previously purchased music, I think you should be fine. Thought I'd still suggest that it might be easier to take a portable version of your library with you than set up eight independent instances of iTunes.

    1) I have multiple accounts at the iTunes store and none are now associated with my purchases...I think because passwords have been associated with various id’s and I can’t log in and access those purchases.  I want to get back to being able to use one id and password and be able to access those purchases.
    2) When I upgraded my iPhone 3gs, to the latest version 5.0.1 (9A405), is when I noticed that i couldn’t update my applications.  There are two names/accounts on the phone and prior to the update there was just the one.  I have tried entering every conceivable password that I have ever used and get the incorrect password error every time. The apps on the iPhone are apparently associated with several/different accounts.  I just want to get everything back to the way it was.  One id and one password with purchases associated with just one account that can be updated on my computer as well as my iPhone.

  • ITunes account issues

So....I have some questions about iTunes home sharing.
My family backs up our main iTunes library to our 27" iMac, with the majority of the tracks being saved onto an external hard drive. I have a 17" MacBook Pro that I take with me to work every day-can I still sync it to a Home Sharing with my iMac at home? It would only be connected to the network at night. And if so, how is this different from having it connected permanently to the network with my iMac?
Also-can a Home Sharing network use multiple iTunes accounts? Me and my dad have different iTunes accounts (for password and download reasons), and it would be excellent if we could sync both of their music/app purchases to the Home Sharing.
And finally, if we can't use multiple accounts, how hard would it be to merge our two accounts together?
Any support would be greatly appreciated.
