Itunes Music has a lock on it

So I bought a new Verizon phone that plays music. My husband was able to download some of his songs from his cell phone to my card reader, but when I tried to put the songs from Itunes on my card reader it has a lock in the upper left corner. I'm on my computer staring at my songs that have downloaded onto my hard drive with a lock on them and I don't understand or know why there's a freaking lock there. How do I get that lock off?

You are probably going to need to look at the specs for yoru Verixon phone nad see if it will play AAC files, which is what the iTunes store sells. And it proobably can't play any older files that have DRM, but that's a guess.
I am not sure where you are seeing this lock, either.

I have my library stored on an external drive that I keep turned off when not in use. If I accidentally start iTunes with that drive off, it recreates the original iTunes Music folder and directs itself there.
Can that behavior be stopped? It seems like there should be a way for iTunes to send a pop up or something, rather than this automated over ride to manual settings.

Yeah, I know I don't have an end of the world scenario here.
But just remounting the drive doesn't do it. I have to go back into iTunes and reset the folder location. Then wait several minutes as it all reorganizes itself.
I know just leaving the drive on is the easiest answer. It causes too much of a domestic dispute about all the blinking boxes I have running all the time. I have convinced her that the green one on the AEBS has to be on if she wants internet.

Hello, I sure hope someone can help me. My itunes music has ALL disappeared....and when I tried to replace it {I guess it's known as import it from my CD} it seemed to remain forever on 0.02 and would not move on to the other song....I became frustrated....and ejected the CD....and got a pop up window telling me pretty much that this was a no-no....anyway...I clicked on my itune icon to open it up and start with another CD to import music....well now my icon won't open and everytime I click on it to open I get a pop up window from Apple...asking if it is ok to make changes....I click yes...and nothing happens....I also tried to see the compalibility and it is now telling me it is not combatiable......well it was yesterday and the day before...and even a few minutes ago...when I was able to open it once....What does this mean? I just had my computer cleaned out.....could it have been something they did? Do I have to uninstall it and reinstall it?? Also when I first opened itunes....I got a pop up window saying something to the effect...that I had 2 itunes and was only allowed 1....and did I wish to transfer my purchases....and I can't remember what else it said....I chose transfer....and those were the only songs I could find on my itunes before it wouldn't let me open it again.....Can someone help PLEASE.....newbie here

You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card installed in the phone.

check the itunes folder location. preferences>advanced>general.
just you know check if it's pointing in the right direction.
I think your purchased music should still be in your music folder.

ITunes ID has been locked?

I just got an email stating that my iTunes ID has been locked and that I need to confirm my account information within 48 hours. It asks me for all the usual information that would be very helpful in getting my identity stolen. Is this a bogus email? It does not tell me why it has been locked. The email is address that sent it is:

I don't want to enter in all of this information and I have no idea why my account would even be locked.

ITunes music has just disappeared

Okay, first off my main problem is that all of my library of iTunes has disappeared (1500+ songs).
I'm running version 7.6.1.9
I do believe this could be a user error, as while it was saving my music library I shutdown the computer.
I have tried to go about restoring the library from a previous date, but when I double click the file, it loads up iTunes, but nothing happens after that.
So any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.

The same has happened to me. I had opened it and it was empty. I dragged my music folder into the iTunes app, and everything goes in fine. However, under my podcasts, all of the previous files showed up, but when I clicked on 'subscribe', that particular podcast listing disappeared. (edit: this was fixed by importing an older .xml file, keep reading)
My .xml and .itl files are from October, and would like to include the increase in my library since then.
My main question now is, is there anyway I can get my playlists back?

ITunes music has an Echoe or Skipping

I did not have this problem when I first installed ITunes a few months back after purchasing my Ipod. I have allot of music on my laptop but I decided to upgrade to a new version of ITunes and my computer plays the music fine for about 40 seconds and than begins to Skip or Echoe and I'm unable to determine what the issue is has anyone seen this?

Non purchased itunes music has suddenly disappeared

All of the music in my itunes on my pc has suddenly disappeared, with the exception of the (small) amount of music that I have downloaded from the itunes store. I am assuming that the files are still on my pc hard drive somehwere but that itunes for some reason is no longer locating them. Any suggestions anybody?! Thanks.

I am having the same problem, upgrade of computer from Dell 754 to Dell 900, XP to 7 so because I do not have an external harddrive, have synced my iPod touch to my new iTunes on new computer. Now my delimma is how do I get the 'purchased' iTunes list to my music library. This is 700+ songs not seen in my music library.

I have just turned on my computer, then itunes.
What I found was nothing. I store all my files on an external hard drive and wasn't connected when I first loaded it up.
I have tried loading up itunes with the hard drive and even my playlists and videos have gone.
How can I reload all the tracks without manually putting all my music, videos, photos and podcasts?

Visit the store, log in and download again, what you can get. Apps are no problem, even videos.
Regarding music, this is not since ever that you can download music again. So if there are older purchases, like from 5 years ago, you can't simply download them again from the store.
In this case, contact iTunes support saying you lost all music purchases from before a certain date and kindly asking if they would make that available for download for you and most probably they will. The store keeps your purchase history, so they can verify.
After all or at least most of the stuff is ack on HDD again - make a backup! And later, regularly make backups again. Remember it.

My email account that I registered for my iTunes account has been locked by Microsoft and cannot unlock. What now?

When registering for a new iTunes account you have to fill in an existing email account.
The problem is that my account has been suspended by Microsoft and I have no way to recover it,

ITunes Music has no volume

I recently installed iTunes on my HP Media Center PC and using EZ Vinyl Converter, created a file with album tunes. When playing the tracks in iTunes, I see the progress bar, but there is no volume. None of my volume controls is on mute. Suspect incompatibility with computer speakers and iTunes. How do I troubleshoot?

I figured it out. was controlling volume from keypad, instead of top bar!

Apple´s new price politics is bad for their business. I am now using other vendors with lower prices when ever possible. Happily there are severeal alternatives.

Music has suddenly altered pitch

All my itunes music has suddenly turned high pitch and the sound of the songs has changed so it sounds stupid and i don't know why or how to turn it back to normal?! I scanned my computer and got rid of any threats that it could have been but i don't know what to do to get all my music back to normal. :S

I had the same issue this morning. Music and podcasts that had been on the iPhone last night are gone after a brief sync this morning. Checking the settings page shows 0 songs and 0 videos but only 1.9 gb of free space. I hope the reset fixes mine as well.
And Apple, your patch screwed something up here.
