ITunes Music List

Hello,
I received a new iMac for Christmas. The iBook I have has all the purchased items listed under the "purchased" menu in iTunes. Since setting up the iMac and using the same iTunes account on the new iMac, the purchased items do not appear listed under the "purchased" menu in iTunes on the new iMac.
Although I have copied all of my music library to the new iMac, and I have all of the purchased items listed under the "Music" menu, I would like to retain the list of purchased items under the "purchased" menu in iTunes. This helps me with keeping a record of all the items purchased from the iTunes store and music ripped from CD, etc. Is there a way to populate the "purchased" menu in iTunes other than dragging each file to that menu? There are a significant number of files. Is there a file local to the iBook that can be copied to the iMac that is referenced when iTunes is opened and that would populate the "purchased" menu in iTunes?
27" iMac; 2.66GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 ; 8GB Memory; 2TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA hard; 10.6.2

You should be able to recreate the list by creating a Smart Playlist where:
Kind Contains Protected
and
Kind Contains Purchased
This should get both songs and videos and both non-DRM and protected tracks.
You'll also want to set it Match ANY not ALL.

  • Downloading music from my ipod to itunes music list

i am trying to take my music from my ipod and put it on my i tunes list can you help please

There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • More songs in my iPhone music list compared to my iTunes music list?

On my iPhone 6 running IOS 8.1.3, I currently have 1624 songs.  After syncing with iTunes on my Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.2, the count at the bottom of my total song list is 1613 (a delta of a 11 songs).
I do not have any duplicate songs after running "Show duplicate items" in iTunes.  I know I have 2 podcasts and 1 music video but I don't think this is included in the song list.  Although, the number of albums seem to match up just fine both having 1016 in total.
I appreciate any tips on how to figure out the difference or what could be causing why I have 11 more songs in my music list on my iPhone.

This is a common occurrence.  I had about 2 songs difference about 2 years ago, rectified it, and the cause was something like a free song or two I had downloaded onto the iPhone.
If it bothers you, here is the process to rectify:
In iTunes on your Mac, sync your iPhone.  Then while the iPhone is plugged in, go to the iPhone's Music tab in iTunes and uncheck "Sync Music".  Then click "Apply" in the lower right.
This will clear your iPhone of all previously synced music.  It should leave behind the extra 11 songs.
Do what you like with these songs.  Then recheck "Sync Music" and click "Apply", which will restore the 1613 songs to your iPhone.

  • MP3 files play in WMP just fine, but won't appear in my iTunes music list

I just started using iTunes on an external hard drive, and after adding my music some albums & files won't appear in the music list. No matter what method I use to add them they still don't show up, and so I can't put them on my iPod or even play them through iTunes! I have seen several similar posts, and I can tell you that the tags are fine, and all the music was ripped from purchased CDs. So does anyone know why, and how I can get them to show up like they should?!

I posted the same issue earlier today, hopefully someone can help. As time goes on I'm starting to believe more and more this is a bad bug with the new iTunes.

  • How to fix a problem of access to itunes music-list from iPhoto

I cannot get access to my Music list present on iTunes from iPhoto  (diaporama), nor from iMovie  (the music icone is fine, click open it, but it is empty)
However access to iTunes Music is possible from the former iMovie HD application that I kept.
    Thanks for your help

There  have been mixed reviews on Photosweeper - I have not personally used it and recommend one of two known programs for duplicate identification -
    Duplicate Annihalitor - http://brattoo.com/propaganda/ - or Decloner - http://www.pixelespressoapps.com/decloner/
The face that your library is getting larger not smaller indicates that something is amiss
As to TM questions for detailed answers the TM forum is best - basically you launch TM, go to the time you want, select the iPhoto library, click restore and when ask if you wnat to keep both say yes and place the newly restored library in the location of your choice

  • Why does itunes randomly put my music in my trash and how can I get them back into my itunes music list? How can I prevent it from occurring again?

Itunes has randomly placed some of my songs (it has done this a few times now. Not all of them but at times hundreds/thousands) in my trash and I don't know why this happens. How can I replace them back into my itunes music library? Is there a reason this is happening? What can I do so it doesn't happen again?

  • Is there a way to automatically sort/filter the itunes music list by files that  cannot be located?

I have quite a lot of files that can't be located, and want to delete them all at once rather than clicking on everyfile to choose delete. Does anybody know of a way to sort the itunes listing so that I can group them all together to delete, or a way to automatically purge them all from the itunes file?

But is there a way (simple or not-so-simple) to find
out EVERY SINGLE FILE that's referenced on a
timeline? (I have lots of stuff imported into the
project that I know isn't used on any timeline, but
I'm afraid of moving or deleting things for fear of
    never finding it again.)
I'd love to get some sort of "printout" (a list or
    something) of every single file.
There is, go to browser and cntrl click on any one of the columns,
and select - show/source. A new column named "source" will pop up and will show where everything "lives". Click on the header at the top and it will justify the column as well. You'll notice this won't show anything for your seq.'s. of course, but will show stills/audio/motion files...
Once you have the new column, you can drag it next to the "name" column and get a grab of it and print it if you like, or whatever.
If you want to do this for just 1 seq., then can create a new bin and double click it to open it. Cntrl-A (select all) in your main seq. and just drag all into the new bin. You will see only what's in that seq. with the "source" column right next to it.
From what I've read, you seem to get the MM thing and it's obviously what you'll need to do to archive as the guys said. But what your missing is a file path system to where everything resides.
Hope this helps and that I've read you properly,
    Peace

  • HT1199 My iTunes music list all have the exclamation point.  I do not know how to find the files to restore the music.  Any advice?

All the songs in my iTunes have the exclamation point.  I do not know how to find location of the music...any suggestions?

Ok, your music could be in one of a coupel formats, MP3 or, more likely, Apples AAC format, which has a m4a prefix.  Open Finder.  Hold Command and press F, this will open a search window in the top of Finder.  Type mp3 here, let it search.  If it finds your music files, double tap on one and "open Enclosing Folder"  That should show you where they are at.  If nothing is found, try searching m4a instead.  One of the two should show you where your music is.

Even one time would be fine.
No idea what your problem is.
Perhaps you could use proper (or at least understandable spelling) and don't use all CAPITAL letters.
It is difficult to read and considered yelling (it's rude).

  • HT1473 I am trying to upload my itunes music from my ipod to my computer.  My current Itunes library is listing the songs, but cannot find them when I try to put them on to my iphone.

I am trying to upload my itunes music from my ipod to my itunes on my computer.  My itunes music lists all of the music, but cannot find it when I try to load it to my phone.
The songs are on my ipod, but not on my phone and I don't know how to get them from one device to the other.

In your case, it would be better to have transferred the library to an external drive from the PC. Then, connect it to the iMac and put the library onto the Music folder.
You used Migration Assistant, and it creates a new user with the transferred data.
Open  > Log Out, and log in the new user. Then, open a Finder window, choose Music in the sidebar and you will see the iTunes library. Now, you have to move the iTunes library to /Users/Shared (select Go menu -in the menu bar- > Go to Folder, type that and copy the iTunes library to it). Finally, log in the other user, go to the same folder and move the library to the Music folder.
After doing that, open System Preferences > Users and Groups, choose the user created by Migration Assistant and press the - button to remove it. This is easier if you have an external drive

  • ITunes. Entire music list has the exclamation marks and I can't open music because it cannot be located. I'm 67yr old and need advice please.

I'm 67 yrs old and asking for advice please.
I'm unable now to play the music in my iTunes playlists. 90% of the tunes have exclamation marks now and I can't 'locate' the music. How can I locate the music or remove the exclamation marks on my iTunes music list?

Typical reasons for missing files are, you've deleted the files, they are on a disconnected external drive, or the drive has a changed drive letter, you've moved the folder where the files live in some other fashion, a third party app has rearranged the files, or iTunes has got confused about the layout they are supposed to be in.
Generally you need to work out what has happened, reverse the action and everything will be alright again. If it is something you can't/don't want to undo, e.g. a drive letter change, then as long as you can track down the current location of the folder containing the media then my script FindTracks should be able to reconnect it to iTunes.

  • Itunes Music Library via Cloud on macbook

I have my main itunes library on a pc with icloud match service at home.  I use a macbook pro at work with icloud to sync with my iphone calendar-contacts etc.  I cannot get my itune music list from home pc via cloud to my macbook pro at work.  When I turn on itune match on the macbook, it asks if I want to subcribe to match (which I have already subscribed).  The macbook is authorized with my itunestore account.   Any suggestions?

Unless your TV is capable of converting digital to analogue (most aren't) then passing the audio through the TV won't work/
There are 3rd party converters that would convert optical to analogue.

  • I am trying to edit my music list and then sync it to my iPhone 5 so I don't run out of storage space. However, I see the check marks on the iTunes library but am unable to uncheck them? How do I manually edit what will be synced to my phone?

I am trying to edit my music list and then sync it to my iPhone 5 so I don't run out of storage space. However, I see the check marks on the iTunes library but am unable to uncheck them? How do I manually edit what will be synced to my phone? (the check marks are not bolded, does this mean they are not in my library but only on my phone?)

You uncheck the music in your iTunes library on your computer and along with sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, only checked songs in your iTunes library will be transferred to your iPhone or remain on your iPhone and the unchecked songs in your iTunes library that are currently on your iPhone will be removed when syncing.
Or make use of iTunes playlists and choose selected playlists, albums, artists under the Music selection for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes and select the playlists below that you want transferred to your iPhone.

I want to put all my music onto an external hard drive.  But I can't get it to put music on my itunes.  The music list is completely empty and so is my IPOD.  How do I do this?  I have a PC with Windows.

You say the music is not on the external HD, the music list (iTunes?) is empty, and it is not on the iPOd. Then where is the music you want to move to the external HD?
