ITunes music to Apple TV via Airplay no sound

Please help.
If I am playing music from iTunes 11.0.5 on my MacBook Pro and I use Airplay to sent the sound to my Apple TV it starts playing with sounds as expected.
But 75% of the time when it continues to the next track or song there is NO sound! I can see it plays because the play counter is running on iTunes and my Apple Tv aswell, and it Scrobbles to Last.fm.
I then have to pause and press play, or skip back to beginning of the track to get the sound back. Otherwise it can continue to play the rest of the album, just without sound.
I've tired updating all software and firmware. OS X, iTunes, Apple TV and my Time Capsule.
I've tired disabling the Equalizer. I've tried restarting iTunes, Apple TV and my laptop.
I've run out of ideas to try.
What can cause this issue? Does anyone experience anything similar?
Sidenote:
I first thought it would be the fact that my iTunes media files are stored on my TC and the .itdb and .itl are still on my local HD in Music iTunes folder. But there is no problem when playing music on my iOS devies using shared library (home sharing) with the Music app. Only when Airplaying to my Apple TV.
Apple TV2 5.3(6105)
Time Capsule 4 gen. 7.6.4
iTunes 11.0.5
Any help or ideas is really appreciated, i'm going crazy here

My network and TIme Capsule seems be setup correctly and follow the guidelines of "Recommended Wi-Fi settings" as far as I can tell. But i connected my AppleTV with Ethernet cable, since they basically next to each other. It seemed to help i managed to play 6 tracks in a row . But the problem still persists.
It is strange, i've had this exact settings for years now. And i've never had a problem before iTunes 11 came along. And it is only Airplay to AppleTV that fails, not playing or accessing through Home Sharing.
But perhaps i should start thinking of other ways to store my iTunes media files. The Time Capsule HD is sooo slow reading time. But music, movies, tv shows and apps take up so much space that my laptops 125GB SSD is a no go.
But thanks for help and suggestions anyways.

  • Why is music streamed from my MacBook Pro to Apple TV via AirPlay choppy?

I'm trying to stream music from iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my new Apple TV via AirPlay, but the music is extremely choppy, cutting in and out. It's completely unlistenable. However, I can use AirPlay to stream from my Macbook Pro to my Pioneer VSX 1021 AirPlay enabled receiver with no issues. Additionally, I can stream from my iPhone or iPad to the Apple TV without these issues. Therefore it would appear wifi bandwidth is not the root cause. I'm stumped. Help!

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

how can I get an itunes movie from macbook to apple tv via airplay?

You don't use Airplay.  You set up Home Sharing on both and under the Computers section of AppleTV you'll then find it under Movies (or Rentals if rented), assuming it's in a compatible format.

  • Can't connect to Apple TV via airplay

Hello I have a 2011 Macbook pro and a iphone 5 and for some reason they won"t connect to my apple tv via airplay.  They see it and I can access my itunes library through apple tv but airplay simple times out.  Any thoughts?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • How to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite?

Does anybody know how to send computer screen to sleep whilst watching Apple TV via airplay using Yosemite? I've tried the hot key Shift + Control + Eject, but that sends the TV's screen as well as my iMac's screen to sleep at the same time. I don't want the 2 screens playing at the same time - I would like to send the computer's screen to sleep whilst the Apple TV continue's to play/mirror. Hoping someone knows how to do this?

Thanks Vazandrew for your detailed explanation. I think you've answered my question in that what I'm wanting to do is not possible because it is mirroring in its entirety, unless it is being done via iTunes.
I live in hope that Apple (can in-time) organise the same screen sleep capability that operates via iTunes for people wanting to stream regular online TV via iMac!
I would like to mark my question as answered by you, but had already checked the helpful star before going to mark the answered check mark. Didn't realise you could only mark one or the other…with no editing function.
Your explanation as to what is going on with the mirroring was much appreciated, as I couldn't figure out why the short cut keys worked sometimes (via iTunes) and not others (via regular streamed online TV).

Can you use your iPad alone to share iTunes music to apple tv without having to use your pc?

Do you have any music stored on your iPad or is it all on your PC?
If the music is stored on your iPad, then double tap the home button, swipe (left to right motion) and you will see the volume/brightness controls/AirPlay. Tap on AirPlay and select ATV. Then go into the music app

  • AppleTV tries to connect to internet radio while playing music from my Ipad via AirPlay

    As the title says..
When I play music from my Ipad mini via AirPlay, the sound drops every ten to fifteen seconds.
On the TV-screen it shows the info about the band, song etc, but when it drops I get a box with "internet radio" written inside, before the sound comes back, and everything is normal again. Very annoying to have the sound cutting like that multiple times during a song..
AppleTV (gen 3) is wireless connected to a Airport Extreme, and with HDMI-cable to a surround reciever.
The Ipad and AppleTV have the lates updates (IOS 8.0).
Tries with a 4S with the IOS 7.1.2 version, but it's the same story with that..

Can access Apple TV via airplay, but can't get to internet or iMac from Apple TV. Whenever I try to put my info in it says to try later. When I test network it says network time has not been set. It has worked previously.

  • Mirror zoomed-in movie playing on iPod Touch 5g to Apple TV via Airplay?

Is it possible to mirror a zoomed-in movie (1080p) playing on my iPod Touch 5g to the 3rd gen Apple TV via Airplay?
My Soniq TV doesn't have a zoom feature and I know that Apple TV can't zoom.
I want the movie to fill the entire screen of my TV (I don't mind cropping some of the edges off).  I can zoom in on the movie playing on my iPod Touch 5g but when I enable airplay mirroring to the Apple TV, it reverts to the 1080p format with black bands along the top and bottom.  I know it is using airplay and not mirroring to play the video on the Apple TV but I want to display exactly what's showing on my iPod Touch 5g on the Apple TV.  Is there a work-around or an app in the App Store that enables this?

  • Streaming from MacBook Air to Apple TV via Airplay mirroring causes stuttering

So... I'm trying to stream video from Safari on my Mac to my Apple TV via Airplay mirroring. Most of the time, the video starts off just fine, but after a while, it begins to stutter and lag on my Apple TV. The video is playing just fine on my Mac, but as it's mirrored over to the Apple TV, it begins to stutter and lag on the Apple TV only; not on my Mac. I then quit out of Safari, turn off wifi on my Mac, restart the Apple TV and restart my Time Capsule. Once I do that, it works fine, intermittently for a bit, and then starts to give out again.
I have a 2013 13" MacBook Air with 8 GB's of RAM, an Apple TV 2 and 3, a previous generation Time Capsule (802.11n), and 50 Mbps wifi from AT&T Uverse.
What gives? What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't this stream just fine under these circumstances?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    P.

    Hey vazandrew,
Thanks for the update on the encryption piece. I didn't know that. I thought you meant something like using a VPN.
And yeah, 4 years is a while. I just figured if the drive was still humming along all should be well. I didn't think that performance could be affected in this way just from using an old router.
The issue does occur on both Apple TV's. Near the Apple TV's are just my TV sets. One ATV also has speakers nearby it. The ATV's are not sitting inside of a closed space. They're on top of the entertainment unit. The rest of the appliances are below and inside the unit.
Near the Time Capsule is the Uverse Gateway modem for my cable tv, a Motorola SB6141 modem for my internet with Atlantic Broadband (I mistakenly mentioned initially that my internet was with Uverse), an APC battery backup, my HP printer, a USB hub, a power strip, and a couple of unplugged external hard drives.
    Thank you again.

  • I can't play a DVD from my superdrive via my macbook pro to apple TV via airplay.

I can't play a DVD from my superdrive via my macbook pro to apple TV via airplay.  The movie plays fine on the macbook if I'm not trying to airplay.  The airplay works fine if I'm not trying to play a movie from the superdrive.  I think my apple TV is Gen 2.

If you get a checkerboard pattern it's because Apple block Airplay Mirroring of protected media.
    VLC Player may work.

My wirelessinternet speed seems to be fine, however, trying to play a 1 minute video from my iphone to apple tv via airplay is so slow. Any fixes?

    >Any fixes?
Don't use WiFi for streaming video.  It is even worse for AirPlay since you are using bandwidth twice as it sends data from the iOS device to the router and then from the router to ATV.  Use an wired connection to go to ATV.   Even the high end consumer grade WiFi equitment is not great at doing streaming video.

  • Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

Can I use ipod touch 5th to mirror my screen on Apple TV via Airplay with out wifi connection?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Peer-to-peer AirPlay
With peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device and Apple TV don't need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. If you have one of these products, you can use peer-to-peer AirPlay:
    * iPhone 5 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation) using iOS 8 or later.
    * Apple TV (3rd generation rev A, model A1469 or later) with Apple TV software 7.0 or later. Find out which Apple TV model you have.
To use peer-to-peer AirPlay, your iOS device needs to have both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.

  • Can you share iTunes music w/Apple TV and Airport Express?

Can you share iTunes music between Apple TV and Airport Express?
I have been very happily using 2 Airport expresses to share my itunes library from my iMac to 2 other rooms. I just bought an Apple TV for the bedroom (and I ASSUMED to replace the Airport Express), and can not figure out any possible way to have the same music in 3 rooms any more.
    Anybody have any ideas?

I think you may have misunderstood the OP, I believe they wish to be able to walk from room to room and listen to the same music over the tv and the express. itunes will send music to the tv and the express at the same time but in two different streams, so even if you chose the same music over each device it would be quite difficult to sync.
