Itunes, My ipod error thing

When I go into my iPod on itunes every category works except apps which just goes kind of grey/white and doesn't let me click anything. Can someone help?

Hi,
You could see if this helps...

  • ITunes won't synch 80 songs at 128 kbps despite having 5.5 GB of space on iPod. iTunes or iPod error?

My 4th gen 30 GB iPod has 5.5 GB of space on it (this is what iTunes says before I hit sync). I want to add about 80 songs to be automatically downconverted to 128 kbps. When I try to update iPod, iTunes indicates iPod is overcapacity by over 19 GB and won't add new songs. Something is not right with either iTunes or iPod. Is anyone else having the same problem?
All I have is music on the iPod. No apps, no games, no movies, just music.
I just subscribed to iTunes Match. Could this be the reason why this is happening? Is anyone else having the same problem?

I'm having similar problems. Up until 4 May 2009 when I installed Windows 7 RC1 on it, I had one XP SP3 PC which was running iTunes properly and syncing and autofilling my iPod shuffle. The laptop described below no longer let me run or re-install itunes on it since I upgraded it to XP SP3. When I switched to Windows 7 RC1 on the XP desktop that was running iTunes properly, I was able to re-authorize that PC for iTunes 8.1 (64 bit) but after that, could not sync nor autofill, nor restore the ipod, but I could buy songs and play all my songs under Windows 7 RC1. Yesterday (Friday 15 May 2009) I got a new HP Compaq 6735s 2 GB RAM 160 MB HD, Vista Home Basic laptop and today installed a fresh download of iTunes 8.1 on it. Now that laptop won't let me even authorize iTunes on it. Any time I do anything in iTunes that involves contacting the web, it comes back with unknown error -3212 unable to contact server. This comes up when I try to authorize, and when I try to play some of my purchased songs on the laptop -- it demands that I authorize the laptop then tells me I can't (error -3212). Also when I try to restore the ipod, I get the same -3212 error trying to get to the update server. I turned off both the windows firewall and stopped the McAfee firewall but that didn't help. I renamed the Hosts file also without result. There doesn't appear to be a tech support email address or trouble reporting web form that can be used to report this and the search and troubleshooting FAQs on the itunes website seem to be pretty useless in resolving this. The phone numbers are either sales related or they want $59 an incident to give me a call back. Seems like Apple is drifting into the Yahoo and Google approach to tech support -- basically, "discuss your problems among yourselves, suckers, we're too busy raking in the cash to bother with your problems."

  • HUGE iTunes AND iPod ERRORS! From "missing files" to the "! Folder"...

My video iPod (30GB) was bought only about a month ago. It was working fine until a few days ago, when the Music Store wouldn't work. I tried to update it, but it stayed the same. I also saw a message asking to update my iPod software (forgot version #, but it's the newest one), so I opted to update it. I don't know if what happened next is a result of this, or if it just happened, but here's what happened:
I found my iPod off and when I turned it on, it shows the ! Folder and turns off. If I put it in disk mode, it is black and white and in smaller text (looks similar to the Mini rather than the Video). I couldn't get to anything else after turning it on besides disk mode and the folder. It makes that noise recognizing it, but it's not in My Computer either.
I tried updating iTunes, but I get a message (this is after trying to restore the system back to before I updated) "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." Of course I do about 5 times, but it does not work and I get the same message. Then I try to back up by using the CD given in the box to install it from there, but it says that there is already another version and I'd have to uninstall by the Control Panel. When I try, I press Change/Remove, but it only loads halfway and closes without doing anything. Therefore I can't get rid of my current iTunes. I see if I can update my iPod, but it says that there is an iPod Service error. It seems like Apple is out to get me or something. Please help, this was a "partial" gift (I paid half) that was pretty pricey for me also, since I am only 14. Any help would definitely be appreciated, and thank you all for your time.

YES it WORKS!!! After almost a whole week!
The help wasn't really on this site (mainly), but I'll tell how I got the life back in my iPod. Thanks for the reply though Hackstar18.
I used a DIFFERENT COMPUTER though (we have two) for this since the first one had a corrupt iTunes. I went to My Computer to see if my iPod was listed under there. At first, I didn't see one, so I disconnected it, and noticed that something called "Removable Disk (G:)" (or something along those lines) was removed from the list. Then I reconnected my iPod and it came back, so I knew the (G:) disk was it. I clicked on it, and it said it wasn't formatted correctly, so I decided to format it. It took about an HOUR to do this, but it finally formatted it. I then tried to update/restore it with my 2005 updater (I uninstalled 2006 one). It said "iPod manager internal error" which is different than the "iPod Sevice error" I was getting. I thought I was getting somewhere and that I was onto something, so I went on iTunes (it works on this computer). It showed me the popup where it asks the name and to register, and I was RELIEVED. I installed the 1.1 version and tried it, and after having to close the iTunes window, it recognized it and gave me the option to restore. Of course, while being shocked, I did, and after the short wait, I noticed my screen was back to color, it was responding, and it was back to normal! The update removed some of the things like the backlight option people were talking about and I noticed the options on the main menu were less, but it was back. I'm glad I DIDN'T request to get it serviced/repaired and send it in, because I was so close to doing so. Now, I just gotta transfer my old songs from my defective iTunes on the other computer to this computer.

  • ITunes 5/iPod: Error alphabetizing artists with accents

It appears that after my recent upgrade to iTunes 5 that any artists with accents in the artist name that are being duplicated 2-5 times in my artists list on my iPod.
For instance a band called "Dälek" would be listed multiple times since the iPod or iTunes is unable to identify where this artist should be placed alphabetically. This in turn caused any subsequent artists to duplicate (within the letter range) in the artist list on my iPod. This was never a problem in any other version of iTunes.
I haven't been able to identify that the accent is indeed the error, but I have since deleted the questionable artist and the problem was fixed. Also, the artist appears only once in iTunes and when you view the contents of the iPod in iTunes.
If anyone else can test this and confirm this to be the case I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Very rarely I get the program running, but as soon as I plug in the iPod the program crashes.
    hi Thomas!
okay ... doing some preliminary checking up on your situation at this point, because there are certain rare registry problems that "mimic" some of the standard errors.
what error message are you getting under these circumstances? "itunes has encountered an error ..." by any chance?
    love, b

  • ITunes to iPod error

During the initial loading of my 5G iPod, iTunes displayed the message "Attempting to copy to the disk "Bob's Ipod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I can restart the update and iTunes picks up where it left off. All songs on the iPod seem to work fine. Note: This is a replacement iPod. The first one had a HD crash within the first month. Any ideas on what's causing iTunes to complain?

  • ITunes to iPod error?(Audiobook)

I purchased an audiobook through iTunes. It is in my library in audiobooks, in my purchases file and is synced to my 5th gen 80G video iPod,in music as well as in audiobook folder (located in music folder) I drill down to the first of 3 files from the book but when I hit select or play it bounces me back 1 or 2 screens. I can listen to it from my iTunes. I have reset and restored my iPod. I have checked all my software and iPod software us up to date. What now?
I have not deauthorized and reauthorized my computer yet. I was not sure if that would wipe out my purchases. Going to Mexico for trip in a few days and REALLY want my new iPod to have been a worthy purchase. I am extremely thankful for anyone who has an idea or tip for me. I know you all read and post as a community I appreciate it so very much.

I managed to add it, but it will only play the audiobook if there's no music on it. Every time I sync music, it won't play the audiobook...

  • Ipod error message "one item could not be synced. See Itunes for more information."

I recently updated software for Itunes and Ipod Touch. Seems like sync worked after update to itunes, but not after update to version 5.0 (9a334) on itouch. I get the error message on the itouch, but can't find anything on itunes to help me fix the error. Itunes acts like sync is happening as it should. Diagnostics shows that everything is just fine except for the "helper" not running. I did have disk space issues, but deleted a bunch of content to open up space. Rebooted everything and still getting the same message.

Look at this discussion for a number of different things to try. Quitting apps and deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder seemed to work for a few different users.

  • ITunes displays -48 error message when syncing iPod Nano on Windows XP

My girlfriend's mom's iPod Nano ran out of charge while jogging so she decided to charge it on her daughter's iHome. The next day she went to use her iPod but it was totally empty of all music and files. When she tried to sync it to iTunes, she received an eror message stating, "An unknown error has occurred (-48)" from iTunes and a Windows message stating that some iPod folder/file was corrupted.
If anyone receives such a message, I was able to correct it by:
-Plugging in your iPod to your PC
    -Ignore the error messages
    -Go to My Computer
-Find your iPod's drive letter (ie. G:)
-Right-click on it and select Properties
-Go to Tools Tab >Error-checking and select Check Now
You should be able to sync your iPod as before. I do not claim to be an expert so be warned that it may not work for you. Good luck!

Make sure you have the Current Version of iTunes Installed on your computer
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download
    Then See Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
You may need to try this More than Once...  Be sure to Follow ALL the Steps...
Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...Re-Sync your Content
    Note:
To remove a forgotten Restrictions passcode you will need to  Restore the Device as New...
OR... From a Backup created Before the Restrictions Code was set....

If so, I might start with the following document (your error message is a possible symptom of the issue too):

  • IPod Classic will not connect to iTunes, tried many different things to fix but nothing worked

    What I devices I have:
I have a classic iPod and a dell laptop with windows xp.
    The problem:
iTunes and iPod work fine separately, however when I plug iPod in, iTunes will not open. If iTunes was open at the time I plugged in iPod, it freezes and wont function again until iPod is disconnected. [Once I left iPod plugged in for an hour and iTunes did open, but iPod was not noted as being connected.]
iPod charges when connected. Icon takes about 5 minutes to show up in my Computer folder. When I click the icon nothing will happen or the folder will freeze up. iPod doesn’t show up in Disk Manager either. Putting iPod into Disk Mode changed nothing.
    How it happened:
Once when I plugged in iPod a window (not an iTunes window) popped up saying that the device should be formatted or it may not work properly. Not wanting my iPod to stop working, I clicked ok and now my iPod isn’t working. Lesson: don’t click strange buttons
    What I’ve done:
    > Right clicking and clicking ‘format’ on the iPod icon while in the Computer folder – computer does nothing or freezes
    > Going to ‘reset your iPod’ – didn’t fix the problem
    > Restarting iPod (turn on and off)
    > Telling iTunes to prevent iPod from syncing automatically
    > Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes
    > Put iPod in Disk Mode, computer still didn’t recognize it.
    > everyother thing google and apple's self help section has recomended
    Any more suggestions?

    Assuming a PC start here:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
It is normal for the computer to recognize the iPod as a camera since thatis how one gets photos and videos off the iPod.

  • ITunes 7 gives error message when playing songs off ipod

Whenever I connect my ipod to my computer and use itunes to play songs from it...it gives me the following message whenever a song plays.
"iPod is in use and cannot be updated. The required file is in use."
Does anyone know why this would be happening? I have my iPod set on manual update and I have already installed and run the new iPod update so I have no idea why this is happening.
    Thanks.
PS. I have a new 5th gen. model iPod.
