Itunes need to install component (-42404) on Mac OSX version 10.4.11

To be able to make a purchase on Itunes I am receiving a message that I need to have installed component (-42404) on my Mac OSX 10,4,11. How do I do this?

Hi Footy,
For Error 42404 with iTunes on Mac OS X 10.4.x it looks like you need to download and install iTunes 9.2.1.
iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3258
Symptoms
If your iTunes is missing resources or encountering software conflicts, error -42404 or -42408 may appear when authenticating or downloading from the iTunes Store.
Resolution
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
You can download the latest version of iTunes here.
Note: iTunes 9.2.1 is the highest iTunes version available for Mac OS X v10.4. iTunes 10.6.3 is the highest iTunes version available for Mac OS X v10.5.
Best Regards,
Nubz

  • Can't install flash player on Mac OSX version 10.4.11

    Hello
I've spent the morning trying to do this and still no joy. I had flash player already and when trying to use the 4oD website it asked me to download or upgrade flashplayer. I did, the correct version according to my mac version. All goes well and the window message says 'installed successfully'.The only thing I find strange is that just before this message appears I hear the sound of items being put in the 'trash' ... and there they are. Other times the message error -1409 appears. The only icon that appears is the Flash player installer.pkg so not sure whether the application was installed or just the installer!  All web searches prompt me to download the missing plug in, both in safari and mozilla. Java script is definitely enabled on both browsers.
I have use the uninstall package three times, restarted the computer, downloaded flash player again but no change.
Forgive my limited use of jargon - this doesn't make any sense to me but I've just spent 3 hours following instructions to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the shockwave animation is not playing; and then this:
    Adobe Flash Player
You need the latest Flash Player and JavaScript enabled to view this content.
PS, I followed the Tech Notes on troubleshooting installation of flash player for mac intel computers, to the letter, but no change!
    Thank you

  • Need help installing Flash Player in Mac OSX 10.9.2

I`ve tried everything, my computer is brand new, and it`s driving me crazy.  Tried installing, uninstalling, everything.  Was able to install a previous version by dragging the .pkg file to the desktop, but when i try to use safari, it disables the program because of security incompatibility.  Please if anyone has had the same problem and fixed it, let me know.  Exactly at 50% progress, it crashes and a message to close safari appears, but safari is already closed.

Finally Got it!!!  Ok, here is what i did: it was a combination of two things i read in different forums.
1st: Go to System Preferences>Security and Privacy and in the "allow apps downloaded from: " section, select "Anywhere".   There is a file in the installation bundle from adobe that is not recognized as coming from an "identified developer".   I then went back to the adobe page and re downloaded most recent flash player.  Tried to reinstall it, and again the same problem as before.  Stopped at 50% asking to close Safari.  So i did the following:
2nd: This time instead of closing Safari by pressing the red button X, I pulled down the safari tab and clicked on exit safari command.  Clicked the retry button on the installation window and magic!!!! it worked.
Finally after 5 frustrating hours it worked....  I never thought i would run in to such a problem with a brand new Mac....  with the money i paid for it, would expect much easier performance in the upgrading process.... and compatibility with adobe.... an issue that should have been resolved long ago.  I guess its a problem on both sides....  some clearer instructions for upgrade would be greatly appreciated.

  • I need to install windows on my mac

I'm an architect and have found myself needing to use Revit at home, obviously to do this I need to install windows on my mac. After doing some research I've decided to use Parallels to run Windows. My plan is to buy an external hard drive, install Parallels on my Mac and then run Windows as a Parallels Virtual Machine from the external hard drive. I know this sounds complicated but I think it will work as long as a get a good external hard drive. has anyone ever tried running windows like this? any advice on a good external hard drive? all helpful comments welcome!
    These are my details
    MacBook Pro, 15-inch, Early 2011
    Processor:2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    Software: OS X 10.8.2
    Thank you!

I have tried it before with USB 2.0 external hard drive. In case you are going to use USB external hard drive then I think the performance will be better if you put the Windows on the local hard drive instead of external since the early 2011 MBP USB port is not 3.0 yet.

I need help need help installing snow leopard on mac mini 10.5.8 intel based so if u kno how pls message me thanks

You need to purchase the upgrade disk (it is a DVD). Then just put it in and run the installer. When it was first released it was $29 USD, do not know if the price has changed or not.
The usual precautions about backing up your data apply. In fact I would recommend either making a Disk Image of your current boot drive or using something like Carbon Copy Cloner to copy it to an external drive. I upgraded 5 machines from Leopard to Snow Leopard without any issues, but better to be safe than sorry.

  • Hi, I need to install Adobe Flash Player because the version I have installed in my Mac Os is old, but I can´t because I need to write my email and my password and I don´t remember my password, so what can I do?

Hi, I need to install Adobe Flash Player because the version I have installed in my Mac Os is old, but I can´t do it because I need to write my email and my password and I don´t remember my password, so what can I do? Thank you

The email and password will be the ones for your computer's security, not something for any Adobe product.  You might need to consult Mac customer support if you are unable to determine the required information.

  • Do I really need to install Adobe on my mac?

I can't watch videos on my mac so I install Adobe. I'm just wondering if I really need to install adobe or do mac do have a flash player?

If you wish to watch Flash based videos, yes you will need Flash installed on your Mac. It is ONLY available from Adobe. Any other site, or invitation from a pop-up to install/update Flash will most likely cause problems.

  • HT1444 I have a Mac OSX Version 10.4.11 and i want to know how to update software. Also i have Itunes 8.2 how do i update that?

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for $19.99 from the Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
    and in the UK:
    http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
but nobody knows for how long it will be available.
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
You should now see the App Store icon, and you now need to set up your account:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4479
To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

  • Can not install photoshop CS2 on Mac OSX. 10.9.5, It shows "error" no error number, suggest to contact the software supplier, only choice is to quit.

I tried to install Photoshop CS2 on Mac, OSX, 10.9.5.
By the end of the installation, it shows, error, but no error number for reference,
    The only choice is "quit".
    Please help

That is correct Das_Sad.  CS2 will not run on Intel based processors under Mac OS.  You will need to find a Mac computer with a PowerPC processor if you wish to run Creative Suite 2.

Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753).
If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:
    MB427Z/A  Leopard 10.5.1 install DVD
    MB576Z/A  Leopard 10.5.4 install DVD
MB021Z/A  Leopard 10.5.6 install DVD (single user)

After you install the base 10.5, download & install the 10.5.8 combo update at http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
The DVD should look like this
Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

  • HT4910 My iTunes is up to date on my mac OSX 10.4.11 - how do I get access to iCloud?

My iTunes is up to date on my mac OSX 10.4.11 - how do I get access to iCloud?

For iCloud, you need a version of iTunes 10, and 10.4.11 only supports up to 9.2.1.  10.4 offers no iCloud access, while 10.5 and 10.6 have limited access.  Only 10.7 and 10.8 are integrated with iCloud.

  • I have a Mac OSX Version 10.5.8 When I put in my disc to upgrade to snow leopard version 10.6.3 it tells me I need atleast 1gb of ram memory to download. what can I do

I have a Mac OSX Version 10.5.8 When I put in my disc to upgrade to snow leopard version 10.6.3 it tells me I need atleast 1gb of ram memory to download. what can I do

Your iMac can take a total of 2 GBs of RAM Max.
    Maximum Memory
    2.0 GB
    Memory Slots
    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
You will be able to install OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and it will run, but you may not be happy with the performance overall.
OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and later OS X versions use more and more CPU, GPU and RAM resources.
OS X 10.6, by itself, will use between 2-4 GBs of RAM to run quickly, smoothly and efficiently.
Start running additonal applications and your iMac is going to struggle.
Just fair warning if you notice that your iMac is running slower after installing OS X 10.6.
    Good Luck!

i have a mac osx version 10.6.8 no windows installed and i am trying to install a program but keep getting can not run in dos mode  ( the disk says on back works on intel mac with parallels or vm fusion) is this program not compatible with my mac?

You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

  • I can't install Rosetta Stone onto my new Mac OSX (version 10.7.5).  It says it "can't open application because Power PC applications are no longer supported."  Is there any way to install?

I can't install Rosetta Stone onto my new Mac OSX (version 10.7.5)
    Any suggestions?
The message says "can't open application because Power PC applications are no longer supported."
    Thanks!

Thank you... spoke to Rosetta Stone and they said the same thing, and the give a nice discount when upgrading.
Normally 5 levels of a language run about $479.  When upgrading, you can get the same 5 levels for $199.
    Fewer levels costs even less.
