Itunes needs apple application support program

Q ,there was trouble with my computer last night and a few programs were deleted. After a scan was completed my itunes will not work. It says that I need to reinstall apple application support program. I have tried to repair the program and I downloaded itunes again, but to no avail. itunes is in my list of programs. What am i supposed to do now?

Doublecheck to see if there are any leftover QuickTime program files and/or folders on the PC.
On a 64-bit system open the following directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\
If you see a QuickTime folder in there, delete it.
Now open the following directory:
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
If you see a QuickTime file and or a QuickTimeVR file, delete those two files.
If Windows won't let you delete either folder or files, let us know what the error message says.
If those files and/or folders were present, and you successfully deleted them, try another iTunes install. Does it go through any better this time?

Can anybody point me to just that file alone online please?

  • Can't run iTunes, Apple Application Support program missing.

Can't run iTunes, Apple Application Support program missing.  It's a brand new computer, never had iTunes installed.  I've attempted 16 installs, each time uninstalling the previous install and verifying no Apple software installed before trying again; I've also been using different browsers, still no luck.  Windows 7, 64 bit.

Try downloading 7-Zip (free), or a free trial of WinRAR, and unpack the iTunesSetup.exe or iTunesSetup64.exe file into its components then try installing them individually in alphabetical order (don't try to install SetupAdmin.exe or iCloud.msi). AAS might not install right now, but you may get a more useful error message as to why not, or it might install once the other components have been installed.

  • I keep getting and error when I try to start my iTunes. "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, Then install iTunes again. Error 2(Windows error 2)"....

I keep getting and error when I try to start my iTunes. "Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, Then install iTunes again. Error 2(Windows error 2)".... I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and the error still occurs!!! This started happening after I installed the 10.3 update

I took the time to research it and come across a couple of people who experienced the same trouble and so I listed some of there steps(with Credits) and  some people said that they worked.

OK, this worked for me:( Original Post by r0tt3n4pp13)
    1. Save iTunes install file to your desktop.
    2. Disconnect from internet.
    3. Disable Firewall/Security software.
    4. Run install. Note that it installs Application Support and a bunch of other software this time.
    5. Run iTunes.
    6. Enable Firewall/Security software.
    7. Reconnect to internet.
    8. Download Watchmen Director's Cut post haste.
    OR!
    (Original post by Cr4z33)
    1. Download and install WinRAR.
    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.

    Hello 14abes00
I would completely remove iTunes and other Apple software then install iTunes again. The articles below will assist depending on what version of Windows you have for your computer.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • I accidentally removed my apple applications support program from my computer how do i get it back on?

I had very little memory on my C drive and had to remove some programs to free some up but by accident i removed Apple applications support. How do i put it back on or do i have to remove and re-install the whole itunes program to get it to work again?

We can get it back in without doing an uninstall/reinstall, if you like.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe installer to your hard drive.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

  • Error after install iTunes setup: Apple application Support was not found

    Hello,
I am trying to install iTunes on my pc. During the downloading of iTunes setup.exe i get this error:
Something went wrong during the installation of this item. Microsoft. VC80.CRT, type="win32", version="8.0.5072.7.6195", publicKeyToken="lfrc8b3b9a1e18e3b",process or Architecture=x86"
I choose 'ok' and the download continues. When the download is complete and i try to open the iTunes setup its given the error saying:
Apple Application Support was not found
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunesHelper. Please uninstall iTunes then install iTunes again.
I tried this more than once, but its not working. I also tried to extract the iTunes setup.exe with winrar and then to do an install with appleapplicationsupport.msi, but its given the same error.
    Anyone please has some advice?
    Thanks in advance!
    Marieke

When I look at my control panel the only program that shows is "I Tunes".  No other supporting programs are showing up in the control panel nor the Common Files nor in the Program Files (x86).
That's an extreme case of this.
We'll try doing standalone installations of all the supporting programs.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR suitable for your PC (there's a 32-bit Windows version and a 64-bit Windows version):
    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install.
Doubleclick the AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi to do a standalone Apple Software Update install.
Doubleclick the Bonjour.msi (or Bonjour64.msi) to do a standalone Bonjour install.
Do those four installs go through okay? If so, does your iTunes launch without any errors now?

  • Deleted Apple Application Support program

I recently deleted my program for "apple application support". When trying to use itunes now,the window for error #2 tells me to delete itunes and reinstall. Will i loose all of my music on this PC? Have same music on an ipod. Thanks anyone.

Everytime i try i get this messeage, Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run
With that particular key, I think we'd better try a malware scan.
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hours on my Lenovo.)
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

  • Problem upgrading to iTunes 9: Apple Application Support not found

Today, when iTunes prompted me to upgrade to iTunes 9, I tried to do it, but once I got done, iTunes no longer worked. Each time, I try to open it, it says, "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\pthreadVC2.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." When I click out of that, I get an error 7.
I have tried at least three times completely uninstalling iTunes & QuickTime, then reinstalling, but the result is always the same. I've spent the last three hours trying to fix this problem; meanwhile, neither iTunes nor QuickTimes works.
I cannot find how to download the Apple Application Support anywhere on their website. Is this a bug in the new version? HELP PLEASE!

i have the same problem i've been without itunes about 3 days, and in my screen appears a box saying QTCF.dll not found, and then i get error 1 HELLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What is this Apple Application Support program?

Alright, I'm running iTunes on the following systems:
    Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
    Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
    Windows 7 32-bit RC
Linux Sabayon (after some mods to the iTunes code; yes it's possible to run iTunes on Linux)
I just upgraded to this new version of iTunes, and as I was uninstalling the unnecessary crap that comes with iTunes (Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Suppport, etc.), I ran across a new entry that said "Apple Application Support". What is this? I searched Apple's website, and nothing of great significance comes up.

Hey you're lucky you got it. My fresh install of iTunes 9 installed without it and now it won't run.

  • I tried to download the latest upgrade and got the following: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support\ApplePushService.dll

I tried to download the latest upgrade and I got a message telling me "The application or DLL ProgramFiles/CommonFiles/Apple/Applie Application Support\ApplePushService.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." and then below that another message "iTunes was no installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  I tried reinstalling and it still will not work.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)
