ITunes needs to close - Sync Outlook contacts or calendar

I installed iTunes 7 after purchasing iPod. Everything works ok but if I select to sync contacts or calendar using Outlook (Outlook2003SP2) a error message appears: "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" - Error signature:
AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 7.0.0.70 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 35f7ddc9
After closing iTunes I restart it again and some seconds later the same error message appears. I have to deselect the "sync" option and everything returns ok but I could not have my contacts or calendar on iPod.
I saw a FAQ page explaining how can I export the contacts or appointments (as files) but I would like to know why this "sync" option doesn't work before do this "workaroud".
Any ideas that could help me solving this problem?
Thank you in advance!

This is the best remedy on the web for getting MANY contacts to sync from Outlook to your iPod.
First of all, you need to open iTunes and connect your iPod to make sure that you have enabled your iPod as a storage device. TO do this just look for your iPod in the DEVICES and select it. Summary Tab  Check the box, “Enable disk use.” Then make sure you click, “Apply” in the lower right corner.
In Outlook, go to Contacts and select all the items you want. You can use shift-click and control-click to choose multiple items. Choose Actions > Forward as vCard. This creates a new e-mail message with all the Contacts you selected converted to vCard format. Address and send the e-mail to a trusted friend - like yourself. Although all the vCards are right there for the taking, there's apparently no way to access them all at once except as a received e-mail. Collect your e-mail in Outlook. When you look at the received message, you should see all the vCards as attachments. Select the message that you sent with all the vCards. Choose File > Save Attachments > All Attachments. Note: if you use an e-mail program other than Outlook to collect your mail, it might not have the Save All Attachments feature. In the Save All Attachments dialog that appears, click OK. Next, you'll see a Save All Attachments file list. Navigate to your iPod's contacts folder. (Do NOT go to the folder called “iPod” in your program files. You need to find the name of your iPod in the various drives you have in your computer.) I didn’t name the folder. I just clicked OK and everything worked perfectly. You're done - the contacts have been shipped off to your iPod. Then I performed a sync and now I have every contact listed perfectly.
I modified the directions from http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mizd2969/is_200408/ain7183943
These are the best directions on the web because they avoid the individual vCard sync process.

  • How do I configure itunes to look for my Outlook contacts and calendar?

Being fairly new with the iPhone, how do I configure itunes to look for my Outlook contacts and calendar?  At the moment, when I try to sync, I get the "No supported calendar application can be found" message.  Thanks!

You could try uninstalling iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923, then reinstalling iTunes.  This will replace a potentially corrupt Outlook plugin.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  Note: uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.

  • ITunes 6.0.1.3 not syncing Outlook Contacts or Calendar with ipod Nano 4GB

I have Outlook 2003 installed and setup with a Microsoft Exchange Server. I have about 200 contacts currently stored in it.
I recently purchased a ipod nano 4gb with hopes of syncing my contacts and calendar with that and being able to throw away my old Palm. The ipod nano works great for syncing music but I can't get it to sync either the calendar or contacts from outlook.
I check the box for syncing contacts and choose Microsoft Outlook from the drop down. Then iTunes only gives me the option of syncing all contacts (which is fine with me) and I click Okay. Then I choose update from the ipod nano right click menu. The status bar says updating contacts but does not import any of my contact to my ipod. Also, except for the 1st time, the Permission Window asking for access to Outlook has not popped up again. When it did that first time, I was told that there was an error and itunes could not copy contacts over. Since then there have been no errors from iTunes.
I have tried all the steps in the apple online help docs (unchecking boxes, restarting, re-checking, etc..) but can't find a solution. I don't want to have to manually Save As each calendar item and contact. Frankly, I'd rather just return the device.
    Can anyone help me?
    thanks in advance.

Possible. It is just odd that the day before the update to 9.x.x (I forgot the release), it worked great. Following that upgrade, the sync died. I could reinstall the old release (per instructions from Apple Tech Support) and it would sync. However, not upgrading your iTunes means not upgrading your OS...and that is not an option. However, I think I will have XP reistalled on my machine...and then put a fresh install on iTunes...and see what happens.

  • How do I sync outlook contacts and calendar without deleting apps?

I have a second iPad.  I wish to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar with my second iPad, however, upon doing so, I am prompted that I will be deleting the apps on the second iPad, which I suffered through yesterday (twice).  Ideas on how to get around this?  I am wondering how iTunes is not differentiating between the two iPads.
Any assistance is welcomed.  Thank you.

    Hi Bormond65,
Can you tell us a little bit more about your configuration? Are you using Exchange? Are you currently run Outlook for Mac (Office 2011) on your MacBook Pro? Or are you looking to migrate data from a PC to Outlook for Mac on your MacBook Pro?

  • ITunes Upgrade failure to sync Outlook Contacts

    Help!
After installing the new Itunes upgrade yesterday (1/16/08) 3/4 of my contacts were deleted from my iphone, but fortunately, remain in Outlook - I run windows XP and use the iphone primarily for business.
Currently - having followed all the "Troubleshooting iPhone contact and calendar syncing on Windows" suggestions posted on this website - I am still left with only 534 contacts compared with my actual 2500 in Outlook. Up until yetsreday, I had never had any sync problems and the iPhone / Windows Outlook interface had worked perfectly.
    I need a solution now......help (please!)

    Hi!
Well, I had exactly the same problem with the syncronization as KidJLD1964, Bigdaddy or Steve Kelem.
I work in an office and I have tried to do the sync. from my computer and from my boss computer and in both of them(we both have the Outlook 2003 installed from the company), the maximum that I could syncronize are exactly 638 contacts (out of over 2000).
I have done it in my computer at home... and it works perfectly! (the problem is that I must work with the computer from my office!)
Therefore, the problem seems to be in between the Outlook from my office and the iTunes. I'm going to try to see if I can change things in the antivirus or the firewall... maybe that's the key.
I agree with Grant.kinsel... there seems to be a bug in the sync application that affects only some Outlooks and not some others... I would recommend everybody to try the sync from other computer since that way, at least, it's clear where the problem is, although it remains unclear where is the solution.
I'll keep you all posted if I find out anything.
    Good luck to you all!!!

  • Syncing Outlook contacts and calendar items to iCloud

I just upgrade my iPad 1 to iOS 5. Lots of fun stuff (although the upgrade process made me lose my application folder setup but this is not the subject of this message).
I currently have an Outlook mail connection with my iPad. It syncs all mails, contacts and calendar entries with my office server and my PC. Works great.
I had hoped that with iOS 5, I could have synchronised these same entries to iCloud.
But instead, I think that that you must store contacts / calander you wish to sync into the iCloud "account". If this is so, then I do not think that this would be a workable use case for me.
Any thoughts on how this could be accomplished?
    Regards
    Max

    Kris,
I don't have an iPhone yet, but here is my best guess.
It's safe to assume you went into the iTunes options when your iPhone was plugged in to sync and you checked the options for Contacts and Calendars as you had the original sync occur. Have you gone back and confirmed both of those sync options are still checked? I know iTunes updates have goofed thing up before so I figured I'd ask...

  • Sync Outlook contacts and calendar with iTunes between iPhone 4 and Outlook 2010 (32bits) USB only manually, not automatically.

    Hello guys,
After disabeling and enabeling the option automatic sync iPods, iPhones and iPad in iTunes (settings > devices), my iPhone 4 is only syncing manually and not automatically as before the option change.
With manually sync I mean connecting the usb cable and pushing the synchronisation button in iTunes. I reinstalled Outlook (Office 2010 32bit) and iTunes but it did not solve the problem and it's still only manually syncing. I also renewed the Windows Profile. Is there an option I missed in iTunes or Outlook? In Outlook is the iTunes Outlook Addin present and enabled....
How can I solve this problem?
    Thanks, William

Hi, could you specify what you did. It appears that nothing on my iPhone syncs any more. I have an iMac and iPhone 4 running the latest system updates. Thanks!

  • Iphone does not sync OUTLOOK CONTACT NOR CALENDAR EVENTS (XP)

I was able to sync photos- music but no contacts-Calendar events from OUTLOOK 2003. The fact that my outlook PST file is not located in the default Outlook directory could be the problem but I am not sure. Anyone out there having the same issue??? Please let me know. thank you. Phil

Have no problems here with Vista and Outlook 2003. PST is not saved in default location, syncs without a hitch.
Seems problems are hit or miss. I have had a flawless experience while my brother who bought one at the same time is having a nightmare of a time with his install. From iTunes 7.3 crashing to activation nightmares.

  • I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts.

I just got a new iPad 2 and I have lot of questions. I was able to wirelessly link my iPad and iTunes on my PC. I was able to SYNC my email and calendar (new entries only no history), however I have not been able to SYNC Outlook contacts. Outlook has multiple contact lists. Only one has any data. I can't find a way to delete the others and I can't keep the one I want to use at the top of the list. Any ideas?
I have a question about email. I have several thousand emails in 10 or so days. How can I select multiple emails for deletion in stead of one at a time? How do I designate emails from a given sender as junk or block certain senders?
    Ron

the spcs page on this site state which video formats the ipad supports
I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

  • How can I use 2 iPhone 4's on same iTunes account, but NOT sync same contacts?

How can I use 2 iPhone 4's on same iTunes account, but NOT sync same contacts?

They need to be registered under different Apple ID's.  The initial Apple ID is set when you first start the phone up.  If you've already registered the phone to the iTunes account, back it up to your computer, and then have iTunes do a factory reset.  Go to www.icloud.com, log in with your current Apple ID, select "Find My iPhone," choose the iPhone you want to dissociate from your primary Apple ID from the upper left, and then click the little circled X ("remove").
When you start the phone, it will have you go through the setup process again, at which time you need to create a unique Apple ID for the device.  You can then restore it from your iTunes backup to get back your apps and other settings.
Whenever you use the iTunes store, use the login information (Apple ID and password) that you were using before.  Basically, the second Apple ID that you created is purely used for accessing iCloud services, which includes synchronization of contacts, iCal events, and other such things.

  • TS1347 I had to get a new hard drive on my laptop PC.  Now I am unable to sync my contacts and calendar from my iphone to the outlook software on my PC.  Although they are backed up on icloud, I really want the information on my computer.

I cannot figure out how to sync my contacts and calendar from my iphone with my windows PC.  The message during the itunes sync process is that information is being backed up to both the cloud and my PC.  However the Outlook software remains blank.  What can I do??

  • HT1296 When synching Outlook Contacts and calendars with iTunes for Windows, I do not get the option to "Synch Contacts with". It says, and cannot be changed, that it is synching with iCloud.  How do I get iTunes to give me an option other than iCloud?

  • What is the best practice to move from Outlook 2010 to icloud. I want to sync primarily contacts and calendars.

I would like to move from Outlook 2010 (originally on Exchange) to icloud, however I read lots of bad experiences about this.  Has anyone developed a good practice procedure for this?  I primarily want to sync Outlook 2010 calendar and contacts with a cloud service and my iphone.  I currently use a Dell latitude PC, outlook 2010, have upgraded to iOS 5 on an iphone 3GS (soon to be an 4GS).

I was trying to find the answer to this myself.
    I found it.
Use iCloud Control Panel for Windows: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455
I found that you don't need to create separate iCloud contact and calendar folders before installing this, it does that for you (in fact, you can't choose what these new folders are called, or where they go, but I guess you're unlikely to have anything else in your Outlook named "iCloud" before you start.)
