Hi,
There's a few of us who have this problem and we're trying new ideas to try and solve it. Out of interest do you have any Antivirus or Antispyware applications running? as that is the current line of thought at the moment.

Hope that we can get this sorted

    2. In the iTunes app you may wish to go to Preferences/Devices and check this box;

    Hello there! Please Help me!
My iTunes app on mac can't close anyhow. after force quit, iTunes reopens automatically again.
so after reclosing iTunes again, it reopens again. ..so never close.
i googled about this problem, found a few solutions and tried them. but never solved... (*_*)

IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO PREVENT TO REOPEN ITUNES AUTOMATICALLY,
    PLEASE TEACH ME!!
**I have same problem as ↓
"Once opened, I cannot close iTunes without forcing a shutdown. "Quit iTunes", "Force Quit", etc. program immediately reopens and prevents a "Restart"."

I ran into the same issue yesterday and have tried to change the language from English to German. I have restarted iTunes as requested. The weird thing now is: The settings show German, but iTunes still is in English. I have then set the language to French and restarted iTunes and... It was French.... Then I put the settings back to German with the result that iTunes is Englich again. I have no solution and I am curious if this is a programming issue as it seems I am not the only one here from Germany.... Any ideas???

  • ITunes will close but will not quit

Okay. I've tried reading some of the questions and answers regarding similar issues but none seem to speak to mine.
iTunes will "close" when I choose "Quit" or cmd-q, but will not "quit". This seems to only happen when I have recently visited the iTunes store. It does not happen when I am browsing my own library.
Important things to note and summary:
•I do NOT have iWow. Don't even know what it is or where to get it.
•This only happens when accessing iTunes Store. Not sure exactly what causes it to happen but it only happens when accessing the store.
•Doesn't seem to happen (or can't remember it ever happening) when I sync my iPhone AFTER visiting the store. Weird.
•I CAN force quit the application and reopen with no problem. However, this is an issue when shutting down the computer (not plugged in) only to find out right before the battery dies that it NEVER shut down because iTunes never "quit".
    Any suggestions?

UPDATE!! Seems to happen EVERYTIME I click on an album or app to read about it. For instance, clicking in an iPhone app to read the description in determining whether or not to buy/download. Clicking on an album/movie to do the same. Either of these workflows (as JUST tested) seem to cause iTunes to not respond.
    Again, any suggestions?

    Hey DrRuss,
Usually issues installing iTunes on Windows can be resolved after going through these troubleshooting steps. If one step does not resolve your issue, proceed to the next:

  • My iTunes wont close and is preventing my laptop from shutting down

I plugged out my iPod touch when iTunes was asking me whether I wanted an update or not, and now iTunes wont close and has frozen, preventing my laptop from shutting down. I have intel Celeron inside and Windows 7.

Mail is open but it is frozen, being this the reason why you cannot open the Mail window. Press Alt, Command and Esc keys or go to  > Force Quit, select Mail and force quit it. Finally, you will be able to turn off or restart the MacBook

  • ITunes spontaneously closes - no error message

I've just started having recent - but consistent - problems on my WinXP system. iTunes runs, and can see my iPod Touch. I want to add video files to it. So I select File > Add Folder to Library. I navigate to the folder containing my videos. I click OK, and iTunes closes. No error message; it just closes.
I try a similar procedure with File > Add File to Library, and the same thing happens. As soon as I specify the file, iTunes closes, with no error message.
Here's a list of what I've tried so far:
    1) Rebooted system
    2) Reviewed the Event Manager logs (eventvwr.msc) - no crash was listed
    3) Repaired iTunes installation
    4) Uninstalled QuickTime and iTunes, reinstalled
    5) Deleted:
    C:\Documents and Settings\(name)\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Documents and Settings\(name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
    ... and ran iTunes.
No luck so far, and as far as I know, there is no other way for me to get files from my computer to my iPod. Can anyone suggest other solutions?
    Many, many thanks.

Ok... I called Apple Support. and they were more helpful than I expected. There are several things I don't like about Apple, but let it go on the record that their customer support was excellent.
The gentleman to whom I spoke (Case# 132295246) suggested that I try accessing my OS using an alternate user. My single-user system didn't have any other users, so I quickly created one (Control Panel > User Accounts). Once I was logged in as the new user, not only did the QuickTime player load, but iTunes worked perfectly.
On the tech's suggestion, I agreed to compare the service lists between the two accounts (I didn't make him stay on the phone for this). Unfortunately, they were identical. So I turned my attention to the system tray (in the bottom right-hand corner), and noticed the ATI Tray Tools icon. I exited the app, and suddenly everything worked.
Ok, we have an easy workaround, but we can do better. Any technically-oriented PC user with an ATI card isn't going to want to give up ATI Tray Tools - it's a wonderful piece of software. Fortunately, the program allows one to define exclusions that can be applied to ANY file that conflicts.
So for Apple's benefit, I hope this gets added to the knowledge base:
    Problem:
iTunes spontaneously closes during use, no error message.
    Diagnosis measure:
The problem is resolved when logging into WinXP as a newly-created user.
The user has an ATI Video Card
The user is running ATI Tray Tools
    Resolution 1:
Close the ATI Tray Tools application before running iTunes.
    ======================
    Resolution 2:
Add iTunes to the ATI Tray Tools exclusion list:
    1) While ATI Tray Tools is running, right-click the ATI Tray Tools icon in the system tray.
    2) Select Hardware
    3) Select Auto-Overclocking
    4) Click the Exclude tab
    5) Add the following programs to the list:
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.exe
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe
    C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
    6) Click OK
    =====================
Additional note: If you have any other programs that will not run (no error messages), locate the executable, and add it to the exclusion list. I was able to solve my Java problems by adding the necessary executables from the C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin folder.

  • ITunes spontaneously closes - no error message (related to podcast)

When using podcast>>settings>>check for new episodes>>"anything but manually"
Then, when podcasts start to update, iTunes spontaneously closes and there are no error messages.
I have temporarily set check for new episodes to "manually." So far this is working.
But I was curious whether this problem has been identified or solved?

  • When i try to go to the itunes store, itunes will close down.  I have Windows 7 64 bit and I use chrome to access the internet.

I recently upgraded to windows 7 but had this problem in Windows XP as well.  If I try to go to iTunes from Chrome it seems to break my connection with iTunes and I can't get to the store anymore.  When I try to launch the iTunes store, my iTunes application closes down.  No error, it just shuts down.

I think that being signed into your apple.com account but with Safari first and foremost would be better as that would allow an Apple cookie to be set down onto an integral proprietary application (yes the Safari browser - go figure). Then (that is secondarily) you should sign into iTunes and have (more reliable) fun.
Google's motto was "Do No Evil" was it not? So do you honestly believe that their primary business interests and application performance jives with that of Apple? Sometimes yes, other times...no. Sorry, just sayin.

  • Can't get iTunes to close when using my iPod

I have the original Touch, works just fine so why replace it.  However, lately when I download from iTunes, sync the new songs and then click the button to disconnect, I can't get itunes to close.  It keeps opening and finally in dispair, I resort to going to the Windows Task manager and close it that way which sometimes doesn't work until I've done it several times.  At the same time I get the new Apple rules and regs, I always click accept and it still opens and opens and opens.  Does anyone else have this difficulty?  Not thrilled with Apple taking over my computer.

I have not heard of that problem before. You can try:
    - ANother cable and USB port
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

I cannot sync and in fact, any time I attach my iPad to my PC it says not charging - and iTunes never pops up.  Is it possible that I have to install iTunes on m PC to make this work?

  • ITunes never finished download

iTunes never finished download the music and audiobooks that I purchased, the downloading process didn't have any problem in the begining, but after a while, the file that was downloading didn't appear in the purchased list, and I couldn't find it anywhere in iTunes, if I restarted iTunes or choosed Advanced>check for purchases.. then it appeared again, and being downloaded again from the begining...
The problem repeated so that my purchases are always being downloaded and never finished... they also never resume from the point that have problem, they always are downloaded from the begining.

  • ITunes never remembers what to sync on all my devices

I sync my iPad 3, iPhone 4S, and  iPod nano (6) all manually.  Every time I plug one of them in to sync them, iTunes never remembers that to sync.  If it's podcasts, I have to reselect which ones.  If it's music or photos, I have to reselct the ones I want, confirm I want to delete the old and replace it with the "new", even if it's the same music or photos.  Isn't there some sort of preference file that remembers what gets synced on a specific device?  I have the latest OS on all devices and my iMac.

In preferences, Devices have you got Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically ticked
