ITunes new purchases causing CRASH! consistently

Hello,
This is a consistent problem/bug. Everytime I purchase new content (movies and/or tv shows) from the iTunes Music Store, while iTunes is trying to download the new content, it causes my computer to freeze up and I have to manually power off. This has been going on for a few weeks. It will work (download) for about 30 minutes, but eventually and consistently it will freeze my computer and cause a manual reboot. This is only when I'm downloading new content from the Music Store. I have all other applications closed. This is strictly an iTunes problem. I'm using Snow Leopard with all current updates (10.6.2) on a 24" iMac, intel Core 2 Duo, 2.8GHz processor, 4GB ram.
Please help

Fortunately for me, the folks at ITunes restored the lost episodes to me - but I would still like to know if anyone has any words of wisdom about what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future.

Just purchased a new song on my Ipod. Idoes not show up on my Ipod but does show up in Itunes as new purchase on my PC.

You can download previously purchased songs to your phone as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519.

  • Itunes Store - purchased link crash

I Installed the latest itunes.  When I am in the itunes store pane the quick links menu has a new button called "purchased".  When i select the "purchased" button, itunes crashes.  Solutions????

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store. If you still have it on your phone then connect it to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases to copy it over

  • ITunes' New "Purchased" Feature

When you open the iTunes Store, under "Quick Links", there is a new one labeled "Purchases", which I assume you can use to re-download previous purchases without having to pay again. But when I click on it, there is no bar to scroll to the right so all I am able to do is preview the songs and I have some that I need to re-download because the CD I put them on is corrupted. Is everybody running into this problem or is it just me? I have the latest version.

Correct, you will not be charged again.
If you wish, you can download a few today to see how it works and wait 24 hours or so to verify to your satisfaction that there is no charge.

  • Connecting iPod Nano to iTunes 7.02 causes crash on Windoes XP Pro

When ever I connect my iPod Nano (4th gen, 2GB) via my USB 1.1 connection to iTunes 7.02 it tries to update my contacts from Microsoft Outlook 2003 and then crashes. I can supply screen shots of the errors generated but I can't figure out how to attach the .jpg files to this message.

I am new user to this site so apologize if I am a bit "lo-tech".
MY PC is a 4 year old Dell 4550 desktop with 256 MB of RAM. I run Norton Internet Security 2005 and Webroot SpySweeper and XP Pro firewall turned off.
I have an older IPod 20 GB and currently use a version of Itunes 4. I have never upgraded to any other version of ITunes even though I began reeceiving prompts asking me if I wanted to upgrade about 8 months ago when plugging in my IPod or launching Itunes.
I have also just in the last 2 days upgraded to MSoft IE 7. My Itunes is now behaving strange and will lock up after sometimes only importing 1 CD. I have to use CTRLALTDEL to shut it down and reboot to get the system to start functioning again. I have considered upgrading to Itunes 7.0 but after reading all the horror stories I am very leery of this.
I have never reset or restored my IPod, nor have I ever uninstalled/reinstalled the original version that came with Ipod.
I would welcome any advice from the many experts I have noticed are using these forums......:( help pls!!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • New RAM causes crash problems

    Hello Everybody,
have some problems with new RAM for my G5. With the original 4 x 256 RAM everything's going fine, but as soon as I correctly stick in the new 2 x 1 GB (Mac Dealer bought), my mac's going crazy (crashes or not being able to install and so on...) Changed the new RAM allready at my Mac Dealer, things remain the same. Does anybody have an idea?

Have you made sure the RAM is properly seated?
If it is, contact the Mac dealer and inform them they have a bad batch of RAM.

  • HT1349 my hp computer crashed , got a new hp and i want my itunes i purchased off it on my new computer   what do i do

i had a hp computer with my itunes account and it crashed.   i have a new hp with same itunes account but none of my music from my other computer is on this one,   how do i get that music on this one     i dont no alot about this stuff   thanks

You should copy the music from your old computer and put it on an external hard drive or flash drive. Then plug in that drive to your new computer and drop all the music into itunes from the drive on your new computer.
If you don't have access to your old computer, you will have to buy a recovery program that can copy the music from your iPod. I highly recommend iRip from "the little app factory". http://thelittleappfactory.com/irip/
The program is about $20 and it will save you from losing all your music. I have used it to save my massive music collective on my iPod classic when my old windows machine crashed. iRip also will let you grab 100 tracks for free off your iPod so you can see for yourself that the program actually works!
iTunes stores music in these directories:
    Windows: C:// ... /user/My Documents/My Music/iTunes
    Mac OS:  /User/Music/iTunes
    Hope this helps!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • HT1420 My old computer crashed so I bought this new one. I can't get my prevouis purchases and my new purchases will not let me add to my IPODs. I deauthorized all computers and just authourzed ths one. my new one. How do I get my music back and how do I

My old computer crashed andI bought a new one. When I went to Itunes I deauthorized all computers and then authorized my new one but I can not get my prevous purchases and I can not add my new purchases to my IPods with out it deleting all the music. How can I transfer everything that was on the old computer to this new one?

Whether you can redownload previous purchases depends upon the type of item (audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads), what country that you are in (music, films, TV shows can't be redownloaded in all countries), and whether the item is still in your country's store (content providers occasionally remove their items) - what you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage
Or you should be able to copy purchases back from your iPod via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option (if the drop-down menus aren't showing then control-B should get them to show).
If you have music from other sources on your iPod (e.g. copied from CDs) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Or do you have a copy of them anywhere else e.g. on your backup of your downloads/library that you can copy them onto your new computer from ?

  • Is there a way to get my music from my old library (crashed computer) on my new computer so I can sync that librabry with my new purchases?

You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Syncing iPod to establish a new iTunes library - former computer crashed

Hi. I had my itunes library on a computer and had not backed it up. Most of my music was on my ipod touch. The computer crashed and I cannot access anything. So I have put itunes on our HP netbook. Is there a whay to copy the music from my ipod to the new itunes library. I keep getting a message that says "an ipod canbe synced with only one itunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this ipod with the contents of this itunes library. Erase and synce or cancel" My original itunes library is gone because of hte computer crash and I don't want to lose what I have on my ipod by erasing and syncing. Is there anyway to get the music off and into the new library?
    THanks for your help.

Your iPad is married to its now deceased old computer. This is the reason for the necessity of a backup for your computer, which your iPad is not.
Your iTunes Store and App Store purchases will not be lost. Just don't "erase and sync" when you sync your iPad to your new Mac:
If you want to move the iTunes Store purchases on your device to the new computer, choose "Transfer Purchases." The new computer must be set up with your iTunes Store account and authorized to play your iTunes Store purchases in order to transfer your iTunes Store purchases.

Help! I have a new iPhone 5s. My husband just lost his 4s, so I want to give him my 4s. We want to use same Apple ID so we both have access to itunes/apps purchases. Want to separate contacts, messages, mail, etc. I cannot change iCloud address on 4s iPhone. Also, when I tried to change iMessage I got a message that if I deleted my id (which seemed to be the only way to get my husband's I'd there), I would not be able to receive iMessages on any device.
Would someone kindly tell me how to set up th 4s for my husband so that we can keep our info separate? It would be most appreciated! Thanks!!

    Hey Fagen!
You will want to see the following article for guidance on achieving the result you wish to achieve:
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
I would just follow the instructions from this article to give your unused 4s to your spouse. Since you have already started using your 5s, you will still be receiving iMessages on that phone and will have no need to receive them on a device that has been replaced. Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!

  • How can i transfer my new purchased itunes apps to my itunes library

actually having several problems, installed itunes on a new computer, have transfered/sync all of my existing ipod touch apps/music successfully. Welcome to the discussions,
as already mentioned, use File->transfer purchases to copy your apps and bought media to your computer, or right click on the device in the device list and choose "transfer purchases"
