Itunes newest version 7.x.x re; not authorized on this computer for songs

purchased. Running PC with XP. Some of the older songs purchased from itunes ask for authorization, a name and password. when given it says you are authorized but will still not play the song. you get the same name and password screen again. Also songs sound scratchy and when moving from song to song on playlists skips badly. I hope the fix is coming or I will lose about 6000 songs.

that's familiar from the pre 7.0.x days. perhaps first check in with the Music Store to see if there's some kind of snarlup with your authorisations. the email form at the bottom of this FAQ would be the best one to use:

So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it.

  • ITunes says, "not authorized on this computer" when syncing purchases

I purchased applications and an audiobook from the iTunes Store on my computer. I then tried to sync these to my iphone with iTunes on the same computer. It gave the error message that these items could not be synchronized because they were "not authorized on this computer". My iphone is the computer that is not authorized.
I had the reverse problem going from applications purchased with iTunes on my iphone to back them up on my computer. This time, my computer was the one not authorized.
Both iTunes accounts (iTunes on my iphone & iTunes on my computer) are using the same Apple ID.
How can I get iTunes to sync purchased items with my iphone?
    Thanks!
    Heather

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes and sync the iPod again.

  • Song won't play because is is not authorized on this computer, but then try to authorize it and it says it's already authorized

I have purchased a song from the same computer on itunes that my library plays from. However this certain song is grayed out and will not play.  It says the song is not authorized on this computer, but then I try to authorize it and I get a message that this computer is already authorized. Any ideas?

That suggests the track is damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Did you download the app via that same iTunes account id ? Have you tried re-downloading it directly on your iPad (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519) ?

I just got a Touch 32GB yesterday and ran into the same problem. I have two PCs in the house that I can sync my iPods on, but I normally use one that DOESN'T have an internet connection, so that the one that does is free for others to use ... a great argument and tension solution, btw.
Anyway, I hooked up the older "iTunes" PC to the net for a first-time sync with the Touch, and ran into this problem. First it kept detecting the Touch as an unidentified iPhone, then I couldn't sync my classic either. Then I found a post here about how when multiple USB ports running off same USB controller seem to screw with the Touch/iPhone syncing.
So I disconnected all but 2 of my USB 2.0 slots (the Touch & the Portable HD with my iTunes Library) and now it's working perfectly. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it might be worth a try.

If it's gone from the computer you cannot transfer it to the iPod without purchasing the game again.
Back up all important stuff is the name of the game.

  • I purchased songs that are now reported as not authorized on this computer. When I authorize this computer I'm told it is already authorized. How can I access the 21 songs I purchased

I purchased songs that are now labeled as "not authorized on this computer" and won't be sync'd to my iPod. I then go to the store icon, click on authorize this computer and am told that it is already authorized. I have another 169 or so songs I have purchased and have no problem with those. Anyone know what might be happening? I'm not really a "technocrat" so I hope there is an easy answer.

Read the various Knowledge Base Articles on deauthorization & authorization.  One of them should solve your problem.

  • Song transfer is not authorized on this computer.

I am trying to load a song onto my nano.  Other songs are able to be transferred without an issue.  It is not a new nano nor is it a new song purchase. I am receiving an error message aobut the transfer is not authorized on this computer.
I have recently changed my Apple ID  - but that shouldn't have anything to do with this.
But we have had other issue since that time.
But just to be on the safe side, I have restored the nano back to factory settings.  We are still  not able to transfer this specific song though.

I have the same problem it just new song. they dont play on my computer and or my ipod

  • ITunes is repeatedly asking me to 'Sign In To Use This Computer for Automatic Downloads'.  How do I fix this?

I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and using iTunes v. 12.0.1.26.  Whenever I open iTunes after initially asking for my password  ('Sign-in Required'), it repeatedly asks me to 'Sign In To Use This Computer for Automatic Downloads'.  No matter how many times I enter the correct password it keeps popping up until I hit cancel at least 4 times.  Additionally, now when I attempt to make a purchase in the iTunes store it does the same thing preventing me from purchasing anything.  It repeats the 'Sign In to the iTunes Store' log-in prompt and no matter how many times I enter my CORRECT password it will not accept it.  Why is iTunes doing this and how can I fix it?

I have this same problem and it drives me crazy. I've posted a topic about this, with no replies. In my case I'm pretty sure it's because in iTunes Preferences/Store/Automatic Downloads, I have Music-Apps-Books checked.
But this is what happens to me everytime I open iTunes:
Automatic Downloads password window pops up / I put in password
Immediately again, password window pops up / I put in password
Now I'm fine until I close iTunes and open again
If I don't feel like putting my password in two times and cancel, if you cancel the window 3 times, it goes away.
    What I don't understand:
Why isn't the Automatic Downloads password stored in Keychain
Why does it ask for the password two times

  • New computer has been loaded with old Itunes library but a number of earlier purchases say they are not "authorized" on this computer even though the bulk of my library works-- this is only about 5% of the total but were all purchased 9/18/2008 or before?

New computer has been loaded with old Itunes library but a number of purchases prior to 9/18/08 are not "authorized" when I try to play them.
They are all items I purchased from Itunes but they won't play any longer even though they show in my Itunes library.
Doesn't work when I enter account info and password either.
This is only about 5% of my library and many purchased items play no problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Two words, Migration Assistant. It will transfer files between two Macs using a firewire cable automagically.
    http://www.apple.com/pro/tips/migration.html
Three words, Target Disk Mode. Use a firewire cable to connect two Macs and then hold down the T key when you boot the Mac you want to transfer files from, G4 Tower. It will appear as a hard drive on the desktop of your Macbook Pro. Then you can just drag and drop the whole folder.

  • Background Music Problem - "Not Authorized on this computer"

I m stuck in a loop and hope that somebody here has an idea how to help. I just bought a new iMac and transferred my music library over from my old computer using the migration assistant. I authorized the new computer in iTunes and all the music plays without a problem. However, when I try to add music from my iTunes library as a background track over video, I get an error message saying that I am not authorized to play the music. It then directs me to iTunes to authorize the computer but that tells me that I AM authorized.
So far, I have spoken with the iTunes department who tell me it is a problem on the iMovie side and the iMovie folks who direct me back to the iTunes department. If anyone has any idea how to solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm running the latest version of both apps.
    Thanks

    Hi
My list on this - may be of help.
    *No Audio*
Most common origin is use of audio from iTunes.
    Work around -
    • Select needed audio to one new playlist
    • Copy out this as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3)
    • Use this in the movieproject
    Other origins are
    1. strange/ailient file formats as -
    • .mp3, .avi, .wmv etc
    • Convert them into .aiff 48kHz 16-bit and use this
    2. the Mac is set wrongly in regard of midi -
    • Close iMovie and other programs
    • Start GarageBand
    • Make a new GB-project and play some notes
    • Close GB and Save
    • Now try iMovie again
    3. No audio when playback in iMovie 1 to HD 6.
    a. in iMovie pref - deselect ”Playback via Camera”
    b. in System preferences - see that Audio out is not set to zero. Mine often does this
    without me knowing why.
    Stuttering audio and video
    1. FileVault is ON - Turn it off
    2. More than 50 audio files in a movie-project
Mix down to one audio clip
    3. Project is stored on one (USB) external hard disk - should be a FireWire one
    4. the External hard disk is not Mac OS Extended formatted - but
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange and this will not work for Video.
    5. To little free space on internal boot hard disk.
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space when project is imported and edited and this goes for
4x3 SD Video. For 16x9 HD my guess would be about 5 times more at least.
Neither Mac OS, iMovie or iDVD can address any other hard disk than the boot drive for it’s
scratch files. (Unlike Final Cut Express/Pro where You select scratch disk/s)
    6. Network storage - DOESN’T WORK

  • IPhone won't sync new apps-I'm not authorized on this computer???

    Hello,
Everything with the update went well, bought/downloaded applications from iTunes, hit sync & got the message that I'm not authorized for them on this computer. I have to be, don't I? I remember when activating the phone that it did that... I think. Please help, I want to use my new apps.
BTW, I've tried resetting the iPhone by holding down the power & home buttons for 6 seconds & I've restarted my G5.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Just solved it. Double clicked on one of the new applications from within iTunes, it asked for my password to authorize this computer, clicked sync & it's syncing now.
Hope this helps others that might have had the same problem.
