ITunes no longer finds my Apple TV.

I'm running ver. 10.6.3.25 of iTunes on my Win 7 computer.  I have a 1st Gen Apple TV.  My iTunes is no longer finding my Apple TV, and has not for several updates now.
My ATV is connected to the network, I can find YouTube and the store just fine.
I checked with the other questions and they all say go to Edit>Preferences>Apple TV  or >Devices and add apple tv.
I have no such option on my iTunes.  I've checked every tab and every area and there are no options for Apple TV anywhere in my iTunes except under Help.  And the Guides are all hopelessly outdated.
Please Help!

Apple products rely on an autodiscovery product that Apple calls Bonjour.  The first thing to try is - temporarily! - turning off your Windows firewall to see if that does it.  If that does fix the issue,  post  back and I can walk you through setting the Windows Firewall to let it work.  I just searched online to see if I could find a quick tutorial for you, but instead found all kinds of stuff - mostly knocking the technolgy because it's "Apple's" (it's not, Zero Config as it's also known is a standard that many manufacturers other than Apple).
Try that and let us know!

  • I can no longer find my apple TV with my iTunes, need to pair them, suggestions?

Hi, I can no longer find my Apple TV with the new version on iTunes (i'm on OS X) on my computer, I need it so I can pair the Apple TV and iTunes account, any suggestions?
    Thanks!

if it's an appletv 1g then you should go to settings on your appletv and remove the bind with the computer
and then set it up again
if it's the small black appletv then you don't pair them from itunes you only use it as airplay speaker and the atv access the itunes shared lib

  • Why ITune no longer finds my IPhone when I plug it in my laptop. This ever since I installed your last update

Why is that and can this be fix?

    DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED IN ITUNES
If you have connected your device to your computer and it does not appear in the side bar in iTunes then for Windows computers read http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 or if you have a MAC then read http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591 for troubleshooting steps.

  • ITunes no longer finding iOS devices

All of sudden iTunes is no longer finding my iOS devices.  I have an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air 2.  I have connected both to my iMac running latest OS, using the lightning cable.  It worked fine till about an hour ago.  Now both devices keep prompting me to trust my mac.  I click trust and nothing happens.  Disconnect and reconnect and same thing appears on my iOS devices.
I have reset both devices, reloaded iTunes and reset my Mac, nothing seems to work.  Odd thing is that I can still connect all devices to my Apple TV, which is normally temperamental and drops the connection to iTunes half way through a show.
    Anyone else having this issue?
iTunes and iOS are definitely full of bugs between this and the missing TV Show Art Work, it is becoming very tiresome waiting on Apple releasing updates

In my experience, yeah, everything was fine. Until the next day, when you have to shut down and restart again. And then the next day.... ridiculous.

  • ITunes no longer finds music on another PC upgraded to Windows 8

We store all of our music on a central home theater PC, and the itunes library running on a Vista laptop refers to all of these files.
Windows on the laptop has no issues still accessing the music files on the PC after upgrading to Windows 8 but now iTunes can't locate any of the files.
iTunes says it can't locate them, but if you look at the location in the info pane is says something like file://localhost//HTPC/Family/Music etc. which seems perfectly reasonable to me.

That wasn't it. The problem was that the network share on Vista was lost when I upgraded to Windows 8. I finally figured this out after much frustration only to find that letting another PC share all a user's files makes ALL the Windows 8 Metro apps crash!
The way I fixed it was to use "net share Family=c:\users\family"
There didn't seem to be any way to do this through the Windows 8 GUI
Then I had to allow sharing for "everyone" on all the Family files
Now iTunes finds all the files where it used to

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you set up homesharing on both the Apple TV and in iTunes, are you running any security software on your mac/PC, have you ensured any firewall is allowing access for iTunes.

  • I have music on my iPad, but I can no longer find it in itunes on my mac.  How do I get those CDs back in my library?

I have music on my iPad, but I can no longer find it in itunes on my mac.  How do I get those "CDs" back in my library?  I cannot listen to them on my Mac or put them on another device!

Thanks a lot!  After I sent the above post, I tried that.  It worked a little.  Some of the ones that I Purchased would not come up.  I followed instructions from Apple about going to Purchased and downloading them again, but ran into another problem.  They are greyed on my Mac and they will not download again.  It says to click on the iCloud beside them, but there is not one visible.  iCloud is set up, at least I thought it was.  I am sure there is a simple explanation, but I am missing it!

  • I can no longer find iTunes on my PC

I can no longer find iTunes on my PC and can't find where to download a new copy.  I used to be able to sync with my computer, but since the introduction of icloud I no longer get the itunes app for syncing when I plug my phone into my PC.  I only have 25 songs accessible through my iphone, but have hundreds on my computer.  I would like to know how to be able to access that music from my iphone or ipad

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:

  • I purchased Puss In Boots from the iTunes store and can no longer find it in iCloud

I purchased this movie several months ago and up until today have been able to watch it in iCloud.  I no longer find the movie in iCloud or anywhere in the iTunes store.  How do I get the movie I paid for?

    The link I provided says:
"Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer on the iTunes Store."
When I wrote "that can't be right" I wasn't referring to the link you provided, I was referring to the line from your post that I quoted aka...
Do not rely upon Apple keeping anything...The re-downloading feature is an unreliable bonus, not a storage service.
While this thread (mostly because of me) now somewhat conflates purchases made on a computer via the iTunes Store and purchases made from the iTunes Store via an AppleTV, I am referring to AppleTV purchases, and I stand by my assertion.
My point was - and I'll state it again more clearly - is that the entire purpose of the AppleTV product is that you do NOT store your purchases separately, that they are available for STREAMING at your whim.  Apple does not need to explicitly state this.  It is inherent in the product they sell.  AppleTV is a media streaming product.  And, in fact, their own press supports my assertion:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/inside-itunes/2012/03/movies-now-available-on-icloud .html
"Movies have joined music, TV shows, books, and apps in iCloud, which means that iTunes movies are as easily re-watchable as your DVD...iTunes stores your movies in iCloud, and they can be downloaded again to your various devices at any time...Movies are stored in iCloud, no hard drive required."
Apple specficially states the movies can be "downloaded again at any time" -- and "no hard drive required".  This online storage is not a "separate bonus" -- it is part of the deal.  It is a separate matter (and irrelevant to my point) whether one can TRUST Apple to always be there providing that streaming service or whether it would be prudent to back-up any movies one downloads.
My point was how the product AppleTV is supposed to function.
    Have a good one.

  • After yesterday's "upgrade", iTunes can no longer find and play my music library.  It points to the correct location in "Advanced", but clearly iTunes is not actually seeing it.

After yesterday's "update", iTunes can no longer find and play my music library.  It points to the correct location in "Advanced", but clearly iTunes is not actually seeing it.  What gives?  And why does Apple force these constant updates that just screw up everything?  It was all working fine yesterday before I ran the update.

Does anyone know where I can get support for this issue?

  • In the new iOS 7.0.2 update, I can no longer find the iTunes Radio in the music application. Has it been removed, or is there still a way to access it?

    Hi jdog44,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  iTunes Radio should be accessible from the bottom of the Music app screen as shown in this article:
    About iTunes Radio
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5848
You could try completely closing the Music app:
iOS: Force an app to close

    A restart may also help:

Go to Settings/icloud. The Apple ID at the top of the screen is the only one you need to be concerned about. That one MUST be a working ID, and you must know the password for it, or you will be unable to use the phone if it ever crashes, you want to update it, or you want to sell it.
