ITunes no longer launches when IPhone connected - Windows PC

whenever i connect my iPhone to my PC, iTunes never launches.
How do i repair this? or Can it even be repaired?
i saw a Thread Fix for the MAC on here.. but not for the PC.

Hi,
If you manually open iTunes, is the iphone found and listed under Devices?
If it doesn't show up at all, it could be that the iphone driver has corrupted.
It's been a while since I have a look in an XP machine but from memory;
With the phone plugged in, goto Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Hardware
You should find two apple drivers I think under Portable Devices -
Apple iPhone: which is the driver for connecting to iTunes and
Apple Mobile Device USB Driver: this connects the camera
Does the 1st driver have an yellow exclamation indicating that it is not installed correctly? If it does, delete it and then search from new devices again and the phone should be found again and reinstalled.
If this doesn't work, it probably quickest to uninstall iTunes and re-install it following this method

My ITunes no longer launches automatically when I connect my IPhone.
IPhoto does, but not ITunes. However, once I open it, it connects with my phone and syncs it without an issue.
I just want it to auto-launch for syncing.
I've read a few posts about this, but have not seen a clear answer yet.
The following settings on my phone and laptop are correct (I think):
--ITunes>iPhone>Summary>"Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" checked
--ITunes>Preferences>Devices>"Disable automatic syncing for iPhone and iPods" is unchecked
I noted in one previous post about this that someone mentioned the necessity of having "ITunes Helper" installed in your Login Items, in your Account prefs, in order to have ITunes auto-launch when the iPhone is connected. I do NOT have this app, nor can I find it anywhere on my computer.
Is this the problem? If so, is ITunes Helper available somewhere?
Hoping for an answer; I've noticed that a lot of posts on this subject have not gotten responses, and wondering why.

Recently, when either is connected iTunes is no longer auto-launching to auto-update the iPod's.

If you want to be able with out it syncing automatically, you can disable the automatic syncing feature following the instructions in the article below.

Help, iTunes refuses to not auto launch when iPhone connected to computer

Hi, anyone else have this obnoxious problem? I unchecked "auto syncing" and all of the possible disabling options in iTunes>Preferences. Another forum I visted mentioned disabling iTunes Helper. I am having a problem launching iTunes Helper because I did a search from the main Windows Start area (lower left of computer screen), and iTunes Helper does show up with a .exe extension showing it's an application. However, when I click on it, it just disappears. It's also not listed in "My Programs" or when I run "msconfig". Is finding iTunes Helper so I can disable it what I need here to keep iTunes from auto launching when the iPhone is connected, or is my solution in doing something else? I'm using iTunes 9.0.25 Any solid help here is much appreciated!

I don't have an iPhone but I imagine it is probably similar to using an iPod. When I connect the iPod to the computer and it shows up in iTunes under devices, click on the device (iPhone), in the device screen that appears there is an options section that has a check-box "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected." Un-check it.

With the 11.1.3 (8) upgrade, iTunes fails to launch when my iPhone 5 is connected to my MacPro. iPhoto launches automatically, as expected. When I manually launch iTunes, it will recognize the phone, but I must manually sync it and back it up. When I select the iPhone, open SUMMARY and view Options (at the bottom of the page), Options, the box that says "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" is grayed-out and cannot be checked or selected. OK ... I'm going to answer my own question. I checked the box in iTunes PREFS "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically" then went back to the DEVICES screen, iPhone summary, then unplugged the iPhone, and then back to iTunes PREFS and re-checked that box, then quit iTunes. Then I plugged the iPhone back into the computer and Voila! iTunes opens and syncs! Why? Who knows?
This did NOT SOLVE the problem of wireless backup ... still not working ... whether iTunes is open or not.

i have recently purchased new pc running windows 8.1. i have installed and used itunes with no problems until today.
itunes doesn't open when iphone is connected and doesn't recognise the device after itunes update and restart.
Any suggestions how to rectify this please?

Stop Itunes from automatically opening when IPhone connected to computer

Using IPhone 3G with Windows XP Pro (both with latest updates)
When I connect IPhone 3g to the usb cable to computer, ITunes always automatically opens. This is a waste, if I am only charging the IPhone. Is there a way to make ITunes not open automatically when IPhone is connected

Leaving both "iTunes > Preferences > Syncing > Disable automatic syncing for all.." AND "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" on the summary page, UNCHECKED, solved the issue for me.

Itunes wont auto launch when i connect iphone

HI I have seen this has been posted before but i can't follow how to fix it. I am using iphone 3GS on PC with itunes version 6, everything is ok but when i connect via usb to the pc itunes no longer automatically launches and syncs my calender. please make any instructions very very simple for me to follow.

ITunes 8.1.1 no longer launches on iPhone connection

Prior to my upgrade to iTunes 8.1.1 I could connect my iPhone for sync and charging and iTunes would launch automatically. Since the upgrade I have to launch iTunes manually.
I have checked both settings which control this:
1) iPhone>Summary>"Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" - is Checked
2) iTunes>Preferences>Devices>"Disable automatic syncing for iPhone and iPods" - is UNchecked
Please inform me as to what component was de-activated or deleted durning my upgrade to iTunes 8.1.1, and where can I download that component?

ITunes automatic launch when iPhone connected

I suddenly have a new problem, and am uncertain as to what I did. When I plug my iPhone into my MacBook, in the past, iTune automatically launched and recognized my phone. Does not do that anymore.
I upgraded to Leopard. Any thoughts?

What is the name of the iTunes preference file that I can put in the trash to try to get this to work correctly?

Any way for iPhoto to NOT launch when iPhone connected?

Hey gang-
Is there any way to configure iPhoto to NOT launch every time my iPhone is connected to my iMac? I understand why it does it- because there are photos on my iPhone Camera roll- I get it. But I would love for it to NOT launch iPhoto every time. I know I can use Image Capture to tell iPhoto not to launch for ANY camera, but that's overkill. I just want iPhoto to not launch when my iPhone is connected. Is there maybe an app or a terminal command that could configure that?

Okay- how about this? Is there an app that would enable me to move my photos off my Camera Roll and organize them separately? That might solve the problem of iPhoto seeing them.
