ITunes no longer recognises iPod when plugged in!

I'm on latest versions of everything.
Plugged in my iPod to sync some CDs I just imported to iTunes.
Everything happened as normal: iPod appeared in iTunes, sync happened, got "OK to disconnect".
So I ejected and disconnected as normal.
Do this loads.
However, when I went to use the iPod, it said I had no music.
So, I re-plugged in. The iPod never appeared in iTuines. Reset iPod, re-booted computer, tried different USB ports. Same. iPod says "Connected" but nothing comes up in iTunes.
So now I have an iPod with no music and no way of syncing.
I tried putting iPod into disc mode and then resetting (a previous post said to do this). Nothing.
Any hints and tips? Or do I have to re-buy yet another iPod?

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Put latest Itunes system on twice and itunes no longer recognises my ipad or ipod. any ideas?

Put latest Itunes system on my computer (Windows XP latest upgrade before windows stopped supporting) two times now but itunes no longer recognises my ipad or ipod. Will recognise one Ipod touch but nothing else. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. The Ipad 2 is, so is the ipad 1 (can only go to OS5 as you know) The Ipod touch is but the ipod nano I cannot check as the system will not recognise it to use itunes to check the latest update. The computer is recognising the units in the Explorer area, it is just Itunes will not.

iTunes no longer recognises my iPhone 4s phone shows that it is being charged but does not show in devices list in iTunes am unable to sync. Have tried trouble shooting suggestions with no joy??? any help would be appreciated

Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the computer, not plugged into a hub.
If that doesn't do it, try running through this Apple doc -> iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • Why does iTunes no longer open automatically when iPad is connected?

Why does iTunes no longer open automatically when iPad is connected? and iPhone as well?  Setting to "auto open" is selected, but iTunes will not open automatically. Problem seems to have begun with upgrade to Lion.

Good luck getting an answer...I posted the same question a day ago.   I can only assume it's a glitch in iTunes 10.5.

  • HT1209 I've successfully imported the videos I've shot with my iphone5 into iphoto on my MacBookPro but they're only showing up as still shots, ie the imported videos don't play! Itunes no longer opens automatically when syncing!

I've successfully imported the videos I've shot with my iphone5 into iphoto on my MacBookPro but they're only showing up as still shots, ie the imported videos don't play! Itunes no longer opens automatically when syncing, and when I open itunes it shows that there are zero "home movies" in there, meaning that it never grabbed the videos from my phone either. What to do? Thanks!

    tl:dr?
    Really?
There was a short version expressly for people who weren't bothered to read a myriad of text.
Meh, not that it matters anymore. I ended up redownloading 70-odd albums, so I have the bulk of my music back. And I still have no idea what iTunes did with my files, but I'll make sure it never does it again.
I would thank you for the help but you were utterly useless. Oh well, carry on.

  • HT201413 I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again?

I have restored and updated my ipod from recovery mode, however I still have the usb cord and itunes icon on the ipod when it is switched on. How can I get my ipod to work again? I have updated and restored 5 times! When connected to itunes it only shows the summary page saying ipod in recovery mode.

    Fixed it!
    1. Made sure itunes software was up to date
    2. Pressed and held 'home' button and 'on-off' button at the same time for about 10 seconds till ipod reset (I hadn't done this step previously)
    3. Connected to itunes
    4. Pressed restore and update ipod
Update successful and ipod taken out of recovery mode

  • Why IPhone is getting hot when downloading via wifi and how to turn off itunes 11.1 launch automatically when plugged in Iphone to the PC

Why IPhone is getting hot when downloading via wifi and how to turn off itunes 11.1 launch automatically when plugged in Iphone to the PC

My brother with the iPhone 4 suffers from that too.
    My iphone 5 doesnt however.
But to Stop Launch when your apple device is connected, 1. connect your iPhoneto your computer, 2.Go to the Summary Page, 3. uncheck the box "Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected" and then your good for that device.

  • Itunes is not recognising my ipod when plugged in to my computer

I have recently updated itunes and my ipod is no longer recognised by my computer when i plug it in.

    Hi claremike,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that your iPod Classic is not connecting to iTunes on your Windows computer after you completed an update to iTunes. There could be a few different things that could cause this. I suggest starting with number 1 in the following article and using the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant that applies to your iPod. If the issue remains unresolved after you complete the troubleshooting assistant, continue in this article on number 2 and work your way down.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
    1. Start with the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant
If you haven't already done so, use the iPod Troubleshooting Assistant that applies to your iPod. This will often solve your issue.
If you're still experiencing the issue after going through each of the steps in the assistant, continue with the steps below in this article. The most likely solutions are listed below (for both USB and FireWire (IEEE 1394) iPod connections). Check each section starting from the top of the list to see if that is what's keeping your iPod from appearing.
    I hope this helps,
    -Joe
