Did an upgrade to iTunes and now my ipod nano 5g is not recognized. what do I do?

And itunes recognizes my iphone fine. please help.

Updated to ios 6.1.5, itunes no longer recognizes any ipod - now only shows the "wishlist" button...

I had this exact problem. I had to plug the iPod into a USB port on the back of the computer tower not the fron ones. Hope this helps.

While Apple may request a Pay-Per-Incident, if it is determined that your device has a hardware issue, that PPI will bewailed after troubleshooting is completed. Or, you can request that they waive that if you've already done a lot of troubleshooting. The PPI is only for issues that a user could resolve on their own but want Apple to provide a walkthrough over the phone. i've had my ipod nano 4th gen for as long as 4th gen's have been around. never had a problem with it or itunes. until now. all of a sudden, when i plug my ipod in to sync the new music purchased, itunes doesn't even recognize my ipod. "devices" never even comes up. "sync ipod" under file isn't highlighted. my ipod only shows as charging. since this problem occurred, i've tried my husband's ipod and it isn't recognized. i've used numerous cords in both USB ports. i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. nothing is working! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Itunes will not recognize my ipod nano

i plug my ipod nano into my computer and itunes pops up and tells me it has detected an ipod (which is not visible on the left side tab) and tells me there is a problem. It told me to connect my ipod again and try again. I did. It did not work. the same message appears and also tells me if the problem happens again, uninstall itunes and reinstall. I did. Still it does not work. I do not know how to fix this problem. Please help.

iTunes 7 is having this problem with my iPod 30GB Video. It worked at first, but the system hung while attempting to update my iPod to 1.2. After rebooting it never recognized my iPod. I've since checked my iPod out on my laptop and my work computer and it works fine at both of those. I've finished the update to 1.2 on my laptop, but it still doesn't work on my main computer.
I've tried uninstalling iTunes, using the Windows Install Cleanup software, deleting files from temp directories, all of the stuff that the troubleshooting docs suggest on this site. None of it has gotten that computer to recognize my iPod again. I am not about to reinstall windows so what is my next option?

So my brother got an ipod nano, the the original version with only the colored front panel or whatever, and then I got am ipod nano, the second or newer version and we run them off of the same computer. Well his is no loger in use since it went through the washing machine, anyways I tried to import a cd on my itunes, it worked but itunes wouldn't let me sync (or whatever its called) the songs onto the ipod. So I went back to some little fold up booklet that came with the ipod and it said to put songs from a cd onto your ipod that you have to click on ipod under devices. but the only thing that shows up under devices is the cd that i'm importing not the ipod even though it's connected it also said was that when you plug your ipod into itunes it will show automatically come up. it doesn't. the ipod only charges. so it could be many different things: 1. my itunes isn't compatible with the newer version ipod. 2. it could be my computer. although its only 3 years old and its a Windows XP or 3. its just the ipod. The ipod nano works completely normal, no problems. This is the first time i've ever tried putting on songs from a cd before. I also tried uninstalling itunes from my computer and then re-installing to see if the newer version ipod nano would work by itself. but that didn't work either. under file, edit, options, or something (one of the headings) I went to preferences and clicked on ipod and it said "not connected" but it was. I have no idea what's wrong. i only have 18 songs so far on it too so it's not overused or anything. I also forgot to mention that I installed itunes from the disc that came with my ipod nano, not from this website. at this point in time i don't have itunes installed on my computer because there's really no point. If anyone understands my really confusing issue, help me!! Simplified: My computer doesn't recognize that my ipod nano is plugged in and I've tried two different USB cables so that's not it.

I've been using my 2nd generation nano for over 2 years. Suddenly it's not recognized by iTunes so I can't sync it. The battery is being charged so it's not a cable problem. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Same problem here. iTunes does not recognize my iPhone EVERYTIME I connect it. But, when I open iPhoto, no problem. Also, when I go to 'System Profiler' and click on 'USB' the iPhone shows up in the list.
Any ideas on what is going wrong or how to solve? Apparently the OS knows that the iPhone is connected, and some of the applications do, but iTunes is not listing my iPhone in the Devices section. I Can connect an iPod Shuffle without issue, so this appears to be limited to my iPhone.
Any thoughts?
