ITunes no longer sees my ipod at all...constantly slowly flashes orange

Quite odd this...ipod shows up under 'about this mac' as being plugged into a usb plug, but iTunes 8.02 just won't see it. Also the ipod constantly flashes a slow orange.
The ipod actually plays the songs that are on it...I just cant get itunes to edit them.
Strangely if I boot up in windows under bootcamp itunes asks if I want to sync my ipod to the itunes
I have there. which would be fine but all my music is in the mac section as this is what I use most of the time.
I have deleted iTunes and re-installed....5 Rs are no help as I cant get itunes to see it for a reset
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Hi bessam
I have tried installing VMWare on a 60 day free trial....but I just seem to be getting access to .exe files. They don't seem to have a Mac client. How are you managing to use this on your mac?
I had pretty much given up on getting my OSX partition to see my ipod, but I saw your reply and thought I'd give it a try.
I have also downloaded the ipod reset utility...but as per normal, it can't see anything plugged in. It seems aware that something is there, but always displays the message: Waiting for the ipod to become ready. If i unplug it it tells me to plug in my ipod. oh well.

  • HT1363 Got iTunes 11.0.2 and iPod classic. ITunes no longer connects to iPod - wiped all contents and there is no way to re-connect - is this normal?

Got iTunes 11.0.2 - as far as I know the latest version. My iPod classic no longer connects - gone through all on the "help" still won't work. There is nowhere with the word "device" and the iPod has now been wiped clean. Is this normal with the new version?

You might want to try connecting to another computer with an older version of iTunes. If it connects, reformat it straight away just in case before adding your songs back in. Otherwise, you might want to seek for help at the official iTunes stores in your country. Chances are that the iPod might be corrupted, though iTunes being the problem can't be ruled out either.

  • As of iOS 8.1.1, iTunes no longer sees my iPhone at all.

I download new music on my computer regularly, and thus, sync my iTunes library to my iPhone regularly. As soon as I updated my iPhone from iOS 8.1 to 8.1.1, iTunes on my computer was no longer able to see my iPhone at all. The first time I tried to sync after updating, I noticed that my iPhone did not appear in iTunes as it always had. I thought I had turned off wifi on the phone, but that was not the case. I have not been able to get iTunes to find my phone via wifi since then. Next, I tried to plug my phone into my computer with an Apple lightning cable. This charged my phone, but my phone still never appeared in iTunes. I get a message on my phone asking me if I 'trust' the computer that the phone is connected to (despite the fact that these two devices have been syncing regularly for about 2 years now). I press 'yes,' and that does nothing. The next time I plug it in, it asks me the same thing again. I have made sure both OSs and iTunes are up to date, and have restarted both devices. Everything else seems to be working fine. It's as if the iOS 8.1.1 update is somehow prohibiting iTunes from recognizing / communicating with my iPhone.
iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.1, never jailbroken
    MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), OS X 10.10, running iTunes 12.0.1.26

I'm having the same problem, but on a Windows 8 computer. I've literally done everything to try to rectify this problem, including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on several different occasions, wiping my phone clean, and changing around the drivers several times. I have a feeling it's not iTunes' fault since I can connect my mother's iPhone 6 to the computer just fine. Everything was fine until the 8.1.1 update dropped and now everything's gone wrong.

  • Itunes No Longer Sees my Ipod on Windows 8

I was able to sync my Ipod to ITunes a couple of times since upgrading to ITunes 12.  It happened automatically by plugging my Ipod into my PC as usual.  But today ITunes does not identify that my device is plugged in. My Windows 8 PC does recognize the device is plugged in.  How can I get ITunes to work to try to recognize my device?

    Hello robertfromlees summit,
Thanks for the question. Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your iPod nano is recognized in Windows (or “Computer”) but not in iTunes. The following resource outlines this exact symptom, and steps that may help to resolve the issue:

  • I recently upgraded to iPhone4s. I am running OS 10.7.4. iTune no longer 'sees' my iPod Classic but thinks it is my iPhone. The iPod has not been synced or updated for a while. Any ideas?

I can't update/sync my iPod Classic because iTune thinks it is my iPhone4s. How do I overcome this please? Surely I ought to be able to use my tunes on both?

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Itunes no longer sees my iphone 4s as a device? What can i do?

    Just to clarify:
Does Aperture not see the drive at all (that is, does Aperture also not see the drive in the import and export dialogue) or are only the Master Files disconnected?
If Aperture does not recognize the drive at all, check the permission settings of the drive in the "Get Info" panel and make sure you have read/write access, also the "Ignore ownership on this volumn" checkmark, this should be set.
If correcting the permissions does not help, make sure you have a backup, and then use "Disk Utility" to run a check and to repair the volumn, if necessary.
If Aperture can see the drive on import and export, but only does not see the master image files, then try to reconnect your masters.
Create a smart album or use a Search with the rule: "File status: offline", to select all images that need reconnecting to their masters.
Right click on the first image of the selection.
From the Pop-up window select "Locate referenced Files..."
Now the "Reconnect All" button should appear.
    Click it.

After our computer crashed, itunes no longer recoginizes our ipods. How can I fix this problem?

Okay, update on my previous message:
I have replaced my iTunes-folder with a back-up version of the old one. Luckily this turned my podcasts back to normal and replaced the new 'library' with the old one.
This also solved the problem of having to erase your iPod or iPhone, which is no longer necessary.
    So my solution is:
    1. back-up your iTunes folder (located at 'User/Music/iTunes/')
    2. remove iTunes 9.0.3 completely (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224)
    3. drag the iTunes folder back to the Music folder
    4. Re-install iTunes 9.0.3.
    It worked for me.

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

  • Itunes no longer sees ripped music or playlists

    Hi,
I just upgraded to iTunes 12. Most of my music is imported from CD's & it's all stored on an external hard drive. I now have an issue where iTunes only sees about 50 songs (instead of over 17,000). It no longer sees any of my playlists either. However, if I look on my iPod (Classic 160 GB) all of the music is there.
I therefore need to get my music and playlists from my iPod back into iTunes. I cannot find the original library file, or even a half decent old one. I know itunes will only move songs bought from the itunes store. I am tempted to pay for external software to do this but am a bit wary. I now also seem to have numerous

  • Songs in itunes no longer showing on ipod

I had a number of playlists in my itunes. synching w/ipod was never a problem.
then today I got message that due to limited space on my pc's HARD DRIVE, that itunes could not do a complete sync, and that they would create a new playlist (called [my name's] playlist) and put those selected songs only (from my overall library) on my ipod.
so then my ipod showed one playlist only ([my name's] playlist}.
I then freed up space on my pc's hard drive.
once again tried to sync up my ipod w/my itunes. i also deleted that additional playlist that itunes had created. all my other playlists were still there with all my songs.
so i expected my ipod would then sync as usual, esp. since i just freed up space on my hard drive.
but no, then my ipod just showed an empty On the Go playlist. I can't get all my songs in itunes to show in my ipod anymore. also, when I DO now open up itunes, I initially get a message that says "songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist" but that doens't surprise me...because the one temporary list that itunes created, I have since deleted. But all my OTHER lists are still there. So why isn't it syncing THOSE to my ipod?
Should I try the 5 R's to fix this?
    Tx!

Thanks. OK, I read that other post, but it's only causing me to have more questions. So I can't get that itunes-created list back... the one that I deleted. That's Ok, because all my other personal playlists are still there. Also, the problem was not that my ipod capacity was smaller than the amount of songs in itunes. The problem was that my pc hard drive was too full. I have since freed up space on my hard drive.
So what's not clear to me is what I have to do now to get my ipod to sync like it used to. I freed up space on my hard drive, so it should be able to sync again, as it used to, no?
    Thanks!
