Itunes no longer sees ripped music or playlists
Hi,
I just upgraded to iTunes 12. Most of my music is imported from CD's & it's all stored on an external hard drive. I now have an issue where iTunes only sees about 50 songs (instead of over 17,000). It no longer sees any of my playlists either. However, if I look on my iPod (Classic 160 GB) all of the music is there.
I therefore need to get my music and playlists from my iPod back into iTunes. I cannot find the original library file, or even a half decent old one. I know itunes will only move songs bought from the itunes store. I am tempted to pay for external software to do this but am a bit wary. I now also seem to have numerous

The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

my new iphone 5 is frozen, with the cord to computer symbol on the screen after failing to finish updating to ios 7. iTunes no longer sees the phone. I've tried rebooting the computer, rebooting the iPhone, but iTunes still doesn't see the iPhone.
If your computer doesn't see the phone when you plug it in, you may have to take it to an Apple Store.

Just to clarify:
Does Aperture not see the drive at all (that is, does Aperture also not see the drive in the import and export dialogue) or are only the Master Files disconnected?
If Aperture does not recognize the drive at all, check the permission settings of the drive in the "Get Info" panel and make sure you have read/write access, also the "Ignore ownership on this volumn" checkmark, this should be set.
If correcting the permissions does not help, make sure you have a backup, and then use "Disk Utility" to run a check and to repair the volumn, if necessary.
If Aperture can see the drive on import and export, but only does not see the master image files, then try to reconnect your masters.
Create a smart album or use a Search with the rule: "File status: offline", to select all images that need reconnecting to their masters.
Right click on the first image of the selection.
From the Pop-up window select "Locate referenced Files..."
Now the "Reconnect All" button should appear.

Upgraded iTunes no longer "sees" my airport express and will not network
Since upgrading to iTunes 8.2, iTunes no longer recognizes or sees my airport express (there is no longer an option box on the lower right area of the iTunes info so I can select computer speaker or additional speakers. The iTunes help says it should recognize the network when it starts, but it doesn't. My Airport is working properly. Sure would like to get those living room speakers back in the game!
I updated Airport Utility to 5.4.2 and even though it ended up telling me I hadn't changed my settings on the AE I use to play iTunes on my stereo, after the update of my Base and Express, the Multiple Speakers box appeared again on iTunes the next time I opened the iTunes window. Also, AU managed to, for the very first time, give me a solid green light on the AE, after a year + of blinking orange. So my advice is to update your Airport Utility and run it.

ITunes no longer sees my iPad device
Every now and again iTunes ceases to recognose my iPad. I use an iMac, iPad, old MacBook and have Apple TV and Time Capsule.
I set a reminder in Calendar to sync/backup my iPad every week with my iMac but every so often, it just doesn't work. I haven't changed the settings but there's no Device listed in the sidebar and it's greyed out as an option in the dropdown menu. There's no summary button either.
I'm very nervous about rebooting stuff because I don't want to lose what I've got.I have the same issue, I set my iPad2 to sync over wifi - but the PC now no longer sees it, and the only answer I've seen on the boards is to plug the iPad in via a USB cable and uncheck the box for wireless syncing... but... it's not recognizing the iPad via USB either, simply as a camera device.
... you can see the problem here, I'm sure :-)
If it isn't recognized, I don't ever see the iPad in my iTunes in order to turn off wifi sync - and on the iPad itself there is no visible way to switch it back either

ITunes no longer recognizes my music library
So I have the bulk of my music library stored on an external HD and for me to listen to music all I have to do is connect my HD. I have never had a problem with it before, but now iTunes doesn't know where my music is even though it is connected to the HD. Alternatively, it asks to me to find the music I select and when I do it then plays it but it still can't find the remainder of my files.
How do I get iTunes to further recognize my files without individually finding them for it?

JimmyYou don't say if your mac or windows, but mac itunes has library file and music file - click on library and you get the app window, click on music file and you'll find the playable files which are the ones you have to link to is you're getting the ! mark - I copied the whole itunes file to an external firewire 800 HD and linked itunes to that folder and no problems - but a couple weeks later I started to get the ! mark and when I went looking in the music file, there were no longer there... a couple weeks later and I've gone from 4 songs to over a hundred missing - the ones from my cd's I could load again but some of them were from itunes downloads and they won't address this problem but have no problem telling me I have to pay to download again - But they are all still on my ipod, just not in my computer.

I had some updates for my mac mini and so I updated and when it reboot I checked iTunes and all of my data was gone. I have a 2TB External HDD that contains all of my iTunes data and before the latest Sept. 2012 iTunes update I had the folder located in the advanced tab of itunes located on my external HDD. After the reboot and the new iTunes software was installed it defalted to my HDD on my mini and nothing that was there before the update was no longer there. All of my music, playlists, podcasts, folders, movies etc. was gone. I have redirected the library file locating back to my external HDD but it still is not working. HELP!!!!
Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Windows images, but you get the point. Depending on the age of your library the library file might not include the .itl extention. Make it match the file you are replacing.
See MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks for tools to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.

After the latest iTunes update neither of my iPods are recognized by iTunes, so I am unable to sync. When I run diagnostics it says no device connected. My laptop sees my iPod so I know it is connected. I have tried all of the recommended iTunes fixes and none work. I tried deleting and reinstalling both an older version and the newest version. The older version would not reconize my music libray. Any thouhts?

Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

I did the latest update and synched my iPhone 5C, after the sync all music that was not purchased through iTunes will not play on my phone. I figured out how to "homeshare" those songs but they aren't really on my phone so once wifi is off I no longer have them. Any suggestions? Most of these song were off of cds. I don't want to purchase them all again through iTunes what a waste of money. I'm feeling super annoyed.

ITunes no longer plays any music.
my iTunes that I use at work on Windows no longer plays music. I double click a song and nothing happens. I hit play and nothing happens. Even when I go into the music through iTunes, I double click a demo song and nothing happens.
So I reinstalled iTunes and have the same problem still. So unless anybody has a troubleshoot for this. I'll be looking for another music application to set up my music in.I'm having a similar problem.
When I click to play some of my purchased songs, it just skips right over it. But, it increases the "Play Count" column value by 1 each time, even though it doesn't play anything.
Of the $50 worth of music that I just bought today, only 2 songs seem to be working. The "Play Count" column is blank for these songs. And I think these are songs that I bought without previewing them first.
Maybe if you buy a song WHILE previewing it, it will cause this bug? /shrug -
As of iOS 8.1.1, iTunes no longer sees my iPhone at all.
I download new music on my computer regularly, and thus, sync my iTunes library to my iPhone regularly. As soon as I updated my iPhone from iOS 8.1 to 8.1.1, iTunes on my computer was no longer able to see my iPhone at all. The first time I tried to sync after updating, I noticed that my iPhone did not appear in iTunes as it always had. I thought I had turned off wifi on the phone, but that was not the case. I have not been able to get iTunes to find my phone via wifi since then. Next, I tried to plug my phone into my computer with an Apple lightning cable. This charged my phone, but my phone still never appeared in iTunes. I get a message on my phone asking me if I 'trust' the computer that the phone is connected to (despite the fact that these two devices have been syncing regularly for about 2 years now). I press 'yes,' and that does nothing. The next time I plug it in, it asks me the same thing again. I have made sure both OSs and iTunes are up to date, and have restarted both devices. Everything else seems to be working fine. It's as if the iOS 8.1.1 update is somehow prohibiting iTunes from recognizing / communicating with my iPhone.

I've literally done everything to try to rectify this problem, including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes on several different occasions, wiping my phone clean, and changing around the drivers several times. I have a feeling it's not iTunes' fault since I can connect my mother's iPhone 6 to the computer just fine. Everything was fine until the 8.1.1 update dropped and now everything's gone wrong.

ITunes no longer sees remote speakers
I went away for a day, came back, and found that iTunes could no longer see my remote speakers on my Airport Express. I've been using this setup for years without a problem, so I haven't the faintest clue as to why it decided not to work now. I searched the forums and saw that I'm not the first to have this problem, but I found no solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?
I've turned everything off and unplugged it, waited several minutes and turned it all on again (starting with the modem), and I've tried everything else I've read on these boards so far and at the Apple Support FAQ. I'm at my wit's end. It's maddening to have something that was working so well for so long just stop working for no apparent reason whatsoever.Exact same problem here. Hi. Tried to play music via airtunes to AX connected to stereo, but no speaker selections in iTunes! Been working for the past year. Went to airport admin utility (4.2) for the AEBS and when configuring it showed the Music tab for about a second then it went away. I can't select Music to setup airtunes! Where's the tab? "
Run the airport admin utility for for base station and see if the "Music" tab is still there. For some reason, when my airtunes problem started (no speaker selection in itunes) I noticed that when a I ran the airport utility the Music tab shows for a second or so until the AEBS name shows and then the tab goes away. All of the other functions of the AX works fine (green lite).
One theory is that the line out portion of the AX fails over time. Not sure, but I've reinstalled the latest SW for the AEBS, AX, itunes, etc. and I think it may be AX hardware related.
I still have Applecare with my powerbook and since I use the AX with it, it's covered. Apple is sending me a new AX so I'll try it and report back if the new AX has airtunes working again.
About the flashing yellow lite after factory reset. Like Hon. says run the utility since it's been reset to "just out of the box". When I reset mine yesterday, I couldn't find the AX in the utility running it from my PowerMac (AEBS connected via ethernet) even after multiple rescans. I went to my powerbook and found the AX as a separate network (under the airport signal arcs at the top). It had the same IP address as the AEBS. Selecting the AX network and then running the airport assistant allowed me to set it up correctly to join my current network from the AEBS. I hope that helps.

Syncing photos to iPad—iPhoto or Aperture?
When syncing photos from a computer to an iPad, is the choice between iPhoto or Aperture and either/or choice? Clearly only one can be done at a time, but suppose I sync with iPhoto once and next time with Aperture? I would try it and see what happen
