ITunes no longer shows Apple TV

My apple TV was showing over half of the space as other. I didn't know what this was and read somewhere that it was corrupt files and that I had to do a reset to factory to get rid of it. So I did the factory reset and the apple tv showed up the first time in itunes. It started to sync but then nothing is showing up on the apple tv. In the preferences window it shows that the "Apple TV" is in the found list and shows that it is syncing but nothing is going on and now it is not showing up in the device list.
I've gone through powering down the apple tv to restarting itunes to no avail. Nothing still works. Tried to add the library again it give me the code on the TV but nothing is seen up at the iMac.
Any ideas on what is going on. I love my apple tv and these past few days have been highly frustrating. Recently upgraded to snow leopard and also when I reset the box upgraded to the newest apple tv rev.

I have the same problem since I upgraded to OSX6 and a new Time capsule.
(I had no problem with my previous airport and osx5)
Itune is now unable to see my appleTV
My network works fine, I did a test with Apple TV, I can Ping the address of Apple Tv from my computer.
I use a time capsule, osx6.1,
I have tested all the solutions: do a factory reset of the appleTv, restart everything.
I stay in the same mess.
What I found in "Troubleshooting Apple TV not regognized by iTunes" is that the UDP port5353 should be opened. But when I do a port scan with the network utility the port is neither opened, nor listed.
Can someone help?
Excuse my english, I am french.
Thank you.

  • Since an update about a month ago, iTunes no longer shows which songs on an album I've previously purchased. Anyone know why?

Somce an update about a month ago, iTunes no longer shows which songs on a particular album I've previously purchased. Does anyone know why? For example, I purchase a number os songs fro Glee individually. When a new compilation album comes out, iTunes used to indicate which ones I've already purchased. Now it doesn't.

    you could use this script:
    Track Down Purchases
This script will examine each track in a selection of tracks or a selected playlist to determine if it was purchased from the iTunes Store and then copies it to a discrete playlist named for the person who purchased it, eg: "Steve Ballmer's Purchased Music". Recognizes song, video, and audiobook purchases. Purchaser information is gleaned by examining the track's file, which, depending on file location and access speed, can take as long a second per track.

  • Itunes no longer shows my remote speakers

Since loading leapard my remote speaker option in itunes has gone. Airport utility now longer shows my two airport express base stations which I use for streaming my music. Only my AEBS shows in the utility. Can anyone offer advice please.

    Hi,
I have the same problem but managed to solve a small part of it, namely the AEX not showing in Airport Utility. If you join your Mac via ethernet cable to the AEX it will be seen in the Airport Utility and can be configured.
Unfortunately - at least in my case - iTunes still does not recognise the remote speakers after the procedure.
    Cheers,

  • Just Downloaded current version of iTunes, no longer shows any duplicates and has doubled up on nearly every song in the library, 1500 odd! Also don't want or understand i Cloud, how do I get rid of it?

I have Just downloaded the latest update to iTunes 11, it no longer shows any duplicates, and there are many, over 1500 songs. Also what is this iCloud? I neither want it, use it or need it, so how do I get rid of it? I have enough trouble merely getting in contact with iTunes, you don't make too many allowances for those of us who are not really computer savvy. Maybe I can dump the lot and revert to a friendlier (for me) version?

Sorry but I know of no way of not backing up for a PC.

Your Apple ID should be the same for iTunes as for the sign-in page for this forum. Unless you have multiple Apple IDs? That's never a good eway to go...

  • ITunes won't show Apple TV in devices

So? Can't restore ATV's anymore through iTunes?

    Hi aussiedee77,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you may be connecting your Apple TV to a computer in order to restore it using iTunes.
If the Apple TV doesn't appear in iTunes, start with these troubleshooting tips:
Some micro-USB cables that are bundled with products or accessories may only support charging those products (and not transmitting data) or they may work only with the product with which they were sold. Using one of these cables to restore your Apple TV may cause the issues above.
To resolve these issues, please try these basic restore steps first. If the issue persists, continue with the following advanced troubleshooting steps.
Temporarily disconnect any unnecessary USB devices from your computer, leaving only your Apple TV, the micro-USB cable, and a keyboard and mouse, if necessary.
Restart your computer and try to restore again.
If the issue persists, try using a different micro-USB cable if possible. If you don’t have another micro-USB cable, your local Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider can assist you in restoring your Apple TV.

  • Previously Purchased Movie on iTunes No Longer Showing Up Under Purchased Items

I purchased a movie from iTunes in November 2012 (Coldplay: Live 2012) and it wasn't showing up on my AppleTV Purchased movies section (wanting to use the iTunes Extra feature on recent AppleTV 6.2 update). I've checked other threads and it was suggested to check my account for Hidden Purchases. The movie I purchased does not show up under Hidden Purchases.
I then checked Purchased items from the main iTunes page, and I don't even see the movie listed there, even though I have a record of the purchase through my Purchase History under My Account.
Any suggestions on how to get this to show up under my Purchased items on iTunes or AppleTV?

I am having similar problems buying movies. The rights issue occurs even if iTunes change or reduces the price of a movie. I now have to check my saved library of past purchases to confirm I do not already have the movie to avoid buying it again. The latest occurrence was fifth element.
It would be really useful if apple would allow you to download a full copy of your past purchases as it is no longer possible to rely on the iTunes store to match your own downloaded  content library and the current licenses it holds. This also plays havoc with genius recommendations for purchases.
It would be nice if apple could buy Time/Warner or another media giant so we could break this monopoly of selling the same content over and over again by simply changing the format or metadata of a product.

  • Songs in itunes no longer showing on ipod

I had a number of playlists in my itunes. synching w/ipod was never a problem.
then today I got message that due to limited space on my pc's HARD DRIVE, that itunes could not do a complete sync, and that they would create a new playlist (called [my name's] playlist) and put those selected songs only (from my overall library) on my ipod.
so then my ipod showed one playlist only ([my name's] playlist}.
I then freed up space on my pc's hard drive.
once again tried to sync up my ipod w/my itunes. i also deleted that additional playlist that itunes had created. all my other playlists were still there with all my songs.
so i expected my ipod would then sync as usual, esp. since i just freed up space on my hard drive.
but no, then my ipod just showed an empty On the Go playlist. I can't get all my songs in itunes to show in my ipod anymore. also, when I DO now open up itunes, I initially get a message that says "songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for updating no longer exist" but that doens't surprise me...because the one temporary list that itunes created, I have since deleted. But all my OTHER lists are still there. So why isn't it syncing THOSE to my ipod?
Should I try the 5 R's to fix this?
    Tx!

Thanks. OK, I read that other post, but it's only causing me to have more questions. So I can't get that itunes-created list back... the one that I deleted. That's Ok, because all my other personal playlists are still there. Also, the problem was not that my ipod capacity was smaller than the amount of songs in itunes. The problem was that my pc hard drive was too full. I have since freed up space on my hard drive.
So what's not clear to me is what I have to do now to get my ipod to sync like it used to. I freed up space on my hard drive, so it should be able to sync again, as it used to, no?
    Thanks!

  • How to group video or tv shows  iTunes 12 and show Apple TV

Hi everyone. I would like to group my tv shows but I try edit info sort and add tv name show for multiple files and does not work when sync to apple tv.
In iTunes 11 I would select the files and then click info and sorting and add tv show. Then my Apple TV is all organised. Now I have 90 separate files on my apple to gen 1. Any one know or worse scenario can I downgrade to 11 as I miss my sidebar too. I am now using Yosemite.

  • Help! My iTunes no longer shows my collection

My music library and playlists have become the default iTunes showing only the purchases from the last 2 weeks. There were a couple things new that I did, one or both of which must have affected this:
I moved my iTunes library, following accurate directions, to another hard drive. Its path is correctly shown in iTunes/Advanced.
The other day I deleted an email address (which had been my Apple ID), and made the proper change of email address on Apple's site. All was well.
Today when I went to purchase something from iTunes, the account listed was the old email address, and when I entered my password, it did not accept it. So I went into the account and changed the email address to my new one, which had already been changed at Apple.
In iTunes, there is none of my original stuff there, only default folders and only showing the few things I downloaded recently.
Should I have deactivated account? How do I get my stuff back? I don't want to use the iPod to transfer the stuff back into iTunes because iTunes had more stuff than I put on the iPod.
I do have the library backed up, and it is still on the hard drive. But what happened, and what should I do to restore myself? Thanks!

Solved it. Hold down option (alt) while launching iTunes, and it asks to locate the iTunes library. Point it at the file called "iTunes library". All is back where it belongs. Apparently pointing to it in the Advanced tab wasn't enough.

  • Itunes will only show apple tv as device, but itunes won't show some tabs

when apple tv is connected to my laptop, itunes will show the device but the screen won't show some of the tabs like: info, or music, it does show: summary, photos. What is wrong with itunes not showing the apple tv device source tabs?

Hello Nate, thanx for the solution but that also doesn't worked for me and to name it - I am not willing to disable my firewall to get something running that worked before the atv 2.4 and itunes update - same with my network settings - after trying static IPs I returned to DHCP - so if there are friends in my network they don't need to adjust anything at their devices! And I am not working with WLAN - just simple cable - good, fast and save!
My atv has a static MAC-Address isn't it an easy thing for a software to search for it? I am willing to enter it in itunes if I could but I can't!
The whole software programming seems not to be very buggy and insufficent to me!
    e.g.
    1) The atv reboot-function on the atv-remote with pressing - and menu for 5 seconds always gets me the fancy question mark - so the only real reboot is pulling the plug,
    2) On itunes I can test my network, my iphone and my ipod (which I don't have) but why can't I test my apple tv connection?
    3) Sometimes I had the problem that I have to sync some content (music and videos) more than one time to be accepted from the atv - even if it was mp3 and mp4 - but that's not a problem anymore while there is not any sync for the atv
It seems to me that I am forced to enable SSH or FTP-connect so I can get rid of itunes!

  • ITunes no longer shows iPod's playlists

I bring my iPod to work with me all the time, and just leave the "manage music manually" (or whatever that button says) ticked so that I can browse and control my music.
There is a little arrow beside the iPod icon that I can click and it shows me all the playlists. Now the arrow is gone. I've reconnected, checked for updates, rebooted, run a file system check (which did mention that there was no kernel attached or something like that for the usb ipod driver, but kept going and reported "appears to be ok") and repaired permissions. iTunes has NOT been updated since sometime last week. It was working fine when I left Friday.
I can manage my iPod (which I don't want to do) with the iTunes at work but I can no longer play my music because I can't find a way to view any list of songs. Help, please??? I need my tunes or I'll lose my sanity to the boredom.
    Thanks,
    Brooke
    12" PB 867, G4 Giga D450, Indigo iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Can someone please at least tell me if this is an upgrade 'feature' of iTunes 7.3? If it isn't then this machine has issues. My laptop has not been upgraded and it works with the iPod fine (even though it is not the machine it syncs with). I'm afraid to upgrade because I need my tunes at work, really I do...

  • ITunes no longer shows my iPod classic.  do I show it in iTunes and manage it?

I have just upgraded to Yosemite and the latest iTunes. But my iPod Classic is no longer visible in iTunes

Thank you. When I asked the question the icon was not there. I tried again a few hours later, before seeing your response, and it was. I have no time to  experiment this morning. So maybe it was just a glitch of some sort first time. I am reassured that the new OS and iTunes is still compatible with iPod classic and should recognise it, but worried that sometimes it won't.

  • ITunes no longer shows 'Podcasts' item under iPhone device section.

    Stats:
    iPhone 4 (32GB)
    iOS version 4.3.3
    iTunes for Windows 7 (64-bit) Version 10.3.1.55
I have iTunes set to manually manage my music and podcasts. Previously I had done this by clicking on the "Podcasts" item under the iPhone device section. Here I would delete podcasts I had previously listened to and drag new podcasts from the "podcasts" item under the Library section. As of today, when I connect my iPhone to my computer, it no longer lists a "podcasts" item under my iPhone in the Devices section.
Now I can't fine a place to delete old podcasts. I also do NOT want to use iTunes sync function for podcasts. Anyone else having this issue?
    -Mike

Just found out. You select the podcast page on your iPhone 4. You drag your finger, from right to left, over the screen, just like you do to delete e-mails. The delete option will present itself. Touch the delete button and confirm. The podcast will be deleted.

  • ITunes no longer shows podcasts played from iPod

It's just recently that I can no longer see which of the podcasts that I've already listened to on either of my two shuffles (2nd and 3rd gen). Also I used to be able to delete a "listened to" podcast in iTunes and it would automatically delete it from the iPod listing as well. Now I have to glance back and forth between iPod and iTune to determine which and been hear and which have been deleted. Previous ability to see "listened to" podcast from an iPod was much more user friendly than current version.
