ITunes no longer syncs correctly!!!

I haven't had any complaints about the updates - till now.
I tried to add PDF's to my iBooks and add or delete things from my iPad for work and home.  Apps seem to work, music sort of works.   But the arrangement for books and video is not the same as music.  I can pull up the content on the iPad, or see the content on iTunes.  No where does it allow me to look at my iTunes content, decide what goes on the iPad, then Apply that to my iPad. ***?!?!
iTunes worked just fine, what the heck have they done?
With a lot of fussing, I somehow got my iTunes content up on the left and my iPad on the right.
It took forever to pick through my PDF's, drag and drop to the iPad side.  I had to check several times to see if the content was on the iPad, as it no longer shows me a list, just the categories,  (Music, Movies, Podcast, Books...)
I looked in help for information, all of it is old.
What the heck am I missing?

Not a single response?!? Is nobody else having this problem?

  • ITunes no longer syncs to iPhone or iPad after iOS security update

I did the iOS security update on my iPhone 5 and my iPad Air.  Now, iTunes will not sync with either device - neither one.  In both cases, I get the error message "iPhone5 (or iPad) can not be synced.  An unknown error occured (1140)."
I then did the iTunes update that just came out - still the same problem.
The Mac is a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 7 running OSX 10.7.5.  Everything worked fine before the iOS security update.
What is going on?  What to do?

Finally, I had time to do a on-line support session with the Apple Care help people (excellent).  We went through and verified a lot of things.  Finally, he had me run the disk utility and run "repair disk permissions".  That resolved things and it works now.
Also related is that the iOS 7.1 update installed a lot of stuff on the iPhone - including iMovie, Numbers, Pages, Keynotes - stuff that I will use on the iPad but not on the iPhone.  The result of automatically installing all these things on the iPhone was to but it way over the limit on memory.  I deselected thos apps (and a few others) plus some movies and am now below the memory limit on the iPhone.
Things are now working well with both the iPhone and iPad - both syncing correctly.  So, with that, I will close out this case.

  • ITunes no longer syncs with Outlook

Hi, I'm doing research on behalf of a client....
He's running Win7 Pro x64, Outlook 2010, iTunes 10.7, iOS 6 on both his new iPhone 5 and iPad 2 wifi only model.
He has a strange hybrid exchange going on in his office; his former IT provider never fully set it up, so he's using exchange for calendar & contacts, but email is POP.
For several years, he's happily been using iTunes to sync his calendar & contacts with Outlook.
That recently stopped working, and it seems like it must have been caused by either iTunes 10.7 and/or iOS 6.
What happens now when we plug either device into his desktop is it starts the sync process, says it's syncing calendars or contacts (step 2 of 6) and goes no further; it will sit there for as long as you let it with the little bar spinning, making you think it's working, but nothing ends up happening. iTunes does not freeze and otherwise works normally.
Here are a few of the steps I've tried to make iTunes sync his data with Outlook:
    - Repaired .PST file, found & fixed errors.
    - Repaired .OST (exchange cache on computer) file, found and fixed errors.
    - Repaired Office software itself.
    - Completely removed all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes.
    - Forced sync
    - Tried removing calendars & contacts from iPhone & iPad and forcing a sync.
    - Deleted iDevice backup from within iTunes & tried a sync.
When I uncheck the Outlook sync options in iTunes, the sync completes successfully. So clearly there's a big issue with the Outlook sync component here.
Does anyone have any insight at all as to how we can solve this?
At this point I'm working on moving him entirely to Exchange so that everything will sync wirelessly over Activesync, but that's going to be more expensive and involved than getting iTunes to work like it used to .
    Thank you

  • Itunes no longer syncs new tv shows to my iphone4 after 10.5.1.42 update

I just did the itunes update to version 10.5.1.42, and now when I try to synch with my iphone4, it will NOT copy any of my new TV shows from my itunes into the phone.
    I'm on a PC, using windows 7, 32 bit.
I have never had a problem like this before -- I download tv shows to itunes and then synch them to my phone all the time.  I have all the settings checked the same as before.  The synch process appears to work successfully, but it never actually transfers the shows, and when I go to look at the videos on my phone, none of the "new" ones are there.
The only "work around" I can find is to download straight to my phone from the cloud.  That is a major hassle for me, as the wifi currently available to me (at work) is super slow and would take well over an hour just to download one show.  Not to mention I shouldn't have to do that.
is there any fix for this?  Can I roll back my itunes to the previous version that worked just fine?

Finally, I had time to do a on-line support session with the Apple Care help people (excellent).  We went through and verified a lot of things.  Finally, he had me run the disk utility and run "repair disk permissions".  That resolved things and it works now.

  • ITunes no longer syncs "Notes" and "Reminders" to the iPod.

I bought a new MacBook Pro and I find iTunes no longer has that option.  Is that correct?

Just today I noticed the same thing (song not advancing on completion of prior song) in both playlists and the main library.
I also apparently have no genius results for any song in my library now and iTunes DJ is only showing two albums, no matter how many times I refresh it.
It has to be something basic that I'm overlooking, I hope.

  • ITunes no longer syncs podcast pause locations between devices

This is how iTunes used to work: If I was listening to a podcast on my iPod and paused that podcast anywhere in the middle, when I would sync the iPod with iTunes, that pausing point would be remembered by iTunes. Meaning... If I then started playing the same podcast in iTunes (after the sync with my iPod), iTunes would play the podcast starting from the exact same spot I paused it on my iPod.
Likewise, iTunes used to remember and share that pause point BETWEEN my iPod and iPhone. Allowing me to listen to the podcast on the iPod in my car, take the iPod into the house and sync it with iTunes, and then sync my iPhone with iTunes and I could continue listening to the podcast on my iPhone from the same pause point.
With iPhone 3.0.1 installed, iTunes 8.2.1 (6) installed, and Mac OS X 10.6 installed, NONE of the above is true anymore.
If I pause my iPod and sync it with iTunes and then try to play the same podcast in iTunes, it starts from the beginning, no matter where it was originally paused on the iPod. And the pause point is no longer transferred from device to device.
Someone please tell me that these changes are not a new "feature". Please tell me there is hope this will be fixed and SOON! Maybe the remembering of the pause point was causing consternation for some users but, let's face it, it's EASY to go back to the beginning of a podcast and it's impossible to remember where you left on in a given podcast, particularly if you listen to 2 or 3 different ones in a week and don't complete them before switching to another.

  • What the **** has Apple done now? iPhone 4 no longer syncs correctly

After all the B/S of trying to sync a SonyEriccson P1i the iPhone 4 was a beath of fresh air. So typically 'Apple' with its simplicity and efficiency.
Yet suddenly it will not sync correctly. Is it iTunes 10.1.2 or iOS 4.2.1 to blame? I have no idea.
Only some of the new contacts entered into the phone transfer to the Address Book. Those that do not will not transfer in ANY direction ie. neither from MBP to iPhone or vice-versa. Enter in a nonsense address and it will sync. Modify it to one of the 'troublesome' addresses in the Adrees Book and it will not update on the iPhone.
What the **** has Apple done now? Is this another crappy untested update somewhere?

Right then, for those who want to know the most likely suspect for all this sync'ing grief is the Sony Ericsson P1i.
Having finally got the iPhone talking to iTunes normally with latest contacts, calendar, Mail accounts etc AND syncing new contacts in BOTH directions (MBP to iP4 and iP4 to MBP) I then synced the SE P1i with the latest definitive up-to-date Address Book using Device Reset in order to wipe the phone first.
Everything suddenly stopped working again with the iPhone/iTunes syncing.
Getting it working again involved importing an old Address Book backup and doing a manual iPhone sync. Then restart everything, throw away the iPhone backup within iTunes, open up Mail and just click on stuff before closing it (because the Mail Accounts had also disappeared from the iPhone again), doing a manual 'One-Time' sync of Contacts forcing the computer info onto the iPhone, re-importing the latest Address Book backup on the MBP, doing one more manual sync, restart everything, throw away the iphone backup and then an auto sync.
Finally, everything gets loaded back onto the iPhone and the ability to add or delete contacts on both iPhone and MBP is reinstated with sync in both directions.
Moral of the story? Crush your Sony Ericsson. The P900 series used to sync cleanly and easily via Bluetooth (both Contacts AND Calendars), but the P1i is and always has been troublesome and difficult and has a VERY unstable Bluetooth connection. I went through months of misery with the third-party app Missing Sync and suffered corrupted computer Address Books all the time. A real piece of SH1T.

  • One of my playlists in iTunes is not syncing correctly to my iPhone

When my iPhone updated to iOS 7 a while back, I started having a problem with one of my Playlists. I was willing to ignore it for a while, but it's become enough of a nuisance that I'm seeking a solution.
I have a smart playlist called "Unrated", which I've set to contain any "Media Kind is Music" and "Rating is (none)". Before iOS 7, this correctly filtered to only new, unrated songs I'd recently added to my iTunes library, letting me play them on my iPhone and rate them as I went along. After iOS 7's update, however, the list still filters correctly within iTunes, but not when I sync my phone to it.
First, there seemed to be a random sampling of hundreds of songs showing up in playlist on my phone, even though I'd rated them. Eventually, I figured out that problem: I was syncing only some of my library to my phone because of space limitations, and any song I'd purchased from iTunes (not ripped from CD) was showing up there even if it wasn't really on my phone. I tried adding a condition to my smart playlist to weed out the iCloud (a feature I don't want to use because of cell data rates), and that still didn't work, so finally I just ended up adjusting my sync requirements to make sure that every song I'd purchased from iTunes was always synced to my phone. That took care of the rated songs appearing... but left my Unrated playlist completely empty. Even truly unrated songs I added to the library would show up in iTunes but not on my phone.
So I did some searching of the forums here, and read about the "dummy playlist" solution. Set up your intended playlist (the one I described above), then set up ANOTHER playlist whose only conditions are "Playlist is (the other playlist)", and that should work. But I tried that, and the newly created playlist didn't even appear on my iPhone at all.
Thoughts? Help? Bug that Apple's going to have to fix? Please?

Hi all.  I can’t tell you how to solve your iCloud 3.x issues.  Heck, I don’t think they’re even solvable.
But if you had a previous version of iCloud that was working correctly then I can definitely tell you how to solve the “iCloud Photo Stream is not syncing correctly to my Windows 7 PC” problem.  …without even a re-boot.
Log out of iCloud 3.0 and uninstall it.
Open My Computer and then open your C:\ drive.  Go to Tools/Folder Options and click on the View tab.  Select the “Show hidden…” radio button and click on OK.
    Open the Users folder.
    Open your user folder
    Open ProgramData (previously hidden folder)
Open the Apple folder – not the Apple Computer folder.
    Open the Installer Cache folder
In Details view sort on Name
Open the folder for the newest entry for iCloud Control Panel 2.x – probably 2.1.2.8 dated 4/25/2013
Right click on iCloud64.msi and select Install.
When finished, the synching between iCloud and your PC will be back to working perfectly as before the 3.0 fiasco.  The pictures will be synched to the same Photostream folder as before the “upgrade”.  Now all you need to do is wait until Apple/Microsoft get this thing fixed and working before you try the 3.x upgrade again.
I think the iCloud 3.0 software was written by the same folks who wrote healthcare.gov with the main difference being that healthcare.gov might eventually be made to work.
For those of you who hate to go backwards, think of it as attacking to the rear.  Which would you rather have, the frustration of no synching or everything working on an older version?
    Good luck…

  • ITunes still not syncing correctly with iPhoto 9.4.3

Since upgrading to version 9.4.x, iTunes hasn't been syncing correctly with iPhoto. There were duplicated events/albums, missing photos, photos not appearing in the same order on iOS devices as they do in iPhoto, etc.
With each version upgrade since 9.4, this seems to have been improving bit by bit. I have just upgraded to 9.4.3, and now photos appear in the same order as they do in iPhoto. The only problem left for me, is that there are still photos missing in iTunes. Which photos that are missing seems to be completely random.
I have tried rebuilding the library, which made matters a lot worse. Using 3rd party software like iPhoto library manager to rebuild the library didn't help either (iTunes syncing became a total mess, even more photos were missing afterwards).
I hope by version 9.4.4, iTunes will read all info correctly from iPhoto again, as it did in version 9.3.2. Anyone else still experience problems?

Sorry about that. Well, I've tried deleting the AlbumData.xml file as suggested also, but iPhoto itself generates a new file every time it's opened, so that's really a dead end. Rebuilding the library and through iPhoto Library Manager are the steps that required most work, and both did not work either, unfortunately.
I do believe that I'm not the only experiencing iTunes syncing problem, as there have been many posts here before when 9.4 came out. Like I wrote, it has been better with each upgrade, so there's definitely something in the coding with 9.4.x that messes things up. I had no trouble whatsoever with version 9.3.2 and prior to that.
    Terence Devlin wrote:
Please share a comprehensive list of things you've already tried so we won't your time - and ours - making suggestions you already know won't work.
Library size is not part of this issue. 12k photos is not a large library these days, I have one four times that size with no syncing issues.
