ITunes no longer syncs podcast pause locations between devices

This is how iTunes used to work: If I was listening to a podcast on my iPod and paused that podcast anywhere in the middle, when I would sync the iPod with iTunes, that pausing point would be remembered by iTunes. Meaning... If I then started playing the same podcast in iTunes (after the sync with my iPod), iTunes would play the podcast starting from the exact same spot I paused it on my iPod.
Likewise, iTunes used to remember and share that pause point BETWEEN my iPod and iPhone. Allowing me to listen to the podcast on the iPod in my car, take the iPod into the house and sync it with iTunes, and then sync my iPhone with iTunes and I could continue listening to the podcast on my iPhone from the same pause point.
With iPhone 3.0.1 installed, iTunes 8.2.1 (6) installed, and Mac OS X 10.6 installed, NONE of the above is true anymore.
If I pause my iPod and sync it with iTunes and then try to play the same podcast in iTunes, it starts from the beginning, no matter where it was originally paused on the iPod. And the pause point is no longer transferred from device to device.
Someone please tell me that these changes are not a new "feature". Please tell me there is hope this will be fixed and SOON! Maybe the remembering of the pause point was causing consternation for some users but, let's face it, it's EASY to go back to the beginning of a podcast and it's impossible to remember where you left on in a given podcast, particularly if you listen to 2 or 3 different ones in a week and don't complete them before switching to another.

  • ITunes no longer shows 'Podcasts' item under iPhone device section.

    Stats:
    iPhone 4 (32GB)
    iOS version 4.3.3
    iTunes for Windows 7 (64-bit) Version 10.3.1.55
I have iTunes set to manually manage my music and podcasts. Previously I had done this by clicking on the "Podcasts" item under the iPhone device section. Here I would delete podcasts I had previously listened to and drag new podcasts from the "podcasts" item under the Library section. As of today, when I connect my iPhone to my computer, it no longer lists a "podcasts" item under my iPhone in the Devices section.
Now I can't fine a place to delete old podcasts. I also do NOT want to use iTunes sync function for podcasts. Anyone else having this issue?
    -Mike

Just found out. You select the podcast page on your iPhone 4. You drag your finger, from right to left, over the screen, just like you do to delete e-mails. The delete option will present itself. Touch the delete button and confirm. The podcast will be deleted.

  • No longer syncing contacts and calendars between devices

Since purchasing iPhone 6 and installing all updates in that, iPad, and MacBook Air,  Calendar and Contacts do not sync between the devices and iCloud.  I enter new events and contacts in the computer or one of the others, and that's where they stay.  Previous instructions do not correspond to the options in the current devices.  Please advise.

    Hey missychaz,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iCloud Calendar. The following resource may provide a solution. All of the information is relevant for iOS 8 (simply follow the instructions titled for iOS 7):

  • IPod will no longer sync podcasts from iTunes store

Both our iPod and iPod Nano will no longer sync podcasts. We have downloaded new music, which will sync, but not the new podcasts from the iTunes store. iTunes indicates that it is syncing (which takes about 1 second) but the podcasts are not synced.
We have deleted all the existing podcasts and downloaded a single new one, with no change in the problem. We have tried both iPods and the result is the same.
We are running ESET NOD32 version 3.0 for Anti-Virus. We have checked with ESET and performed the exceptions that are known to cause problems with iTunes, and there has been no change, except that iTunes no longer freezes, which it previously did.
Hopefully someone out there can help us.

easiest way i have found to resolve the issue is go into itunes while phone is plugged in. you will have a list of tabs across, summery, info, ringtones, music. select music and where it displays sync music unselect that and hit apply in the bottom right (dont worry your music should be saved on the computer) once the sync is complete re check the music sync option. ive noticed this to work 95% of the time......hope this helps
I Hope I Was Able To Help You Or Solve Your Question.

Yes I've done a reset but it made no difference.

Just downloaded itunes update 11.1.4  and now my itunes no longer syncs with ipods or iphones.  What do i do?  Should i uninstall new update?  and how?

I am having the same issues with my iPhone 4 and iPad 2 not mounting within iTunes every since the iTunes update. I know my USB is working but this is crazy. • My iTunes no longer syncs with my phone!

My iTunes no longer syncs with my galaxy note3. I know galaxies aren't apple products but I happened to find a patch online for the note 3 to Allow iTunes to sync all my music but since I updated iTunes I haven't had any luck getting it to work. Please, I've been trying to find another patch to work with the new iTunes upgrade but haven't had any luck. If any if you knows of a new patch or something I could download to get it working again I would GREATLY appreciate it. Please help me

Thanks but it still doesn't work.
all my pre leopard entries still synch but none that have been put in since the "upgrade". I've tried starting new calendars from scratch. but nothing synchs. My .mac synch is fine! isn't that weird?

  • Since recent flurry of updates, all of which I applied, I can no longer sync photos to my iOS6 devices. Any thoughts

Since recent flurry of updates, all of which I applied, I can no longer sync photos to my iOS6 devices.
iTunes sync error at the photo sync step with an unknown error 1140.
I have restarted everything, unsynced & attempted re sync to no avail.
The photo sync screen only allows me to select the sync all option, the select specific events, albums etc . Choice is greyed out.
This is true for both my iPhone 4S and ipad2.

I think I have figured it out, and photos are syncing now.
Here is what I believe happened: There is an iTunes generated folder called "iPod Photo Cache" in my "Pictures" folder on my Airpot Disk. This folder gets generated by iTunes whenever you designate a location for syncing. The "iPod Photo Cache" folder contains a file called "Photo Database".
It looks like the "Photo Database" had been corrupted. Deleting this file, or alternatively, moving my pictures to a new folder and letting iTunes regenerate the Photo Database fixed the problem.

  • HT4972 My phone froze.  It says to connect to iTunes.  iTunes no longer displays the phone as a device.  Was just trying to upgrade IOS.

My phone is completely frozen. I was trying to upgrade the IOS on my iPhone 4   iTunes no longer sees the phone as a device so I can't operate the
Hone through iTunes anymore.  I have the latest version of iTunes and even redownloaded it.

I have a 4S and have the identical problem.  I also redownloaded iTunes just to make sure.  Does not recognize my phone as a device either. Phone is locked and useless

  • Why will my gen2 ipod no longer sync podcasts. I can still download from music from itunes itunes

Why is my ipod gen2 no longer syncing podacasts. They appear on itunes page but will not transfer to ipod. Music is still working fine. Thank you.

If at all possible, copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527).  Otherwise, you will lose and music that was not purchased from the iTune store unless you use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer it to your new computer.  See this article for how to move to a new computer with minimal or no data loss: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141.

  • I can no longer sync podcasts through iTunes on my iPod touch.  Getting a message that says I'm out of space - tells me to go to settings to manage my free space - but the storage meter does not say how much space is available

my ipod icon appears then disappears in itunes - I can no longer sync....

See my responses to your other posts. Just starting new posts all the time just causes confusion.

  • ITunes no longer syncs partially listened-to podcasts with my iPod

Hey, everyone. Since I downloaded the new iTunes 11, I've run into a problem with the podcasts I listen to. I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts, many of which are quite lengthy. For that reason, I often can't listen to the whole podcast in a single day. However, with the new iTunes, if I sync up my iPod while partway through a podcast, the iPod loses the partially listen-to podcast. It's as if the software assumes that since I've listened to part of it, I don't want it to sync anymore.
This is, of course, not the case. Is there a setting somewhere that I can toggle to make iTunes give me ALL my podcasts, regardless of whether I've listened to part of them (or even all all of them)? In short, I want my podcasts folder in iTunes to match what's on my iPod, not have iTunes make guesses about what I'll want.
    Thanks for any help!

OK, figured this out and wanted to post the solution in case anyone else experiences this.
When you plug in your iPod, iTunes should start up automatically and sync. A button, "iPod," should appear at the top of the iTunes player, just below the search window. Click it (but not the eject symbol on it).
This brings up the iPod control settings. Along the top menu, there will be several submenu options: "Summary," "Music," "Movies," "TV Shows," "Podcasts," etc. Clock "Podcasts."
Here there will be a radio button next to "Sync Podcasts." Make sure that is checked. There is also a radio button next to "Automatically include..." Click that to on as well. Then, if you want iTunes to STOP deleting partially listened-to podcasts, make sure the options in the two drop-down menus say "all" and "all podcasts." Thus, you'll end up with: "Automatically include all episodes of all podcasts."
Hope this helps. The new iTunes is far from user-friendly.

  • Can no longer sync podcasts on separate PC

In the past I have always had it setup that my music library syncs automatically on my mac, and my podcasts sync automatically on my pc. There has never been any interference between the two, and everything was working great.
Now with iTunes 7, as soon as I attempt to update my music library iTunes erases all of the downloaded podcasts that synced to it from the podcast computer. It does this EVEN THOUGH I have 'sync podcasts' unchecked on the music library's settings.
This is a big issue for me, since my powerbook only has usb 1.1. I sync podcasts frequently, but music more sporadically, so being able to send podcasts to my ipod before leaving the house is very important. I'm really bummed out that the functionality I relied on seems to be broken in the latest iTunes.
Is anyone in a similar situation as me? Is there some sort of workaround that I have yet to discover?

    Thanks again Curt Y
I found the 8bi file that would not update and moved it to my desktop as Adobe instructions.
I then downloaded a new version from their site and installed in the folder you sugested. ( had to buy Winzip first ) It worked after that.
I still dont now why it wouldnt update the original 8bi file though.
    Everything seems ok now
Thanks for your time and help
