Itunes, no more drag and drop?

Is it me or is 11.0.1 is the worst itunes ever?  I can no longer drag and drop songs into playlists.  I also have a program called "tune up" and it does not let me drag songs into the application.  I was trying to add to a playlist and now playlists that had 100 songs now have a 1000. Any suggestions for a fix?  I wish I could revert back to the old itunes!

You can drag and drop in to your existing playlists or create new ones.
From your music library, select the album, or songs from an album, and drag the right side of the window. As you drag a side window appears allowing you to drop the file or album in to your playlist.
Dropping the file into blank space will create a new playlist, once you release the click, you can edit the playlist's name which should already be highlighted.

iTunes... eh.. no idea what version.  I've looked for about a half hour and I couldn't find it.  Rather frustrating for a busy person like me to be dikin' around in iTunes looking for something simple like a version number.
Also, the new layout is kind of nice, but in many ways wretched and tedious.  What I wouldn't give to just be able to drag and drop mp3s to my iPhone like my android friends can do.
    Grumble Grumble.

    Using iTunes 11.0.1.12
Click on the box in the upper left corner, "Show Menu Bar," or press Ctrl+B.
    Help -> About iTunes
Shouldn't take a half hour to figure it out.

  • Albums that work fine in my desktop itunes don't drag and drop to my iphone

All of the albums work fine in my itunes on my PC, but when I connect my iphone 4s via USB then try to drag and drop them to my iphone, they initially show up, but when I open them on my iphone the songs read in a muted gray and won't play.
Then, after I deleted those albums on my iphone (and additional songs that worked fine on my iphone to be sure that space usage was not an issue), I tried to drag and drop the albums again from my itunesPC to my iphone itunes (connected USB) - but the albums won't tranfer at all this time.
I called apple and an advisor asked my to connect my iphone to my PC again and try deleting a single song (which worked fine previously on my iphone), then the advisor asked me to drag and drop that song back to my iphone from my PC itunes - it would not transfer.
It seems oddly that once I delete an item from my itunes on my phone it is denied re-entry.
    Any solutions?

You probably need a Web Browser that support Flash. We can try the link or you.

  • No more drag and drop?

I'm having problems dragging and dropping anything from my itunes library (podcasts and music specifically) onto my 1st gen ipod touch and my itunes playlists. Is anyone else having this problem? I can still add to itunes playlists by right clicking, but the drag and drop is so much easier. I did a full restore on my ipod and it still didn't fix the problem. Please help.

Yes, it has been reported here by several users.

The right-click and Add To Playlist will have to do until a release comes out that corrects the bug.

  • In iTunes, I cannot drag and drop music into my Ipod.

Correction: I can drag and drop a music file, but then on the iPod, the music file shows up in gray, unplayable, and just doesn't end up transferring. I have dragged and dropped music files on two different computers, now it doesn't work on either one. Any ideas what might be wrong?

  • ITunes won't drag and drop - AGAIN!!

I have the current iTunes on a MacBook Pro running the current OS
On several occasions, and now it's happening again, iTunes will not allow me to drag even one, let alone a batch, of tracks within or to playlists.
It's not because a column is sorted - checked that.
Just using the trackpad or a mouse - neither works.
One time an Apple person talked me through removing com.apple.itunes.plist from the Library and that solved the problem.  I have had to do this at least once more since, but it does not help this time.
A great pain when I am using iTunes to present a playlist and I need to make changes on the fly.

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
    1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
    2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
    3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
    4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.

  • Drag and Drop stopped working in iTunes

Just recently upgraded to latest iTunes 10.4, OS X 10.5.8 and Wacom driver 6.1.6-4. Drag and drop a selection to a playlist in iTunes no longer works. All was fine before iTunes/OS upgrade. Only upgraded Wacom to see if it made a difference which it didn't. Dragging and dropping with a USB mouse seems okay. I've noticed several similar problems on this board with no solution. Anyone else having this issue that has found a solution? Thanks.

Your case sounds very similar to mine.  I a bit older Mac G5 running OS X 10.5.8.  When I upgraded to iTunes 10.4 I found the drag and drop gone and a few other inconsistencies.  I reloaded iTunes and now everything works pretty well, but if I go into the iTunes Store my drag and drop feature goes away.  If i relaunch iTunes it comes back until I go in the Store again.  Hoping someone more familiar with the OS and application details can point me in some direction.  Thx

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    It sounds like be LaunchServices.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
    Code:
    <pre class="alt2" style="margin:0px; padding:3px; border:1px inset; width:640px; height:34px; overflow:auto">/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user</pre>
Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know

  • "drag and drop layout missing in 4.2"

The drag and drop layout is missing in 4.2
So we have no GUI to arrange regions or items in a region...
So I'm not sure if going to 4.2 is a step forward at all?
Apex needs to be more drag and drop configurable not less surely ?

  • Can I drag and drop a copy of my iTunes library from a portable hard drive more than once?

Can I drag and drop a copy of my iTunes library from a portable hard drive more than once?  Not copy it, but actually drag and drop it into my music folder on my computer more than once if needed?

Nothing is going to stop you from dragging it in multiple times, but what exactly are you trying to do?  Are you trying to get iTunes to look through the folder and pick up newly added song files?

  • Can't drag and drop to iTunes any more.

I can't drag and drop to iTunes any more, like I have done for years.  Files are correct for iTunes.  HD's have plenty of space.  What's wrong???

I logged in here for the first time in 4 years just to say THANK YOU!  This problem happened after my update to iTunes 12.01.  So puzzling!  Your fix worked.
    Much obliged.

  • ITunes won't let me drag and drop anymore

Last friday, I closed my Macbook and it never started again. I bought a new one. The guy at the Mac Store said, "Just plug in your iPhone, enter your pw, and everything will work like it used to." Of course, I left the store thinking, "No way is that going to happen," but I didn't stay and fight. Of course, I plugged in my iPhone, immidately my Mac started saying, "You do not have sufficient permissions." To get rid of it, I read a post that said I should select to sync and then unsync everything from the phone (which deleted everything of course, but I'm not that upset about). Anyhow, the iPhone syncs now, but the lingering issue is that my old computer let me drag and drop MP3 files directly from my Finder window to the iPhone music library in iTunes. I DID NOT HAVE TO USE THE ITUNES LIBRARY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO CREATE PLAYLISTS. (I hate people who capitolize things, but I've read in several other posts where people say, "That was never possible to drag and drop, you always had to create playlists." No, you did not. I gurantee you because I've never done it). To state it just once more, I did NOT load the songs into iTunes, then go from iTunes to the iPhone, but instead, with iTunes open, and the iPhone plugged it, I would select the mp3 in the Finder window, then drag it to the part of iTunes which allows me access to the iPhone, and the iPhone section of iTunes (not the main iTunes library on my Macbook, but the iPhone itself) would become highlighted in blue, then I would release the trackpad and the song would load onto the iPhone (but never be associated with or loaded into the iTunes library for my Macbook).
Now when I drag the mp3 over, the iPhone section stays gray and won't let me do it.
How can I fix this? I detest iTunes. I'd be in love with Apple completely if it weren't for iTunes, which is constantly broken and never works. I'm happy with my music stored in my own filing mechanism, with my own method of tagging them, and I don't want to conform, I don't want to "get used to it."
Please someone tell me how to fix this! (Before it messes up my iPad as well).
PS... Of course, in the time my computer broke and I bought the new one, Apple released yet another updated version of iTunes, which they forced me to update before I could even use it. So, I don't know if the phone didn't sync over correctly or the update didn't work.

Oh, also want to add that the PC I'm currently using is:
Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2
    My other PC was:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
    My MacBook is:
Max OSX 10.5.something (the last update available for it. .8 maybe? haha)
Not sure if this stuff is important, but I thought I'd add it.

  • After installing iTunes 10.5.1, I can no longer drag and drop files into iTunes. Any suggestions?

Basically when I try to drag files from a folder into iTunes, (drag and drop within iTunes is fine) the little picture of the circle with a slash through it shows up and wont allow me to drop it into iTunes. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? Thanks. I'm so frustrated I'm about to smash my computer. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my computer, everything I can think of.

just want to add my annoyance to the pile here. I can't see any logic behind removing the drag and drop function, especially when adding a new folder is now a multi-step process that is far from obvious. to start a new playlist with local folder content you now need to:enter settingsclick into advanced settings (basically all settings now seem to be "advanced"?)manually find and add the foldergo through the adventure of finding the files in your library.
-- because they may or may not be listed under "local files" - you won't know because Ctrl+F is also removed. so you have to remember/know what the album you added is called and search for that. if you have a mixed bag of file names from various albums, you're basically shafted; there's no way to find them all with a single search.then you can add them to playlisteta: but wait! there's more! if you have more than 15 files? you're **bleep** out of luck, because the search will only display the first 15 hits among your local files, and then show you spotify library tracks.I can't help but feel as though spotify is doing everything they can to stop us using spotify to listen to local files, as bugs that make it more or less impossible persist through multiple versions - and now features that seem to me to be basic functionality are being removed?mega minus points from someone who's been using spotify since 2008.
