ITunes not allowing me sync ipod

I opened iTunes and a message popped up that said "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly." I clicked ok and itunes opened. My ipod did not automatically start to sync, so I went to file and I can't click on the sync option because it is greyed out. I'm not sure what to do- any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPad but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPad with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.
also, there are PhoneView and iRip.

You cannot transfer from the iPhone to the computer.
You must move the contents of your old computer to the new one directly.
Use an external hard drive perhaps or restore your old computer backup to your new computer.
The iPhone is not the source of your data, that is the computer, the iPhone is only a slave device to iTunes.

Try removing and then reinstalling the Apple software using these instructions.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
The above containes a link for XP. Also. make sure you install the correct Apple software, It comes in 32 and 64 bit and you need the one that is the same as the computer OS

  • Why will itunes not allow me to download new software onto new laptop

    hi
wjy will itunes not allow me to download the new software to my new laptop, ive put my desrired email address in but it wont download

    Greetings BevAnneS,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like it does not recognize that iTunes is installed. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them.

  • Applications on two computers and not allowed to sync my ipod touch ?

    Hi all,
I have latest versions of itunes and ipod software (just updated now). This is the first time I use my laptop (PC, windows XP)(I copied all my itunes library and applications on this laptop from my desktop PC) to sync my ipod touch. I got a few new podcasts and applications here. During the sync, no problems for the podcasts it seems, but for the applications unexpectedly it tried to remove some applications from my ipod (but these were on my library) and tried to install the new ones. But couldn't do most of these because it says this computer is not allowed (however I end up with a few applications removed from the ipod touch).... This is a pain since I downloaded and even bought some applications in this laptop. So do I have to transfer all my applications to my desktop computer?
    thanks for the help.

I had the same problem. Just got my first I-Pod Touch today, and was downloading apps via I-Tunes when I found the problem. In I-Tunes, go to the STORE tab, and click on "Authorize Computer..." This will bring up the sign on screen for your password. After you log on, you will then be able to sync your apps. I don't understand why I-Tunes continually needs your password, but it does. Hope this works.

  • ITunes not allowing sub group of Address Book to sync with new iPad

When i try to sync part of my address book from iTunes, it only allows my to sync all vs a particular sub group I have created.  I had imported these contacts specifically for my wife's new Ipad and we prefer not to have the whole Address Book.  Please advise

Oh flip what did i do.
So i followed the instructions from that link. I re did my address book. That did not seem to work. So i reset my sync folder by copying and pasting the recomended path into the moniter. now when i go to itunes and try and sync my contacts absolutly nothing goes onto my phone.
I am so frustrated and now a little worried.
    Sound familiar at all???

  • IPod not bad, iTunes not bad, but sync errors still!

Hello all, I'm sorry to post yet another sync question but here's mine.
I have a desktop and a laptop. XP and Vista, respectively -- both latest version of iTunes
I have an older iPod Nano (8gb) and a brand new iPod Touch.
The Desktop will sync with the Nano fine, but will start transferring music or apps before I get 0xE800400B and then it will be confused about whether the iPod is still connected. Drive cannot be accessed, iPod is not connected, etc.
Latest drivers, all patches, tried with everything unplugged except my mouse/keyboard, reinstalled iTunes, cleared out and rebuilt library, etc. So that would imply the iPod is bad.
But I am successfully able to sync with my Laptop -- transferred the library just to make sure it could handle the ENTIRE content. And that worked fine -- so that would seem to say the desktop is the problem.
So I'm left wondering why out of these combinations, it seems only the desktop with iPod Touch doesn't work, but all others work fine -- which says to me the hardware is not invalid, and the software is good too.

    Sorry for the delayed response.
Yes, I did all that. Completely. Still got the problem. Either midway through transferring my purchased apps (after turning off sync music)
or with sync music on, it stops at Step 4 of 4, determining what tracks to sync.
I've also noticed that on the non-working computer it sees 221.GB of "Other" in addition to the apps, but on the working computer, it sees that 22.1 GB as music.
My next step is to go into recovery mode, and set it up as a NEW iPod, and see how that works with that system.

  • Voice memos in iTunes not being added to iPod

The Apple store told me to get rid of a bug on my iPod to set it up as a new iPod and not restore it from a backup since it was most likely a software issue and not hardware (music was skipping randomly even when not on shake to shuffle).  Everything is fine now except that I cannot get my old voice memos back on my iPod Touch4G.  They are in iTunes and before I sync I makes sure the "include voice memos" is checked, but it still does not work.  Any suggestions on how to get these back on my iPod?  Thanks.

    Thanks for the help!

  • ITunes not allowing update to 4.2

    I have a 3G on 4.1 (8B117) trying to update to 4.2, and iTunes is not allowing it. I'm running OS 10.4.11 and up-to-date iTunes 9.2.1 (5).
When my iPhone is connected, the iTunes phone summary tab shows that an update is available to 4.2 and to click Update, as I have always done in the past. When I do that, I get a pop-up window that says: "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version." It doesn't open the window to give the option to install now, download, etc., as usual.
I have tried re-launching iTunes and re-connecting the phone, but no change. Would anyone have a suggestion as to what, if anything I'm doing wrong, or what a possible solution might be available?
    Thanks.

You need iTunes 10.1 or higher to install iOS 4.2.1. iTunes 10.1 or higher requires Leopard or Snow Leopard. You have no choice but to update your computer's OS.

  • Why i can't load music from my iTunes library to my synced iPod touch

Why can't I load music from itunes library to synced ipod touch

" I have no idea what you're talking about my phone being hacked."
I explained:  "Your iphone must be hacked as you cannot copy from finder on a legit iphone."
"I used to be able to drag music FROM THE ITUNES LIBRARY to THE IPHONE. Now I can no longer do that"
Again, I explained: "you would check the manually manage music box of you wanted to drag and drop."
Do you have the manually manage music box checked?
