Itunes not allowing Shuffle visibility

I have just purchased an Ipod shuffle, I have registered it on apple site, upgraded itunes, agreed licence agreement but when I connect to itunes it will not progress off the licence agreement page. I have tried to added a couple of tracks to shuffle but unable to view what tracks are on there and how much space I have. Can anyone help me to resolve.

    hi
wjy will itunes not allow me to download the new software to my new laptop, ive put my desrired email address in but it wont download

    Greetings BevAnneS,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like it does not recognize that iTunes is installed. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, Don't uninstall these components in a different order, or only uninstall some of them.

  • ITunes not allowing update to 4.2

    I have a 3G on 4.1 (8B117) trying to update to 4.2, and iTunes is not allowing it. I'm running OS 10.4.11 and up-to-date iTunes 9.2.1 (5).
When my iPhone is connected, the iTunes phone summary tab shows that an update is available to 4.2 and to click Update, as I have always done in the past. When I do that, I get a pop-up window that says: "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version." It doesn't open the window to give the option to install now, download, etc., as usual.
I have tried re-launching iTunes and re-connecting the phone, but no change. Would anyone have a suggestion as to what, if anything I'm doing wrong, or what a possible solution might be available?
    Thanks.

You need iTunes 10.1 or higher to install iOS 4.2.1. iTunes 10.1 or higher requires Leopard or Snow Leopard. You have no choice but to update your computer's OS.

  • ITunes not allowing use of all free space allocated to music - 1Gen shuffle

I'm wondering why my iTunes won't allow me to completely fill the space on my 1st generation iPod shuffle that's been allocated to music. About 1.5 mb is reserved for other data, and the rest is for music, which is how I want it. But I can only ever fill about half of the storage space allocated to music, and there doesn't seem to be any way for me to alter this, as there's no slider on the storage bar - not that I should need it. I know I've been able to adjust this in the past on another computer, but I can't do it anymore; at least not on my current computer. The syncing will stop when it's half full, and if I try to manually drag songs to the iPod it'll just tell me there's no more room.

maybe half of your disk on your ipod shuffle is corrupt (meaning broken) or itunes is reserving more roomfor data than you think, but those are just guesses meaning I might not be right at all.

  • Itunes not allowing outlook 2003 to start

g,day...I have not been able to get my outlook to start with itunes 8 installed. If I uninstall itunes then my outlook will start properly. I am using the domino connector for outlook and the error message I get is that the domino connector cannot start and that outlook has failed to open a set of folders. I can get outlook to start if I uninstall my domino connector and reinstall it however I do not want to do this every time I need my mail.

There are different kinds of CDs.  An audio CD is a standard music CD.  A data CD can contain music files (e.g., mp3) or any other kind of file. Now you may have your music as mp3s which take up 200MB in mp3 format, but if you try to burn these to audio format they are expanded to that formatt and that allows for 80 minutes maximum.  MP3 CDs can hold up to the maximum of space allowed for files.  You could have several days worth of music on there if you compressed it to the lowest quality possible.
As for the track order, for audio CDs: How iTunes remembers audio CDs - http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27785  For mp3 CDs it would help to know how you are playing these.  They are really just data CDs and file order is alphabetical as it is for other data.
On the second issue, I have seen other report similar but it isn't universal, nor is there a given reason for it happening. Here are some links I have collected:
Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.

  • ITunes not allowing me to drag/drop songs into iPod Touch

i have a little over 25 gigs of music on my computer. i have space for only 14 gigs of music on my iPod, so i don't want it to sync my library automatically. however, when i try to drag/drop music like i have with my other iPods (this is my third one) it won't let me...it gives me the little symbol like in ghostbusters but without the ghost in the middle, y'know? like i said, i need to upload stuff manually because my Touch doesn't have space enough for my whole library...so what gives??
edit: i have the latest versions of iTunes and the latest iPod software, and i've restarted both my PC and iPod since installing said updates.
edit (again): nevermind, i'm a fool. right there on the iPod homepage there's a box under "options" and i just had to click "manually add songs." so, i answered my own question, holler.

  • ITunes not allowing sub group of Address Book to sync with new iPad

When i try to sync part of my address book from iTunes, it only allows my to sync all vs a particular sub group I have created.  I had imported these contacts specifically for my wife's new Ipad and we prefer not to have the whole Address Book.  Please advise

Oh flip what did i do.
So i followed the instructions from that link. I re did my address book. That did not seem to work. So i reset my sync folder by copying and pasting the recomended path into the moniter. now when i go to itunes and try and sync my contacts absolutly nothing goes onto my phone.
I am so frustrated and now a little worried.
    Sound familiar at all???

  • VoiceOver for iTunes not only Shuffle

I'm a recent owner of an iPod Shuffle and I am thrilled with the VoiceOver capabilities. It is so intuitive that it takes my usage of an mp3 player to a newer level.
Nevertheless, I from time to time listen to music and other content in may computer while I work. And I found myself trying to get the name of the song or skipping to a different Playlist using the built-in buttons in my earphones. Which of course do not work, but I wonder why? if it works on a micro device like the shuffle, why not in the computer. Isn't it logic? I mean, it does help to have the playlists names read aloud while you keep your eyes on your task and just press again the button when you hear the playlist name you want, or for people that is listening to a record which doesn't sound familiar to check for the name of the artist?
Any ideas on when Apple will include VoiceOver Kit as an iTunes feature?
    Message was edited by: RodrigoCB

VoiceOver on the shuffle is there because there is no other way to identify what you are doing (no screen).
Any ideas on when Apple will include VoiceOver Kit as an iTunes feature?
VoiceOver has been a part of Mac OS X since Tiger (10.4).
Turn it on (System prefs -> Universal Access) and it will read anything on the screen.
The buttons for the headphones do not work on the computer because you have a mouse and a keyboard for that.
I doubt very much if Apple is working on getting those buttons on the headphones to twork with iTunes on the computer.

  • ITunes not allowed in the Enterprise!

Ok so I want to sync data but iTunes is forbidden on our machines. I don't think we are the only company with this policy so how then is the iPad ready for enterprise use?

Sure, you could possible pair down iTunes for installation.
My company (having a globally installed base of 35,000+ workstations) will install and support BB software on a specific employee’s assigned desktop/laptop and is willing to do the same for iTunes to support the iPhone.
Our mobile phone users don’t create content on their phones. The BBs and such are generally only used for voice, email, calendars, notes, contacts.
Because of the way these devices are used, we're not required to install and support BB software on every workstation through-out the enterprise that a BB user may come into contact with throughout their business day.
However, the iPad is much more that a Black Berry/Smart Phone/iPhone.
Our employees that are asking for iPads are looking to eliminate the need to carry a laptop to access Intranet web sites, deliver presentations, check and compose email, create simple documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint compatible).
Any content that is created on the iPad needs to be accessible and shareable via USB and not just over 3G and WiFi. The vast majority of our global operation does not have WiFi coverage (and won’t anytime in the near future). 3G coverage is not always available or may be spotty (many locations only have the Edge network available and or no cell coverage due to the buildings structure).
As such, the inability to mount the iPad as a USB storage device to share content without iTunes severely restricts the device.
Apple, yourself and others chime in and say just install iTunes.
There is a very significant cost in deploying, supporting and maintaining iTunes on all of the workstations that iPad users may (or may not) need to connect to across a large enterprise - security, lifecycle, and deployment planning; QA and Certification the current and future application versions on each of the various workstation models (images) and environments (physical & virtual); deploy the application (tech and push installs); etc.
Is Apple, you or they going to pay for all of this this?
Quite frankly, there is no valid technical reason that the iPad cannot be plugged in and mounted as a generic USB flash drive to enable the sharing or files (other than Apples possible business desire to force us to us iTunes).
Until this is corrected and broad support for SSL VPN is available, we will not seriously consider the iPad for anything but very small well defined installations having a limited business scope.

  • Windows 8 iTunes not allowing "sync" with iPod

New laptop with Windows 8. Downloaded iTunes software. Manage to upload songs from iPod. But after purchasing new music, could not sync back to iPod. The iPod icon is there but the option to "sync" under Devices is grayed out. Any ideas?  Thanks, Yvonne

If you want to use the command in the menu bar
    File -> Devices -> Sync...
you must have your iPod selected in iTunes.  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.  Click on it there to select it.  Then, that command in the menu bar will be enabled.  But it does the same thing as clicking the Sync button at the lower right corner, when you have the iPod selected.
NOTE:  If you do not have the iPod set up to automatically sync your new songs, clicking on Sync will not put them on the iPod.  If you need help in setting up how iTunes syncs your iTunes library to your iPod, please post back.

  • HT201272 iTunes not allowing me to re-download a previous purchase. :(

How can I re-download a previous purchase if I have lost it, and a) iTunes is greying out the "Download" button and b) "Transfer from iPod" is not working? None of Apple Support's answers actually work!

"I found in another discussion a claim that Apple only lets you download a purchase once."
Not true at all.  Your purchases ( all that are available) are in icloud,  You can get them as often as you like.
"But on the page you linked to, it seems to specify that it is possible to download multiple times."
Yes.  This is completely true.  You can donwload them as many times as you like.
"Seems to be at the best bad usability, and at the worst intentionally misleading."
    Nothing misleading at all.

I have a 80gb video ipod that is not restoring or updating on my mac book(black). The ipod, when plugged into my friend's computer, is showing up as a video ipod with the correct software version. When I plug the ipod into my computer iTunes says that the ipod software is too old to update and doesnt display itself as a video ipod. When I plug the ipod into my computer iTunes says that the ipod software is too old to update and doesnt display itself as a video ipod.
hmmmm. that might be associated with a skunky ipoddriver.kext file. perhaps the following documents might be of some assistance:

  • ITunes not allowing iPod to hook up

    Hi.
My laptop had a little problem, so I reinstalled windows, so anyway, I hook up my iPod to my laptop, because the screen says hook up to iTunes, and after I hook it up, iTunes says, "Cannot view (something like that) iPod because theres a pass lock on it, and I did put it on it, and I cant get into my iPod to unlock it, because it says hook up to iTunes. :'(
Is there a way to fix this?
    Zac

    Disconnect.
Shut off iPod. (Hold top and Home buttons and slide...)
Hold and KEEP HOLDING the Home button while plugging in to the computer.
You will be asked to restore, bypassing the passcode.
You will not have any data on the iPod when done - you have to re-sync.

  • TS3354 iTunes not allowing for HD playback of movies.

I have an Alienware m17x with a very highpowered graphics card, more than capable of playing back movies in HD, and iTunes will not let me. I have windows 7 and all the latest software updates on both my computer and iTunes. What the **** apple???

If apple does not have a fix for this, I will be the annoying customer who demands all my money back for the videos I have purchased in HD. I have the necessary equipment.
