Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • How do I recover photos that were NOT backed up from ipod touch 4th generation?

I have a iPod Touch (4TH Genration). It was frozen for two days straight on the apple logo. I kept holding the two keys and tried to connect it to itunes and it wouldn't budge. On the third day I conected it to itunes, and it told me that it nedded to be restored and that my photos would be backed up. Now here I am with a funny acting ipod and NO photos!
Does anyone know how to get photos that were not backed up?

  • Itunes not syncing completely w/ ipod touch

I found that some albums were displaying duplicate songs on my ipod touch, but not in Itunes.  I decided to try removing all music and re-syncing.  Itunes goes through steps of synching, but doesn't take nearly as long as it should to remove all the music.  When I disconnect the ipod touch, some of the music is removed but not all of it.  When I plug it back into my pc, Itunes sees that there is 17 GB of music.  Process repeats.

I may have found the answer.
I checked each of the Apps that needed updating, and they all listed that they needed an iOS version 6 or 7 - higher than the 5.1.1 that my iPod supports.
If this is the issue, it would be nice if there was some message or indication that this was the case.

  • ITunes not syncing music to iPod Touch?

I'm trying to sync some music to my iPod Touch 4G 64GB, but it skips the step after it checks tracks to sync. It's never done this before and I've unchecked, synced and rechecked and synced my music but nothing will transfer. It deleted all of my music I origonally had on it and most of my iTunes U videos, I'm not sure why or what to do.
My iPod is running iOS 6 beta 3

  • ITunes not syncing Apps on iPod Touch

My iPod Touch 3rd generation, model A1318 is running iOS 5.1 (latest for the model I believe).
I have the latest iTunes 11.2.2.3 running on Windows 8.1.1 running on a new computer and it is authorized to the Apple Store.
The apps update fine into iTunes on the computer, but when iTunes syncs to the iPod, only music syncs, the updated apps do not.
iTunes "knows" they are to be updated ("Update" displayed alongside the updated apps) and Automatically install is checked, but during sync, the apps never appear in iTunes progress bar and the apps don't get updated to the iPod.
Apps updated fine on my old XP system, but not on the new Windows 8.1 system.
Any help on this would be much appreciated - it is driving me nuts!

  • ITunes could not back up the iPod because the iPod disconnected

I had and solved a problem similar to the one reported by others: My iPod Touch 5 would not back up to iTunes. I was trying to update the iPod from iOS 8.1.3 to iOS 8.2 using iTunes on my PC and iTunes needed to back up the iPod before installing iOS 8.2. All of the attempts ended with the error message, "iTunes could not back up the iPod 'username' because the iPod disconnected."
I was finally able to update to iOS 8.2 directly from the iPod using wifi rather than through iTunes on my PC but the iPod still would not sync/backup with iTunes. (iTunes version 12.1.1.4 running under Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) SP1.) I tried a soft reset on the iPod; powering down and back up the PC; restarting iTunes; disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod. Nothing helped (I did not turn off my security software). The "Backup now" command and the "Sync" command in iTunes both resulted in the same error message as given above. "Sync via wifi" was NOT checked in iTunes. The backup file in the PC was renamed "Backup-Old," forcing iTunes to start a new file, but that didn't help either.
Finally, I discovered that Backup/Sync DID work if I started the Sync from the iPod using the "Sync Now" command in "iTunes Wi-Fi Sync" under the "General" section of "Settings." After doing a backup once that way, the backup via iTunes worked properly. I don't know why it worked that way but obviously some block has been cleared. This method might be added to the list of "things to try."
    Jeremy

I have the same problem tonight for the first time. I restarted the iPod and my powerbook then used disk utilities to repair disk permissions then tried again. It got stuck on step 4 13 of 13 songs. Each time I try it gets a few more songs over before it freezes. Then I get an error message; Unknown sync error
    0xE800400B.
While it is syncing the "s" on "slide to cancel" on the iPod screen is flashing. Finally iTunes freezes and I have to "force quit".
In previous tries the iPod turned off yet it still appeared on the list of devices in iTunes even after getting the "unknown error" message.

  • Music is not transferring to old iPod Touch from iTunes.

Music is not transferring to old iPod Touch from iTunes.  iTunes recognizes the iPod.  I've gone to File>Devices>Sync and File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.  It shows that it is downloading, but once complete and I go back to check, still not there in either case.
Also, I updated my Windows XP laptop with the new iTunes 11, all the music is there from before and even added a couple more CDs (thought it was all on the laptop).  I turn the laptop off, come back next day, music is all gone and is now found in iCloud.  I didn't want it to be transferred to iCloud, but I must have missed a checked box or something.  Any idea on how to un-iCloud all of that music that should still be on my laptop?  Otherwise, how do I Home Share from iCloud (Windows XP) to iTunes on Windows 7?
As for Home Sharing, it's hit or miss.  I found where you are to hit the Alt button to access Home Sharing on my Windows 7 laptop, it worked 1 time and now I can't find the Home Sharing in the Playlist Section or Music, nothing.  Really?!?!  Come on Apple, can't you do better than that!  I'm getting really frustrated here!  It seems I can only Home Share to my Windows XP laptop, but not vice versa - XP to Windows 7.  Really?!?!
Anyone have any ideas on how I could possibly get this all to work?  Btw, isn't iCloud suppose to automatically download to your iPod anyway?  Well, it doesn't.
    Frustrated!

    Do they play in iTunes?
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Try unsyncing and resyning

  • ITunes not backing up iPod?!?

Wile attempting to backup my iPod touch to iTunes it's telling "iTunes could not back up the iPod '****' because a session could not be started with the iPod" what can I do to fix it?
(My iPod is on 7.1, I have iTunes 11.1.5.5)

    Reference: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2529
iOS: If you can't back up or restore from a backup in iTunes
    Symptoms
When you try to back up your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch or restore from a backup, you may see an alert message in iTunes that your device couldn't be backed up or restored for one of these reasons:
    "... the backup session failed."
"... a session could not be started."
"... the iPhone refused the request."
    "... an error occurred."
"... an unknown error occurred -1."
"... the backup could not be saved on this computer."
"... not enough free space is available."
    Resolution
If you see one of these messages or a different message, follow the steps below. If iTunes for Windows stops responding or the backup never finishes, follow the steps to fix performance issues.
    Copy your backup
Copy a recent backup and save it to your desktop or an external hard drive. You can find your backup in these folders:

Choose Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings.
Try to restore from the backup. You may need to restore from a smaller backup or create a new backup.
    Check your security settings
You may need to update, configure, disable, or uninstall your security software.Back up or restore using a new administrator account
Create a new administrator account on your computer and back up using the new account. Follow these steps for Mac OS X or these steps on the Microsoft website for Windows. If you can back up using a new administrator account, log in using the original user account and follow these steps:
Make sure the account is an administrator.
Check the permissions for the directories where iTunes writes the backup.
Mac: Use Get Info to check the permissions on the MobileSync and Backup directory.
PC: Contact support for your copy of Windows.
See if there is an issue with the original backup:
    Rename the Backups folder.
Open iTunes and try to back up again. Copy your backup before using iTunes Preferences > Devices to delete your backup.
    Reset the Lockdown folder
If you can't back up as a new user, try to reset the Lockdown folder. If you reset the Lockdown folder, you may be able to start or save your backup.
Unplug all iOS devices from your computer and quit iTunes.
    Reset the Lockdown folder.
    Plug in your iOS device.
Open iTunes and try to back up.
