Itunes not completing sync with Iphone 4! Help!!!

Have an HP laptop running Windows 7. Using Itunes to sync Iphone 4.
Last week I connected the Iphone 4 to computer and Itunes updated my phone to IOS 4.3.5.
After the update to the Iphone 4, Itunes started syncing with my phone. Now, it gets to step 5 and says 'optimizing 44 of 46' then I get the message 'Itunes has stopped working'. I have uninstalled Itunes and Quicktime and am still getting the same problem.
Can anyone help?
Thank you!

OK, Doughboy, i didn't get much help on here, but I may have found a solution!
IF you are having the same situation I've been having, then this should work, it did for me.
I had my Iphone 4 updated current and Itunes was the latest version. BUT when I plugged in my Iphone to sync it with Itunes, it got all the way to step 5 of 5 and, during 'Optimizing', Itunes stopped working.
Here's what I did: The first thing is to copy your current pictures to a new folder on your computer. If they are in Libraries>Pictures>MyPictures, create a new folder (I named it Pictures 2, so it was now located in Libraries>Pictures>Pictures 2). Then copy the pics to the new folder.
I then plugged in Iphone 4 to my computer. Itunes starts up automatically. When my Iphone shows up on the left side of Itunes, i clicked on it and then clicked on the photos tab in the upper right area. Uncheck the 'Sync photos from' box, then check the 'Sync photos from' box again and then clicked on the drop down box to the right of 'Sync Photos from' and clicked on 'choose folder'. I then selected the new pictures folder (in my case 'pictures 2'). Then you click 'apply' in the bottom right corner, then 'sync'. It worked perfectly for me!!! Good luck!!!

  • ITunes won't complete sync with iPhone or iPad....freezes at contacts

Using iTunes 10.5.3.3 on a Windows 7 OS to sync my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (both with OS 5.0.1). This is my 3rd iPhone and 2nd iPad, so I'm not new to this. No problems until a few days ago. Now, both devices sit at the syncing contacts screen, and won't ever finish.
    Here's what I've tried:
obviously, restarting iTunes (as well as PC)
    restarting devices
    deleting backups
    resetting sync history
replacing contacts & calendar on next sync
(PC is up-to-date with Windows Update)
Still the same. Not only will it not complete sync, but the calendar entires are all duplicated+++ now on the devices, when they are still correct entries in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
This is SOOOOO frustrating. Besides wiping devices and starting again (which I don't really want to do), anyone have any suggestions?

Is your phone hacked? Have you tried restarting your computer and your iPhone? I have found that a majority of problems that happen with iPhone can be solved with a simple reset.
For iPhone to iTunes, you can refer to this page about [iPhone/iPod/iPad to computer or iTunes|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/IPod/iPhone/iPadTo_Computer_Transfer_%26_Backup_SoftwareReviews].
It includes the transferring of music, photos, videos, SMS, Contact ect. between iPod/iPhone/iPad and computer(PC or Mac).

  • IPhone will not complete sync...please help!

I'm trying to help a client with his iPhone woes, every time I sync with his computer, I get the follwing error (or one similar to it):
AppleMobileSync.exe|1984:17849760|/SourceCache/DeviceLinkX/DeviceLinkX-91.2/Wire Protocol/DeviceLinkConnection.c:_DLMainThreadMessagePortCallback| ERROR: Error creating components from read data: 'Conversion of data failed. The file is not UTF-8, or in the encoding specified in XML header if XML.'
This error comes up either when I'm syncing his photos or his contacts.
I've cleared the sync history a number of times, but this issue always comes back to bite me. This is on a Sony Vaio running Windows XP SP2 with Microsoft Outlook 2003. Any help is apprecitated!

I would uninstall and reinstall all components listed in the following article:

    Different USB port?
    Different iPod cable (if possible)
Reboot the computer and open iTunes before plugging in the iPhone?

  • ITunes library and syncing with iPhone 3GS trouble

I have an iPhone 3GS. When I got to update to iOS 4.3 from the latest 4.2 update I either get am error saying that the file was corrupt or sometimes I get an error saying that my firmware is not compatible. Also, when I just try to sync to iTunes I get an unknown error saying that I cannot finish syncing with iTunes; which has caused my apps to not sync back to my phone and my photos as well. Last night after the latter error I just disconnected my phone and went to bed but I also discovered that my phone has a fraction of the apps that it did have on it. I did not get a chance to check if my apps has all synced back to iTunes at least. And another issue is that lately iTunes has been having issues with the library and keeps creating a damaged.xml. Help, please!!

try removing all the music and snycing it back to your iphone

  • ITunes freezes when syncing with iPhone, but works fine with iPod?

It's a bit of a long story with my iPhone/iTunes problem. In late July, my iPhone stopped syncing properly. It's an iPhone 4. Basically, I tried to add more photo albums to sync onto my phone, something I have done before. It began syncing, then notified me that it couldn't sync 'x' amount of photos. It was a pop up on my phone screen. I tried deleting my cache in My Pictures, still errors. Then it seems like everything possible has just glitched when I sync as weeks went on. It wouldn't sync music. The songs would appear gray and failed to play. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it doesn't. Now, iTunes freezes when it reaches the end of the sync and I have to ctrl+alt+del to close iTunes as it stops working.
I took my iPhone to apple, and she ran diagnostics and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. She told me she couldn't run diagnostics on my iTunes because it's a Windows laptop and she's "not trained to work with them". She said everything seemed fine with my iPhone and asked if it was possible if I have a virus. I've had no other problems with my laptop whatsoever and I have a decent virus protector that we pay for monthly.
I have tried restoring my phone twice, with a backup. I tried again WITHOUT a backup, and still, it freezes when it syncs, some songs are gray on my iPhone and won't play, and photos refuse to sync, period.
I then tried syncing my dad's iPod with my iTunes, and it worked. I also tried syncing my iPhone on my dad's laptop, and it worked. So something is clearly glitching between specifically my phone and my iTunes. I'm avoiding uninstalling iTunes at all costs because I don't want to lose play count information as the majority of my playlists are created this way. I thought iOs 7 or iTunes 11 (now 11.1) would fix it, but neither did.
Can anyone determine what the problem could be and how to fix it?

the same thing is happening with me. itunes will freeze and then it wont put songs on my ipod.
im starting to get upset since i just went out and bought a new ipod. thinking that was the problem.
    PLEASE HELP!!!

  • Itunes not in sync with Ibooks

    Hi All,
Since Mavericks, the books synchronization system has changed.
As far as I understood, Ibooks is supposed to take care of all the collection and synchronize purchased books to all devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.).
Note that iBooks does not contain only Apple-purchased books, but imported items (free, purchased from a 3rd party, private PDF, etc.).
Concerning these other books , iTunes is supposed to take care of the synchronisation through the same old iTunes tab.
Here is my issue: I would expect that iTunes lists all my books, iBooks-purchased AS WELL AS imported items, allowing to sync them all or only selected ones.
But it seems that iTunes totally lost synchronization with my library. It does not show newly imported files. It still show old deleted imported files, but without cover.
Is it only me or is it a total mess ?
Maybe my iTunes library or cache is totally broken. Any suggestion on how I could restore it ?
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards.

  • ITunes 64bit prompts to "Install iTunes 64bit" to sync with iPhone

I have downloaded and installed iTunes 10.2.2.12 64bit on Win7 64. When I connect my iPhone 3Gs, iTunes prompts me to "Install iTunes 64bit, your iPhone cannot sync with this version of iTunes."

    Okay. That's our problem then.
I'd like to try doing a "Standalone" Apple Mobile Device Support install. It may not install and/or work properly, but the error messages we get then might help narrow in on the causes of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunes64setup.exe installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunes64Setup.exe, and select "Extract to iTunes64Setup\". WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunes64Setup".
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi. If it asks you to repair or Remove, click "Repair". Watch the install like a hawk.
Do you get any error messages? If so what do they say? (Precise text please.)
Or does it install for you? If so, can you connect the iPhone successfully now?

  • My itunes no longer syncs with iphone 5 yet works with my ipod

My iPhone has always synced with iTunes no problem. I set my Ipod up on the same iTunes no problem. However, since upgrading my phone to the latest iOS I have been unable to update my music. I can select the music I want, click sync and although it appears to be syncing, no updates happen on my phone apart from it updates my contacts?!

    Hello Nash_x91x,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing when syncing music to your iPhone 5.  I recommend resyncing the music to your iPhone for the issue you described.
If you are syncing automatically, resync content to the iPhone by unchecking "Sync Music" and click "Apply."  Then check "Sync Music" and click "Apply" again.  If you do not want to sync your entire library, be sure to select "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres" and select the content you want to sync:
If you sync manually, delete the music when your iPhone is selected in iTunes and drag new content to your iPhone.
You can find the syncing steps in the following article:

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • ITunes crashing during sync with iPhone 4

i can't figure it out. sometime i can get it to sync, sometimes not. been working with this for two days now. i've got a fresh itunes, fresh snow leopard, fresh iphone restore. everything has been re-done, but when i sync with itunes, it crashing in the middle of the sync. if i stop the sync, then change a setting like sync no music, or sync podcasts, it doesnt crash, but on a normal autosync i get a crash. anyone got any ideas?

after much trial and error i have discovered that the problem lies in the iphoto sync portion. i'm still not sure why, but disabling it appears to solve the issue. not how to i get my photos back on it?

  • Why is iMessage not in sync with iPhone 4?

I was using the iMessage beta on OSX 10.7 for my iMAC (21.5-inch: 2.5GHz) with no issues and then upgraded to Mountain Lion. My iMessages on my MAC is no longer in sync with the Messages in my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1), (all messages are sent from my iPhone). Messages is always up to date on my iPhone but the only messages that show on my iMAC are the ones before the Mountain Lion upgrade. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    That is correct.
Those iMessages sent from the Apple ID using Messages on an iOS device or a Mac should sync across all those devices.
For instance I send a set of Pics from my Mac to my Apple ID so it goes to my iPhone will also show those Sync'ed back as "received" by the same Apple ID
    Uploaded with Skitch!
It did seem in the Messages beta that you had to clear all existing Messages off the iOS device before it would sync to the Apple ID.
(As if the Messages app on the iPhone and the Messages app on the Mac were "Starting" from the "same place").
There have been suggestions that getting the iPhone to make a break with the server such as switching the iPhone Off then On again will allow it to Sync all exiting Messages when it reconnects.
The iPhone does need to be set to the Apple ID for the iMessages it sends to sync tgo the Mac or any other iOS device.

  • ITune not in sync with outlook...

Hi every one...my firts post here in this forum..
I just got my first ipod (5thG 30gig)and have the latest iTunes installed(v.7.0.2.16)with OS Windows XP SP2.
When i try and sync my contacts and calender from outlook iTunes keeps crashing saying it's encountered a problem and must quit.... I can still use iTunes to load music etc. but as soon as i tic the box for sync with outlook it crashes...
Is there anyone else with the same problem...and more importenly....is there a solution??
I've downloaded "ipodsync" trial version so i do have all the info on my ipod, trial runs out shortly and will need to use iTunes to sync my calender etc. I could buy the product but it would seem uneccesary since iTune is "allegedly" capable of doing the job.
    Please help...!!!!!

I think I may have solved this problem by making sure I don't have conflicts in my Outlook Calendar.
To find conflicts, open Outlook and view your Calendar and set the view to "Active Appointments" (list of current calendar entries) and check that the list doesn't include entries with warnings (a red icon is shown beside the appointment I think). Fix the conflicts and then the Calendar sync might start to work.
I had the same problem as you and then I started experimenting with Outlook macros for exporting in bulk the Calendar. When running my macro against Calendar entries, I came across an error message while debugging that made me clue-in on this problem.
