ITunes not copying Album Artwork to iPod

I have iTunes set up so that it automatically downloads missing album artwork, and it does download, but when sync the iPod, the album artwork is not synced—I have to copy and paste it.
Is this a bug?
Thanks.

Hard to say. Which of the dozen or so different iPods do you have?
When you select the Music tab for your iPod in iTunes, did you check this box at the bottom of the window?

  • ITunes not finding album artwork

I'm getting a bit sick of this - why does iTunes not find any album artwork any more, yet it recognises the album & finds all the tracks? This seems to be a constant problem on this forum - anyone have any ideas...? I have iTunes 11 & a desktop intel Mac, OS X 10.7.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to upgrade to 8.2.
Make sure that the *Album Artist* and Artist of your album matches up with what's in the iTunes Store EXCEPT if the artist has an ampersand (&) in it. Then put in everything up until the space before the ampersand. (You're free to edit the info after you've gotten the correctly downloaded artwork.) In some cases you may not get the correct artwork no matter how you match the data.

  • Restore button unavailable, iTunes not copying any music to ipod since 7.3

I don't know if it is related to my problems, but I just updated to iTunes 7.3 via software update. I synced my iPod for the first time yesterday. When I went to browse the music on the iPod, it showed that there were no items listed under Playlist, music, artist, song, etc... The ipod has all of my photos, calendars, and contacts on it, but no music. iTunes is telling me that the ipod has my entire library on it along with playlists. When I go to about on the ipod itself, it says that I have 6 GB of music on there, but I am unable to play it. I have tried restoring on a different computer, restoring with windows and then restoring with a mac to make sure that everything is wiped off, but no matter what, my computer isn't letting me put music on this ipod. Any ideas?

    I'll give you other alternatives:

  • ITunes not downloading album artwork

I recently bought 3 cd's and imported them into iTunes. Whenever I try to right click on the album and get it's artwork it does nothing. The albums are "Way to Normal" by Ben Folds, "Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart" by Rachael Yamagata and "The Glass Passenger" by Jack's Mannequin. All three albums are in the US iTunes store so that shouldn't be the problem. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? And yes, I know I can drag the picture in from somewhere else but I don't like that it takes up space on my harddrive. Anyone have any suggestions?

There certainly are mysteries involved in iTunes looking up artwork on the Store.
Is it possible that iTunes can't find the artwork, but you've turned off that warning message? If so, you can turn it back on (and all the other ones, unfortunately).
iTunes Preferences, Advanced panel, Reset all dialog warnings.
Then at least you might get something more illuminating than stony silence
    Good luck!
BTW -- artwork takes up hard disk space whether it's downloaded by iTunes or pasted in from somewhere else. Pasting from somewhere else takes a bit more space, since the artwork is copied into every song file rather than just kept once in the Library file. Even so, it's a fraction of 1% of the total space.

I am having to recreate my itunes library and do not understand why prior album artwork appeared in my older library but not the new library?  Is there some way to scan itunes for missing album artwork?

do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it  --  and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

I've decided that the easiest thing to do now would be to NOT display album artwork on my iPod. How do I set my iPod to NOT display album art? I've checked the User manual and that doesn't help.

Why don't you, instead of taking time to do that, just backup, and then restore your iPod?
    Just a suggestion..

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

This problem does seem pretty random, affecting just a small number of tracks. Apparently it is due to some file corruption or something... Anyway, this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2654317?start=15&tstart=0 has a couple of solutions spelled out. Basically the same thing that a-monk-at-large suggested above. (Delete and redownload the offending tracks.)

I have synced my iPhone 5s via iTunes however, my album artwork is not appearing on my phone. Please help

    Hi
Typically these are added toy our iPhone by synching with iTunes and that is the only way to "unsych" them.
In your Itunes tab for photos you can uncheck the albums you do not wanted synced to your iPhone.  Then resynch your computer and your iPhone and they will not be added to your iPhone.
    Cheers

  • ITunes Match not matching the songs, not uploading album artwork

In the past few months I started having problems with the ITM.  Whenever I add a new song to iTunes and subsequently add it to ITM, the program seems to get stuck on the 3 step and reboots. As a result I am unable to add new songs to my iPhone because they are not in ITM.  I also noticed that not all album artwork has been added to the iTunes and ITM.  I have read other discussions and I know that I am not the only one having these issues.  This is a very convenient service and I would like to continue to use it, however if Apple does not do anything about it, then I'll have to cancell my subscription.

While we're at it can anyone convince me itunes match is a good idea?? From what I've read from others it doesn't have that much going for it other than being a itunes back up........ I've got an external HDD for that so think I should have saved my money
That's exactly what it isn't, you should not use iTunes match as a back up. If titles are removed from the store you will no longer be able to download them. iTunes match works perfectly well for me as intended, that's with my library on my Mac backed up to an external HD and accessible via iTunes match on every other device I have.
As for your setting up issue, what do you mean by stopping and starting, are you turning iTunes match off when you do this.

  • Blank Album Artwork on ipod 16gb touch

I have a random problem with the artwork for a album not showing on the ipod and the artwork shows in itunes. A black square shows on the ipod. It happens with albums downloaded from the itunes store and imported cd's. It seems to be random, and will change dependent the order of the albums. I tried removing a album from the ipod then adding it back again. The artwork will show then but disapear later. If I import another cd it will show but another album's artwork will go black. Called Apple and they where clueless on the issue and said exchange it for a new one. I think I might be wasting my time. Has anybody else had this problem?????? if so how did or did you resolve this issue

I also had all kinds of weird things going on with my artwork at first. What I did was make sure that each song of an album has the artwork attached. Go to ITUNES and select Album View. Then make sure under View (in the menu bar) that you have the Show Artwork selected. If you do you should be able to see a Now Playing box in the bottom left corner of ITUNES. Now If you go to play a song and the artwork is NOT in the Now Playing box you know you will have problems once you sync to your Ipod Touch.
What I did was note each album on my Ipod Touch, that I knew I had Artwork issues. Then I went to ITUNES and sorted by Album. I made sure I found at least one song on each album that did not appear to have album art on my Ipod with artwork in ITUNES. Then started playing the song in ITUNES just so the Artwork would show up in the now playing box. Then I would right click on the now playing box and select copy. Then finally I would highlight all the songs for the Album in question, and right click on any one of them. Once you do that you will see a Multiple Item Information box with an Artwork box and a small box next to it. Click the small box (this places a check in it) next to the Artwork box and then right click inside the Artwork box and select Paste. NOw all your songs in that album should have the same Artwork.
I found most of my problems were from CD's I ripped to ITUNES from my own collection that I had to manually add the artwork. I didn't know what I was doing and would attach the artwork to only the first song. All the albums I purchased from the Itunes store seemed work just fine.
At any rate, I encourage you to check the songs in Itunes on albums not showing Artwork on your Ipod, and I think you will see you have missing artwork (ie. no artwork showing in the Now Playing box). Once you get your all your artwork squared away in Itunes all you have to do is sync and your Ipod.
I still find missing artwork from time to time and always find that it is because for whatever reason it isn't attached to each song in an album in my ITUNES.
    Good luck.

  • How do i copy album artwork to all the songs in an album

How do i copy album artwork to all the songs in an album as some of the songs do not have the artwork, as with the previous version of itunes you had to load artwork individually.
I have tried the copy and paste option and that does not work
Look forward to hearing from you

"How do i copy album artwork to all the songs in an album as some of the songs do not have the artwork, as with the previous version of itunes you had to load artwork individually."
That suggests some underlying issue, as iTunes has always (AFAIR) allowed artwork to be assigned with multiple tracks in a single action.  For an album, right-click on the album, select Get Info, select the Artwork tab.  You then have three options:
If the artwork image exists as a file, click the Get Artwork button, browse to and select the file, then click Open.
Drag and drop the image file from Windows Explorer to the Artwork tab (previous releases also allowed drag and drop from a web browser, this functionality is missing - either by design or as the result of a bug - in iTunes 12).
If you've copied the artwork image to the clipboard, press Ctrl-V on the keyboard to paste in the image (prior to the 1st release of iTunes 12 this could also be done using right-click > Paste - hopefully this will be restored as a bug-fix in the next update)
"I have tried the copy and paste option and that does not work."
There are three possible causes for this:
The format of your media files doesn't support embedded artwork - specifically, uncompressed audio in WAV format.  You'll need to convert to Apple Lossless (without loss of quality) or either MP3 or AAC (if you're OK with lossy media) before artwork images can be associated with your media.
Windows' permissions are preventing your media files from being updated when iTunes attempts to embed the images (in a perfect world iTunes should report this as an error, but it actually does nothing).  To check this, find the folder that contains media of interest in Windows Explorer (by default this will be C:\Users\user_name\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\artist_name\album_name), right-click and select Properties, Security tab - check that your Windows user account has full control over the folder.
The media files that you're trying to add artwork to may be set to read-only in Windows. Select the folder as before in Windows Explorer, right-click > Properties and make sure that the Read-only flag is cleared.
