ITunes not fully installed - quicktime problem

Okay, this is driving me nuts. I attempted to upgrade itunes. When it was installing I got the error message "old verison of quick time cannot be removed" I tired installing the upgrade of quick time and got the same message. I also tried to reload my origional verision of itunes, rerun the upgrade and still got the same message. I have a dell inspiron 8200 with windows xp. Can someone help, in plan simple language, since I am not a computer person? Thanks

Yes
In that case, let's try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now launch Windows Installer CleanUp ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"), find any QuickTime entries in the list of programs in CleanUp, select those QuickTime entries, and click “remove”.
Next, we'll manually remove any leftover QuickTime program files:
(1) Open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on.
(2) Open the Program Files folder.
(3) Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion.
(4) Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue.
(5) Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin.
(6) Restart your computer.
Now try another iTunes 7.5 update. Does it go through properly?

  • Get error message that says, "ITunes not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CD's, you must reinstall Itunes."

    Hello:
I have installed Itunes on my new Windows 7 based computer (64 bit) and get the following error message everytime the program opens, "ITunes not properly installed.  If you wish to import or burn CD's, you must reinstall ITunes."  So, I have removed ITunes, Quick Time and Apple associated software, twice, from my computer and reinstalled the latest version (10.4.1) but get no fix to the problem.  ITunes will import CD's but will not burn them with this error in place.  Anybody know how to fix this problem?

if you have 64bit os this is problem:
Any 64-bit version of Windows is not supported so you should expect certain things not to work. From Apple's iTunes page the Windows requirements are:
32-bit editions of Windows XP or Vista
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later required for Apple TV or iPhone
500 MHz Pentium class processor or better
    QuickTime 7.1.6 or later (included)
    256MB RAM
Supported CD-R or DVD-R drive to burn CDs
Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN) for buying and streaming music

After downloading and installing the full version of the printer driver (both from on-line site AND from purchased driver CD), the software appears to download fine, but will not fully install.  I have run Print and Scan Doctor and tried on-line support, uninstalling, reinstalling the drivers and have tried on-line HP support.  My new computer (HP Envy 715 xt) is less than 3 weeks old.  I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  The printer/scanner/copier/fax worked fine on my old computer which ran Windows XP.  I have tried everything - HP on-line support will not speak to me without charging me, even though my computer is brand new - they insist the problem is with the printer, which is out of warranty.

  • Itunes 7 fails to install - QuickTime problem.

I successfully used an earlier Itunes with an Ipod 1GB Nano. My new 2GB Nano (courtesy of Netgear promotion!) demanded V7 which I downloaded and tried to install. There were many errors installing Quicktime, but one was
    "Could not open key HKEYLOCALMACHINES\software\classes\QuickTimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApp\CLSID"
Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel"
I accessed myself (8-)# I tried running regedit, but that key and all the other "QuickTime" "software/classes/" keys gave the same error. I tried right clicking to set permissions, but although the list comes up, I cannot enable any of them.
I even tried safe mode, but all those entries are give similar errors. I have now deleted all references to "QuickTime" in the registry except the inaccessible ones, and the "Program Files" directory, but installation gives the same errors.
The result is that Itunes will not install, and I am unable to use my new Ipod.
A Google search finds no-one with similar problems.
    Any ideas?

I am answering this blind as I did not realise I would not have access to the previous posting! Thanks for responding.
There is no version number of the installer under properties, but it says "V7" when run, and was downloaded earlier today (38,808,256 bytes) from the Apple site (as linked to by my then presumably working Itunes).
I see exactly my problem is in http://forums.vnunet.com/thread.jspa?threadID=93546&tstart=0
    and unresolved.
I rolled back Windows to yesterday (and then the day before), and now find I cannot even uninstall either Quicktime or Itunes. The "Add or Remove programs" utility starts its progress bar and then quits with no report. I tried a re-install of the only previous installation of Itunes and it reported "You have a later version of Itunes installed" (meaning presumably V7) The Itunes I have on disk will not run "Files missing". This I suppose must be due to the failed installation of V7, which System Restore has failed to undo.
I tried then the V7 install again, and got:
"QuickTime failed to install Error #-2903"
    and later
    "Error 1905 c:\Program Files\Quicktime\QTOControl.dll
    Hresult -2147220472"
... and then followed by three or four registry errors in HKEYLOCALMACHINES\SOFTWARE\Classes\ including the one I started this thread with. All these registry items are inaccesible under regedit ("Error opening key").
I am now in a position that I cannot go back or forward and still cannot link my IPOD to Itunes.
Is Itunes the only program that can transfer music?
It seems that one cannot simply copy, as firstly there is no "music" folder, and when it is done in a kosher way, the filenames are changed to an internal format, with the real names in a database.
It looks like Apple are managing to stop loads of other people using their new IPODs. I would ask for my money back if it wasn't a gift from Netgear (8-)#

  • Can not "fully install" Quick Time on Windows Media Edition

My HP Pavillion 8000, operating on Windows Media Center, came preloaded with i tunes and Quick Time. I was initially able to use ArcSoft's multimedia e-mail program (also preloaded) and the SAVE AS feature of this program and save e-mails in Quick Time's (.mov) format (the other option is to save in the (.exe) format, which is NOT deliverable by hotmail - another sad story...)After a while, without me doing anything specific, this feature QUIT WORKING. Every time I try to save as "Quick Time (.mov) format" I get an error message stating: "you must first fully install Quick Time before you are able to perform this action". I thought upgrating to Pro might solve this problem, it did not, total waste of money. I uninstalled and reinstalled both Quick Time and Arc Soft's Multimedia e-mail, no luck. I cleaned out my registry (based on advise in this forum), and re-installed, no luck. Any suggestions? If not for the specific problem, any other good multimedia e-mail package that can save in formats deliverable by hotmail?

Thank you very much Jacumba, but I have managed to get it installed now, I do not know what really happened but all is well now..  Thank you again for taking the time to want to help me out.  Have great day!

  • How do I tell iTunes not to install on sync apps that I downloaded?

I upgraded my SSD on my Mac and I thought I'd download all my apps so they were backed up on my computer. However, now iTunes tries to install them all on my iPhone whenever I try to sync it. I don't have nearly enough space on my iPhone so I always get a bunch of "ghost" apps and an error message that my iPhone is out of space every time I sync. How do I tell iTunes not to attempt to install these on my iPhone on sync? The only options to choose from are "Install" and "Will Install".
    Thanks.
    I have OS X 10.9.3, iTunes 11.2.2 (3), and iOS 7.1.1.

The easiest way is to simply remove the previous apps from your account, then sync all your apps. You can remove unwanted apps via iTunes. If you want a step by step instructions go to: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-delete-unwanted-ios-apps-from-itunes/

  • CS5 InDesign not fully installed?

My Mac laptop was recently wiped and I have had to reinstalled my CS5 Adobe Suite. It seems that InDesign has not installed properly. I have no toolbar, I do have have the correct 'plug ins' and things like my hyphonation tools has not been installed into the system. Is there any troubleshoot link that can fix it? Or will I need to install it again? Illustrator is working just fine.

Sounds like it might be two separate problems.
Missing toolbars could be several things: Panels and Toolbars are hidden, but in this mode the menu bar should still be there (press the Tab key) or Presentation mode, which shows only the page against a black background (press Esc), possibly a corrupt worspace, which can't be fixed inside ID if you don't have menus, so you'd need to find the Workspaces folder in your user library or user profile (you haven't mentioned the OS) and delete the CurrentWorkspace.xml files, or possibly your preferences are damaged, so See Replace Your Preferences
Missing plugin warnings when opening a file are usually caused by trying to open a file sved in a newer version than the one you are using. Are specific plugins mentioned?
Also if you've just installed, you'll need to run the program updates. You can find those on Adobe.com under downloads.

  • ITunes will not fully install, it says i need bonjour permission (windows 7 64 bit)

I recently got my new desktop computer. It is an hp pavilion with Windows 7 64 bit operating system. I began adding on the programs i wanted on my computer after starting it up a few days ago and found that everytime i try to download iTunes (64 bit) for windows it makes it through almost the whole process before it tell sme there was an error with ProgramFIles(x86) Bonjour mDNSResponder and something about how i may require permissions, i have gone on many websites trying to find the solution to my problem. I found out how to change the permissions on programs but when i try to do that to Bonjour it tells me i dont have the proper permissions to even get into the security settings. Please Help, i have been without a computer for several months which has gotten in the way of my iPod updating and all around music/movie enjoyment

everytime i try to download iTunes (64 bit) for windows it makes it through almost the whole process before it tell sme there was an error with ProgramFIles(x86) Bonjour mDNSResponder and something about how i may require permissions
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • ITunes not properly installed error...

    Hi,
I'm running iTunes version 7.0.2.16. Yesterday when I booted iTunes it told me that it was not installed properly and it will not be able to rip or burn CD's... This is the first time this has ever happened and I've had iTunes installed on this computer for a while...
I have Windows XP Media Center.
    My Quicktime version is 7.1.3.
Do I really need to reinstall iTunes? If so, is there any way to keep my playlists, etc. without having to lose them and start over?
Thanks so much for any input.
    Scott

I don't think this one is a variation of the device filter troubles, Littlebirt.
    Checking something from the diagnostics:
+Virtual drives can sometimes interfere with reading and writing CDs in iTunes. If this is a virtual drive and you are having problems with other drives, try uninstalling the virtual CD application.+
Is there any virtual drive software (like, say, Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%) installed on the PC?

    Have you tried this:
Perform a Thorough & Complete Uninstall and Reinstall of iTunes/QuickTime
(Compiled from the collective wisdom of toonz and Da Gopha)
If you want to guarantee a successful upgrade and be proactive about minimizing potential install issues, do the following:
    1. Completely Backup your music and iTunes library files.
    2. Virus check / spyware scan your machine.
    3. Completely remove / uninstall the current version of iTunes and QuickTime from your system.....
3a. – Do a Stepwise clean uninstallation of iTunes
3b. - Then download and install the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility
.....And make sure iTunes is really gone.
    4. Delete the contents of your temp folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp
    5. Reboot the PC
    6. Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
    7. Start with the QuickTime standalone installer run from the PC (not directly from on-line)
    8. Reboot the PC
    9. Turn off all security software such as Norton, McAfee, SpySweepers, any TSRs, etc. (exit via the system tray)
    10. First completely download, then run the latest iTunes Installer from your PC
    11. Reboot the PC
The majority of problems out there on the discussion boards are caused by viruses or other system corruption — sometimes self-inflicted by the user (i.e. - people who turn off necessary Windows services) — or out of date drivers.
