Itunes not importing songs from CD correctly

Using the 'import cd' button - itunes appears to import the music but when i click to play a song - nothing happens! It seems that i only have the song titles. There are no 'rights' or 'CD player' issues as the CD's can be imported quite happily onto someone elses itunes and I can play the CD's using Windows media player - so this definitely seems to be an itunes issue. I am on the latest 7.0 version
Any suggestions please!??

Issues were related to autoplay being disabled in Windows. To me, this is an issue that iTunes needs to fix. Autoplay shouldn't be a requirement in order to have cd importing work smoothly.

  • Had to reinstall OS and Itunes..Will not import songs from library folder

I reinstalled my Windows 7 OS and Installed Itunes 10.6 but when I add my ipodmusic folder to the library it does not import the songs into the library. I tries dragging and dropping a few songs but it deletes them from the folder.
    Any ideas?

I think I'm having the same problem. This is what I get when I try to import songs:
The iPod “Ian” is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this I Pod with those from this library?
    Yes No
What is this about? My buddy accidentally hit yes, and lost all of the songs on his iPod. I simply want to update my iPod with new material. This new material was obtained while using a different computer than what I originally used when I first got my iPod. Does anyone know how I can get music from a new computer on my iPod

  • Itunes 8 will not import songs from audio CD

I have windows Vista and a brand new Dell computer. I installed the latest version of Itunes 8. Itunes recognizes the CD, gets the gracenotes and track names but as soon as I hit the import CD button ITunes freezes and stops responding. Diagnostics show no problem. Windows Media center has no problem "ripping" songs from the CD so there is no permission problem. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and get the same problem. HELP

depending on personal preference it's best to rip through windows media player. itunes searches the my music folder (where all riped windows media goes)and updates from there anyway. and that way if i tunes crashes for any reason you still have a back up of the songs. you can also update from windows media by clicking "add folder to library" and selecting the folder out of the my music sectoion. your only other bet is to backup any music currently on itunes, uninstall then re-install.

  • ITunes not playing songs from iCloud in Match

I keep 50% of my music library on an external HD. I subscribed to iTunes Match to be able to access my entire library when my HD isn't available (traveling, HD in sleep mode, etc.). But iTunes won't play any songs that are stored on my external HD when the HD isn't available, even when the songs were purchased on iTunes, and even when iTunes has matched them and shows them as "purchased." When I try to play the song, iTunes says the external HD isn't available, and offers to allow me to locate the song (which is impossible because I'm not near the external HD). Why won't it use the copy that's stored in iCloud? Isn't this the whole point of iCloud, i.e., to allow me to stream my music library from anywhere?
I have an active internet connection, and I've already updated Match and turned it off an on again. But iTunes won't play any of my songs from iCloud; only from my Macbook hard drive, which certainly isn't the point of Match.

Sorry Michael, but while this may not be considered a bug technically, it's REALLY poor design.  I have the same issue - I have too much music to store on my computer, so I store it on an external drive.  How does Apple expect people to figure out how to adjust for this "design"??  I'm an experienced mac user of over 20 years, and I didn't understand what was going on (aside from my external drive not being connected).  New iTunes/iCloud users are definitely not going to understand.  Saying this is simply how it's supposed to work is not acceptable.  Frankly, Apple has totally messed up their iCloud implementation - it's SO convoluted, especially if you have any iDevices.
For this issue, Apple really needs to change iTunes so that it's smart enough to stream music to a temp directory (and then have a setting in the Options in which you can empty it manually or according to a schedule, exiting iTunes, etc.), or at the very least, allow you to set up mulltiple libraries (which you can do manually, but iTunes doesn't track them at the same time).

  • ITunes does not import songs from CD

When I tried to import mp3 formatted songs into itunes, i get the following message: +An error occurred while trying to import the file "Track 1." The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for this file.+ This has never happened before. How do I fix this?

I just connected a new external cd/dvd drive and am having the same problem. Is your player working now, and if so what did you do to resolve the problem?
    Thanks!

  • My itunes will not import songs from a cd. When i put the cd in usually itunes recognizes it and starts importing them but now it doesn't do anything. How can i get it to import cds again?!

    please help

See if it will import a CD using Windows Media Player.
That will tell us if it is a system problem with the whole PC, or just a problem with itunes.

  • ITunes not delete songs from your hard drive while they're playing?

So, if I delete a song, it says "would you like to keep this file or delete it?" And I always want to delete it; I can't even imagine why I would want to keep files I'm deleting.
However, if you are playing a song at the time, or if you're listening to a podcast and it has finished playing, if you try to delete them, it will not delete the file even if you tell it to.
Is there a setting around this or is iTunes just as stupid as I think?
i.e. Is the only solution after you finish listening to a podcast to play some other random file and then delete it?
This became infinitely more annoying after iTunes decided that videos should automatically be played in the window instead of a new window, since now I have to make sure I'm picking another random file that ISN'T a video so I can actually see the original file and delete it.

I often want to remove files from my iTunes library, but keep them on my harddrive. That's why iTunes asks you if you want to delete it. Holding control down when you hit delete will at least get rid of the first dialogue box.
If you are trying to delete a song that is playing, it won't delete it because it is in use.
I assume the same is happening on your machine with podcasts. Your system thinks the files is still in use, so can not delete it.

  • Totally lost with iTunes 11 . . . . can't import songs from my Mac etc.?

I upgraded to Mountain Lion a couple of months ago and have just opened iTunes 11.
I seem to have a handful of items there but cannot remember installing them.
I have tried importing tunes from my computer by going to File>Add to Library and also dragging and dropping but nothing seems to happen.
I have also read that you can get the old iTunes look back by clicking the button at the top left of the interface and selecting as appropriate but the only button seems to be the one labeled "Music" by default which has nothing useful underneath it.
These are 3 of the rather useless layouts I can access.
Is there something wrong with my iTunes installation or what am I doing wrong?

It appears that one of the reasons I could not import songs is because iTunes 11 only seems to recognise .mp3 or .aac
I had been trying to import .caf and .aif
The old version used to recognise most audio file types and would also convert mot types to another ........... so long as they were .mp3, .aif or .caf

  • When I try to import songs from a CD into iTunes it can't find the titles online.  This wasn't a problem previously, now it is.  There is nothing wrong with my internet.  Any solutions?  Help says try again later but no luck there.

When I try to import songs from a CD into iTunes it can't find the titles online.  This wasn't a problem previously, now it is.  There is nothing wrong with my internet connection.  Any solutions?  Help says to try again later but no luck there.  I've tried multiple times with multiple CDs.

To answer the post title FireFox save all downloads automatically in the download folder, which you can find in the Documents folder. If you want to choose where to save your downloads go to tools>options>check always ask me where to save files.
Secondly, I am assuming you have IE 8 installed as this is the only version that supports this fix that is currently not in beta. Go to control panel>internet options>advanced tab and reset the settings at the bottom. This may or may not fix the problem but it is a good first step.

  • Garageband wont import song from iTunes

Hi,  I've imported songs from iTunes to Garageband many times by just selecting and dragging the song from iTunes into the GarageBand application window.  Not sure why... but now that does not work--GarageBand is not accepting the song when I drag it over.  Help!  I'm using iTunes 10.6.3 and GarageBand 4.1.2.
Update--just saw posting from HangTime with  link to instructions to highlight song in iTunes, select "Show in Finder" from the iTunes File pull-down menu, and then drag the song into the Garageband window from the Finder.  It worked. Just wondering (now) why GarageBand is not allowing me to simply drag a song into Garageband directly from iTunes.

Thank you for posting that 'update' Kingpalm. It just solved my (same) problem, today 1st January 2014!

  • Can't import songs from iTunes

I want to import songs from my iTunes library. When I click on the audio button, I can see my library of songs but I can't click and import them. I can drag the photo to desktop and then into iMovie but that feels like Windows.
I am having similar issues when importing music for slideshows in iPhoto. Maybe it's an iTunes issue?
    Any sugestions?

I have a similar problem ..but I know what it is . ( the original post here is very old )
The tracks were deleted .. but the playlist in iMovie never updated to the new playlist.
I can NOT figure out how to manually update the playlist to reflet the real iTunes library.
    Anybody know?

  • Importing songs from CDs - not showing up in my Library

I am aving trouble importing songs from CDs.  I completed the process as instructed - using the "import this CD" button (I have done this many times successfully).
The import process ran OK.  When the Import process completed, I looked in my music Library and the songs were not there.
I repeated the process - same result.  Nothing in my music library.
    What should I do?

When I load the CD, iTunes recognizes it and asks me if I want to Import the CD.
When I click on "Import CD", the song titles are retreived and show up.  The iTunes bar at the top of the screen shows "Importing track 1" or "Importing  the song by title".  Each song is imported, and I can see each song being impotrted via the iTunes bar at the top of the screen.  iTunes shows that the CD has been imported, and the system dings when the import is done.
This is exactly the same as every other time I've imported CDs.  The only difference is that the songs do not show up in the library.
    Thanks

  • Need to Import songs from Ipod to Itunes

Hey, so yeah my comp fried itself the other day [hard disk corrupt files issues] and i managed to get it fixed, with a new copy of windows installed. problem is i didnt wipe the hard disk [because many files are ones id rather not lose] and so the other account which was on 'dont share my files' [windows is ******** that way] is completely unaccessable. This means i lose access to documents, settings, and everything on the desktop / user-related files. They're still on my computer, but completely unaccessable , and windows pretends they arent there, because im a 'different user' now. Itunes was part of that. along with my songs folder. So i reinstall itunes, and the ipod registers, though saying it is registered to another itunes library, and i can change it to this one [if i want to wipe all my songs for the nothing that the current library has in it].
So clearly what i need to do is import songs from the ipod to the itunes library that i have now. This option doesnt seem to exist, ive been looking for it for some time. Any ideas?

Welcome to discussions! See the instructions from MacMuse on the following link. Once you have recovered your music, I would strongly suggest you institute some type of regualr backup program for your music library.
