ITunes not installing to c-drive in windows
Hi.
my itunes somehow got tied to my back-up drive. i want to install itunes to my c-drive, but i can't get it to even recognize anything other than the "L-drive," which is my backup drive when it is plugged in. It works when L-drive is plugged in, but then when it upgrades, it doesn't install to the c-drive. Please help. What top secret file do i have to delete in order to install iTunes to the c-drive ????
Thanks
Todd
Hi Diesel.
Thanks for trying to help.
But my iTunes IS on the L-drive. I see the file and folders through Explorer on the L-Drive. (i.e., iTunes, then CD Configuration, iTunes.Resources, iTunesHelper.Resources, etc.). None of these files are on the C-drive. My Library IS on the c-drive (music/iTunes, music/Playllists, then in iTunes folder album artwork iPod games, iTunes Music, etc.)
The error when the L driv is not plugged in and i click on the shotrcut for iTunes is:
The drive or network connection that the chortcut iTunes.lnk refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the desk is properly inserted or the network resource is availablel, and then try again.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components
If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
iCloud (if present)
MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
C:\Program Files\Bonjour
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
C:\Program Files\iPod
C:\Program Files\iTunes
also on 64-bit systems:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.
If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel. -

Why is my itunes not installing properly?
I installed itunes day before yesterday, I spent hours last night linking all my music photograph and movie files, its a new windows 8 laptop.
I plugged in my 64GB ipad 3 rebooted it and reloaded all the information I wanted on it, took hours... finally completed this this morning. After this I restarted the laptop to configure my icloud link for the laptop (which I installed last night while I was loading files, I chose to restart later)
on completion I turned my laptop off for a few hours, when I turned it back on I went to itunes to connect my iphone to do the same and I got this message:
iTunes exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point
AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey could not
be located in dynamiclink library F:\Programmes\iTunes.dll
OK
then after pressing 'OK' the following message:
iTunes
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes
Error 7 (Windows error 127)
I went back to apple website to reinstall iTunes, first reinstalled it same again, then unsinstalled it and the reinstalled it, same again.
The same thing happened with my old lap top and I replaced it with this new one at the start of the week.
Has anyone any idea what is going on and how to rectify this problem, I am now going on 3 weeks without iTunes.
Regards,
Damian36I started up and plugged in my iPad and then the following message came up:
iTunes
❗️This iPad cannot be used because the required software is not
Installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install
the 64-bit version of iTunes.
OK
I then proceeded to the "iTunes64Setup" expanded folder to load "AppleMobileDeviceSupport64"
Started the install and then received this message:
Apple Mobile Device Support
❗️Service 'AppleMobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device)
failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient
Privileges to start system services.
Abort. Retry. Ignore
I tried all tree options, last being ignore.
I continued to download the other 2 you suggested with out any drama.
I did a system restart and then opened iTunes.
Connected my iPad
Then message appears:
iTunes .exe - System Error
❌ The program can't start because CoreAdioToolbox.dll is missing from
Your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.
OK
Press OK and then the next message:
iTunes
❌ iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.
Error 7 (Windows error 126)
OK
Any suggestions? -
When opening iTunes on my new Windows 7 PC I continue to get the same messages, 'The program can't start because AVFoundationCF.dll is missing' and 'iTunes was not installed correctly. Error 7 (Windows error 126)' I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times to no avail, even tried it on a different user account and still nothing. I recently installed Panda Internet Security 2012 (about 12 days ago), initially iTunes worked fine as usual but within the last few days I've been unable to open it with the same messages appearing. I've read through some of these pages and tried everything that's been advised, uninstalling and reinstalling while internet and laptop security is swithched off, downloading tools to completely remove anything related to iTunes, tried it in Safe Mode, nothing has worked. I've also noticed that in the start menu when I click on iTunes, it says '(empty)' where it should have the logo and ability to start the program, does this mean it doesn't download + install properly each time I've tried? Any help would be enormously appreciated.
Doublechecking. Have you also tried the following user tip?

While running an update in itunes (not installing), it stopped in the middle of the update and i receceived the following messages:
Application failed to start because AVFoundationCF.dll was not found. Reinstalling itunes may fix the problem. Then "itunes was installed incorrectly. Please reinstall itunes Error 7 (Windows error 126)". If i uninstall and reinstall itunes will I lose all of my music, etc.?Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

have tried uninstalling all APPLE products,
Doublechecking. Were you using the instructions from the following documents?
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
(Doublechecking, because an error 7 off ituneshelper normally indicates trouble with Apple Application Support. If something else is going on, it's pretty exotic.) -
Trying to install iTunes on my XP machine after the operating system was reloaded. Getting a message "iTunes not installed correctly" Error 7 Windoes Error 998. Removed and retried installgot same message??????
This can sometimes indicate that one of the other itunes-related software components is damaged. (Usually Apple Application Support, but there are other possibilities beyond that.)
Perhaps first try a complete uninstall/reinstall as per the following document:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Does that get you past the 7? -

Still getting same error message. Can anyone help meFor general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
