ITunes not opening because of "wrong" version of quicktime
It says that I do not have the version 7.1.3 of Quicktime (when I do), and will not open. I've tried reinstalling everything, but it won't work.
okay, let's first try completely uninstalling both QuickTime and itunes using the instructions from the following document:
Removing iTunes and QuickTime for Windows
then download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to check to see if there is any leftover itunes and QuickTime installation configuration information on the PC. if you find any, remove it with CleanUp:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
reboot the PC and try another itunes install.
does it go through properly? if so, does itunes launch properly?

ITunes not launching because of newer version?
Since yesterday I have been unable to launch iTunes. I clicked on the icon on my desktop and it started to do what looked like an update. When it finished it left this message 'The file "iTunes Library itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes'.
I would really like some feedback on this, because I've looked all over this forum and can't find anybody with the same problems. I have searched Apples problem solving pages and can't find the answer.By way of experiment, try downloading and installing the latest version of iTunes:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Does that install go through okay? If not, let us know what error message you get. (Precise text, please.)
If the install does go through okay, try launching iTunes again. Does it launch without the error message this time? -
It started a year ago when I opened Firefox I got an error message, so I removed firefox & re-installed it. Still no go! So I opened "C" drive & searched for anything "firefox" & found a 2002 version!! I deleted everything, restart, & installed firefox and what I get now is what you see above.
OS is XPpro, sp3 + many updates.Do a clean (re)install:
* Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox. -

I have a 1st generation MacBook Pro and I recently downloaded OS X Maverick. My iTunes will not open because it says i need a 64 bit version. Already followed the promted instructions but no luck. Any suggestions??
Oh, you do have the C2D! That's great!
I'm no technical expert, I just like to help out whenever or wherever I can so... I don't know if this can help you, but let me tell you about how I got my Snow Leopard to run in 64 bit mode. When I got my (late 2008) iMac it was running in 32 bit mode under Tiger (2.4 GHz/Core 2 Duo). I eventually upgraded to Snow Leopard & it was running in 32 bit mode (by default) w/1 GB RAM.
Somewhere along the line, I happened to watch a YouTube Video that showed how to upgrade an iMac's RAM, so I ordered two - 2GB sticks of Crucial RAM and then - under the guidance of the 14 or 15 year-old young man who posted the video on YouTube; wearing a rather fashionable static-electricity-neutralizer-wrist-strap, I removed 1GB of RAM & plugged in the 4GBs of RAM. So - boom like that, it was like I bought a brand new machine.
It was over a year later when I stumbled across a way to boot Snow Leopard into 64 bit mode. Turns out that if you boot while holding down the 6 & 4 key combo (the ones above the QWERTY keys), then the machine runs in 64 bit mode. Go figure. Now my Snow Leopard and just about all of my applications - with the ironic exception of iTunes - runs in 64 bit. iTunes seems fine though; if there's a performance bottleneck, I really can't tell.
Well, that's about it..
I hope that something I've mentioned can help you achieve your overall goal.
Finally, it's hard to jump onto a train, a large cat, or a surfboard that's already moving. But don't be surprised when someone a fraction of your age shows you how to.
Best Regards,

My ipod touch (model A1213) is not syncing properly. I have updated the software to the latest (2.2.1) and have even resored it. Itunes says it is working and updated but will not sync and apps. Error message says that app will not sync because a newer version needed.
2.2.1 is not the latest available for any ipod touch.
Is yours the original ipod touch?
If so then:

OS 10.6.8 on documents created by Pages 3 will not open
They want a Version 4 while my iMac does not install because it needs 4 Pages 10.7. But I can not install 10.7 because my iMac is not Core2 duo ... Funny dilemma!!You should be able to Save as: iWork 08, but i don't know how it works on Mountain Lion. On my Snow Leopard the Save as window has a part looking like this
Or you can send me the document if you are in a hurry and I save it as iwork 08 for you. Click on my blue name and you'll find my address. -
"Itunes cannot open because it has detected a problem"
I upgraded to the new version of Itunes and now that I went to go open it I got a message saying "Itunes cannot open because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration" Can someone help me and if it is my computer how do I get an older Itunes.
First thing would be to try un-installing Quicktime, and then just re-installing the stand alone version of Quicktime. If you have a non-name brand sound card you may be beat. Apple has a hard time supporting the name brand cards, and does not seem to QA test any of the low end hardware.

"Motion and Compressor Will Not Open Because Of A Problem"?
Last week I installed FCS 3 on my iMac and everything appeared to work OK.
However, as my iMac had been cluttered with rubbish for 2 years I erased the Hard Drive and reinstalled OSX 10.6.3 together with all FCS 3.
I have only used FCP and STP since then but today I discovered that Motion and Compressor "will not open because of a problem".
Here are the reports where it appears that in both cases the "Dyld Error Message", whatever that is, reports that "Library not loaded etc. etc."
Incidentally there are mentions of 14 and 18 crashes since last reports. This is ridiculous as I have only just tried to open them 3 or 4 times in the last 5 minutes . . . . and the computer OS and apps are all freshly installed.

I have a laptop using OSX 10.5.8, iTunes v. 10.6.3 and Quicktime 7.7. iTunes will not open. It says it requires QuickTime 7.5.5 or later. I've tried reinstalling each of them. No success. Don't know what to try next.
QuickTime 7.5.5 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL27
QuickTime 7.7 for Leopard - http://support.apple.com/kb/dl761
= New version of Quicktime installed but application reports it needs to have that version installed =
Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications. One person had re-installed their operating system. It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize. Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem. Do this manually, not with Software Update.
Installation get stuck at "configuring installation" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2592979?threadID=2592979 - uninstall Quicktime before installing. -
I just updated to Lion and my Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint will not open because PowerPC applications are no longer supported. I bought this software from Apple and the store installed it when I bought the MAC. What do I do?
Buy version 2011 of MS Office.
Or you can download OpenOffice, LibreOffice or NeoOffice, which all come very close to working with MS files just like MS Office does.
Or iWord, I have heard, you can purchase. -

Application will not open because it may be damaged or incomplete - any thoughts?
I photo application will not open because it may be damaged or incomplete. Any thoughts on how to fix this?
Reinstall it:
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
