Itunes not opening, "Don't send error report" message

I am getting a new ipod soon, and I downloaded Itunes 6, when I open it and download everything and open Itunes 6, I get the "Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Bla bla bla. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it countless times, yes Quicktime does download along with Itunes. What's up? I think it also made my Ipod stop working. Any ideas?

It's not even on All Programs. My other post should help a little with that also. I download strait from apple and get, "ItunesSetup.exe"
okay, that makes things a lot more clear. you didn't try to launch your your QuickTime when i asked you to earlier. that's an itunes/QuickTime installer bundle that you tried to launch instead.
so what's causing the messages is that QuickTime didn't install properly as part of the itunes/QT installer bundle. so we'll first try a careful standalone QT 7.1 install to see if we can get that installed properly.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes 6
if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.
if you do get it to install properly, try another itunes install. (probably best to get a fresh copy of the installer, just in case the one you were using before was damaged in some way.) if QT 7.1 is already installed properly, the itunes installer bundle should just skip that part of the install.
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?

  • Itunes wont open.. "send error report to microsoft"

Whenever i try to open my Itunes, a message asking me to send an error report to Microsoft appears. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both itunes and quicktime many different times and nothing is working. I have tried recreating the preference files or whatever, and also recreating the music library files that are potentially corrupt. please help me someone!!

I have the same problem too. I use Win2k3 on my Compaq Presario 2500 laptop. I have been noticing this problem since the day i decided to upgrade from iTunes 6.0.2.x to higher. As of now it seems to me that it is the problem with QuickTime. Worse part is afte uninstalling the iTunes I can not find QuickTime in add/remove program group.
Earlier for this reason alone I did reinstall everything, formatting the disk. Yesterday I just tried upgrading to latest version. Unlucky me stuck with the same problem again. Never expected something like this from Apple at least. Now I should row for clean install once again.
Tried to rolling back to earlier version of iTunes but quicktime seems to be the problem.

  • "Send Error Report" Message When Trying to Open iTunes

I've looked for two days to find a solution to this problem and tried everything I've come across. Nothing has worked so far, and every time I try to open iTunes I still get the "send error report". I know that that does nothing. I've un-installed and re-installed both Quicktime and iTunes and it doesn't work. I've tried to see if it will work on another account on the same computer but it doesn't work. What is the next step?
    Thanks!

Good-O. Not seeing an error message there rules out another possible set of problems, so we're still making progress.
Okay, we'll try swapping out your existing QuickTime one more time, taking a few extra explicit precautions along the way.
First, download and save a fresh copy of the QuickTimeInstaller.exe to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line and don't run the install just yet.) Get the installer that doesn't mention iTunes:
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Now head into your "Add or Remove Programs" control panel and uninstall QuickTime.
Next we'll remove any leftover QuickTime program files and folders.
    Restart the PC.
Open Local Disk C: or whichever drive your program files are installed on.
    Open the "Program Files" folder.
Right-click the "QuickTime" folder (if it still exists) and select Delete.
Go back into Local Disk C: or whichever drive your Operating System files are installed on.
    Open the "Windows" folder.
    Open the "system32" folder.
Right-click on the QuickTime file (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Right-click on the QuickTimeVR file (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your Recycle Bin and restart the PC again.
After the PC restarts, do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now disable all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the QuickTime install by doubleclicking on the QuickTimeInstaller.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to the internet and/or your network.
Did that install seem to go through okay? If so, does QuickTime launch normally this time?

You will need to provide more details as we cannot see your computer screen. Does this happen every time you launch LabVIEW? What version of LabVIEW are you using? What version of Windows? Does LabVIEW crash? If so, what were you doing at the time it crashed?

  • Itunes wont open/ immediate "send error report message"

So I had a problem with me trying to install itunes 7.3 because of a missing itunes.msi. I followed the instructions i found from this forum as follows
"1. Go to http://www.ccleaner.com/ and download and install CCleaner. Run this program and click Run Cleaner. This program will remove most of your temporary files.
    2. Go to http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1b d/msicuu2.exe and download and install Windows Install Clean Up utility. Click on iTunes and click Remove. Do the same for Quicktime.
    3. Now you need to manually delete all of your iTunes and Quicktime files. This can take a very long time. Just go to C: and start searching through.
    4. Go to the Run box and type in "regedit". Go through all of the folders in there and delete all iTunes and Quicktime files.
    5. Go to Add/Remove Programs and Remove iTunes and Quicktime.
    6. Download iTunes again and install it."
I then tried to open itunes and immediately a message pops up asking if i want to send an error report to microsoft. It seems as though step 4 might have truly made things worse.
    Someone please help
      Windows XP

After you get the send error report message go to:
Start -> Control Panel (In classic view which can be enabled by clicking view classic.) -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer.
Select the Application log and look for the most recent errors (Marked by a red X).
Double click on the error and it will show you a full description. For an error similar to the one you are recieving it should report a 'faulting module' in the error.
Please paste that here. This will help us help you.

Alright so when I try and open itunes I get a send error report message. I've tried updating it and that doesnt work and I've already tried reinstalling it. I thought quicktime was the error so I went to try and remove it from my computer. As it was loading to remove quicktime I got a "fatal error" message and quicktime could not be deleted.

the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.

  • ITunes "Send Error Report" Message/Quicktime Problem

This is a problem that has only occured after I updated my iTunes to 7.0.2. Some songs in my library, and all of my videos that I have bought through the Music store cause the "Send Error Report" message to come up and iTunes closes down immediately.
I read another thread that a similar problem was occuring to a customer, and one of the admins requested him to un-install Quicktime and delete 2 files out of the registry. Then re-install quicktime through the "Repair" section of the iTunes installer. I followed these steps and the problem seemed to be fixed, but then they were "re-corrupted" I guess after I restarted my computer.
Do you have any idea what would be wrong? I know it is not spyware/viruses because I have several programs to check/delete them.
    Thanks for your help
    -jcavanagh.

    Bump for the 3rd time.
Quicktime will not even open, on a sidenote. It starts to load, then I hear some sort of beep..then it closes. I have tried re-installing multiple times and the problem continues.

  • Send/Don't Send Error Report

Everytime I open Safari it comes up with an error.
It says "Safari Web Browser has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." and asks "Send error report" or "Don't Send". If I click either it closes out.
    How do I fix this?

Try reinstalling Safari. When you do, install to a new folder like C:\Apps\Safari.

    It keeps crashing.
(Do you really expect other answer if you don't provide any details? And, btw, I don't think Apple accepts crash reports for 10.5 any longer.)

Provoke one of those messages again. Click on the link to further information on the error. What ModName and ModVer show up in there, Maddie? (Precise spelling, please.)
If you don't have a ModName or ModVer in there, what does it say the problem type is? (For example, does it say BEX or InPageError?)

  • Battery not opening in logic 7 error 1 message

I have a powermac g5 and i run logic pro 7.I recently moved and dont have access to my original disks, but wanted to know if anyone has any ideas about my issue. When i load my song i get an error message 1 that says core audio driver. In my computer i have the battery 3 app and ive installed it several times and it didnt work. All of my native instrument sounds are still in my computer,so im confused?if i have the battery application and all the sounds why wont battery load?all the other native programs open fine absynth,fm7,b4 etc.So it seems like the problem is only with battery?any ideas would be appreciated

An error message "1" that says "core audio driver" ? Are you sure there isn't more?
And what original disks do you mean? From NI? Or Logic? Or OS X? And why is it relevant that you don't have 'm anymore? If you have to reinstall, you have to reinstall, and you need those disks. Nobody here is going to burn a copy for you, if that is what you're fishing for...
And why are you suddenly mentioning Battery? Or does the error message mention Battery? What version of Battery is it anyway? Have you tried reinstalling? Have you tried asking NI?
    So, two questions:
When do you get this error message and what exactly does it say?
And where does Battery come into it and what is the problem with it, exactly?

  • Itunes wont open, encountered problem and send error report

Everytime i try to open windows, it says that itunes has encoutered a problem and needs to close. it has the send error report message too. please someone help

Meaghan, I already responded to your topic. Plus, it is simply not good to bury your post in other people's topics, and just for the future, if you have a problem without a good answer, don't post what has already been said in a thread. I know, the discussions take a little getting used to, but it is easy to get the hang of it after a couple of visits. You'll get it sooner or later. I know you will.

  • ITunes Won't Open; Get Option To Send Error Report

Whenever I try to open iTunes, I get the message, "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have the option to either Debug (which does nothing), Send Error Report, or Don't Send. I have tried restarting my computer, redownloading iTunes, and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.
Backstory: I tried downloading the new iTunes version yesterday, and acidentaly clicked the power strip reset button with my toe right in the middle of download. iTunes disappeared from my computer after I booted it back up. So I downloaded it, and it worked yesterday. I turned on my computer again today, and I get this message.

Is it possible to download an older version of iTunes to see if that works? If so, where?

  • ITune is not working, Send Error Report

before i updated to the newer 7.0.2 iTunes it used to work perfectly fine. Now after i installed it, quick time and iTunes seem to be having a problem. I click on Quick time and it says, Buffer Overrun detected.(then it says my file directory in program files). A buffer overrun has been detetced which has corrupted the programs internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
Itunes starts up, this agree to liscense agreement pops(sometimes this does not even pop up) up. I check yes and then the iTunes library pops up for about 3-5 seconds. iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience. (Send error report, Dont send). How do i fix this?

the QuickTime problem will probably be causing your itunes problem. (itunes needs a properly functioning QuickTime in order to work correctly.)
let's try swapping out your QuickTime.
head into your Add/Remove programs. uninstall QuickTime.
Next, we’ll manually remove any leftover program files and folders.
    1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
    2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
    3. Open Program Files.
    4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
    5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
    6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx.
    7. Restart your computer.
next, we'll get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
if the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. does it launch properly now?

  • "Send error report" popup upon iTunes startup

When I try to open iTunes 7.0, after a moment of loading, a "send error report" popup comes onto the screen. This is a serious problem because it prevents me from accessing iTunes and updating my iPod. For reference, I am not experiencing any problems with Quicktime. Any suggested courses of action? I have already tried these two methods, as proposed by Apple, and nothing has been fixed.
Here are some screenshot clips of the error:
Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
      Windows XP

Yes, it works in the new account. Thanks so much!
However, how can I make it work on my main account. Also, any ideas as to the reason it only works on this account?
the first thing we should check on is damaged itunes preference files in the account in which you're getting the crash. (there's a different set of these in each XP user account, which is how we can get the "crash in one account, launch in another" behavior.)
try the technique i describe in my reply to kusma in the following post:
