Itunes not openning windows XP

I get no error code just a box stating "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close". Same with quicktime. I have unistalled both and reinstalled them still same problem.

If your iTunes is giving you an "itunes has encountered a problem" on launch, your QuickTime isn't launching, and QuickTime is also not showing up in your Add/Remove programs, try the following procedure.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
Now run the utility (“Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up”), select any QuickTime entries in the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, and then click “Remove”.
Next, we’ll manually remove leftover program files and folders.
1. On the Start menu, click My Computer (or double-click My Computer on the Desktop).
2. In My Computer, open Local Disk.
3. Open Program Files.
4. Right-click on the QuickTime folder and click Delete from the shortcut menu.
5. Navigate to C:\Windows\system32\.
6. Remove the files QuickTime.qts and QuicktimeVR.qtx. (If “Hide filename extensions for known file types” is enabled on the PC, then those two files will appear as “QuickTime” and QuickTimeVR”.)
7. Restart your computer.
Next, we'll try to get a fresh copy of QuickTime into your PC by doing a repair install of itunes.
Switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the repair install.
Go into Add/Remove and select itunes. click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If the repair install goes through okay, restart the PC and try launching itunes again. Does it launch properly now?

  • Ipod will not turn on, itunes will not open, window says ipod is in recovery mode and needsto be restored

ipod will not turn on, itunes will not open, window pops up says ipod is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. what do i do now?

You restore the iPod via iTunes. Don't plug the iPod in. Open up iTunes and then plug it in and then try restoring, if it fails to restore a few times, keep trying. I do it on a daily basis, you're using an Apple product, remember...
EDIT: Do it from another computer if all else fails.

  • "A Fix For iTUNES Not Opening"

Well, after trying to figure out what was going on with iTunes not opening at all. It turns out that by default for some reason Windows Xp Firewall disables it from opening it. iTunes however is acting like a server for the simple fact that you exchange data between your computer and iTunes Store. Since there is no option to force this connection to happen, you have to get ZoneAlarm to do so. I’m using ZoneAlarm Suite Edition, but it also works with the free Edition of ZoneAlarm. So what ZoneAlarm does is actually enables the connection between your computers data (iTunes) and iTunes servers to connect.
So first off make sure that you uninstall any Anti-Virus program so that only ZoneAlarm is installed/Running. Run ZoneAlarm and once that’s achieved you then go ahead and run iTunes. You will then be prompted twice, the first time it will prompt you about itunes.exe running as a program (Click Yes) and the second is very important since this is what enables iTunes to make a forced connection with iTunes servers (Click yes again). Once that’s done, you will see iTunes runs again. You can also uninstall ZoneAlarm and you will see that iTunes will still open even after ZoneAlarm is Uninstalled. I will see if I can make a .reg file so that you don’t have to install ZoneAlarm to make iTunes open again, but then again it wouldn’t hurt having ZoneAlarm installed since ZoneAlarm is a great tool.
Here's A direct link to the Free ZoneAlarm: http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/1001cnet_zdnet/zlsSetup_61_737_000en.exe
I’m sure this will work for anyone clicking the iTunes icon and getting nothing after a sec of the hour-glass disappearing and also seeing that iTunes.exe disappears in the Task Manager. So the chances of this working are high and once again since its free it wont hurt to try. Thank you again for your attention. And if anyone needs help let me know, and I would appreciated it if you can leave a reply and let me know how it turned out, weather or not iTunes opened. Thank You.-Michael R.

Just A Correction. In The Line ....The first time it will prompt you about itunes.exe running as a program (Click Yes) and the second is very important since this is what enables iTunes to make a forced connection with iTunes servers (Click yes again)...
Instead of "Click Yes" its supposed to be "Click Allow".

  • Clicking on an e-mail address will NOT open Windows Live Mail which is already the default mail program which is already set as the default mail program

Clicking on an e-mail address will NOT open Windows Live Mail. Windows Live mail is already set as my default e-mail program.

Sorry you're having this problem. I think it was previously reported only by Windows XP users.
When you reinstall, were you making Firefox your default browser? Some users have reported that ''not'' making Firefox the default browser was an effective workaround.
However, you may have success with this approach, suggested by a user in another thread, which appears to more thoroughly update the Windows registry:
    # Open Adobe Reader / Acrobat
    # Edit->Preferences
    # In the Categories column click 'General'
    # Near the bottom of the page click the button marked 'Select Default PDF Handler'
    # In the dialog, select 'Adobe Reader XI' (or Adobe Acrobat, as the case may be) and click 'Apply'
    # A Windows Configuration screen will appear. Allow it to do its stuff (takes a few minutes), then restart your computer when prompted.
Does that resolve the issue for you?

  • Error # 1 can not open window

when i try to do a pano thru photomerge in pse11 on a mac i get the message error 1 can not open window. this was after i tried to fix error 22. i held down the com, option, shift keys just after a started photoshop aditor. help steve

    Quoting from another thread -
Definitely try doing a File > Save For Web using the Photoshop Elements Editor (be sure not to save over your original photos), and then try to do a Photomerge Panorama on the resulting images.
Photomerge apparently has some issues with some kind(s) of EXIF metadata in files, and using Safe For Web strips this information out of the file.
This has worked for most (or perhaps all) of those that mentioned having this issue in this thread.

I'm not a "Cloud" member. I just upgraded to Lightroom 6 from Lightroom 5. All was working well yesterday. Today Lightroom will not open (Windows 7). I see the logo photo over my Lightroom platform but nothing loads and I see "Lightroom not responding." I checked the catalogs and see that lrcat-Journal and lrcat-Lock have been created every time I try to open. I have a backup from the first day I upgraded, but Lightroom doesn't want to access it. Should I reinstall?

Well, is the catalogue (and the folder it is in) writable? Have you actually checked the permissions? Lightroom won't be spitting out the error just to tick you off, and - computer wizard or not - this sounds very much like something you'll have to fix at the OS level: it's probably nothing to do with Lightroom or those funny lads at Adobe.

  • Windows 8.1 Computer not recognizing iPhone 5 and iTunes not opening

So i've been having these issues persist since I updated to iOS7 in September. Computer is a MSI GT60 2OD-026US running windows 8, now 8.1.
How this all started in September:
    1. Download iTunes and it sees iPhone, update to iOS7
    2. Everything is all good until it tries to connect to iTunes after extracting the old software, the computer doesn't acknoledge the phone is connected.
    3. Try all usb ports, no luck
    4. update usb drivers, already updated, no help
    5. reinstall itunes, no luck
    6. itunes starts to not open, its running in the task manager but no window shows up, even after ending the task and relaunching
    7. uninstall itunes and reinstall on the OS drive, now it works, but still wont see iphone.
    8. temporary fix found, iphone successfully restores on a different computer and all is good for a while
    Second problem:
    1. try to sync new CD onto iPhone, when suddenly I have over have my phone filled with "other" data
    2. restore to clear "other" data
    3. computer again wont recognize it after extracting the software
    4. again use temporary fix of going to another computer
    Today:
    1. got a lot of new non itunes music, going to sync it
    2. uh oh, I have duplicate songs on it and lots of the album artwork is wrong
    3. woah, suddenly I have 5 gb of "other" data, lets restart for a clean slate
    4. and like clockwork my computer doesn't recognize it after software extraction, get 4005 error message
    5. reinstall itunes and itunes refuses to open because I moved it back to my 1TB drive instead of my 128GB SSD OS drive because it was getting rather full.
    5. iTunes again will not open, even in safe mode but again shows up in the taskbar
I've looked at many threads similar to this and no solution has worked.
Have any ideas? or should I just bring my computer into the apple store?

I have stated every issue I’ve had so far in a fairly clear and concise way. I think if you read what I wrote, it all makes logical sense as to what is going on. Windows 7/8 would work just as well on a Mac if it was supported the same way the OS is for other OEMs.
As I stated earlier in the post, I’m having these same issues in windows 8, not just 8.1, which is the reason for the post. I know the difference between supported by drivers and not supported by the manufacturer. The fact that when Haswell mbp’s came out and no revision to bootcamp for the new hardware was released to fix issues with installing windows on the new hardware shows Apple clearly Is not supporting bootcamp as strongly as they advertise.
I am being realistic on Apple having drivers early. Anyone with an MSDN subscription can download the RELEASE version of windows months ahead of the actual release, I’m 100% sure if any average consumer can do that by paying $100 and saying they are a developer, apple can do it just as easily.
You aren’t much help, you haven’t answered really anything to my post, nor have you contributed any knowledge that wasn’t clearly posted above, so don’t say anything if you don’t have anything to contribute.
By the way, my rant is directed at apple, as you can see because I am saying “Apple, if you are going to…” because this is an Apple forum on Apple’s website. It is not directed to end users, clearly.

  • Itunes 10.6.1 does not open- Windows XP

    Good Evening Gang,
I recently reinstalled windows XP and downloaded the new itunes 10.6. Itunes starts with the end user agreement and does not open after I accept. I have tried everything and nothing seems to work and I cannot sync any of my apple devices. I have 1. Reinstalled itunes 2. Trusted itunes in the anivirus program 3. Reinstalled XP. I have not had this problem of the past 5 years. Below are my specs. Is this an issue for 10.6 as this is frustrating as I cannot buy music or sync any devices? Is there a workaround? Can I get a previous version?
    Any help would be great.
Computer: Dell Dimension 8400 (Old School but still running like a gem)
    OS: XP Service pack 3
    AnriVirus: Norton 2012 Internet security

Thanks for the quick response. Did not work. I tried to repair
But there was only an option to remove/uninstall?
iTunes opens to the end user agreement and when I hit agree,
Nothing happens. This is frustrating and I am about to give up.
Can it be norton Internet security 2012? I used previous versions
Of iTunes with norton with no problem. Why is this version 10.6 being
A pain? Any help as I would like update my iPad and devices...
    Thanks

  • Itunes will not open --windows 7 64bit

ok so, itunes refuses to open. i went to the support page and did EVERYTHING it says to do. update drivers, disable virus protection, add a new user, try safe mode, etc etc. STILL WILL NOT OPEN. uninstalled everything, reinstalled everything about 5 times... nothing. can someone please help me fix this?

Yeah I tried that as well, the other download that actually says "iTunes 64-Bit installer." Thats a load of crap. Doesn't do anything different than the other installer. Like I said in a couple of my posts, I think the problem is that iTunes is a 32 Bit program and my version of windows on this computer is 64 bit. Doesnt work properly. I was actually on vacation and left it running for about an hour and I saw that iTunes was opened. I went to do things within iTunes and it crashed no more than 5 seconds into it. iTunes runs perfectly fine on my windows 7 32bit computer but on this windows 7 64 bit, nothing but problems. Can't play videos, can't play a song, can't even edit options. And everything on their website they say to do does nothing. Especially to disable all of my startup programs, makes a lot of my programs run very poorly or not at all and I'm not going through all of that trouble for iTunes. I just wanted to be able to update my iPod while i was on vacation, but unfortunately I cant. I'll stick to running it on my other computer because obviously no one from apple has a solution to this problem and obviously I am not the only one having it.
