Itunes not oprning up
I ma having the worst time trying to get my itunes to open up... i have already updated it to the itunes 9 and it still wont open up...what can i do...please help.

okay, if your QT is launching fine, then it's possible that you have a corrupt itunes preferences file. we can usually get past that by rebuilding the itunes preferences files.
find and delete the following two files:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
and
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref
You might have to turn on "show hidden files" to find them. (Right click "my computer", select open, select Tools menu -> Folder Options. Select View tab, "show hidden files" radio button is in the center scrolling panel.) these will be rebuilt the next time you try to launch itunes. (the itunes setup assistance should run. you'll be asked to agree to the license agreement and so forth.
does itunes work properly after doing that?

Recent ITunes update has caused ITunes not to work. Tried uninstalling all Apple products and reinstalling fresh. Still doesn't work. Tried reinstalling from an old install.exe. Install went nicely but program won't start as it says it can't open the library file.
Now that I have no way of accessing any of the products I have purchased from ITunes, I will most certainly never use ITunes again for any reason. Why throw good money after bad? I will use another MP3 player that is not as cumbersome or proprietary.
Lesson learned. -
I just recently purchased 3 songs from itunes not knowing that I had no money on my debit card (visa) left. My iphone wont let me update my apps and says that there was a billing problem with my last purchase. I dont know what I am supposed to do! I dont understand why it worked in the first place when it wasn't supposed to!
There seems to be a billing problem with the iTS. I've been trying to make purchases today (Dec 9th) too and it reports either the iTS can not process payments or it says my card was declined. I even changed the payment method to Paypal (which is never declined) and still no go.
I don't think it is "you" but a problem at Apple. Some popular new apps were released recently like Logic Pro and perhaps they're getting bombarded as they did when Lion was released.
Wait a few hours and then try again. -
Why is my itunes not installing properly?
I installed itunes day before yesterday, I spent hours last night linking all my music photograph and movie files, its a new windows 8 laptop.
I plugged in my 64GB ipad 3 rebooted it and reloaded all the information I wanted on it, took hours... finally completed this this morning. After this I restarted the laptop to configure my icloud link for the laptop (which I installed last night while I was loading files, I chose to restart later)
on completion I turned my laptop off for a few hours, when I turned it back on I went to itunes to connect my iphone to do the same and I got this message:
iTunes exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point

be located in dynamiclink library F:\Programmes\iTunes.dll

then after pressing 'OK' the following message:
iTunes

I went back to apple website to reinstall iTunes, first reinstalled it same again, then unsinstalled it and the reinstalled it, same again.
The same thing happened with my old lap top and I replaced it with this new one at the start of the week.
Has anyone any idea what is going on and how to rectify this problem, I am now going on 3 weeks without iTunes.

I tried all tree options, last being ignore.
I continued to download the other 2 you suggested with out any drama.

Your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.
OK
Press OK and then the next message:
iTunes

My question is about the 'Restore Backup' option on iTunes (Not 'Restore iPhone'). So, if I click on Back Up Now, then 'Restore Backup', would that go through the process of erasing everything on my phone as new then restore whatever iTunes has backed up?
I do not want this to happen, as with previous experience iTunes doesn't restore a mirror of what the iPhone was when it was backed up as is the case with iCloud backups.
What I am trying to do is, as I've found a method on Youtube, there is an application where I can delete all the multimedia saved in my 'iMessages' so clear up some space. As doing that manually through the phone would take a lifetime. The method is to backup on iTunes, then using the backup created, importing that into the application then deleting the messages through that then restoring the phone using that amended backup.
So back to my question, would restoring through 'Restore Backup' just restore the backup internally or would it flush the entire phone and then restore the backup? And if it does so, what would be lost in the restore?

FahmidiCloud should overwrite your phone with the data stored in your account, preserving your newer data. However, to be sure I would go to Settings>iCloud and turn data syncing to Off before restoring the backup. Then, after restoring the backup, turn the data syncing back to on, and when prompted about Merging with iCloud, choose Don't Merge. This will ensure that the data in your iCloud account overwrites the data on your phone (which is your goal).
Also, you don't sync text messages with iCloud so you will end up losing your more recent messages when they are overwritten by the backup. -

Can you tell me a little more about your situation? I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish. You authorize your computer to sync or download iTunes; you associate your iPhone with your Apple ID, not with iTunes.

Where do I find a tutorial about how to use the new iTunes? I have version 11.1.3 (8). I looked on the Apple web site but only found info extolling the virtues of iTunes, not how to use it.
Use it the same way as previously.
ctrl B shows the menus.
ctrl S shows the sidebar.
What else do you need help with? -
"A Fix For iTUNES Not Opening"
Well, after trying to figure out what was going on with iTunes not opening at all. It turns out that by default for some reason Windows Xp Firewall disables it from opening it. iTunes however is acting like a server for the simple fact that you exchange data between your computer and iTunes Store. Since there is no option to force this connection to happen, you have to get ZoneAlarm to do so. I’m using ZoneAlarm Suite Edition, but it also works with the free Edition of ZoneAlarm. So what ZoneAlarm does is actually enables the connection between your computers data (iTunes) and iTunes servers to connect.
So first off make sure that you uninstall any Anti-Virus program so that only ZoneAlarm is installed/Running. Run ZoneAlarm and once that’s achieved you then go ahead and run iTunes. You will then be prompted twice, the first time it will prompt you about itunes.exe running as a program (Click Yes) and the second is very important since this is what enables iTunes to make a forced connection with iTunes servers (Click yes again). Once that’s done, you will see iTunes runs again. You can also uninstall ZoneAlarm and you will see that iTunes will still open even after ZoneAlarm is Uninstalled. I will see if I can make a .reg file so that you don’t have to install ZoneAlarm to make iTunes open again, but then again it wouldn’t hurt having ZoneAlarm installed since ZoneAlarm is a great tool.

I’m sure this will work for anyone clicking the iTunes icon and getting nothing after a sec of the hour-glass disappearing and also seeing that iTunes.exe disappears in the Task Manager. So the chances of this working are high and once again since its free it wont hurt to try. Thank you again for your attention. ITunes not reading ID3 tags correctly
I have an album of mp3s, all correctly ID3 tagged (WinAMP and Windows Media Player read them fine), and when I try to add it into my iTunes library, it only add it as the filename. It does not read the artist, album, or track name from the tag.
It is strange that it is able to read some of the id3 tags but not all.
iTunes 6.0.4 Windows XP ProSomething else on your system is probably changing the tag outside of itunes. For instance, WMP is set to get album info from the internet.
iTunes isn't constantly scanning your library for any little tag change (a good thing, otherwise it would use 100% CPU all the time). When you go to play it or get Info, it DOES read the tag info.
Then again, I might not understand your itunes preferences settings. I have mine set for itunes not to organize my files and not add them to the itunes library. -
I have an old iphone and have a new one as well. I would like to use my old on as an ipod but itunes not longer recognizes it. Any ideas? I have been using it for a month with no problems until tonight. I restarted my computer..still no fix.
Looks like its fixed. I am syncing it now. A lot of the answers are for the new iphone so i had to mess with a bunch of settings as well. My old phone is now an 8 gig ipod. the books app no longer works and that *****.....but better than nothing...

Try doing a hard reset on the phone;
1. Hold Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time;
2. Wait for the Apple logo to appear (ignore the slide to Power Off option)
3. Let go of the buttons when you see Apple on the screen
4. Allow iPhone to reboot;
If you are still unable to get the phone to power on, charge, or connect to iTunes; it could possibly require service. (hardware replacement) -
ITunes Not Recognizing my iPod Touch after Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard
After upgrading from Tiger (10.4.x) to Leopard (10.5.0=>10.5.6), my iPod Touch is no longer recognized by iTunes 8.0.2. The iPod Touch no longer appears in iTunes' "source list" (left side pane in iTunes' GUI).
Immediately prior to that upgrade, my iPod Touch was working great with Tiger (10.4.x). iTunes 8.0.2 recognized it (listed it in sources) and always synchronized with it successfully.''
My iPod Touch is also not shown in the Finder. However, it does show up as recognized in iPhoto.

iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Jim's posting set me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to Jim's posting, I had already read the article that Jim referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to Jim's posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch. -
ITune not recognising iPod touch, on and off.
Okay, this is not the usual iTunes not recognising the iPod.
I had this problem when I first set up my iPod. After a full uninstall and reinstall of iTunes, as described in the support article, my iPod was recognised. Now I have added more music to my collection, and a couple of the apps need updating I wanted to update my iPod. I connected my iPod and nothing, it does not show in iTunes. It is showing in my computer as a camers which I really wish it would stop doing. Also when my iPod was connected the first time I set up to allow it to wirelessly update and it won't do that either.
I am stuck on what else to do. I just hope I am not going to have to do a full uninstall and reinstall every time I want to update my iPod, because it rather defeats the purpose.

I have even de-authorised and re-authorised my account as suggested at the Apple store. It is the latest model of touch, not sure what gen that is but it is only two weeks old. What else can I do to try and get this sorted?Illass thank you for the reply, but as I said I have done everything on the support page. I even printed off the uninstall instructions as it gave you a rather precise order to do it in and I did check for the folders to see if they had been left, I learnt that when I updated my graphics drivers and still a game said my card wasn't up to scratch, even though my card supported shading 4.0 it only needed 2.0 for the game.
I also printed off the software conflict information otherwise I would have gotten totally lost.
However thank you for the disabling info, as it was getting a tad annoying when I was connecting it to charge up.
I decided to uninstall and reinstall again and low and behold it is recognised again. That makes it the second time I have had to do this to get my touch recognised. However doing this everytime I want to update is going to be rather annoying.
Ah the days of the Nano 2nd gen, and the innoence of those times. Shame some clumsy so-an-so knocked it out of my hand and stepped on it as it was just so simple to use. -
When I plug in my ipod to my laptop instead of my desktop, nothing pops up to sync it. Has anone had any problems with itunes not recognizing an ipod?
