ITunes not reading updated channel info

Hello.
I have a podcast that was previously submitted without iTunes specific tags. It was a plain RSS feed.
I have gone back and added iTunes tags, and everything in new <item> entries is updated fine in iTMS, but nothing in the <channel> seems to be. I'm missing the image, author, description, etc.
My cast validates on feedvalidator and nobodylikesonions. New episodes do not show up in the iTMS listing but download fine when you are subscribed.
I have pinged the server. New <items> got updated. How do I get iTMS to re-read the <channel> tags?
Can anyone help?

Well, evangelizing open source and Linux inside Apple, and to the unwashed masses, would be a good thing. I wouldn't mind listening, but I only use iTunes.
Definitely start with validating your feed. Start at http://feedvalidator.org , that site is down right now, hopefully it will come back later.
To get the nice image and such you need the iTunes specific information. See the specs at http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
Email me offline and I'll help you get everything all set up for iTunes. Are you using any kind of software for creating you ogg-cast? Or is it hand-crafted?Mike

  • IPhone 4s new IOS update problem. Itunes not reading phone anymore. Help!

I decided to update my IPhone, since I had the time. Thankfully, I did a back up before doing so. I hit "update" and my phone worked normally through it, until it said "Waiting on IPhone" for quite a few minutes. The screen of my phone also has the Itunes logo with the charge cable (not the USB side). Thinking the phone was saying it wasn't connected anymore (like something was wrong with my cable) and thats why it was taking so long, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Bad move on my part, as now Itunes will not read my phone, and my phone no longer works properly. It is stuck on the screen I described. I have reset the phone, my computer, and changed cables to no avail. Is there any way to fix this? Or do I need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar?

  • ITunes not reading ID3 tags correctly

I have an album of mp3s, all correctly ID3 tagged (WinAMP and Windows Media Player read them fine), and when I try to add it into my iTunes library, it only add it as the filename. It does not read the artist, album, or track name from the tag.
It is strange that it is able to read some of the id3 tags but not all.
    iTunes 6.0.4   Windows XP Pro

Something else on your system is probably changing the tag outside of itunes. For instance, WMP is set to get album info from the internet.
iTunes isn't constantly scanning your library for any little tag change (a good thing, otherwise it would use 100% CPU all the time). When you go to play it or get Info, it DOES read the tag info.
Then again, I might not understand your itunes preferences settings. I have mine set for itunes not to organize my files and not add them to the itunes library.

  • Itunes not reading external hard drive correctly

I recently moved or at least attempted to move all my music from my old hard drive to an external hard drive.
My original plan was to have all my music on the external and have Itunes pathed to the external so whenever I have it plugged in, all my music would be in my library.  Obviously it wasn't that easy, at least not in my case.   Throughout the process I ended up losing a decent amount of my music which ***** but what can I do now.   My question is, how do I properly have Itunes read my external hard drive and have it show my music?   I have the path set to the folder in which my music is at but the issue seems to be that when I consolidated to transfer into the external, all the songs are in individual folders by artists.  I'm lost and don't know what to do.   If I drag the music folder to Itunes, the music stays on my library whenever the external is plugged in which is what I want.  But, many songs are doubled for some reason.
Any help would be appreciated as this is becoming very frustrtating, thank you.

  • ITunes not reading iPod Classic?

    Hello, it's me again.
This time, I plugged my iPod in. iTunes is working this time. However, it's not reading my iPod. My computer recognizes it, my iPod recognizes my computer but iTunes isn't picking it up.
    Any ideas?

There's rather a lot of different things that can cause that, E. The following document is probably the best place to start:

  • Itunes not reading new iphone

Here's the story, My first iphone was a 3g. I synced it to my little brother macbook. I ended up braking my iphone so at the time didn't have money for a new one so I used my friend's old 2g iphone and sync that iphone to a windows pc computer. I just got my new 3g and my little brother updated his macbook to a leopard so now itunes doesn't read my iphone but it charges it.

Download the current iTunes version and re-install it over the existing on your brother's MacBook - no need to delete iTunes first.

  • Itunes not Reading iphone

    Hey Guys,
My itunes is no longer reading my iphone, the computer is reading it as a camera. How ever my dads computer can read it fine.
I have reinstalled itunes about 5 or more times, i have tried to reinstall the drivers manually. I have forced my iphone into restore mode, But when it does this the computer fails to install the restore drivers and asks me to install a disc as it cant find any on the computer, yet they are on the computer. The main reason why i need to use my computer is because my restore file is on there and thats what i need

Sorry i should have said that i have gone through everything in that multiple times yet i still cannot get itunes to read it its a new one that i got back

  • ITunes does not read audio track info from CD burned with Toast 10 Titanium

I cannot get iTunes on my Mac laptop to read the CD text that I type when I burn an audio disc on Toast 10.0.7. This is true, even though I choose the Toast option "Add CD Text." I have to re-enter the info into iTunes, duplicating the effort I put into naming the tracks and artists in Toast. Even after doing all this, however, the track icons within the disc icon on the desktop will not reflect the iTunes info. When I click ""Get Info" for the disc, its says "You can only read" under the "Sharing & Permissions" section. How can I fix this? Is this a Toast issue or a Mac/iTunes issue?

It is an iTunes issue. iTunes can write CD text when it burns a CD, but is not capable of reading CD Text from a CD.
If you want to see a list of ripping tools that can read CD Text, refer to this Wikipedia article. If you don't have time to read it, here is a summary: almost every ripping tool can read CD Text, except iTunes.

  • Songs Ski'pping, Harddrive Clicking, iTunes not reading....

Sounds just like an iPod huh? lol anyways I have had this problem and it wont go away... I've tried resetting, I've tried restoring, I;ve tried uninstalling iTunes and my iPod software and reinstalling it. What else is there to do and what kind of $$$ is it for a harddrive revamping... Is there just not enough shock absorbers on the harddrive? I know that external harddrives cant take a shaking.... is that what is happening here? I hear a lot of people with this problem and I would like to know if there is going to be a recall or a fix to this in future iPods... A lot of questions here. Please help with whatever info you have.

My iPod made the hard drive clicking noises and I thought it was dying. It wasn't, though. After putting the iPod into disk mode and erasing the hard drive, then reinstalling the iPod software I fixed it. I don't know all the steps off hand to tell you how to do it, but I followed the instructions elseware on this board. It was some time ago now, maybe a year or so and I have no problems since. Maybe someone else can give you advice?
Try searching for reformatting your iPod.
I do remember clicking the 'write zeros to disk' option with mine, which I believe sorted out the corrupted drive.
Be sure you are confident doing all the steps before you do this, because if you get it wrong you could end up with a shiny doorstop!
    Good luck!

  • Itunes not reading ipod mini

My husbands ipod mini was syncing earlier but then he "updated" it and now itunes doesn't recgonize it, So I reset the sync history and it still didn't read it. when I plug it in on the screen of his ipod it says do not disconnect yet itunes isn't doing anything to it! I reset it and it didn't do it. It worked fine before the update. Please help...

Okay, so i was readin through other discussions and i found this tip {"try resetting the iPod while it's connected to the computer: hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo. This will often get it recognized." by Mark Jone3. it worked for me, so hopefully it will for everyone else too!

  • ITunes not allowing update to 4.2

    I have a 3G on 4.1 (8B117) trying to update to 4.2, and iTunes is not allowing it. I'm running OS 10.4.11 and up-to-date iTunes 9.2.1 (5).
When my iPhone is connected, the iTunes phone summary tab shows that an update is available to 4.2 and to click Update, as I have always done in the past. When I do that, I get a pop-up window that says: "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version." It doesn't open the window to give the option to install now, download, etc., as usual.
I have tried re-launching iTunes and re-connecting the phone, but no change. Would anyone have a suggestion as to what, if anything I'm doing wrong, or what a possible solution might be available?
    Thanks.

You need iTunes 10.1 or higher to install iOS 4.2.1. iTunes 10.1 or higher requires Leopard or Snow Leopard. You have no choice but to update your computer's OS.

  • Why can Itunes not read my ipod's content?

Everytime I do an update on itunes it works perfectly fine.  The second time I open up itunes on the most recent version it says it cannot read my ipod's conent.  So it's not my ipod that doesn't work since it can work the first time it is on itunes, it is itunes that does not work.  I don't have a backup file for my songs and I do not want to restore my content.  I just want to add more music from itunes which does work THE FIRST TIME.  The last time I even tried to restore my ipod to factory settings it wouldn't even let me.  It also isn't letting me doing any updates on my ipod for some reason and it says I'm still on 4.3.5, but that isn't even an option below.  (I hate itunes, it's far too complicated than it really needs to be).

Okay, so I had persomed a diagnostic check, and it said ipod not found.  Does that help or make it worse?

  • HTTPService not reading updated xml, i've been having to refresh the xml in my browser manually

I am calling an HTTPService (id=data2php) which runs a php
script which creates an xml doc and puts it on my server. i then
call another HTTPService (id=feedRequest) which reads the xml doc.
i then try to populate a datagrid with the lastResult of my
HTTPService that reads the xml doc. My issue is that that the
HTTPService which reads the xml doc reads the previous incarnation
of the xml doc, not the newly created one that my HTTPService
(data2php) created. i've been manually going to the xml doc in my
browser and hitting refresh for my feedRequest HTTPService to read
    the updated xml.
here is the mxml for the httpservice that reads the xml:
    <mx:HTTPService id="feedRequest" url="
    http://cfcdi.org/eric/dashboard/php/sales.xml"
    result="feedResult(event)" resultFormat="xml" useProxy="false"/>
    pretty straight forward.
(actually, once in a while it will read the updated
    one)

    LittleMuscle,
Instead of binding to the lastResult property, I would
explicitly handle the result and fault events of the HTTPService
(the one that reads the newly created xml doc) and then manually
update an XMLListCollection for use as the datagrid's dp. That way,
you can at least walk through the debugger and see what's going on,
and force the second HTTPService to read only when you're sure the
    newly created doc is ready.
Since you said it works sometimes and not other times, it
sounds like it's just a timing problem, sometimes the xml doc is
created quickly enough that the HTTPService grabs the new xml doc,
but if not, it's grabbing the old one. That would be my
    guess.
