  • Itunes not recognising my ipod touch on Windows 64bit. HELP!

When I try and connect my shiney new ipod touch to itunes it says please connect this device to a computer running vista/windows 32bit... thus rendering it completely useless!
Is there a way to fix this?
Please I am desperate, I feel like I have completely wasted my money.

I just got my ipod touch this morning and I am having the same problem with Windows 7 64 bit. iTunes is the latest 64 bit version. When I plug my ipod into any USB port I am told that it is an unrecognized device.
I can however plug it into my netbook (also running Windows 7 but in 32 bit) and it is recognized as an iPod.

  • Itunes does not recognize my iPod Touch using Windows 7 - 64bit

Itunes does not recognize my iPod Touch using Windows 7 - 64bit. Is this a driver issue? Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

    hi sally,
see if this user tip by Yorkwill helps:
+In the end what works is to just force the drivers on what windows thinks is a camera, i.e. to ‘update’ the device to use the correct driver. There are some hints on how to do this already listed on this forum, but I’ll try to give some more detailed information:+
+1. First off you need to have iTunes installed and the ipod touch plugged in+
+and recognized as ‘something’ e.g. digital camera (it shouldn’t really+
+matter what it’s recognized as, but it needs to be found by windows).+
+2. Search for usbaapl in the C:\WINDOWS system folder:+
+o open windows explorer (e.g. Right-click Start and then click ‘explore’)+
+o right-click the WINDOWS folder and select ‘Search’).+
+o type in usbaapl and hit Search – try to ignore the dog!+
+You should find the driver info in a sub folder of+
    +C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE e.g. C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B+
+Remember that location (either leave the search box open or copy the folder+
    +name into note pad – you’ll need it later)+
    +If you don’t find usbaapl.sys, usbaapl.inf etc. then your drivers have not+
+been installed with the iTunes install and you’ll have to reinstall iTunes.+
    +3. Locate the ipod-camera device:+
+o Open the device manager, e.g. using Start > Control Panel >+
    +Performance and Maintenance > System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager+
+o Look for a device called ‘ipod’ - if your ipod shows up as+
+‘digital camera’ it will be under something like ‘imaging devices’.+
    +4. Update the driver:+
+o Right click the ‘ipod-camera’ in device manager and click on+
+‘Update Driver’ – the Hardware Update Wizard will open.+
+o Check the ‘Install from a list or specific location’ then click ‘Next’+
+o Check ‘Search for the best driver in these locations’. Un-check+
+‘Search removable media’ and check ‘Include this location in the search’.+
+In the text box below type (or better copy and paste) the folder+
+containing the ipod driver information found in step 1 (in the example+
    +above it was C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B), +
    +then click Next.+
+You should now see something like ‘Apple ipod device driver’ or so. Continue+
+installing that device. Once the driver has been installed the ipod will come+
+to life and iTunes (if you have it open) will show it.+

  • ITunes not recognizing original IPod touch after new one installed

I tried to set up new IPod touch but itunes wouldn't recognize it. Downloaded latest version of itunes. Was able to set up new IPod touch but now old touch not being recognized by itunes. Went through the troubleshooting guide with no positive results. Old (unreconized) touch is fully charged. Restarted computer. Restarted itunes. Changes usb ports. Nothing working. Any ideas?

    Hi Jim,
Thank you for your reply to my posting about iTunes not recognizing my iPod Touch after upgrading to Leopard.
iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Thanks for setting me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to your posting, I had already read the article you referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to your posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent you referenced was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

  • Itunes not recognising my ipod and windows asks me to format

Itunes is not recognising my Ipod when I connect to my PC.  I've been using it for 8 years so this is out of the blue.  I get this flashing up:
    "Microsoft Windows
You need to format the disc in Drive N before you can use it.  Do you want to format it?"
    Bottom right of my screen
Safely remove hardware and eject media gives me the option to "Eject Apple iPod USB device"
I did that and now find my iPod has wiped all my stored items and I've had to reset date etc.  Is this a Windows or an Apple problem?

I'm afraid I got so frustrated with the PC crashing that I threw in the towel and ordered an iPod touch this morning after tentatively syncing my mini iPad this first, with no problems, just in case it was the PC.  Iv'e changed it to wifi syncing now as a further precaution.
If I can get the Classic to work again I can at least try to sell it as a functioning model.

  • Issues with iTunes and 1st gen iPod Touch

Since today, iTunes does not start automatically anymore when I connect my iPod Touch. If I launch iTunes manually, it recognized the iPod and syncs normally. What might have happened here and how can I fix this? The option in the preferences to automatically sync when an iPod gets connected is activated.
    I have a 1st gen iPod Touch (2.2.1), a Mac Pro (OS X 10.5.6) with iTunes 8.1.
Funnily enough, iTunes starts immediately whenever I connect my old iPod nanos (2nd and 3 rd gen).
Next steps, which I will try, are reinstalling the Apple Mobile Device Service and if that does not help, restoring the iPod touch.
    Any ideas?
    Best,
    Mustrum

You unchecked the "Open iTunes when THIS iPod is connected" on the Summary Tab.

  • ITunes not compatible with iPod Touch 4th gen (problem with Windows 64 bit)

So I've been trying for about a month or so to sync my iPod Touch to iTunes but ever since i updated it to iTunes 11 it has been saying that i need to uninstall it and install the 64 bit version. I've done that twice this week alone and its still not working, saying again that i need the 64 bit which I already have. I've ended up completely erasing previous iTunes data to see if that would help, but that just ended up being more hassle. I don't think its just my iPod, because it refuses to sync my iPad 2 manually as well.
Please help me, i'm at my wits end.

You are very perceptive - has nothing to do with your ipod, has to do with your Windows. You can try couple things.
One - reinstall itunes "apple way" and when downloading disable your anitvirus.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
please make sure that you completed not only step one, but also step two.
Then disable your antivirus and go to step three.

if that does not work go to thing number two.
Two - come back here with precise text of the message, see if anybody had it before.

  • ITunes 10 will not recognise any iPod touch

This is perplexing - while iTunes 10 will not recognise my 64Gb ipod Touch or my daughters 8Gb iPod Touch, the same configuration (Windows XP) recognises my iPhone 4 and also the old faithful iPod Classic? Any ideas would be appreciated

  • Itunes will not recognize my ipod touch but windows does

I use windows 7 and everything was fine until I updated to the most recent version of Itunes 10. something.  Now when I plug in my Ipod windows recognizes it but I get this message from Itunes: iTunes could not connect to this iPod because an unknown error occurred (0xE800000A)
    Any ideas?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

  • ITunes not syncing with iPod Touch 5th gen

Yesterday I purchased an iPod Touch 5th generation, and have it linked to my MacBook Pro using iTunes 12. I am running OSX 10.9.5, and cannot figure out why it is syncing all the songs I have stored in my cloud, when the "sync only selected songs" box is checked.  On my ipod screen I can see all of the songs I've ever purchased, with the cloud and arrow.
Does anyone know how to keep these songs from appearing if they are not checked as "to be synced" on iTunes?
    Thank you!

    Yes.

  • Purchased itunes music will not copy to ipod touch with windows

I'm helping out a neighbor. They just got an ipod touch and when they set up the itunes they were able to transfer some music but when they purchased music from itunes and tried putting it on the ipod it won't go. Now no music will copy to the ipod. Does anyone know that they should do? I'm not much of a PC person but I think if I can get some direction I can help them out.

If the non-syning ones play in iTunes on the coputer:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Usb device not recognised for ipod touch

Just bought new ipod touch. Connected ok to start with and managed to set up but I know keep ketting the message 'USB device not recognised'. Says something about no drivers installed, but then system says no updated drivers available. Have followed all the help tips, reset the ipod and the only thing I haven't done is reinstall itunes. Is that likely to help? Is the problem likely to be the ipod itself? Any help much appreciated.

have a look at this support article.
